4160 Tuesdays Wash Me In The Water Review (Sarah McCartney) + Rejuvenation Giveaway

When the need of rejuvenation arises and restoring oneself, I search for fragrances within my collection that will bring both a calming and uplifting effect. Last year was quite chaotic in terms of clamouring for new experiences and travel. This year will be focusing on grounding and more insight into mindful practices. With this in mind my choice for January is 4160 Tuesdays Wash Me In the Water. Sarah McCartney (MVP 2022 Çafleurebon Hall of Fame) is well known for creating gourmand powerhouse perfumes with layers upon layers of depth. However, this is a world away from that olfactive realm.

Whether you are beside a babbling brook, taking in the fresh mountain air or strolling in woodland, the need for cleansing and resetting could not be more prevalent given the changes from both a social and technological point of view nowadays where immediacy and short term fixes prevail. Yesterday I heard that the average attention span of youngsters has shrunk to a mere eighteen seconds per video clip so goodness knows how future generations will take time to discover and more importantly immerse themselves into activities which require slower and more thorough development.

My recent olfactive craving for musky scents has been satiated somewhat in recent times and 4160 Tuesdays Wash Me In The Water is a highlight. As Sarah McCartney mentioned in her blog, “Wash Me In The Water treats you gently… We wore it all last summer, when the world tried to toast us.”

From the herbal aquatic family, 4160 Tuesdays Wash Me In The Water has a grounded and earthy quality but also a silk like presence which is most comforting. The opening is smooth which given the top notes was a huge surprise to me, on paper the cut grass, rosemary, clary sage and freshwater combination could remind one of 1996’s CK be. Whereas to me the latter was overly synthetic and a full-on soap come post shower spritz up, Wash Me In The Water is much more nuanced and far less brazen. The mineral and aquatic elements fusing with musk from the outset have a distinctly cleansing effect on me and brings tranquility I rarely experience in scents.

The mid of mint, spring flowers, green tea and neroli are an interesting combination and intertwine seamlessly in beautiful harmony. No singular ingredient dominates the senses. One could imagine mint being particularly powerful and act as a disconnecting force but to my nose this is not the case. The neroli is smooth here, another surprise as I expected it to come to the fore and perhaps overwhelm the composition. The effect is breezy and light but there is also depth which is apparent from the base.

As Wash Me In The Water concludes, the serene beauty of the fragrance develops both in the air and on the skin. Precious frankincense and myrrh mingle effortlessly with milky sandalwood and musk. In essence the overall impression is of pure relaxation making this perfume a fantastic addition for returning to a peaceful state of mind.

Notes: cut grass, rosemary, clary sage, fresh water, mint, spring flowers, green tea, neroli, frankincense, musks (cruelty free of course), sandalwood, myrrh.

This is a beautiful review that draws me in because it makes this fragrance sound like such a tranquil and bright experience. Despite my poor track record with aquatics, Wash Me in The Water sounds very wearable!

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

It’s interesting to hear about a fragrance with both a cleansing and tranquility effect. Also good to hear that the neroli is smooth here. I live in Maryland USA.

  • I would not want my attention span quantified, 18 seconds seems generous for a grown adult somedays. Ha! Really nice writing, love the description of “mingling” resins, just beautiful. Ive never tried 4160 and would love to check them out. This perfume is particularly interesting as im trying to expand out of my floral and spicy bubbles ive been stuck in since starting this journey. I am in Bellingham, WA. 🙂

  • First time hearing about 4160 Tuesdays house and loved what I read about Wash Me In The Water. Usually I tend for strong , sensual and dark fragrances. Wash Me In The Water Is very different from what I currently have. Calming, pacific, refreshing… I would love to try it!!!! I’m from Massachusetts, US.

  • Not to get too philosophical, but throughout history water has signified cleansing healing and such.
The fountain of youth, the ritual of baptism etc…
The description of this scent makes me want to drift off to sleep with the notes of sandalwood, rosemary and sage….

  • Sarah McCartney is famous not just with powerhouse gourmands, but with diversity of the whole 4160Tuesdays portfolio. Currently i own 9 of her creations, but at one point I had 14 , including the 3 , Red , White and Black Queens . 4 fragrances i finished, and unfortunately White Queen bottle was stolen from me 🙁
4160 Tuesdays Wash Me In The Water is fresh breath of 90’s air , in a cold Scandinavians morning.
If I have to rate my favorite 4160Tuesdays fragrances….hard task , depending on the mood I’m in, still:
    1. The original Maxed Out , like Sarah herself confirmed , the formula was changed , and the cumin was toned down significantly.
    2. The Waft from the Loft/ Eau my Soul
    3. White Queen
    All profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • Great review by Karl, as alwayas. I love 4160 Tuesdays, being The Orange Tree my favorite one so far.
I am so intrigued by this fragrance because it makes you feel in peace while wearing it, it must be a great fragrance for using outdoors and going to the forest for example.
I love green fragrances and this one is surely an amazing fragrance with its mint, frankinciense and spring flowers.
I hope I win this one.

This review instantly takes me to a river on a hot sunny day. A day where stress is pushing down on me but the river just cleanses everything away. This scent would be the shining star on a dark day. My favorite perfume will always be Take me to the River. That is my forest love by Sarah. Best fragrance layer combination will be the extra sexiest scent and amberama. These 3 scents just smell like home for me.

  • Karl beautiful review. You took me to a peaceful & relaxing setting. calming and uplifting. 4160 Tuesday Wash the notes are simple and I love Musky Fragrances. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • Maybe it’s because we’re still in the first month of a new year but the concept of a cleansing, rejuvenating type of perfume sounds like just the ticket. I have other “outdoorsy” feeling perfumes anchored with frankincense and myrrh but none that pair it with herbal or aquatic notes, so Karl’s description of “Wash Me In the Water” intrigues. I’m in the US, thanks for the draw!

  • Really like the notes mentioned in this review. It seems to me to be a fresh green and aquatic fragrance, which is my go-to daily fragrance. I like how Karl compared it CK one, it really gives me a reference point to Wash Me in The Water, especially since it’s such a popular/common fragrance. Would love to try this fragrance. From TX, USA.

  • Karl making a comparison of this to CK Be and calling it a more nuanced and less brazen version of that DNA certainly piqued my interest as CK Be was a big favoirte of mine back in high school. As synthetic as it was, teenage me was enamoured with it and I was sorely disappointed when I bought a newer bottle of it just to relive some memories. Yuck! The new stuff is watery in the worst way imagineable and left me smelling like an over-chlorinated pool in the deep dry down. Alas, enough rambling about that. This fragrance sounds wonderfully refreshing. Green tea, frankincense, mint, and watery notes together sounds like a fun spritzer for the upcoming spring months. I live in the USA.

  • Wash me in water sounds divine! The cleansing aspect sounds so interesting and I do love my clean girl perfumes. Would love to try! I am in CT

  • Surprise , Surprise , guess who’s back on Cafleurebon, 4160Tuesdays 🙂
Wash Me In The Water i presume, is calming and relaxing fragrance with slight remarks to a time period i miss a lot , mid 90’s
From 4160Tuesdays i do own 30ml bottles of Eau My Soul and Silk, Lace & Chocolate , and I’m curious about the new, recently referred on Cafleurebon, upcoming 2023 Queen
    Thank you for the opportunity

  • What a lovely review – the focus on how it made you feel as well as the perfume notes makes me very interested to try this one now (I’m going through a phase of picking perfumes for moods). I haven’t tried a lot of 4160 Tuesday perfumes – but I did really like Temptation – it’s calming and cosy and would be a good one to wear to sleep.

  • Karl!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Oh! I Love this fragrance!!! I went through a few samples of Wash Me In The Water last summer! It’s SO lovely! I ended up purchasing Sleep Knot from the brand, but I really need to own a full bottle of this one! Thank you for your Excellent description and reminder! I’d be so lucky to be a winner! ❤️ USS

  • Rebecca Wykes says:

I think what appeals to me about Karl’s review is its obvious honesty. Some perfume reviews are little more than the press release from.the brand/house. Karl obviously loves this perfume and that shines through.
I love 4160tuesdays and hsve many of their scents but my favourite is sexiest scent on the Planet ever imho.
Like WMITW its not an in your face powerhouse, but a dreamy, soft, comforting hug in a bottle.

  • As Wash Me In The Water concludes, the serene beauty of the fragrance develops both in the air and on the skin.

I am intrigued by the mix of frankincense, myrrh, musk and sandalwood. 4160 Tuesdays is a house that I have got no experience with but I am intrigued by nonetheless. Thanks a million from the UK

  • tranquility I rarely experience in scents.

The neroli is smooth here, another surprise as I expected it to come to the fore and perhaps overwhelm the composition. Thanks a lot from the United Kingdom

  • Marek Kocjan says:

Thank you for your review. The best is you writing about you feelings, what you actually smell. I haven’t know this brand but heard about it. Fortunately I an in UK. Once I went to Hammersmith and discover where is this studio, whole street was in lovely mixture of fragrances. They let me in and let me smell almost all fragrances. This is serious Art and I love it.
My fave fragrances so far are: London 1696, The Lion Cupboards, Eau My Soul, Court of Ravens.

  • Andrea Miles says:

My favourite of Sarah’s creations is Centrepiece, particularly the unofficial one where too much honey went into the mix!

  • This is a beautiful review of a beautiful peaceful fragrance that lets you step out of the stresses of life. Tranquillity in a bottle.

  • What appeals to me was the reviewer saying this is reminiscent of 1996’s CK be without being overly synthetic. US

  • I have yet to own something by this revered perfumer and all the ingredients sound gorgeous. Neroli, green tea, mint, myrrh and sandalwood would be calming and centering. I agree we have a big task in teaching our kids to expand their attention span. I honestly see how its making it so much harder for our teachers. Let’s spritz this and go outside.

  • Since I work in an elementary school I am not surprised to see the attention span of kids. What a good reminder to turn off our tech and immerse ourselves in something that feeds our soul. I loved that Sarah wore this when the “world tried to toast us”. I have several of Sarah’s creations, so unique. The Rhubarb Custard takes me back to my Mom’s kitchen and her rhubarb bakes. I had my Mom smell it without telling her the name and she loved it. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • I love aquatic and musk scents and Karl’s review sounds so refreshing! Grass scents always have a happy vibe to me as well. I’m in the USA.

  • I am a sucker for any perfume that has “cut grass” in its notes…and I feel similarly about mint. Thanks for this thoughtful review of a very pastoral sounding scent. I actually have never before tried a 4160 Tuesday perfume!
    I live in WV, USA

  • Thanks for the review Karl!

4160 Tuesdays is one of those houses that I still have to delve deeper into and I’m glad you brought this new release to my attention! (as well as White, Red and Dark Queen! I’ll have to get my partner a sample set of these!)

We are currently experiencing a mild winter and I’ve found myself dipping into my Fresher and Warmer Weather fragrances again. I’ve always enjoyed my Green and Aquatic fragrances the most and the notes you describe of Wash Me in The Water tick all my boxes.

I look forward to trying this!
    Greetings of the UK!

  • Wash Me in the Water sounds like a perfect calming spring fragrance; herbal, earthy and aquatic. The mint, spring flowers and green tea gives me visions of new growth and new beginnings. The sandalwood, musk, frankincense and myrrh are pure relaxation. Lovely effort from 4160 Tuesday. I’ve sampled Babylon Sunset and A Kiss by the Fireside. MD, USA.

  • IvanVelikov says:

I wish I had the time for Rowing on a lake kind of vacation, away from the big city, the work and the every day pressure.
For now Wash Me In The Water would do , it feels soothing , and very much versatile fragrance
I like White Queen, and Black Velvet Cafe, the second i bought for the 3th time in December . First time for $145 , third for $180 , outstanding fragrance.
Thank you Karl, and Sarah McCartney

  • I adore watery perfumes that aren’t the usual brazen aquatic and the review makes this sound like a lyrical meditation of water. Wonderful! I live in the US

  • I absolutely love the 4160 gourmands! Dirty Honey isn’t just my favorite of theirs, it’s my favorite honey period and I love to collect honey notes. Really amazing work!
This sounds gorgeous… simply because I trust the nuances as you say from McCartney. And I love the idea right now of neroli, mint, cool refreshing and have been in a musk mood heavily recently too! Thank you for the opportunity. Fingers crossed.
    In California.

  • I first heard about Wash Me in the Water and was intrigued. Now this article is singing its praises. This perfume keeps popping up on my radar, which makes me think I need to sample it soon (I am sadly behind when it comes to trying 4160 Tuesday). My heart skipped a beat when I read there is green tea in Wash Me In The Water. I am constantly in search of beautiful tea notes in perfume. Whether I win a bottle or not, I will be trying the fragrance soon. Thank you for the inspiration! ~Indiana

  • Fresh and comforting… It sounds perfect. I have never tried any of 4160 Tuesdays perfumes, but would absolutely love to! USA.

  • BostonScentGuy says:

Than you so much for this wonderful review! I love the idea of a fresh scent with ozonic, watery, green aspects that is measured in its interpretation of freshness and doesn’t overdo the squeaky clean aromachemicals to the point where it feels gross! Such a fan of Sarah’s work too. Thanks for this draw–I’m in the US.

  • “Sarah McCartney (MVP 2022 Çafleurebon Hall of Fame) is well known for creating gourmand powerhouse perfumes with layers upon layers of depth”

Yes , i was introduced to 4160 Tuesdays at Perfumology. White Queen I had a chance to smell there, buying something else. Nir Guy strongly suggested I had to check it out. Beautiful hazelnut creamy and resinous gourmand .
Being a Pastry Chef I’m drawn to 4160Tuesdays gourmands , White Queen and Silk, Lace & Chocolate I bought at Perfumology, and I like
Creamy Vanilla Crumble and a few others.
Karl Topham take on Wash Me In The Water made me think of making Salted Butter Rosemary Cake , and later on eating it with green tea, while on picnic in the woods.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

  • What I learned from Karl’s review of 4160 Tuesdays Wash Me In the Water is that this perfume has a both calming and uplifting effect, kind of like drinking green tea!! I love the notes and also Karl’s observation that it’s fantastic for bringing oneself to a peaceful state of mind. I have tried a number of 4160 Tuesdays perfumes and I can say that they are not mainstream, quite unique in their character, and could be at times surprising. Thanks for the review and draw. I am in the continental United States.

  • 4160 Tuesdays is a house I stumbled across unintentionally, but I’m glad I did. I admit I’m a vain man, and getting positive attention is not the main reason, but still really important one when I’m buying fragrances. If you’re like me, or know such guys and you’re looking for a present, look no further – Eau My Soul both smells amazing , and positive attention is there each and every time.
Tuesdays Wash Me In The Water on the other hand, is type of fragrance i’d wear when i’d like to be alone, maybe on my porch , reading a book.
    Nice giveaway, USA

I like the idea of a smooth green opening. Too often are they harsh or sharp. New Jersey USA.

  • Aquatics generally don’t work for me—something in most of them gives me a headache (I think it’s the Calone)—but I’m always on the hunt for that wonderful exception to the rule. Karl’s succinct review emphasized the “breezy and light [effect]” of 4160 Tuesdays Wash Me In The Water, which sounds like a wonderful option for warm spring and summer days, and the smooth combination of herbs, cut grass, tea, neroli, and cut flowers sounds like a really pleasant blend. I’d love to try 4160 Tuesdays Wash Me In The Water.

I’m in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Bigyikes5000 says:

Very intrigued by Karl’s review here. The Green Tea and Frankincense indicate that it might have decent performance on my skin as well. I really love aquatic and ozonic fragrances, and this brand really caught my nose when I visited Perfumology last time. (Specifically, I thought Crikey Coconut (I’m butchering the name) by this brand was a fantastic gourmand). Would loved to be entered to win. Ship to Pennsylvania.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I would like to try this fragrance. I’m interested to see if it produces “a calming and uplifting effect”. For a while now, I’ve heard of perfumer Sarah McCartney, but I haven’t gotten to try anything from her yet. I like the notes listing for this fragrance. I can truly enjoy fresh scents like this one seems to be. I can like a lot of those fresh scents from the 1990s and this one seems to be a higher-quality, more profound fragrance than a lot of those designer fragrances from the 1990s. I truly hope to win a bottle of this one. I live in the U.S.A. I haven’t tried anything yet from this company.

  • So Wash Me In The Water is not just tranquility in 4160Tuesdays bottle , but there’s so mint , green tea , and it would treat me gently? I’m interested .
“Captured by Candlelight” is my hidden gem , no one knows about. One of those “I don’t want you to know what I’m wearing”.It’s a gift I received for my birthday, 3 years ago.
    Thanks for the draw

Thanks for the tranquil review Karl.

I had the image of paddleboating down a creak on a warm summer day, with the sunshine feeling great on my skin and warming the smells of the plants around me.

I loved Karl’s review about 4160 Tuesdays Wash Me in The Water. 4160 Tuesday’s is always a house I have beem intrigued by Sarah McCartney’s brilliant perfume making abilities have proceeded her. I agree with Karl how consumed younger generations are consumed by electronic devices and social media. Wash Me In the Water sounds like the perfect unisex musk based fragrances with herbal, earthy, and aquatic qualities that really transport you to another place and time. My favorite 4160 Tuesday’s fragrance is Over the Chocolate Shop. I am from the USA.

  • foreverscents says:

Wash me in the Water definitely sounds like the rejuvenating and grounding fragrance that we all need right now. I love all the notes, especially the mint and the clary sage. I also like aquatic and mineral notes. This fragrance seems to be as refreshing as immersing oneself under a pristine waterfall.
    I live in the USA.

  • sephrenia300 says:

Lovely review Karl! What appeals to me about Karl’s review is the idea of a grounded and earthy herbal aquatic that’s musky and not overly synthetic and soapy. I rarely enjoy aquatics but that’s mostly because of the overly synthetic bent of most so 4160 Tuesdays Wash Me In The Water sounds very appealing to me. I live in the US. My favourite 4160 Tuesdays perfume is Red Queen!
