  • It's hard for me to decide between the interview with Maurice Roucel and that with Sergio Momo – both were wonderful! But I will go with the Maurice Roucel interview.
Oh, and congratulations for one year of great blogging! 🙂

  • Congratulation to the team! 🙂
I read a lot and love a lot from Cafleurebon – but best part was interview with Amouage creative director!!! He`s just great!

  • A favorite story? It's easy! Just recently while answering a question in Persolaise's blog I used one of your articles as an example of how a great story can effect my desire to try a perfume.
The story was: Frederic Malle Le Perfume de Therese: (Fragrance, Love Story and The Plum) by Michel Roudnitska (https://cafleurebon.com//frederic-malle-le-parfum-de-therese-fragrance-love-story-and-the-plum-by-michel-roudnitska-draw/). Tomorrow I'll be trying this perfume for the first time (I got it in the mail today). I wouldn't have done it (at least for a while) if it weren't for that article.

  • First and foremost, many congratulations on your milestone!!!
I have enjoyed many articles over the past 12 months, but recall one from last year written by Michelyn that referred to a perfume named after the Ethiopian Queen Makeda – there were some stunning visuals accompanying the piece, and I very much enjoyed the historic account of this important figure. I've still not tried the scent created in her name, but the article has stayed with me ever since.
Here's to many more years of blogging!

  • Congratulations on CaFleureBon's birthday! My favorite article was Chasing the Dream: The Perfume Collector as The Orchid Thief. Fascinating article about perfume collecting, and I am intrigued by the world of orchid collecting.

  • Congratulations on the first year BDay:) This has become my blog of choice for reading when I only have time for one. My fav article was the Amouage one as well (as this is a new house for me). Cheers to many years to come!

  • Congratulations,I love your blog, from the many inspiring articles the Maurice Roucel is a masterpiece-thanks and all the best!

  • Happy Birthday to all at CaFleureBon!

I've enjoyed the various interviews but my favorite was with M. Duchaufour in July 2010. Something he said warmed my heart – he said, "There is only one; Dior Homme by Olivier Polgier."  I love Dior Homme and knowing he does as well pleases me to no end.

He also invited Michelyn to call him Bertrand….**sigh**. Little jealous there I have to admit!

Looking forward to celebrating your 2nd birthday!

  • To clarify my comment….Dior Homme was M. Duchafour's response when asked if there was a perfume he wished HE had created. Left that important tidbit out.

  • sonia garcia says:

my favorite article is the one with the Xerjoff main guy Sergio Momo, I hope that I win this one and also that you mention the winners here as well besides Tweeter and Facebook (because I don't have them …) And once again happy birthday!!!

  • I stumbled across the blog a couple of times, bookmarked, realized my bookmarks are no longer working, couldn't find the blog or remember the name, stumbled across it again . . . as a fairly recent reader, my favorite is probably Gender, Power and  Lady MacBeth.  It's a tough call, though — Parfum de Therese is a favorite, and the background is difficult to resist.  Congratulations on your First Blog Birthday.

  • My favorite article… that's hard. The interviews have all been great– It's hard for me to choose betweeen the Duchafour, Geza Schoen and Chandler Burr interviews. Duchafour had the most insight, but I'm actually a bigger fan of Schoen and Burr. I loved Burr's book, and I seem to love everything that Schoen touches.
I'd love to see an in depth interview with Jean Claude Ellena, Patricia Nicolai and maybe one with Linda Pilkington AND Geza Schoen together. Can we "request" articles?? 🙂

  • Congratulations CafleureBon! Looking forward to many more years to come! My favorite article will always and forver be the wonderful interview with the charming Maurice Roucel. Seeing the two of you Tango was a very memorable event. It was wonderful to see the human side of journalsim!

  • I'll second Holly D – the clip of you and Maurice doing the tango was so much fun to see. (I've been wandering through the archives, and now I want to go back and read from the very beginning. This is not helping my productivity, you know!)

    Happy first birthday!

  • Congrats on your anniversary!!!  My favorite articles are the interviews with perfumers.  Love reading about their inspiration for the scents they create.  Knowing the inspiration adds to the enjoyment of a scent.  If I had to choose one, I'd say your interview with Yann Vasnier because I won the draw…thus closing the circle – reading his words, then receiving a signed note and bottle from him.  Truly wonderful!

  • Congratulations!!! My favorite article: "Chasing the Dream: The Perfume Collector as The Orchid Thief." I've taught the _The Orchid Thief_ in some of my classes, so this article will definitely give me another angle to offer the class in the future!

  • to all,we all always announce the winners of a draw but in a separate post which is why we say RSS. keep the comments coming, what is your favorite ormonde jayne fragrance? what was your favorite review by mark or ida which reviews  gave you some insight into a perfume you never tried?

  • Congratulations on the anniversary!  My favourite articles were the friends-in-fragrance ones which revealed links I would never have expected between the perfumers and a real insight into their lives that I haven't seen elsewhere.

  • Oh! What a wonderful draw!
I haven't tried Frangipani, but I surely love Ormonde Woman and Ta'if.

An interview I enjoyed immensely was the one to Maurice Roucel, who also happens to be one of my favorite noses ever (What would I do without Musc Ravageur, Tocade and Broadway Nite?)

  • It's very easy for me to give love to Ormonde Jayne because it's my favorite line. There's something about those fragrances that work magic with my skin, my sense of aesthetics, and my nervous system (bliss!). I feel crazy for wanting to own five, but I already own Woman, Champaca, and Tolu (my husband's favorite), but I want Ta'if and Orris Noir as well.
It's hard to chose a single article from your blog because I've been reading it for a long time. And I particularly enjoy the fact that there are new posts every day! But I'm going to go with the Maurice Roucel interview because of the tango and because I'm a fan of his work.
Congratulations again on your first year!

  • Congratulations to all associated with CaFleureBon! Watching the growth over the past year has been amazing. To pick one favorite is so difficult. All of the articles and Interviews give me great insight. I was particularly taken with an older interview of Michelyn's Titled Rewind.. An interview with Jean Claude Ellena, one that she states was pivitol in her journalist career. Chandler did indeed make Perfumers Rock Stars with the release of The Perfect Scent. I loved JCE's statement I believe in humanity above all. Have to say that I also adore that his mentor was Edmond Roudnistska, by the way I loved the interview with Michel Roudnistska as well. His dream fragrance of creating (the perfume of the wind) got me to thinking, that changes day by day location by location…How stimulating. Another inspiring part of the interview was how he does not use the phrase unisex, "perfers to be shared". Love this cause I love using masculine perfumes and I love the way they unfold and blossom on my skin.
I could go on but this article I absolutely took so much from. Thanks to all the writers and contributers and the many friends whom have came into my life from this great connection.

  • Congratulations on the first day of your birthday,  and wafting all the way to the end.
My fave piece is the strongly scented Scandalous women – wonderful piece on the concentration of passion and lust for life of these women.
I think, that, just like a perfume, they can only be thought of in small sprays.
    OrmondeJayne's  Osmanthus!!

My favorite article is the Maurice Roucel "Tango in NYC" and I really own and love Ormonde Jayne Man, I always wanted to try the others but there is no place to try them, they should have a store that carries them here in the US. And Happy Birthday to this awesome blog for us FUMEHEADS!!!!!!

  • My fav. article was also: Frederic Malle Le Perfume de Therese: (Fragrance, Love Story and The Plum) by Michel Roudnitska  Very touching!
Glad to se OJ here as well! OJ Woman is my fav. and I will always remember it as my first FB buy…and my first 'splurge' on me! As a mom of three, I usually spend/splurge/spoil/care for the kids first, and OJ Woman was a purchase just… for … me!

  • Claudia Kroyer says:

Happy Birthday 🙂 …my favorite was the Tango in NYC………loved the video :).  What a nice gesture of Oj to contribute for the readers to be able to win a set of the wonderful Frangipani set. I personally adore T'aif, Ormonde Woman and Tolu. Would love to try the Frangipani. Fun, fun, fun.

  • (adding to my comment above)
Ormonde Jayne is a very special brand for me: after coming accross it last year in London by pure chance, smelling Ta'if and falling in love with it I started my concious journey into niche segment of the perfume market. Also, it's a unique brand because out of their 12 scents there isn't a single one I dislike or couldn't wear. Of course, there are several that are my favorite – Ta'if, Orris Noir and Tiare, but all others includine masculine scents feel exceptionally good on my skin.
To anybody who isn't familiar with the brand and doesn't have a luxury of just going to one of their retail locations I recommend their discovery set. It looks, feels and smells wonderful.

  • Happy birthday to Cafleurebon
the review that i really like is "Last Tango with master Perfumer Maurice Roucel in NYC. that's really interesting. But, i should say sorry, because i haven't try any from ormonde jay line

  • ElizabethN says:

I love the interviews, especially the recent one with Duchaufour, and the one with Roucel <3 both of whose work I have loved since my first days as a perfume-lover. It's always nice to hear about their inspiration and upcoming work. Thanks for the great blog!

  • Congrats and 1 year happy birthday! I really enjoyed the Chasing The Dream article. The perfume collector as the orchid thief.  I enjoyed reading about others who are perfume collectors.   Thanks for all the amazing information.

  • All of the articles on CaFleureBon are great (congrats on 1 year!!!). I've had a lot of favorites, but rather than mentioning another one of the interviews which all the commenters above have talked about, I'm going to pick one of my recent favorites: the one where you guessed what the celebrities would be wearing on the red carpet at the Oscars. I thought it was a unique take on the moment.

Ormonde Jayne's fragrances are all fantastic. Truly, she hasn't had a bad one yet. My favorites are Ormonde Man and Ta'if.

  • We encourage all of you to enjoy our archival articles… so much to explore when we are just infants. I am happy so many enjoy the more recent interviews and articles..but dig deep into june, july and before for some outstanding pieces Buried treasures!

  • Congratulations on your first year! The articles I have enjoyed the most have been the interviews with the perfumers, and of those my favourite is The Last Tango in NYC with Maurice Roucel — that tango was delightful. An interesting article on a completely different note was Monica Miller's reflection on Nina Simone.
Re Ormonde Jayne: I know if I could afford a trip to London it would include a vist to Ormonde Jayne for the personal pampering and learning experience of their Perfume Portrait service. Meanwhile I am going to have to content myself with ordering their Discovery Set.

  • Congratulations Cafleurebon…Thanks for the wonderfu articles and the enjoyment that I have in reading them.
    Keep the good stuff coming!

  • Am deftly offended by you trying to coerce me into choosing but only one fave article. I politely refuse. Dear editor & writers, you have far too may witty thoughts & sincere wisdom regarding fragrances & their validity. Happy anniversary to you all, but, I argue, much like a genteel musical composition, a good fragrance has more than one favourite 'note.'

Since you insist…the worst fragrances of 2010 have kept me away from department store imposters.

  • you smell!!! says:

My favorite is the one with Maurice Roucel "Tango in NYC" but I really enjoy all the articles here specially all the interviews, it is getting deeper in this fascinating hobby to see what the best perfumers have to say or what they think about their work, it is great reading. Keep going with this amazing job guys, happy birthday!!!

  • My favorite interview was the one to Geza Schoen and Marc Buxton. Both are really nice and it was a funny reading.
I loved the interviews to Bertrand Duchafour and Maurice Roucel too. Well, I love all your interviews and articles because I always learn something new.
I have only tried an Ormonde Jayne perfume, Osmanthus, and it's lovely.
Thanks for this generous draw and congratulations on your birthday!

  • I like to read all of the interviews, but since I am fascinated by the prolific and talented Bertrand Duchaufour, I'll choose the recent interview with him. As for Ormonde Jayne fragrances, I am drawn to Tiare. I've only tried it once, but it seemed to be a bit of a departure from the others in the line (which I also like) and I really want to explore it further. I'll probably need to order it at some point.

  • Oh, another March birthday!
I started reading CaFleureBon this year, relatively recently, and I honestly think it is the best one around.  Along with your Birthday Bash Days, I will be revealing my favorites.  Today I will share the one that made me find this blog and made me stay.  I was looking up online pictures of Dawn Spencer Hurwitz fragrances and came here (so yes, post good perfume pics — people will come! wink, wink).  When I read the interview with her, I realized that these people at CaFleureBon are SERIOUS!  I think, it was Michelyn's article, but I will have to go check.

Love for Ormonde Jayne, now, that's easy.  I fell hard for Tolu this  year after trying it last year and putting into a pile called in my mind "come back later because I do like it".  Now I am a happy owner of a FB and it's my #1.  Along with my bottle came a Frangipani sample… guess what — it is almost empty now and I love it!  Should I win, I will keep two and send one to try to my BN friends so more can be exposed to this great line.  Love to you, Linda @ Ormonde Jayne!
BTW, the packaging was so lovely!

  • Confirmed: Michelyn, this review was yours.  I thought so.
So, in the retrospect: I am grateful to Dawn.  Because of my love for her art of perfumery I was able to find my favorite blog.  Yay to Dawn and yay to Cafleurebon!

  • Congratulations and many happy returns of the day!
I read all your articles and loved many of them. Some were mentioned already. I would like to add the post about the history of Caron House. Really fascinating.
Regarding Ormonde Jayne, I love Tolu and have special feeling for Tiare.  Hopefully I will feel the same for Frangipani. I have never tried it but I will.

    Michelyn,

After hours of reading, much too late into the night…but so
interesting I couldn't stop, I would have to say my favorite article
was from November 14, 2010…Once upon a time, the perfume that made
me a woman.  Being a 40something (shhh!) woman today, I too recall
wearing Poison as a very young adult.  Brought me back to some of
those good (and bad!) memories and reminded me of other fragrances I
have worn at different times in my life and the whos, whats and wheres
of those times! Looking forward to new fragrances, my newfound freedom
and new adventures this year!  Thank you for all your great work.  A
delight and joy to keep up with you on your website and Facebook!

        All the best,

        Gia

  • FRANGIPANI DRAW CLOSES NOON EST Gia,THANK YOU for reading so many and so late into the nightThat was written by our jouraliste Parisienne Emmanuelle Varon. Do

  • No problem in showing love for Ormonde Jayne fragrances. Last year I used the perfume portrait service at an Ormonde Jayne shop, which was fascinating, and Frangipani was one of the fragrances highlighted for me. But in the end I went home with a bottle of Ormonde Jayne Woman, which is such a special perfume, but i would love to win the Frangipani!  As for favourite articles – so difficult – I have enjoyed going back through your archives and I think the article that has stayed with me is Tim Girvin's piece from May 31 2010 'The Smoke of Fragranced Experience: per-fume' – a very evocative and thought provoking meditation.

  • Congratulations on one year of blogging! I love Ormande Jayne perfumes, and frangipani is probably one of my favorites, as well as Osmanthus. My favorite reviews….too many to mention. But I love the seasonal selections of favorites, such as the year end wrapup done on Dec. 28th.

  • Cafleurebon really is unlike any other perfume site I've seen- extremely thoughful, well-written reviews that intrigue the reader and make them want to know more about each fragrance…my favorite, by far, was 'Scandalous Women'…I teach 'Gender Studies', among other things- and found this piece to be a delight to read- keep it up, Michelyn! As for my favorite Ormand Jayne perfume, I've honestly never tried any of them- but after researching OJ Woman- it sounds sublime!
