2018 Limited Edition Aftelier Perfumes Alchemy (Mandy Aftel)

My first exposure to natural perfumery was through Mandy Aftel in the early 2000s when I read her groundbreaking book Essence and Alchemy published in 2001. Since its debut, it has been translated in at least seven languages. As a scented companion, she created her very first perfume (as a solid) Aftelier Perfumes Alchemy for what is now an award-winning impressive and extensive body of  fragrances. Aftelier Perfumes Alchemy was retired until now as Mandy decided to reinterpret the original formula in a liquid form and in a limited quantity.

Aftelier Perfumes Alchemy

“I am working with the original essences that I used when I made Alchemy over 15 years ago, and the original ylang ylang concrete and vanilla absolute are no longer possible to find. Fortunately, I saved some of these gorgeous essences because even back then, it was extremely difficult to find a rich and complex vanilla absolute. It is even harder to find ylang ylang concrete, which smells like a perfume all by itself: rich, sweet, and intensely floral — my absolute favorite version of ylang ylang. This holiday season 2018 I wanted to bring it out again but this time in a limited-edition rollette (rollerball), using a base of fractionated coconut oil. A respite of comfort with its amber foundation supporting a traditional floral heart, finished with a splash of spicy citrus. Portable and easy to take with you.”-Mandy Aftel of Aftelier Perfumes

Top Notes: Bitter Orange, Black Pepper, Bergamot

Middle Notes: Turkish Rose Absolute , Indian Jasmine Absolute, Aged Ylang Ylang Concrete

Base Notes: Benzoin Absolute, Aged Labdanum Absolute, Aged Vanilla Absolute

Aftelier Perfumes Alchemy  is available as a 1/6 ounce (5ml) rollette (rollerball) and retails for $75.  A 1/4 ml sample is available for $7.

  • This fragrance does not sound strange, but I am sure the quality and concentration leads to a mesmerizing experience.

This would make a great gift for my mum.
