“Travelling is almost like talking to those of other centuries.” Rene Descartes.

Une Nuit Nomade founders and owners Philippe Solas and Alexandra Cubizolles have created a brand which focuses on specific olfactive destinations.  Jardins De Misfah takes us to a night in Oman (Une Nuit a Oman) and represents a pause and a moment suspended in time. The perfumer behind the fragrance is Takasago’s Jerome Di Marino, (recently featured in Editor- in Chief Michelyn Camen’s Young Perfumer Series and named by Editor Ermano Picco as a Rising Star of 2020. One could imagine my excitement when I received Une Nuit Nomade Jardins De Misfah.

The inspiration for Une Nuit Nomade Jardins De Misfah is the village of Misfah Al Abriyeen, a destination seemingly grown as an extension of the naturally rugged and untouched scenery of this mountainous region in Oman.  Lush springs abound in this heavenly oasis within what is essentially an arid environment is certainly a cause to pause and take in mysterious surroundings.  Agricultural terraces allow for local produce of exotic fruits such as mangoes, papayas and dates to be cultivated and this vibrant vegetation is contrasted with the mountain slopes. The auburn sunset must be wonderful to behold, and the sensorial experience of consuming a date is summed up beautifully in the words of Lebanese French author Amin Maalouf, “A bite of date not only contains flesh that nourishes your body, but the sweetness, scent and colour that nourish your spirit.”

I sprayed Jardins De Misfah on the distinctive Une Nuit Nomade blotter, which has an illustration of the oasis and a description of the fragrance on the back of the card.  This is an ingenious idea as this way one not only remembers where to return to the perfume, we also receive a clear vision of what the brand is looking to achieve.  Bravo for this unique touch.  On the blotter the scent is lighter and effusive whereas on my skin it is powerful,  deep and extremely potent.

Une Nuit Nomade Jardins De Misfah review

Une Nuit Nomade Jardins De Misfah with blotter by Karl©

I can understand why Jerome Di Marino was selected to create Jardins De Misfah as he is an olfactive artist who can combine commercial appeal with haute perfumery. This approach is evident from the outset.  Cardamom and nutmeg are a potent combination, and one feels a boozy and exotic cocktail reminiscent of a spiced rum blended with coca cola.  The date accord is there and mingles with rose absolute and rose essence.  The spice I assume comes from the use of saffron and the almond listed adds texture to the experience.  The heart of the fragrance to my nose is all about rose.  Thick, dense and succulent.  On my skin it develops into a rich sweet perfume that is completely unisex and I would certainly recommend it for both men and women.

In the deep base Jardins De Misfah has a slight fleshly undertone which I attribute to the use of saffron and cardamom.  It brings across an almost honeyed experience when the body heats up with the perfume and mingles with your glowing skin it creates a seductive allure.  Fans of boozy and intense fragrances will love Jardins De Misfah and it will garner attention. The simple presentation belies a very luxurious niche perfume which could become a commercial success.

Une Nuit Nomade Jardins De Misfah kindly sent to Karl for review purposes. Thoughts are my own.

Notes: Cardamom, nutmeg, date accord, rose absolute, rose essence, saffron, almond.

This sounds amazing! I love your intro description of the village in Oman and could almost smell the fruits. I love all of these notes so much! Cardamom, nutmeg, dates, and rose sound like it would make an autumnal stunner! This is my first time hearing of this house and I’m so intrigued! Thanks for the draw, from the US.

  • patrick_348 says:

I find interesting that it would appear one has to wait for the rose note to emerge from within the spices and boozy notes. Isn’t it usually the other way around, that we pick up on the rose note first? I like the idea of being in on a fragrance by a young, rising perfumer. I live in the US, in North Carolina.

  • Giorgia295 says:

This sounds good !!! I have tried others from this line and they’re all well done, complex, high quality yet wearble.

I love the photography. As I have decided to avoid all the airline and travel nightmares this summer I would love to win this and travel by scent. The notes are some of my favorites. How can you go wrong with spiced rum and coke. Thanks for the chance. USA.

It makes me wanna smell it immediately. The notes!!! It gives me seductive vibe. I live in Croatia, Europe.

  • I’ve heard the dates and almond in this fragrance are amazing. Also, the rose is there but it’s blended beautifully and mixes so well. I would love to try this! Thanks for the giveaway and good luck to everyone!

  • Karl!! ❤️❤️❤️ This fragrance sounds amazing! What a gorgeous olfactory experience you describe! I would love to see those agricultural land terraces in Oman. The spicy date accord with rose would definitely capture the landscape and history of Oman (with its spice-trading ports & mountain rose). What a way to travel!! ❤️❤️ Thank you for the beautiful introduction & wonderful opportunity! ❤️ USA

I am absolutely not obsessed with rose fragrances! This sounds like it would be a great take on rose I especially love the fact that it is unisex. I love wearing fragrance that has depth and warmth and this sounds like a real dream.

  • Saffron, cardamon and dates remind me of my travel to Iran many years ago. I know its not the same place as Oman but still reading anout Une Nuit Nomade Jardins de Misfah was such a trip down the memory lane!
I live the smart idea of branded blotters- so any times you find yourself with three blotters in the left pocket and four in the right and the two more in the purse and then despite all your best efforts you are left guessing which is which.

  • NituNicolae says:

Nutmeg, date and rose makes for an addicting sweet experience. I love the “coca cola” comparison, and I hope I can agree. Excited for this giveaway. EU

  • Southirina says:

I love the “slight fleshly undertone” that “brings across an almost honeyed experience when the body heats up with the perfume”. I know exactly what this means and is one of my favourite experience with perfumes. When busy and fully focussed on something, when my mind is miles away from HERE and NOW, that whiff of personal intimate scent combined with the base of a fragrance.
Jardins De Misfah has fantastic combination of notes and the blotter idea is so good! Also, I love the pictures.
    Hugs from Romania

  • I liked the comparison of Jardins De Misfah to “a boozy and exotic cocktail reminiscent of a spiced rum blended with coca cola.” Delicious! I imagine it could be worn year round and would really shine at dusk. Thanks for another awesome article and draw. Mich USA

  • Great Review of Jardins de Misfah. I read the article about Jerome Di Marino and I like how Karl wrote that Jerome has the ability to bridge all sorts of pieces. I looked on their website and click song sounds amazing too

  • Nice review Karl! Thanks to Philippe Solas, Alexandra Cubizolles and Jerome Di Marino for taking us to live a night in Oman! To the lush oasis in an arid and mountainous region where exotic fruits are grown . So the perfume is the representation of a sensorial experience of eating a date and the other fruits in a sunset! A powerful and deep experience as you say! Boozy spice precedes her majesty The Rose in a dense, succulent and rich sweet scent! Glowing in this summer heat! Mr.di Martino considers himself a wanderer who loves to travel and discover different cultures, here is the perfect image of this oman oasis! I live in Spain, EU.

  • Love a cocktail inspired drink! Something like an exotic rum and coke frag would totally hit the spot for late summer. Every note in this one truly smells delicious. Cardamom, saffron, yum! If I don’t win, I am still feeling inspired to order a sample. I am from USA.

  • I am super interested in this based on your description of a unisex and potent spicy rose. Sounds just the thing for August. Thank you for the review, writing from the EU.

  • ajraccounts says:

as soon as i read that on the skin this perfume is “powerful, deep and extremely potent” i knew i was interested. also, the description of a lush, verdant mountain oasis nestled and almost hidden within the largely arid environment of oman — to think of a perfume that evokes something like that, i’m completely intrigued! i live in the US.

  • It all sounds amazing and its like you’re in Greece from all the smells like you’re on vacation in Greece.as always great interview and its nice to see new fragrances that are natural and high quality.

  • GennyLeigh says:

Jardins de Misfah sounds like a stroll through a Middle East garden followed by a visit to the spice market. The dates, roses and almonds supported by cardamom, nutmeg and saffron are certainly evocative of a souk. I’ve not been to Oman but I can imagine it’s well represented in this fragrance. MD, USA.

  • wandering_nose says:

For one I am a big fan of boozy and intense fragrances and I love dates, roses and almonds, so to hear of a perfume which was made with the Lebanese saying “A bite of date not only contains flesh that nourishes your body, but the sweetness, scent and colour that nourish your spirit” in mind, is beyond fabulous. Thick, dense and succulent is what I have been searching for. The unisex nature of the fragrance is an added bonus for me. Thank you from the EU

  • The description “one feels a boozy and exotic cocktail reminiscent of a spiced rum blended with coca cola” has me hooked! Saffron and cardamom are two very intense spices that you don’t usually find together in a fragrance. I’ve never tried any scents from this fragrance house but would love for this to be my first.

  • peppermoon says:

Mmm, honeyed dates and spices. Cardamom is one of my favorite notes in perfume. It’s making me crave a favorite snack of mine, medjool dates stuffed with almonds. I haven’t tried anything from this house before but I would love to, their offerings have some interesting notes. I live in the US.

  • Lovely notes and a beautiful description of the Omani village for the context. Karl mentioned that it’s a unisex perfume and intense and that intrigues me as I like intense Arabian perfumes, especially with Oud, though Une Nuit Nomade Jardins De Misfah doesn’t have oud listed. Intense spicy and rosy perfume – I am very interested. Thanks for the review and draw. From the USA.

  • Thanks for the article Karl!

Oman is one of those placed that I have heard of, but I have no idea what it would look like. I am a fan of Amouage so I’m aware of the luxury it oozes and that it’s Middle Eastern so it will be glorious and loud! Your brief introduction sparked a serious interest and I’ll be reading some more about this small state this weekend.

As a fan of Fans boozy and intense fragrances I know I will love Jardins De Misfah!

    Greetings from the EU!

  • I didn’t know about the existance of the village of Misfah Al Abriyeen. It is awesome to know more fragrance houses and even more locations trough these reviews.
I would love to try this fragrance because I love cardamom and dates and I think they would make a perfect combination.

  • Une Nuit Nomade is luxurious niche perfume house. Jardins De Misfah is crafted based on an inspiration of a night in Oman. I also like the distinctive blotter with an illustration and description of the fragrance, that is a brilliant idea. According to Karl’s review, it is a powerful, deep and extremely potent on skin. It has date accord, rose absolute and rose essence. Would really love to experience this fragrance.

  • Jerome di Marino has such an Impressive career for his young age, and he went through a lot , to get where he’s right now. I’m happy he’s the perfumer behind Jardins De Misfah .
Karl take on the fragrance made me think of making, and later eating the traditional Persian Cake with rose petals, saffron, almonds , rose water , and dates. It’s called Kayk-e Eshgh , but more people know it as Persian Love Cake , or Persian Pavlova cake.
I imagined being in such beautiful olfactive destination like Oman , eating Kayk-e Eshgh , sharing is with my girlfriend, while both drinking Rose Petal Black Full-Leaf Tea , and having a great time.
Appreciate the review , and the giveaway campaign

  • I love fragrances that depict a place, or a time, or a setting, and this one is even more appealing, as I’ve never been to the Middle East. Oman has a rich fragrance culture—I’ve learned a bit about it from articles here and a friend of mine. The date accord jumps out; dates are a rare treat for me but a delight every time I have them, and uniquely sweet. Speaking to the presentation, including a blotter with a depiction of the fragrance’s concept is very clever, and memorable, and a very polished touch. Thanks for the review Karl!

  • IvanVelikov says:

Une Nuit Nomade artistic concept is so appealing to me.
Of course, fashion and the senses have long been connected.
Diana Vreeland , the iconic fashion columnist , critique, and editor was the revolutionary in constructing a playful, multi-sensory experience of fashion and perfume.
Everyone who studied fashion knows, or at least should know that in 1972, pioneering Balenciaga exhibition at the NYC Metropolitan Museum of Art, traditional Spanish music was played, and the galleries were constantly sprayed with the scent of Balenciaga’s own Le Dix.
I like Jerome di Marino, and how despite the hard times and disappointments, he stayed in his lane, and never looked back. Amoroud Lunar Vetiver i own, and now I’m interested in Jardins De Misfah because of olfactive trip Oman, and the sophisticated fruity and spicy aroma.

I loved Karl’s review of Une Nuit Nomade Jardins De Misfah is learning how talented young perfumer Takasago’s Jerome Di Marino and how this fragrance is inspired by Misfah Al Abriyeen a mountainous region in Oman. The spiced boozy Coca Cola description sounds truly divine with dates, rose, almond, cardamom, and nutmeg. I would love the opportunity to try this fragrance. I’m from the USA.

  • foreverscents says:

I love fragrances that suggest faraway (for me) places. I have always been fascinated by Oman, so Jardins de Misfah sounds like a fragrance that I would love to wear. I just love intense fragrances with saffron, nutmeg, and rose. The date accord must surely elevate this fragrance to something very special.
    I live in the USA.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I appreciate learning about this fragrance. It seems like one which I would like. I can like fragrances which include rose and spices. Recently, I’ve been enjoying a fragrance which has a date accord. I became even more intrigued, than before, to try this fragrance when Karl said “Fans of boozy and intense fragrances will love Jardins De Misfah”. I live in the U.S.A.

  • Just like Jerome di Marino I had quite a few setbacks in the beginning of my career,I too had mentors i was able to rely on, and and he never stopped believing.
Speaking of Jerome di Marino and Une Nuit Nomade, i own 10ml decant of Ambre Khandjar , fragrance he created. Smells so boozy-good
I like how Karl Topham transported me to mountainous , and mysterious regions of Oman , i need to try Jardins De Misfah. The scent is sweet, fruity, boozy and floral, with a seductive rose in the base.
Such a treat for the senses
    Thanks for the draw

  • I think Une Nuit Nomade has a brilliant concept creating perfumes that take us on on a journey to specific areas and making us feel as though we’re there through a scent creation! So cool! Jardins de Misfah peaked my interest because of the nutmeg and cardamom giving it a boozy feel mixed with coca-cola! That sounds yummy with the overall scent profile being of rose! Thank you for revising this one. I’d love to win a bottle to try it myself!

  • Jardins De Misfah is innovatory , inspired by Oman top quality spicy fruity-floral, with gourmand and rum nuances. I’m in search for beauty and tranquility in all forms , basically all my life , reaching out different results and answers.
With Jardins De Misfah both the beauty , and the tranquility i was looking for are present , how you may ask? With Cuba Libre in my hand, crimson rose in the other , and a bowl of dates in front of me.

Thank you for the great review Karl.

I’m always intrigued by scents from this part of the world. The village of Misfat al Abriyyin is as you have described – a lush mountainous village of mud , with falajes (ancient irrigation systems, that bring mountain springs down in channels), date palm trees, a literal oasis filled with life and mystery.

I love how the notes of this scent evoke the feeling that this place inspires – ancient spice trades, that wonderful date accord paying homage to the abundance of date palms and the use of rose, a material that is used and distilled quite often in this country.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • I’m familiar with all Une Nuit Nomade fragrances ,and if I have to rate my favorite ones

    1. Ambre Khandjar , also my favorite Jerome di Marino composition
    2. Jardins De Misfah
    3. Suma Oriental / Click Song

I’ve been to Oman a couple of times, but never visited Misfah Al Abriyeen, the place looks like a well preserved time capsule from ancient times.
Quite often I’m not on the same page with Karl, but this time I almost fully agree with his review of Jardins De Misfah, just like Ambre Khandjar it’s part of the Une Nuit à Oman line, both sweet, fruity syrupy and boozy . What I personally like the most in the fragrance , is the mixture of molasses like date syrup i clearly perceive, the rum , and the thick voluptuous rose, surrounded by bouquet of spices.
True beauty, worthy for Scheherazade to wear.
All profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg
