Jan Wilhem Algren is a story teller of scent. Each carefully curated fragrance in the collection is a personal memory or an imagining of bygone eras. He founded Vilhelm Parfumerie which is named for his debonair grandfather Vilhelm in 2015. We have reviewed Sr. Editor Lauyrn Beer’s favorite “Lilac a Day”.

Composed by the famous perfumer Jerome Epinette of Robertet in 2015, it was one of the first in Mr. Algren’s “library of perfumes”; specifically Mr. Algren’s memory of playing chess with his grandfather on a beautiful summer day in Sweden. Morning Chess brings to mind classic fragrances— with its sharp green bite of galbanum, burst of bright bergamot  and a touch of smoky leather. -Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

  • Sebastian’s review really piqued my interest in this fragrance. He really knows his stuff when it comes to describing beautiful scents. Bergamot and leather sounds absolutely divine. I’ve never tried anything from this house before but I’d love to. Thanks for the great review and the great giveaway. Commenting from Kentucky USA.

I tried this fragrance a few years ago such amazing fragrance just never got a bottle. Love how Morning Chess it delvoped into a beautiful green leather fragrance with just a touch of pineapple ever that note is not listed. Enjoyed watching Sebastian his description of fragrance is very accurate . Live in North Carolina. Thank you for giveaway.

  • Such a beautiful and honest description, bravo Sebastian!!!
Bergamot, fruity touch, than green, smoky leathery quality and galbanum with a bitter citrusy aroma- sounds very funny and serious in same time
Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Vilhelme parfumerie.

I tried out all the Vilhelm scents back at Barney’s Madison. Never owned one – would love to.

Pettigrain and galbanum are two of my favorite notes, so Sebastian’s description sounds great to me.

I live in Nashville, TN USA.

  • I trust when Sebastian says it is a fantastic fragrance. Bergamot complements well with galbanum and vice versa. This is a chess lover fragrance like me. IL, USA.

  • So much buzz about Vilhelm. I see it on Instagram all the time and didn’t know which one to start with. It was a great video by Sebastian and I didn’t know about the background in Sweden.

Always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews – so much information, but he keeps it as short as possible and I appreciate that.
Morning Chess with the bright citrus and leather base hits the mark because I love the combination in frags – the sharp/green vibe is the cherry on top for me.

Really enjoyed Sebastian’s review. The comp fragrances he highlighted are some I really like to wear. What got me was how he talked about the interplay of the Bergamot and Galbanum. This is an intriguing offering that I would spray often but I’ve not tried any from this house. Really appreciate the opportunity for the giveaway! Best from Virginia, USA.

  • Not heard of this house before but I liked Sebastian’s review because this fragrance is in common with other similar freshies that I like as well. It has fruity woody profile like Cedrat Boise, Hacivat and Aventus which I have and like. Thanks for the giveaway. From the US.

  • I liked how Sebastian described the juicy sweet and fruity nuances of the Bergamot. That makes it more appealing to me. Still not sure about the leather. I like it in very small doses. I haven’t tried anything from this house so very new to it. US based.

  • Thanks to Sebastian’s review, would love to have this bottle with the Juicy Bergamot, as she said in the same wheel house as Creed Aventus or Nishane Hacivat

  • “Fantastic” smell with green herbal touches and “crowd pleasing” sounds great. Helpful to know that even though there is leather it leans towards smokey than overly leathery. Not familiar with Vilhelm Parfumerie but thanks for the review and draw. I live in the US.

  • Gail Gresko says:

Sebastians poetic description of the notes and their interplay with each other makes me want Morning Chess. I was not familiar with Vilhelm Parfumerie before. I love the balance between the bergamot and the galbanum and then the warmth and grounding of the leather and patchouli.

I’d love to receive your giveaway and would proudly wear and promote this fragrance. I’m in the Cleveland, Ohio area!!!

  • I’ve been eyeing this brand for some time and I’m glad to see Sebastian’s review. Finally! He does a great job giving an idea of what to expect.
I hope to win a bottle of this and add to my perfume collection!

  • atstraight says:

I am only familiar with them because of this fragrance as it has made it’s way around the youtube fragcom a little! Sebastian can literally get me pumped up about any fragrance and he didn’t disappoint. I want to try it even more now… PA, USA

  • Carl Sabado says:

I am familiar with Vilhelm Parfumerie as i have a sample of Morning Chess. What i like about Sebastian’s review is that it has similarities with being a crowd pleaser just like Aventus but is different enough and goes on a different direction. In my opinion, more mature and very smoky.

  • Brandon Johnson says:

Another great video. Another fragrance I’ve never heard of. Always like learning about new fragrances. Sébastien makes this sound wonderful and I can’t wait to try it.

  • foxesandfigs says:

I was very excited seeing Sebastian review Vilhelm Parfumerie because it’s a brand that’s been on my radar. I have a travel size of Peony Couture which I love but haven’t had the ability to try others yet. I saw the beautiful bottle in my subscription list and I had to click on it.

I enjoy Sebastian’s perspective and knowledge of scents. I like that he breaks down how the bergamot is juicy and the galbanum has a bitter tone like petitgrain. It gives such a clear picture of how these scents work in this fragrance.

    I live in Oklahoma, USA.

  • Michael Chen says:

This is the first time hearing about the brand, but the name morning chess and with what Sebastian describes as being in the same category as Aventus and cedrat Boise has me super interested. I would also love to wake up in the morning, play chess on my phone while wearing this fragrance.

  • Bryant Worley says:

Sebastian provided an excellent, and unique review of this fragrance. Others have reviewed this fragrance before, but he is the only one who helped us to appreciate that the sharp, bitter greenness of the galbanum was offset by the bright, juicy bergamot, making it quite wearable and desirable. Then he said that that goodness melded well with the other notes to put it into the same ballpark as Aventus, Cedrat Boise and Hacivat. WHEW!! Definitely have to get my nose on this. Thanks to Europerfumes/Eden Square for this giveaway.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Vilhelm Parfumerie, an oversight I hope to correct.

I live in Waldorf, MD, USA.

  • Those Bottles are so awesome! Sebastian has a great way of describing this as always and I really enjoyed the review. I have never tried this brand but love Bergamot and have Bergamot Soleil which is apparently the same perfumer! If the bottle matches the scent, I may have to check these guys out for some fall scents also

    Cheers From NY, USA

  • Sebastian says Morning Chess is a citrusy green leather fragrance with smoky elements that is pleasant smelling. It seems Morning Chess is a safe year-round wear. I am in US

Great description of the fragrance like always! I have never tried a Vilhelme fragrance!

  • I have never heard of Vilhelm Parfumerie but i enjoyed the review and i am intrigued by the combination of jucie ripe bergamot and bitter notes of galbamun . Sebastian is the professor of perfumery because he doesnt just review he teaches . I love fragrances and i know Morning Chess would be the center piece of my collection if i won the give away .

  • Joel Collazo says:

Not familiar with Vilhelm Parfumerie, but anything with leather always peeks my interest. Keep up the good work Sebastian

  • Sebastian amazes me with the his wide knowledge of fantastic fragrances. Morning Chess sounds great and I would love to try it. Please enter me in the giveaway. from PA, USA.

  • Very detailed review by Sebastian as always. A fruit citrus tinged leather with a bitter green bite of galbanum sounds delightful for summer. I’ve never tried anything from Vilhelm Parfumerie but I do love that bottle! Commenting from MD, USA.

  • I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews!! I’ve been wanting a bottle of MC for a while, but have never gone for it. I’m glad it’s available again in the USA.

    Thank you!!

  • I love how Sebastian describes the interplay between the top bergamot and the galbanum heart – one is ripe and juicy and the other slightly bitter like petitgrain. I’m intrigued. All this and more wrapped around leather and patchouli accords? Sign me up. I’ve smelled several Vilhelm scents at Barneys in the past. Based in the US.

  • Not familiar with this fragrance. Liked how comprehensive Sebastian’s review was. As based on the notes it sounds like a lovely fragrance. Fingers crossed that I get to try a bottle.
Best of luck from California USA.

  • Cristina Teresa Martinez says:

I respect Sebastian’s taste in fragrance, so I was intrigued that he was reviewing Morning Chess. I love how Sebastian describes the opening of bergamot, berries, and pineapple that anchors down to an earthy base of smoke, patchouli, and woods. It sounds like the perfect office signature fragrance for a casual boss lady like myself!

  • David Webster says:

I like that Sebastian points to the Aventus similarities (a fragcom favorite) but assures it’s not a clone since it goes in a greener direction. I haven’t heard of Vilhelm, but this one sounds lovely! Cheers from Indiana, USA.

  • I love how Vilhelm Parfumerie’s bottles look! As always, Sebastian describes fragrances so nicely. I really love the combination of notes (especially as a fan of Aventus). Curious to see how the fruity aspect of bergamot plays out. Saw this brand at Barneys once, but didn’t end up trying them. Would love to have a bottle of this! From the USA.

  • I liked that Sebastian described this as bitter sweet with patchouli. Sounds like a wonderful fragrance. Thanks for your thoughts! Mich USA

  • Andrew Preuss says:

Although I am not familiar with Vilhem Parfumerie I quite enjoyed Sebastian’s review of the fragrance and am looking forward to try/ sample the fragrance. After doing a little more research on the house and fragrance itself, (and despite this fragrance drawing comparisons to the lately undependable Aventus) I really like how Sebastian has a knack for nailing down the difference in notes/vibes and how he gives viewers a feel for how fragrances can feel. I always enjoy watching SGFR, look forward to getting my nose on this one!

  • Loved his insight to the fruity nuances the note breakdown and the ability for Chess to be a signature scent. Sounds lovely and something I’d be interested in trying for sure!

  • Marty_McDawg says:

I love that he does his homework on each fragrance. I also love that he finds gems that are less known.

  • Haven’t heard of this house before but would love to try. The bergamot galbanum combination sounds great. Also really love that Sebastian’s reviews always seem honest and objective.

  • Another great review from Sebastian! Very informative as always.Bergamot & leather what an amazing combo. Unfortunately, not familiar with Vilhelm Parfumerie though.
    Florida, USA

  • Always enjoy Sebastian review, he put so much passion, and detail to describe the fragrance. Morning chess sound really great, citrusy burst similar to opening of aventus, but move on the leathery vibe. I haven’t able to try Vilhelm Parfumerie. The closest to Sweden parfum house that I test out is tauer.

  • I just received a sample set of Vilhelm perfumes in the mail from LuckyScent this afternoon and I look forward to wearing them. I enjoy Sebastian’s review of Morning Chess because he describes each note, as well as how they interact. I love that he compares to other fragrances that are well known but also distinguishes how a parfumier can bring out certain aspects or mute others.

  • Natalia306 says:

What to not enjoy about Sebastian’s YouTube video review on Morning Chess Vilhelm Parfumerie. Great description as always! Freshness in the beautiful bottle. I will always appreciate Morning Chess in Florida. Thanks for Giveaway.

  • Jake Dauod says:

What I enjoyed the most about Sebastian’s review was how he described the progression of the fragrance. I also like that he pointed out that he gets other notes than just the ones listed and his review provided me with so much information that just a note breakdown could not do. I am familiar with Vilhelm Parfumerie but I haven’t gotten the chance to smell any of their offerings. Kind regards from Illinois, USA.

  • Diane Davis says:

I have not smelled this scent but I have purchased others from this house, it was a compelling review comparing it to a powerhouse such as Nishane Hacivat and I would definitely like to test it.

  • His breakdown of the notes are always helpful, along with his comparisons to other fragrances.

  • The description of notes such as bergamot, leather, galbanum sound right up my alley. Leather can be tricky for me, but a green leather…that sounds great! Thanks for the rev iew and the giveaway. USA

  • Sebastian breakdown of this fragrance made it sooo inviting. He described every note that he sensed at testing this fragrance. Great review.

  • AS always Sebastian has a way of describing fragrances that make them easier to want to go out and purchase. As such I’ll be looking for this and Purple Fig in the mail.

  • I have heard of this fragrance and compariaons to Aventus. I really liked that Sebastian didn’t lean on that comparison he really explained this frsgrance itself and how it is different from fragrances like Aventus. I haven’t tried anything from Vilhelm Parfumerie yet but have been researching the line and Mango Skin sounds really nice as well as this and others. Im in the U.S. Thanks for the generous draw.

  • Love how Sebastian describes the fresh – bitter combo of bergamot and galbanum. I have never tried a fragrance from this house but this review made me curious! Summer greetings from Slovakia!

  • I never like fragrances until last year I was introduced to a niche fragrance house Atelier Cologne. I loved their scents and bought a few of them but I got so frustrated with their bad performance. I accidentally saw Sebastian’s videos 2 months ago. I love how knowledgeable he is about perfumery. I learned a lot from his videos, not only which scents is good, also learned other technical things like performance, silage, information of variety of notes and ingredients etc. So I started blind buying perfume from his recommendations then pick from them according to my personal tastes. I love all I got from his reviews. I only buy niche fragrance and don’t like designer brands. I already got 8 new perfumes in this month. It is my first time hear about Vilhelm Parfumerie since I’m new to the niche fragrance world so I would love to try. Thanks Sebastian for the hard work and great reviews so I can enjoy myself in the perfumery world.

    From Los Angeles, CA USA

  • As a young high schooler who is just getting into the niche fragrance game, I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the details of Morning Chess in Sebastian’s review! Thank you for the opportunity to own this wonderful fragrance.
Best of wishes from the Bay Area, CA!

  • uncle_stinky says:

Sebastian’s description is very detailed – always like just videos. Sounds like a good scent – there is a reason that some houses try the Aventus DNA: it is great.

  • lindseyl1985 says:

I am familiar with seeing these beautiful bottles but have not yet experienced the juice inside of any. I enjoy when Sebastian enjoys a “freshie” scent as this style frag isn’t a typical go to for me and I usually like what he really recommends and enjoys. Thank you for the generous giveaway!

  • Iuno Feronia says:

I like Sebastian’s review – he really knows what he is talking about. This perfume sounds really exceptional, unfortunately I am not familiar with Vilhelm Parfumerie but I think this would suit my father perfectly. Thanks for the draw, I live in Europe.

  • zajeckicajec says:

Would love to have it, but it’s very hard to get it where I live. Love the green scents… 🙂

  • New brand to me. Sounds like a unique warm weather fragrance. Good description of the note development. US

  • With such a small amount of notes listed, I love how Sebastian was able to give his interpretation of what he’s smelling. This fragrance just sounds gorgeous – sparkling and uplifting! I’m not too familiar with Vilhelm Parfumerie but I’ve heard of Morning Chess before. I live in the USA.

  • As always, Sebastian’s review was enthusiastic and informative. This sounds wonderful and now I understand (from Ca Fleure bon) where the name comes from! Never heard of this house but looking forward to trying this. Thank you for the review and for the draw! In the us

  • I like that Sebastian shares important information but keep it short and explained the notes very well plus I saw that stunning bottle, minimalist classy yet modern was in love.

    Commenting from New York

  • Sarah Wachholtz says:

I always love Sebastian’s detailed description of the fragrance he reviews and how it changes through the dry down. I found it essential how he differentiated Morning Chess from it’s usual comparison, Aventus. Sure there’s similarities in the notes, but it’s crucial to show how they are not a clone, an individual scent on its own accords.

  • As an entry level fragrance consumer, I have not heard of Vilhelm Parfumerie, though I am definitely interested after your review. You noted bergamot as one of the main notes in this scent which is intriguing as I am a fan of bergamot tea. I had not heard of galbanum before, so I’d love a shot at trying this fragrance out to learn more about that. Thank you for the thoughtful and informative review and generous giveaway opportunity.

  • Pedro Candelaria says:

Is an interesting fragance for summer time. Hope I can get a sample or a full bottle.

  • I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews, this is probably the 10th I’ve watched this week. The juicy Bergamot-blackberry-crunchy green apple opening sounds delightful and uplifting, then bitter tomato leaf ~ ‘there’s bitterness in the heart’ ~ was a good line, haha, settling into patchouli, one of my favorite notes. I’ve tried Smoke Show from this house, very lovely, and my to-sample list from Vilhelm Parfumerie is Lilac a Day…
    Venice, US

  • Heard so many great things about Morning Chess but I’ve yet to try it! Sebastians videos are always so informative. Thank you for this opportunity! USA

  • This is the first time I am hearing of the brand, but the name and notes piqued my interest! I wonder if the fragrance holds a more linear scent on clothes! Thanks for the giveaway and review Sebastian! Much respect and love from SF!

  • I remember sampling this a few years ago, and loved it! Wasn’t what I was in search of at the time, but made a great impression. Sebastian is right on in describing the fresh opening followed by a gently smoky leather. A cheerful but contemplative masculine scent. I remember thinking it would be a lovely coming-of-age gift for my chess-loving son. Thanks for the opportunity to enter this generous draw!

  • Listening to Sebastian with his knowledge of fragrance and enthusiasim is so pleasurable! Morning Chess with the beautiful notes of Bergamont, galbanum, and leather sound delightful. How nice to remember playing chess with your grandfather! Love the idea of the Vilhelm brand. I have never sampled it. USA

  • I really enjoyed Sebastian review and intrigued by “leathery quality” with fresh citrusy and “like petit grain” galbanum. Sounds very fresh but with strong character.
Michelyn’s short conclusion put finally dot – I want this perfume.
    USa

  • Every review Sebastian does always makes me want to smell my phone. The way he describes the fragrance is as if I can virtually smell it. I’ve know about the brand for several years now and absolutely love “room service” as well as Opus kor”. I don’t recall ever smelling this one however, but if it smells as good as Sebastian describes it, I am sold. Hope that I one day get to add one of Vilhelms perfumes to my collection. Maybe I get lucky today 😀

  • patrick_348 says:

I am not familiar with Vilhelm Perfumerie, but enjoyed Sebastian’s review. I liked how Sebastian got specific about how the bergamot in Morning Chess is different from other bergamot notes and how the galbanum is different from other scents’ use of that same note. I am in the US in North Carolina.

  • William Gorden says:

Sebatian has a great talent. By just using the right words he conjures up fragrance notes that I can almost smell! That surely takes a lot of knowledge and a teacher’s sensibilities.
Regarding Morning Chess: I love the combination of bergamot and leather — the leather being the drum roll topped by cymbal crash of bergamot. I have heard the buzz around this fragrance and could almost, almost smell it because it was described so well in S’s video. So now I must try this on my skin! Thank you all for the video,- the give-away and the fellowship of fragrance lovers.

  • Chess in the morning with a cup of coffee, sounds great. hope i win the draw. Thank you for the offer.

  • As an avid chess player I already knew I had to try for this! And to celebrate memories with your grandfather is a great idea behind a scent!

  • Andrei Artimon says:

Really love how Sebastien brings new houses for us to learn about , never hear about this brand , but very intrigued that is in the same realm as aventus , hacivat or cedrat boise , new york , usa .

  • I enjoyed how knowledgeable he seemed about the fragrance industry in general.
I had not actually known about this house before his video.

  • Vilhelm Parfumerie is new to me. Sebestian’s review was a great introduction to the parfumerie. He described Morning Chess as if he knew I was in search of a lucious fruity, nuances of smokey leather, and a patchouli drydown journey fragrance. I live in SW Florida and I know Saks carries the line but not my location. This is a must have for me.

  • I think I’ve heard the name of this fragrance before, but I knew nothing about it or the house. It’s a very strange but interesting bottle. I like Sebastian’s use of descriptors such as crisp, crunchy green apple and juicy pineapple. He should write menus for restaurants. It gives the viewer a better idea of what the fragrance smells like. I’m in IL, USA for the giveaway.

  • I really enjoyed Sebastian’s review. The drydown sounds terrific with patchouli and black amber. I also really love the name of the fragrance!
    I live in Pennsylvania (USA)

  • immortano26 says:

O my favourite reviewer strikes again. Bergamot is a badass note especially with leather i agree with Sebastian on that. The whole composition makes sense and i think it might be a versitale fragrance. For the price i would expect the bottle to be nicer to be honest. I live outside US so good luck everyone

  • Kyle Hipsman says:

I keep hearing fantastic reviews about Morning Chess recently! Sebastian certainly reinforces all the positive reviews and comments I continue to hear. Would absolutely love to try this one especially during this time of year.

  • I love that Sebastian review brands I never heard of. Maybe they are big in frag community but for me its breaking news. I never heard of Vilhelm Parfumerie but love to test to see if they are great.

  • I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews. The way this perfume evolves sounds so nice, with that fruity open, green and leather mid, and patchouli ambery base. It sounds bright and lovely. I haven’t tried anything from this house before. I live in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Really enjoyed the review of Morning Chess on Smelling Great Fragrance Reviews. As always his insight as to the nature of fragrances and their nuances (his description of the bergamot was so detailed). He has me sold on trying this scent out (although the giveaway bottle would be a pleasant surprise).

  • THIS is the one I’ve been wanting to try. Seen quite a few reviews on Morning Chess lately, as well as some others from the brand, but since there’s never a bad time to wear an appealling fragrance, I’ve been hoping to try this one first. Love to hear that the galbanum comes off like petitgrain, since that’s one of my all time favourite notes. Those herbally qualities are what make leather fragrances for me. Another great review from Seb! USA

  • I have never heard of this fragrance prior to Sabastian’s video. I love that he describes the top as “juicy bergamot,” which is some of my favorite notes. USA

  • I was not familiar until this video and became more intrigued after other suggested videos. The scent description from the video makes it sound like it has great depth while using familiar notes.

  • Enjoyed Sebastian’s review on Morning Chess.
I haven’t got the chance to try Vilhelm Parfums.
They seem like a Great House and Morning Chess sounds really nice. I like the juicy fruit opening. Thanks for the draw, Ca

  • redwheelbarrow says:

Sebastian has great taste and this one sounds really good. Bergamot with smoky leather and herbal touches sound like a great combination for summer to fall. I have not yet had the opportunity to try any perfumes by Vilhelm. Thank you for the draw. I’m in the US.

Thank you for the great review Sebastian.

I’ve heard a lot about Vilhelm Perfumery for a while now and I’m curious to try them out.

I like how you mention that there is more going on to the fragrance than listed. A sweet bergamot is something that I’ve not experienced before. The bitters aspects of the galbanum makes for a good foil.

    Regards from WI, USA

  • Actually I heard about Vilhelm Parfumerie just recently so I have never tried it before, although planning to.
Morning Chess intrigued me before, but when I saw the review, it made me think I have to try this. Guess the leather note should beautifully and in some way unexpectedly base the bergamot and the fruitness.
    I am from EU.

  • No experience with Vilhelm Parfumerie, yet. I enjoyed Michelyn’s introduction and of course the details provided in Sebastian’s video. It seems to be a happy, uplifting, cheerful fragrance for my walk to my home office 🙂 I like the fresh citrusy quality of Morning Chess, especially bergamot as it’s a very uplifting scent. Thanks for the draw and the review. Writing from the USA.

  • m.r.everything says:

I read about Morning Chess a few years ago and it caught my interest almost immediately. The notes and backstory just threw me for a loop and made me want to try it. There are a few on my list, actually, that I would like to get a hold of from Vilhelm Parfumerie. I think Jerome Epinette is a fantastic perfumer and enjoy almost every one of his creations I have put my nose to. Sebastian says this is in the same ballpark as Aventus, Hacivat, and Cedre Boise, but not the same as those fragrances. This intrigues me, because who doesn’t like Aventus, but at the same time, there are so many clones and fragrances just like it, so I really enjoy Sebastian stating that it is similar, but not the same. I loving the fact that it is greener, more bitter, and a little smokier than the previously mentioned fragrances. One I definitely have to try…. Thank you, Sebastian, for your thoughts and take on Morning Chess. You have cleared a few things up for me and kept this one on my want list. A big thank you to Europerfumes / Eden Square for your generosity and this amazing opportunity! Thank you, Michelyn, for everything you do for this fragrant community, and for putting this all together! Without you, none of this would be possible! Sending warm wishes and love from Delaware, US. Good luck all and stay safe friends!

  • I like that Sebastian does not only the note breakdowns but that he goes into detail to describe the the “feel” or vibe of this fragrance. I am not yet familiar with this brand though I am working my way down a long list of brands. I am fortunate enough to have the chance of visiting NYC often so I am sure I will get a chance to get my nose on it soon. Thank you as always for the giveaway! I am from Tennessee USA.

Another amazing review by Sebastian Jara. He has an amazing way of describing fragrances and notes and how they come across. Vilhelm Parfumerie Morning Chess sounds so good. A mass appealing vibe with green and juicy bergamot, greenness bite coming from the galbanum, and a smoky and smooth leather. I haven’t heard of Vilhelm Parfumerie prior to this review. I am from the USA.

  • I’m not quite sure what to expect with green smoky leather. It sounds fantastic, sebastian! Vilhelm perfumery has been on my radar because the bottles look so iconic, however never had the pleasure trying one. Marit, UK

Sebastian did a fantastic job of describing Morning Chess. I would absolutely love to have a bottle of this. I live in South Carolina.

Juicy bergamot, greenness, leather, Morning Chess screams class , a bit mature maybe?
I’d gladly wear it with a suit.
Unfortunately I have no experience with Vilhelm Parfumerie .

  • Morning Chess reminded me of wearing leather jacket, and eating Blueberry and Lime Coffee Cake i do on regular basis at my bakery.
I do know one Vilhelm Parfumerie fragrance called Mango Skin, just a sample but still. Love the smell and taste of mango , and i had to try it. One of the best mango fragrances on the market.
Appreciate the review, Michelyn introduction and the giveaway campaign

I’m a big fan of galbanum, so this sounds like something I’d really like. (I enjoyed hearing Sebastian tell his viewers to check out Chanel No. 19 to learn about galbanum. I’m definitely a fan of that masterpiece). I am also curious about the other nuances of this fragrance— the fruity and leather notes, in particular. I am only familiar with Vilhelm Parfumerie through reviews. The bottles are beautiful!

    I live in the USA.

  • Other than seeing a few reviews on YouTube, I know almost nothing about Vilhelm Parfumerie .
Bergamot and blackberry crunch combination with smoky base is intriguing.
    Thanks for the opportunity.
    Cheers from VA

  • Morning Chess is my kind of fragrance. Being a barber my love for green , mossy and leathery scents comes naturally. The hint of sweetness is welcome.
I’m not familiar with Vilhelm Parfumerie.
Thanks to Sebastian for the review, and to Europerfumes for the giveaway.USA

  • My favorite part of the review was the comparison to my current favorite fragrance, Hacivat. The fact that it isn’t as beast mode and can be worn in the office is very appealing. Im also looking forward to the fruity and smoky notes.

All three fragrances in the same ballpark as Morning Chess i own , Aventus , Hacivat and Cedrat Boise. “Fresh uplifting, sparkling fruity woody concoctions” i just can’t get enough of. They just work.
I’ve heard about Dear Polly and Morning Chess, but after Barney’s bankruptcy I was under the impression the house is not available in US. Good to know now they work with Europerfumes.
    Exciting giveaway, USA

  • Vilhelm Parfumerie i do not know, but Morning Chess perfumer I’m well aware of.
Jerome Epinette is well known for his fresh, really pleasing natural smelling fragrances.
Bergamot is awesome for the summer, I guess patchouli and leather mixed in will make Morning Chess all year round fragrance.
Please review more Vilhelm Parfumerie fragrances, I’d love to know more.

Judging by the comments, I’m one of the few familiar with Vilhelm Parfumerie.
Yes Morning Chess is not a clone by any means, still bares resemblance to Aventus, not to current batches, but to pre-2014 ones , back when Aventus was much darker, and heavy on the bunch and smoke.
Up to early 2020 i think, 30ml Vilhelm Parfumerie bottles were still available, but not anymore.
Poets of Berlin is my favorite, I know on Cafleurebon crew there are a lot of jasmine and tuberose fans , Don’t Tell Jasmine and Moon Carnival I’m almost certain you’ll enjoy.
Just followed @shopsmallflower , all others i follow for a long time.
    Thanks for the draw

  • I loved the way how he described how the top notes were fruity and you get down to this leathery note and I just find that to be super unique and right down my alley! Thank you so much for this giveaway!

  • I have wanted to try this forever and finally ordered a small sample and I cannot stop wearing it!!
