New Niche Fragrance: Memo Paris Quartier Latin Perfume “Souvenir of Paris”

What is the sign of a true perfumista? A bottle of one of Memo Paris's exclusive fragrances sits on your dresser. This year, John and Clara Molloy, the founders of Memo introduce two fragrances- Quartier Latin is the one that debuts September (Luxor Oud is the other more information soon).

If you are unfamiliar with the brand, John Molloy, an Irishman, met his wife Clara ( a native of Andelusia) on a chairlift in 2005. Clara wrote a book in 2006 about great noses and that is how they met the renowned perfumer,  Aliénor Massenet , a perfumer with IFF. Aliénor had worked for seven years in New York with IFF alongside the great perfumer Sofia Grosjman, before heading to Paris (Antidote by Victor&Rolf, Jasmin by Armani Prive, Only the Brave by Diesel, Eau de fleurs by Chloé, Parlez-moi d’amour by John Galliano, Trésor in Love by Lancôme and Intuition by Lauder are just a few of her many creations). Travel and scent were two of their passions, and in 2007 Memo was launched and Madame Massenet has been the nose for the line ever since. Each perfume   evokes a memory, a place…in and out of time. The collection is called Les Échappées (escapes) and with Quartier Latin we head to Paris…o ooiiiIo P Par PLatLLrtierrandeeac

"It’s a timeless Paris that fires Woody Allen’s dreams. Its vaulted cellars, café terraces, obscure rooms and university benches give rise to euphoria, a thirst for life, discovery, and elation in spiritual pleasures and capital desires. A Paris where the spirit leads the dance and the body follows. A jazz improvisation can last all night. A discussion go on until dawn. A skirt twirl endlessly.

From the Pantheon to Café de Flore, from the Sorbonne to the Luxembourg Garden, this village emits a unique atmosphere, the charm of those in the know and underground rumblings that the Quartier Latin fragrance has captured. This olfactory creation is intimately connected to the Left Bank, the soul of Paris. It arose from an event that has gone down in the history of the city and its Eiffel architecture, Art Deco: the celebration of the 160th anniversary of the Bon Marché department store, the temple of luxury and fashion in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, founded in 1852. For the occasion, the store invited Memo to capture the spirit of their location on rue de Sèvres".

Notes: Clove leaves, Cedarwood, Sandalwod, Tonka beans and amber.

  • Oh, yum. First of all, I love the latin quarter. And second, this description just reeks of Paris in the fall. I love.

  • My very first trip to Paris was in Autumn, from Brussels. I love Paris. I love the Latin Quarter. I love Paris.

Did I mention that I love Paris?

    I love Paris.

    xoxoA

  • I’ve read a lot of great things about Memo Shams-this one sounds interesting -great bottles as well…Memo Paris come to the good old USA!

  • Another perfume to add to my ever growing list for my next trip abroad. We had a wonderful trip to Paris about 10 years ago. We walked and walked every day all around the city and then sat in cafes drinking and people watching and eventually eating and drinking some more. It was a very romantic trip. I look forward to trying Memo and conjuring up my memories.

  • Memo’s sublimely scented candles are pure luxury…and Shams is gloriously indulgent..their every outing is to be savoured…

  • This sounds beautiful & evocative. I would love to try it, adding my. Pice to the “please come to America” chorus!

This sounds delicious. I was only in Paris for one week, but I’ve longed to go back ever since. How beautiful to have a piece of it you can wear anytime you want.

  • I’m so jealous. My parents are going to Paris at the end of this year and I so want to go. This perfume sounds amazing, not to mention I adore clove. The bottle is beautiful too, a real work of art.

  • I am going to start of by saying I have been a long time fan…Memo Siwa was the first fragrance to make its way into my collection…lovely gourmand. I am so looking forward to possibly getting to try this, its sounds right up my alley.

  • I am a true parfumista. I don’t think there were any doubts , just saying. I love Shams and Manoa .

    Quartier Latin sounds intriguing.

  • Memo Shams has been on my radar for a bit and this sounds lovely too. I don’t know how I feel about delving into scents that would be almost impossible for me to get my hands on.

  • I’ve been dreaming ever since I saw this link. Thank you for sharing MEMO Paris with me. I’m in love. (Granada’s flavour text is absolutely beautiful)

  • Paris is my favorite place on earth
I began dreaming about it at 4-5 years of age, hearing my grandma stories of her only visit abroad
at that time it was an impossible dream, living under a comunist regime that did not allow its citisens to go abroad, not even to “friendly” comunist countries
things changed happily and I was able to visit- Paris was even better than my dreamt city

  • I’ve just become interested in Memo. This actually sounds pretty fantastic, especially for the coming season. I’m becoming even more interested!

  • I haven’t tried Memo fragrances. Thank you for the introduction! Love the graphics on the bottle. I will investigate more… 🙂

  • Tonka beand and Sandalwood, sounds lovely!
Thank you for the introduction, very interesting history behind the brand.

  • Shams is gorgeous. Memo is a wonderful house! Went to the Sorbonne for two glorious years, and their fragrances surely capture the essence of the City of Light!

  • What a great article, conveying the spirit of Paris in the fall and introducing a line I have never heard of . It is my dream to visit Paris someday.

  • This couldn’t be more timely: I’m in the process of looking for a hotel or apartment for a four-day stay in Paris in December! St. Germain is our first-choice neighborhood! Lovely review and this fragrance sounds just up my alley. I’m a little afraid of what I might do (with regard to fragrance) when unleashed on the rues and boulevards of Paris!

  • Adore the notes and the city that inspired it- two trips to Paris in my youth and I would love another visit 🙂
