Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi (Sofia Bardelli) 2024 +Sicilian Palace Giveaway

Xerjoff Casamorati Quattro Pizzi by Olya Bar

For those who may not be familiar with Casamorati, this line of vintage perfumes by Xerjoff is a fragrant tribute to the golden age of Italian perfumery. Each scent resurrects the storied history of the C. Casamorati Perfume Factory, founded by Claudio Casamorati in 1888 in Bologna. Known for its luxurious fragrances and bath soaps, Casamorati quickly gained international recognition, receiving prestigious awards and even the admiration of Queen Margherita of Savoy, who gifted Casamorati her gold pin as a token of appreciation. Despite its early success, the house fell into decline during the mid-20th century due to financial difficulties, fading into obscurity until Sergio Momo, the creative director and visionary behind Xerjoff, breathed new life into the brand, restoring it to its former glory.

Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi Ingredients.

This summer’s release has quickly become one of my favorites from the collection, as Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi stands out as a fragrant homage to one of Sicily’s most iconic palaces; it feels close to my heart as Italy happens to be one of my favorite countries. Drawing inspiration from the Casa Florio Quattro Pizzi, a grand residence steeped in the history of Palermo’s most prominent families, this fragrance transports you to the opulent world of the Belle Époque, where beauty, nobility, and secrecy intertwine. I enjoyed visiting it many years ago during my studies abroad in Italy. Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi brings back those beautiful memories flooding back. It’s like a stroll through the sun-drenched terraces of the Quattro Pizzi palace, where vibrant flowers spill over the railings and the Mediterranean Sea shimmers in the distance. The balconies, adorned with intricate cast iron railings crafted by the renowned Oretea Foundries, invite you to explore further. Inside the palace is a kaleidoscope of multicolored frescoes and elegant, flower-filled rooms that seem to echo the stories of those who once lived there. Each corner of this neo-Gothic marvel is alive with memories—of grand celebrations, whispered intrigues, and lives lived to the fullest. The very walls seem to hold the secrets of the families who called this place home, their spirits accompanying you as you wander through the past.

Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi review

Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi by Olya Bar

Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi carries with its spritz the ancient days of Sicily’s untold stories; a juxtaposition of sweet and spicy hits the senses on first spray with a boozy splash of rum, davana, and pink pepper, like a beautiful cocktail of mischief. Wicked heart notes of tuberose smell of danger, grandeur, and the lavish gardens surrounding the villa. There is so much sensuality in this perfume, which lingers like a lover’s forbidden touch on the skin long after the sun goes down. The nutty touch of coconut in the heart rounds up the opening of rum, bringing warmth and balminess to the surface. At the same time, the sweetness of blonde tobacco in the base paired with hay creates a balance of dry, almost herbal aspects, which brings the beautiful memories of a very particular smell of dry herbs in Sicily, which is so prominent during the summer heat.

The scent of the Belle Époque, of the stories the palaces of the past have seen and the famous guests of these rooms which ranged from loyalty, to the Sicilian dynasty members and beyond. What can I say? I’m a romantic and always seek a good story, especially an olfactory one.

Notes: Rum, Davana, Pink Pepper, Coriander, Tuberose, Coconut, Hay, Blonde Leaf Tobacco, Tonka Bean.

Yeah, everyone is really talking about Quattro Pizzi but I wasn’t aware of where the inspiration came from and that Casamorati has been around since 1888. I do see that number in many of their bottles but never put 2 and 2 together. On to the star of the show, I can see the coconut and tuberose notes making it feminine but then the rum and tobacco additions turn it masculine so this sits right in the middle for me. It’s summery, but also has notes that can be worn in the fall and other seasons as well. I love Olya saying it carries Sicily’s untold stories because I can see the mix of all the notes bringing you to an era long lost. Even to the design of the bottle and the art, it looks very Roman Catholic inspired. The bottle’s color resembles that of coconuts which is one of the star notes of the fragrance. A beautiful review indeed! I’m located in the USA.

  • There is nothing to add to Olya’s review she described it pretty well. Notes: Rum, Davana, Pink Pepper, Coriander, Tuberose, Coconut, Hay, Blonde Leaf Tobacco, Tonka Bean.
Out of all notes listed I get creamy white flowers and tuberose most of it.
    I am from USA
Thanks for the giveaway Twisted Lily

Hi there, I was most struck by this line: “Wicked heart notes of tuberose smell of danger, grandeur, and the lavish gardens surrounding the villa.” Tuberose seems to have been following me around lately, so I really took notice when I read this! I don’t yet have a favorite from Casamorati…Thank you for this giveaway. I am based in NYC.

Xerjoff is a brand that stands out amongst its competition. From the packing to the use of high end ingredients they are a taste of luxury. I’ve never had the pleasure of owning one but I hope to the near future. The rum in the top really interests me as well as the dry tobacco in the base. Would love to win, from Jacksonville, NC

I love this part: “ It’s like a stroll through the sun-drenched terraces of the Quattro Pizzi palace, where vibrant flowers spill over the railings and the Mediterranean Sea shimmers in the distance.”

Olya’s review is fantastic describing the sensuality of this perfume. rum notes/pepper/davana/ along with tuberose and floral notes! My kind of mix!

  • I love how this fragrance is described, the notes sound like a perfect blend! My favorite is Lira, although I’ve only ever tried 2!

  • I’m really excited about the Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi! The combination of rum and tobacco definitely calls me. As as big fan of rum colognes, I would love to try out this one on me. My current favorite with Rum is Straight to Heaven by Kilian. From what I’ve read, this fragance has a unique twist with its sweeter, powdery coconut notes, which makes me even more intrigued to experience it.
I don’t yet have a Casamorati fragrance in my collection, but I do have Erba Pura by Xerjoff and absolutely loved it. The quality and prestige of Xerjoff fragrances are amazing. I’m eager to see how the 1888 Quattro Pizzi measures up. The way it blends the boozy splash of rum with the warmth of coconut and the nuanced sweetness of blonde tobacco sounds like a dream olfactory journey for me. Can’t wait to try it. Thank you for the review. I live in the USA.

This review of Quattro Pizzi has me highly intrigued and most interested in trying this fragrance. From the Davana, tuberose and rum, to the hay, tobacco and tonka bean, I’m all in. The story told here of the inspiration is a step into history, which I love. I can’t wait to smell this for myself. My favorite Casamorati is Lira, I cannot get enough. I live in Oregon.

  • This one sounds like a real stunner. I have not yet tried any of the Casamorati line, but I have tried a few Xerjoff fragrances. I really love how they handle boozy notes (such as those in the two Tony Iommi scents), so I was excited to read about the use of rum in this one. I imagine it works beautifully with the coconut and tobacco. I’m also curious to experience the herbal tones that Olya talked about. Best of luck to everyone. I live in NC, USA.

Wow! What a beautiful review! I am going to Italy on vacation this week and love the vivid description of the castle, balconies and secrets! Sounds so mysterious! As far as notes, I love the combination of sweet tuberose and coconut with the rum and tobacco. I loved reading about the history of Casamorati 1888. I can’t wait to smell more Casamorati and Xerjoff fragrances on my trip to Italy in a few days. So far my favorite Casamorati fragrance is Lira.

  • A nice review that captures the essence of this fragrance and brings it to life! The intriguing blend of notes-especially rum, coconut, pink peppers, and tobacco-evokes the mystique of the Belle Époque. I’ve smelled and liked Casamorati Lira, and I’m excited at the chance to win this one!

Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi sounds like a gorgeous scent! I adore tuberose and Olya’s description makes this fragrance seem sensual, opulent, and historic — I especially enjoy the line “wicked heart notes of tuberose smell of danger, grandeur, and the lavish gardens surrounding the villa.” I also am interested in this pairing of tuberose with the tobacco and tonka bean note. I do not own any Casamorati perfumes but Xerjoff has a reputation of amazing quality fragrances.

This sounds like an awesome fragrance. I love Italy and we actually made a pit stop in the beautiful city of Bologna.

This sounds like it would be right in my fragrance wheelhouse with the notes of rum, pink pepper, coconut & tobacco.

The presentation is amazing and this would be my 1st real experience with the house of Xerjoff Casamorati 1888. I would love to add this to my collection.

Thanks Olya for a very informative article. I enjoyed learning about the history of the Casamorati Line.

  • I’m aware Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi is praised by so many fragrance lovers online , I see Olya Bar is a big fan too so i guess I’ll have to order a sample.
Through 1888 Quattro Pizzi people worldwide could imagine Palermo and Sicily in general , and its rich culture , historical sightseeings , but also its seductive and sensual nature.
Everything in the fragrance feels so well blended , Olya made me think of of being in Palermo, making and later on eating Coconut Rum Cake while just hanging out in the city , Pastry Chef can’t stay still
The best Casamorati, the best Xerjoff , and one of the best gourmands ever is called … Italica. Smells very, and I mean very similar to Toffee Almond Cake (traditional recipe) , famous Italian Cake.
Appreciate Olya introduction to Casamorati and letting us know about its rich history , the review, and the giveaway campaign

  • Beautiful description of this gorgeous fragrance. I am familiar with the Casamorati line and most of them I adore. So happy Sergio got this house thriving again. Flowers over the railings with the sea in the background sounds like a place I’d love to go. Thanks Twisted Lily for sponsoring this giveaway. My favorite is Dama Bianca. USA.

“…and even the admiration of Queen Margherita of Savoy, who gifted Casamorati her gold pin as a token of appreciation”

Wow talking about achievement, such an amazing extra detail i was not aware of , I absolutely love it. If you’re into more formal dressing wear your heart on your sleeve with a gold ribbon pin on your lapel. It’s a worldwide recognized advocacy symbol and gesture of support , and it demonstrates dedication to a cause. Nowadays It’s a great way to educate communities about medical and social causes, mental health issues, as well as raise money for research.
Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi already caught in the hype on social media, the is not only is inspired by region of Sicily , Palermo is one of most beautiful, wild and passionate cities in Italy.
Ideally balanced , multifaceted sweet, slightly boozy floral warm spicy fragrance , and it’s made by Xerjoff? Not to mention Olya genuinely loves the way it smells . Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi is special , there’s even tobacco and balminess too , I believe I’d feel in good spirits wearing it.
Michelyn told us some time ago it’s all about craftsmanship for Sergio Momo, it’s safe to say everything in Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi is top notch.

My favorite Xerjoff is Bouquet Ideale. There are so many fragrances from this house that I still need to try, including Quattro Pizzi. Italy is also one of my favorite countries, and I hope to be able to visit again one day. I am in the USA.

  • As an avid gardener, I like Olya’s memory: “It’s like a stroll through the sun-drenched terraces of the Quattro Pizzi palace, where vibrant flowers spill over the railings and the Mediterranean Sea shimmers in the distance.” I also like the notes of tobacco, rum and coriander. My favorite from Casamorati is 1888. Michigan USA

  • Quattro Pizzi, a beautiful cocktail of mischief? Need you say more? I just love the idea of the dry herbs resembling those of Sicily, a place I often long for. And blonde tobacco has been a recent note that I’ve been having a love affair with.
    -In Chicago

  • I’ve been looking for this fragrance since its release. Sounds like it’s lovely and easy to pull off. Olya did a wonderful job describing it. I am sure it will be love at first sniff for me. Thanks for the draw.

  • I like how Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi is not just a great composition , but it’s made to honor certain period of time and show Sergio Momo love for the region of Sicily.
Clearly fragrance with a character, that has a lot of layers, fresh, floral , sweet , spicy and woody. I love such non-linear artistic perfumes , something to be expected of all Xerjoff lines of course.

“Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi carries with its spritz the ancient days of Sicily’s untold stories; a juxtaposition of sweet and spicy hits the senses on first spray with a boozy splash of rum, davana, and pink pepper, like a beautiful cocktail of mischief. ”

I felt the same way when I smelled thr tobacco in Naxos for the first time . Also enjoyed the way Olya filled us in about Casamorati original history .
Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi is so uplifting , so vibrant … full of past times memories fragrance with a beautiful bottle.
Naxos and La Capitale are my favorite Xerjoff beauties , Casamorati alone I’d say Lira
    Thanks for the draw

  • I’ve been to several cities in Italy, but none in Sicily yet. The Casa Florio Quattro Pizzi is certainly a good reason to go. The neo-gothic architecture and flower filled terraced overlooking the Mediterranean sounds like a romantic setting and perfect inspiration for a sweet and spicy tuberose fragrance with a hit of rum and coconut on a dry, herbal tobacco base. I’ve not tried any of the Xerjoff Casamorati scents yet. MD, USA.

  • I loved Olya’s review of Quattro Pizzi! I like her description of the sensuality of the tuberose and coconut paired with the herbal qualities of the tobacco and hay. I can’t wait to smell this one – thanks for the opportunity to win! I’m in MN, USA and my favorite Xerjoff perfume is Naxos.

  • Thank you for painting a lovely picture of Sicily in your review.

My favorite Xerjoff Casamorati perfume is Lira, and I live in the USA.

  • Olya Bar recollections in terms of historical context added extra worth to the article. I had a fun time learning about Casamorati 19th century roots and the significance of Casa Florio Quattro Pizzi residency in Palermo .
I’m keen on the juxtaposition of sweet and spicy , with rum and pink pepper, nutty touch of coconut, tobacco and balminess, Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi sounds fantastic
I do have a favorite Casamorati fragrance, it’s Dolce Amalfi
Thanks for the draw, from the USA

  • Thank you Olya. I was familiar with Casamorati having already fallen in love with Mefisto Gentiluomo but I was unaware of the history of the brand and how the name got associated with Xerjoff. I also like that Pizzi starts with a splash of rum which I’ve found to be an unexpectedly favored fragrance opening for me. I’m in USA

  • redwheelbarrow says:

Gorgeous review! I didn’t know the history of Casamorati. Tuberose, coconut, and tobacco are among my top ten notes. Your description of “kaleidoscope of multicolored frescoes” among the florals and opulence is such a fitting description. I was able to sample this one and immediately determined this is by far my favorite of the line and perhaps of all of Xerjoff’s fragrances. Thank you for the draw. From the US.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the nice review Olya.

I like reading about the Casamorati lineup and their inspiration. This fragrance has a beautiful presentation. The coolest thing about this fragrance is the juxtaposition of coconut, tuberose with hay, corriander and pink pepper to create this waxy, sweet spicy scent, garnished with the booziness of rum and the beautiful leafy sweetness of blonde tobacco.

I would love to smell this.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • I love the history and the description of how the fragrance unfolds is a lovely journey to Italy in Summer! The notes sound like a combination I would love. I haven’t tried many Xerjoff fragrances as they tend to be a bit beyond my financial scope, but I hear so much good about the House.

  • Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi, sounds like a delicate, and elegant fragrance.

Rum, coconut, tobacco, tonka beam…. Now, add tuberose, and you get an amazing tribute to Sicily.

    From the USA.

  • Woah, that bottle is an attention-grabber; Xerjoff always impresses in that regard, and it’s fitting for a tribute to the Casamorati line. 1888 Quattro Pizzi is heady stuff, full of rich spice and boozy-sweet florals, and the dry-herbal aspect is a nice nod to summer in Sicily. Sounds like a winner.

I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried any Xerjoff perfumes.

  • Learning about Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi was such a delight , Olya is just such great !
The different facets set up by the perfumer are impressive , it’s not just a linear sweet and floral fragrance like i was expecting, it’s way more and it’s also inspired by the Casa Florio Quattro Pizzi the grand residence , important part of Palermo and Sicily history.
There are also some boozy undertones , nutty coconut and herbal aspects – posh fragrance at its best , I need such perfumes in my collection.
I’d wear Quattro Pizzi going out to a date , i’ll look for a sample because my expectations are beyond high
Out of all Xerjoff lines, my favorites are Casamorati Lira and Italica, Opera and Amabile.
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA

What appeals to me about Olya’s review of Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 Quattro Pizzi is how the beautiful soft Tuberose and fruity Coconut interplay with boozy rum, Tobacco, earthy hay. It sounds like the perfect summer fragrance that I would love to try. My favorite Xerjoff Casamorati Perfume is Lira. I am from Ohio, USA.

  • What a beautiful description of your memories of Sicily! I am of Italian heritage, and yet, I have never had the pleasure of visiting. I love the notes of tuberose and coconut. But your description of the drydown “the sweetness of blonde tobacco in the base paired with hay creates a balance of dry, almost herbal aspects, which brings the beautiful memories of a very particular smell of dry herbs in Sicily, which is so prominent during the summer heat” is not something I would have imagined it smelling like. It sounds incredibly gorgeous! Xerjoff is one of my favorite perfume houses but I only own 2 different fragrances. I’d love have this be my 3rd!
    I live in the US.

  • After three months of badgering from my husband, I literally just bought the 30ml of the Quattro Pizzi and immediately have regrets I didn’t get the 100ml. Originally, I was just happily enjoying Mefisto on him as my favorite Casamorati, and generally wrote off the other more feminine leaning fragrances as “too gourmand” for me. I also claimed that I didn’t like tuberose and coconut, but then I fell in love with Quattro Pizzi and now it’s a standout in my collection…

Olya’s storytelling and love of the romantic journey is fully on display here: it actually truly gives voice to the development of the scent itself. Brava from New York on the accurate verbal description on this fragrance!

  • I have a soft spot for Italy , marketing geniuses like Sergio Momo , Xerjoff and also as historian myself I’m not surprised I can learn something new every day:

“Casa Florio Quattro Pizzi, a grand residence steeped in the history of Palermo’s most prominent families…”

Correct , Florio family also know as “The lions of Sicily” were business magnates involved in multiple trading and political activities . From exporting all kinds of local Sicilian products, but also mining, shipbuilding and so on. So called Casa Florio also know as Palazzina dei Quattro Pizzi all’Arenella is in neo-Gothic style , and the name , just like the name of the fragrance comes from the four turrets emerging from the roof.
Quattro Pizzi is in my opinion very hard to describe, since it’s a big time changeling and Olya did a marvelous job. My opinion of the fragrance is quite similar to hers, with just a few exceptions but I also like to say , just Like Olya stated in her live from Twisted Lily account 2 days ago… try before you buy.
The opening is green and boozy , then there’s some tropical coconut and bubble gummy tuberose, and in the base at least on the skin there’s a lot of tobacco, and I mean a lot. Where I differ from Olya’s opinion is mostly the tobacco and the herbal aspect. Personally I get little to no herbal nuances, and the tobacco is the most prominent note in the base with cozy coconut, rum and tuberose in the background.
I love a lot of Xerjoff fragrances, so it’s really hard for me to pick my top 3 , depending on my mood:
    1. Mamluk
    2. Alexandria II / Empiryan
    3. Tony Iommi Monkey Special
If In a mood for Casamorati fragrances
    1. Italica
    2. Lira
    3. Quattro Pizzi/Dolce Amalfi
    All profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg

Olya’s review painted a beautiful picture of Belle Epoque Sicily, with opulent palaces and gardens. The rum, davana, and pink pepper sound sound lavishly wonderful, and yes, a bit dangerous . The coconut note really intrigues me.

  • Sergio Momo, like almost all Italians i met truly love his country , cherish Italian culture, and is proud of his heritage, I love it. Olya Bar introduction was helpful to me, to sort of feel better the so spirit of Casamorati Quattro Pizzi , so tight to Bologna and Sicily, so enigmatic.
When I think of it , I like everything about the fragrance the coconut, the creamy tuberose , and especially the rum and tobacco . No questions asked , provocative and flirtatious perfumery at best.
The best Xerjoff fragrances in my opinion are Cruz del Sur II , followed by Golden Dallah , and then comes my old love Casamorati Lira.

  • I’d love to try this, the notes are not like anything I own. Curious about the way the nutty coconut and blonde tobacco play off each other. And something with rum! I am in California.

  • My favorite is 1888. Quattro Pizzi sounds unisexy with its notes of rum and coconut. I like Olya’s description of it being “like a beautiful cocktail of mischief.” Thanks for another wonderful review and draw. MI USA
