Linda Pilkington and Geza Schoen
Ormonde Jayne’s Creative Director Linda Pilkington, in collaboration with perfumer Geza Schoen, has released the third and final fragrance in the Ormonde Jayne “Gold Trilogy” – White Gold. The first perfume in the series, Black Gold (2014) explores the fragrant colors of sandalwood. Rose Gold (2016) is a luxurious oriental featuring T’aif rose, orange blossom and oud. White Gold Parfum captures the essence of the cool luster of the silvery precious metal over the warmth of jasmine, freesia, orchids and vanilla.

The initial shimmer of White Gold Parfum (it is not an EdP) is sparked with the leafy and lively effervescence of pink peppered citrus and clary sage. This sparkling effect and the bright, invigorating qualities of mandarin and bergamot surprise me with an uncharacteristic longevity. Contrary to expectation, this alloy of translucent top notes stays vibrant and alive on my skin for three hours and more before the smooth and silken quality of the temperate floral heart begins a slow, insistent reveal.

Elements of clary sage remain in place as a bouquet of white flowers, jasmine, orchid and carnation, float over the sultry sweetness of freesia. Once again the progression of the fragrance is quite slow.

White Gold dries down, poco a poco, over four more hours exposing balmy amber, moss and cedar wood colored with a transparent glaze of Madagascar vanilla, labdanum, white musk and orris. The sillage is at once polite and seductive. After 24 hours I find that I am still luxuriating in the rich vanilla, orris and ambrette luster.

"Luster" (lustre) describes the manner in which light interacts with a surface. The word itself is derived from the Latin "lux", meaning "light", and is often used to illustrate the radiance, gloss and cool brilliance of the metallic precious metal we call white gold. Ormonde Jayne White Gold Parfum, via the artistry of Geza Schoen, interprets this luminous, lustrous effect in scent, creating a cool, vitreous fragrance with a silken-white floral heart. White Gold is a sophisticated and complex perfume that can both refresh in summer and take the chill off a cold winter's day with its burnished silvery glow. Notes: Leaf green molecule, pink pepper, mandarin, bergamot, clary sage, jasmine absolute, carnation absolute, orris butter, orchid accord, freesia, Madagascar vanilla, ambrette absolute, cashmeran, white musk, amber, moss, tonka, labdanum, opoponax, vetiver and cedar wood.
