Dita Von Teese’s first perfume was introduced in Nice, during the Cannes Film Festival. The fragrance was created by perfumer Nathalie Lorson, the nose behind many commercial and niche fragrances ( Le Labo Poivre, Lalique Perles de Lalique, the reformulated Acqua di Parma Profumi and Encre Noire). Notes: Bulgarian rose, peony, jasmine, sandalwood, patchouli and musk.
But Dita's already planning her next scent.According to today's Women’s Wear Daily, she said ““I am just dying to do a men’s fragrance,”
Dita would like to create a men’s scent;Women's Wear Daily quotes her as saying “I think we often encounter men (even more than women) wearing the wrong fragrance — strong, overpowering stuff that women don’t like. I think I’d love to be sort of an adviser to make something super sophisticated, unusual and unique.”
She came up with the idea when she started thinking about Mae West, Dita's idol; she believes Ms. Mae would never create her own celebuscent, instead “she would have done a men’s fragrance".
The Burlesque Queen isn’t a huge fan of sexy men’s fragrance advertising campaigns.
"They don’t want to look like that. They don’t want to look at that guy showering or with his shirt off,” she said in WWD. “Most of them don’t. There are elegant ways for men [to be] wearing fragrance. It’s just that they’re not the big commercial brands, because those are sort of too sporty, too spicy, too lemony,” she told Women's Wear Daily.
Finally, she admitted she is already doing the ground work and will be conducting focus groups, which she plans to attend.
Personally, I think Mae West would have had her own 'private focus' group. Here she is at age 62, surrounded by Mr. Universe Mickey Hargitay, He was Hungarian, husband (for a time) to Jayne Mansfield, and father to actress Mariska Hargitay and (and another body builder) ;“I only like two kinds of men, domestic and imported.”
