The inspiration for the new Neil Morris Fragrances Psychedelic Luau came to the perfumer Neil Morris by way of a bespoke fragrance he was creating for a good friend. "… The odd combination of notes she wanted", Neil says, "prompted me to comment: 'It’s smelling like a lei at a Psychedelic Luau!' She thought that it might be a good name for it, but I decided to create a completely different perfume based on that name! I wanted something totally fun for summer and a little trippy!"

Psychedelic Luau certainly is totally fun and definitely a little trippy – and also lush and fruity and full of energetic, juicy life, adorned with leis of buttery lactonic white flowers and colored with a hint of the surreal, head shop vibes of earthy, mellow patchouli. From the initial delicious breath, Neil Morris Fragrances Psychedelic Luau is a real mood lifter, a party in a bottle! As I wear Psychedelic Luau I find myself smiling broadly and involuntarily – and everyone I meet is smiling back at me.

My first toke of Psychedelic Luau treats me to the unmistakable taste of one of my favorite notes in perfumery…Banana! Not the heavy overripe, black spotted, gush-y banana, but rather the perfectly yellow, unblemished, just right banana, firm and at once soft and suave. Masterful Neil Morris keeps this perfect banana light and fresh, modulating the sweet, smooth qualities of the yellow fruit with the crisp, sharp snap of green leaves and the cool, zesty aromatics of lime. In moments a squirt of red currant juice creates the effect of a refreshingly sweet banana Popsicle. Yum!

One bite and the cool Popsicle melts into a rich, waxy, bouquet of gardenia and tuberose. Creamy, buttery, lactonic and radiant, the white flowers, spiced with the honeyed-clove of carnation and sparkling with suggestions of fresh cut pineapple and tropical fruits, define the exotic, warmth and alluring heart of Psychedelic Luau. Along with gardenia, tuberose and banana the nose bending effects of Neil Morris Fragrances Psychedelic Luau are amplified by the full-bodied richness of a sweet, ever so slightly dirty patchouli. The careful use of bright, clean ozonic marine notes keep the patch lifted and light. Psychedelic Luau finishes on my skin with a final nod to banana, tuberose, balsamic patchouli and musk. But the party is not over yet! Twenty-four hours pass and Neil Morris Fragrances Psychedelic Luau is still going strong, grooving on my winter coat, reminding me that warm weather and summer fun are really only a few weeks away.
Notes: Green Leaves, banana, red currant, lime, gardenia, tuberose, carnation, pineapple, guava, oceanic notes, musk, and of course, patchouli! ("Wouldn’t be very “psychedelic” without it!" – Neil Morris).
Disclaimer – I would like to thank Neil Morris for the party in a bottle – Psychedelic Luau! My opinions are my own.
