Top 10 Indie Fragrances for Winter

Top 10 Indie Fragrances for Winter 2022 @redolesssence

Tuesday December 21, 2021 is the official beginning of winter -the winter solstice and the longest night of the year is here. Days are short and nights are long; winter is the perfect time to cozy up with a wonderfully warming scent. Here are ten all from independent perfumers that Video Contributor Steven Gavrielatos and Editor-in-Chief Michelyn Camen curated for the season. #supportsmallbusines

Best indie fragrances for winter

Top 10 Indie Fragrances for Winter 2022 (in no particular order) photo shows Trayee, Little Song, Calling all Angels and B683 ©redolessence

Rogue Perfumery Derviche II (Manuel Cross) is the 2021 follow up to 2018 Derviche, (an amber laden ode to Emeraude by Coty) Derviche II uses many of the same materials but in totally different proportions. It is an amber, woody incense masterpiece laden with dried fruit and to my nose a fine quality oud hums in the background. The bright sparkling citrus introduction adds freshness and keeps it from being overwhelming or cloyingly sweet-Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Neela Vermeire Creations Trayee (Bertrand Duchaufour ): One of the three inaugural fragrances from the small independent brand headed by  Creative director Neela Vermiere, who grew up in India. Trayee, whose Sanskrit name refers to the first three Vedas (the oldest, most sacred books of India), is one of the most transporting,  spicy incense fragrances I know, and  is a CaFleureBon Modern Masterpiece, Perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour uses a high percentage of natural ingredients: cardamom, clove, elemi and ginger in a sweet-spicy cloud. Creamy jasmine blossoms dipped in golden amber swirl around  Laotian  oud. Deeply contemplative and comforting-MIchelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

April Aromatics Calling all Angels is an all-natural award winning perfume from Berlin based artisan Tanja Bochnig. It is a stunningly composed blend of sweet and smoky; resinous, with a golden ambery honey accord that sets off the frankincense  which wraps around clouds of the soft vanilla. Aptly named, during these times when we might feel despondent, there is an energy emanating from Calling All Angels that is both meditative and healing. This scent is infused with clear crystal and Herkimer diamond as gold flakes dance within. This is what peace smells like- Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Meo Fusciuni Little Song is a blend of tobacco, coffee, rose, and civet. Giuseppe Imprezzabile who is the perfumer writes, “A scent of earth and smoke, of roots and resins. Finally, even time has its own perfume. I keep writing this little song over and over again, like a lullaby. Little song is a narrow space, it is a deep connection with life, with the past. A perfume that shakes the heart, that reaches the bottom of the human soul. [ Little song has been conceived and created listening to the albums: Murder ballads and Skeleton tree by Nick Cave and the bad seeds].-Giuseppe Imprezzabile

Marc-Antoine Barrois B683 (Quentin Bisch) refers to both the book Le Petit Prince (the name of the planet) and to French menswear designer Marc-Antoine Barrois’ and superstar perfumer Quentin Bisch’s boyhood memories of “leather from an elegant attaché case or an immaculate desk blotter; of the distinct smells of wood during the regular gathering of fuel to warm the family home.”   Every note is distinct but harmoniously blended in this classic masculine fragrance which is a truly  multifaceted leather -classic, elegant, bold and spicy. It is one of the few fragrances that I have tried that uses Ambroxan that doesn’t overpower the rest of the composition, Oakmoss adds green woodiness at the drydown. Ganymede might be better known, but B683 is a personal favorite, as it smells perfect on every man I know…. n every single one. It is another much gifted fragrance to the men in my life- Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Which are the best indie perfumes for the winter

photo: Perfumology Clutch, Gallivant Instanbul, Tsvga Parfums Wine & Chocolate, Tauer Au Couer du Desert, January Scent Project Burvuvu ©redolessence

Perfumology Clutch (Justin Federico with Deputy Editor Ida Meister as Evaluator) is a combination of smoke, ginger, and elemi resin. This rich and balsamic fragrance is warm and inviting while the smoke is enigmatic and daring. Notes: smoke, black pepper, elemi; ginger, oak, red cedarleathermusk, vanillaSteven Gavrielatos, Video Content Contributor

Gallivant Istanbul, (Karine Chevallier) is delicious, warm and embracing. Istanbul, the city, is the crossing road between Europe and Asia. In Gallivant Istanbul, you sense the two cultures but also the ancient city and the metropolis and its modernity. There is a play of red thyme meeting tendrils of sweet myrrh (opoponax) and patchouli. Ceremonial coffee, rich and thick cardamom spiced, melts into a base of vanilla and tonka bean. On a side note, I have gifted this fragrance to many. -Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Tauer Perfumes Au Couerdu Desert is a perfume that borrows key notes from L’air du Desert Marocain, and its notes of patchouli, warm woods, and ambergris creates the duality between warm and exotic. – Steven Gavrielatos, Video Content Contributor

January Scent Project Burvuvu (John Biebel) is a combination of three types of cedar wood ingredients with mushroom and henna. Undertones of amber spice and Tonkin musk create the animalic appeal in the base. – Steven Gavrielatos,  Video Content Contributor

Tsvga Parfums Wine & Chocolate (James Barry) is exactly what the name denotes. A gorgeously delicious chocolate note is paired with the booziness of wine for the ultimate exercise in addiction and craving. The depth and richness of the blend makes it the perfume indie fragrance for the winter. – Steven Gavrielatos, Video Content Contributor

All of Steven’s and Michelyn’s Top 10 Indie fragrances for Winter 2022 have exceptional longevity and sillage.

  • I would love to win a bottle of Istanbul. It’s my favorite Gallivant fragrance. Thank you to Michelyn and Steven for introducing me to new indie houses and perfumes! I didn’t know about many of these. ~Indiana

  • I did not know as Michelyn reports that Marc-Antoine Barrois B683 refers to Le Petit Prince also. It seems the story has inspired many brands now as Nishane also did a fragrance. Steven also praises B683 that it is unique and makes him smell like a clean professional.

My choice in this draw is:
    Marc-Antoine Barrois B683

    I am in US.

  • Thanks Steven and Michelyn!

Michelyn’s descriptions are always perfect and to the point. I am amazed how you can manage to encapsulate a fragrance so well with so little words. I’m impressed!

I just watched Steven’s video and appreciated seeing some love for the Indie houses out there. I am sure this will create a lot of well-deserved attention for the viewers who may not have known these brands.

Personally I would love to win Gallivant Istanbul. I have been meaning to explore this brand last year, but haven’t been able to all of their offerings yet. I really should in 2022!

I am following the new @cafleurebonofficial account on my instagram handle @ronaldjapenga

    Greetings from the UK!

  • wandering_nose says:

Thank you Michelyn and Steven for acquainting me with some fragrances I haven’t been aware of, and now want to try. There is ever so much to discover… Both Michalyn and Steven’s reviews bring me so close to the fragrances as if I could almost smell them. I would most love to be able to test Calling All Angels so that would be my choice should I be the lucky winner. I follow the new CaFleureBon page on IG under the name _cathy_reilly_. Thank you from Dublin, Republic of Ireland, UE

  • Amazing list. I have tried perhaps a half of this list and those are some of my favorite fragrances. I own a couple and a couple are already on my wishlist. I am particularly interested in sampling a couple of the first fragrances Michelyn nicely described. From both Steven’s and descriptions in here I find Calling all angels very interesting; I like it’s meditative experience and I want to read more about infusion in crystals Steven was mentioning. But in case I win I’d pick B683 since I adore it and it has been on my wish list for a while. I’m from Illinois, US (insta name alex_supernova).

  • Jarrid Steele says:

I love the way Steven describes fragrances. He’s so thorough and knowledgeable about the notes and nuances. I am in Montreal, Canada right now but I do have a mailing address in the USA. I would love the opportunity to win or smell any of these. I think being in Canada right now, the only one I’m eligible to win is Little Song. Thanks for the opportunity.

  • Love that this duo is highlighting some great indie talent. My choice first choice would be B683 and second, Calling all Angels. USA

  • Great choices for the list. I like the attention on indie brands. That’s where to find truly original scent ideas. I own Tauer Au Coeur du Desert from the list. It is a perfect example of how perfume is emotional art. Trayee is also incredibly beautiful. It has maybe the best Sandalwood note I’ve ever tried. Mixed with the spices, green notes and fruit, it takes me on a journey to India.
My sample is almost empty, so I would LOVE to win Neela Vermeire Trayee. That is my #1 pick.
I would also be very happy with the other options from April Aromatics, Meo Fuscini or Gallivant.
    I live in Denmark, EU.

  • Wonderful selection, best of the best!
I am glad that I already know something from your list: B683, Burvuvu, Au Coeur du Desert and Little Song. If I needed to nominate just one as a symbol for last year and forthcoming new one, I would vote for Marc Antoine Barrois who created quite a hype last year with his fragrances. I can tell in some post-soviet countries Ganymede is constantly sold-out hit with waiting lists, amazing success. And yes, both fragrances smell like “clean professional” in high quality suit.

I live in the EU and would love to win Tanja Bochnig’s Calling All Angels OR Neela Vermeire Take two 15 ml x 2 of Trayee, thank you for your generousity!!!

  • Wow they all smell so heavenly, and that is just by reading Michelyn’s reviews and watching Steven’s video. I haven’t tried any of these before, but after reading the reviews and watching Steven’s video, I think I would choose Calling All Angels, or Trayee, the first because Michelyn says about it – “what peace smells like”, and Trayee because of Steven’s glowing review. I’m a Redolessence subscriber and am in the USA.

  • Ever since CFB introduced me to Neela Vermeire I’ve been dying to try Trayee! Bertrand Duchaufour is a master of incense and spices so I know I will love this one. Great selections and reviews of all though. Happy Solstice, wishing all of us more light in our lives in 2022. From Brooklyn, NY.

  • BostonScentGuy says:

What an embarrassment of riches in this draw! I loved the evocative descriptions of the spicy, woody, ambery goodness that many of these scents contain! I totally agree with Michelyn’s assessment of B683 (from the judicious use of ambroxan to her preference for it over Ganymede!) and I appreciated Steven’s insights on Clutch–which I just got a sample of and love! If I were to win, It’d be amazing to win Little Song, B683, Clutch, or Istanbul (really any of them though!). Thanks so much for the draw. I’ve also followed on Instagram (nmalakhow). I’m in the US.

  • Happy Winter Solstice and beginning of winter everyone! It’s a great time to celebrate and enjoy Holidays with nice warming Scents.
Love this idea of #supportsmallbusines and last month did purchased few fragragrances from small businesses, really love them.
If only wishes come true…. my wish will be B683, because this is timeless, elegant, extraordinary creation by Quentin Bisch and Marc-Antoine Barrois.
“B683 is a personal favorite, because every man that has tested it, smells perfect on every single one. It is another much gifted fragrance to the men in my life- Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief” – more than agree with Michelyn on this! Will be beautiful surprise for someone special in my life.
Thank you for this draw, following your Facebook page, and your Instagram new account as natlovemoon.
    Greetings from Florida USA.

  • juicedupandsloppy says:

Totally great review. I own the Andy Tauer fragrance and have Spirito from Meo Fusciuni. They are perfect for this time of year. This review makes me look forward to getting the Little Song. Which would be my choice if I win. Thanks for the giveaway.

  • What a great list of independent fragrances for this season! I like the wide range of choices you described, the clarity of the descriptions, and the support for these small businesses. If I won the draw, I would choose Trayee, or Calling All Angels. I follow Cafleurebon on Instagram; my username there is old_herbaceous. Thanks for doing this!

  • Such great choices.I would love to win Calling all angels, B683, Gallivant Istanbul. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • I already know what my first choice will be. Tauer Au Couer du Desert from what I heard is a banger and I would love to catch that fragrance as soon as possible. I also would love to see how that Perfumology Clutch is working with. Steven is always the go-to with the fragrance.

  • I also like to check out the Little Song by Meo Fusciuni. I can see having potential from October to March in the South and could be a great signature scent. I follow you all and my instagram is @disdudeizseriouz

  • It was news to me Michelyn has gifted so many men with fragrances. After reading I enjoyed the accompanying video comments on the offerings. If chosen I’d love the Trayees. US

  • Both reviews were top notch as I’ve come to expect from both reviewers. Meo Fusciuni‘s Little Song sounds extremely interesting and exciting. Earth and smoke within a fragrance sounds daring and artistic.. I love that it was created listening to the albums Murder ballads and Skeleton tree. I would love to win Little Song. Indiana USA
    IG marcelluspaige92@gmail.com poppo_demarco3

  • I would love to win Neela Vermeire fragrance, being in love with all that Indian culture means,i would be honored to have this perfume in my collection. I follow you in instagram as Atena Cata.I’ frumos Romania EU.

  • Bryant Worley says:

I really enjoyed Steven and Michelyn’s reviews, as they were quite informative, with their enthusiasm making the fragrances even more appealing. But Steven’s enthusiasm for Trayee makes it the one I want. His slow, lingering, and elongated description of the fragrance notes dripped with reverence, and I want to experience that.

I live in Waldorf, Maryland, USA, and follow on IG: @Brygantor_1.

  • Zoran Loncarevic says:

Great review from Steven of ten extraordinary perfumes. It’s super difficult to choose one, but my favorite would be from Aprilaromatics Calling All Angels. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Greetings from Germany.

  • Lovely review! Some beautiful gems you introduced here!
I would love to have Gallivant Istambul in my collection!
    IG: linalinelle
    Lithuania, EU

  • I can almoat smell all these comforting winter scents! Thank you for the review!
I would love to have Antoine Barrois B683 in my collection to share it with my hubby!
    IG: linalinelle
    Lina, Lithuania, EU

  • From all this exquisite fragrances,i know only the beautiful complex Trayee, witch is my first choice, also i’m very curious about Rogue Perfumery Deviche 2,Calling All Angels(what a beautiful name), and Meo Fuscini Parfums Little Song. This is a generous draw and relevant review! Thanks from EU

  • Love all the choices Michelyn and Steven present us in this post and thanks also for introducing me some fragrances I didn´t know and I am aware of now. If Michelyn says so much in a few words, Steven is passionate in his video and share with us one of the most unique scent he smelled (Burvuvu) , one of his all time favourite (Derviche II) and one of the most complex he tried (Trayee)… what an amazing list: lots of incense, wood, balsams here… I would love to win Derviche II by the great Manuel Cross. I live in Spain, EU and I follow your Instagram page @cafleurebonoffical with the name @Sonbahia

  • Dorothee Teboul says:

Nice to read a review with many lovely sounding rich winter options! I would love to win Trayee, Calling all angels, or Little Song. I have commented on Instagram , my name there is dorotheeteboul. I live in France.

  • I really love Neela’s creations, there is something magical in her scents. Special an unique 🙂
Neela Vermeire Trayee also seems to have this combination of spicy and exotic notes that will melt my heart. So, I would love to win Neela Vermeire’s Trayee.
I like @cafleurebonofficial and @neelavermeirecreations and I am @iene_art on instagram, so I hope to count for two 😉
    I am in the Netherlands.

  • I heard a lot about these brands and perfumes, I also read a lot of positive reviews on them, Michelyn’s and Steven’s reviews are so poetic and appetizingly good, so that I would be happy to win either Meo Fusciuni`s Little Song or Gallivant`s Istanbul or Neela Vermeire.
In general I want to thank Çafleurebon team for keeping us updated on the latest in the world of perfumery. Reading the reviews of your columnists is a pleasure for me. And although I do not have the opportunity to try all these perfumes, reading the reviews, I am instantly transported into the atmosphere conveyed by the authors!
    Greetings from the UK!

  • Always love hearing what both Steven and Michelyn have to say in their reviews. I’ve been seeing Marc-Antoine Barrois’ B683 seemingly everywhere this season and from the note breakdown to the analyses I can see why. I feel like it’s a huge compliment and praise to the fragrance when Michelyn admits to gifting it to the men in her life. Also, with the claim of “…every man that has tested it, smells perfect on every single one” I feel it is a MUST and therefore the one I would choose. Thanks so much for the opportunity and cheers from Illinois!

    Following: @tonythatiger

  • Thank you Michelyn and Steven for awesome reviews. They are short, but very informative and positive. It makes me want to explore the particular fragrance or the whole perfume house/brand.
Would love to win Meo Fusciuni Parfums “Little Song” or Gallivant Perfumes “Istanbul”. I haven’t tried any of these perfumes before, nor I am very familiar with these brands, but after reading the reviews and watching Steven’s video I’m so intrigued. Sounds sooo amazing.
    Many thanks. UK

  • Meo Fusciuni Little Song is a blend of tobacco, coffee, rose, and civet. [ Little song has been conceived and created listening to the albums: Murder ballads and Skeleton tree by Nick Cave and the bad seeds].-Giuseppe Imprezzabile. A beautiful description by Michelyn and Steven really fascinated by the notes especially Coffee, Tobacco, Rose and Civet. I follow @Cafleurebon official my user name is amnaaziz5296@gmail.com. Thanks a million from the UK

  • Meo Fusciuni Little Song is a blend of tobacco, coffee, rose, and civet. I was curious to find out more about Meo Fusciuni and the notes sound sumptuous Coffee, Tobacco, Rose and Civet. Beautiful description and choices by Michelyn and Steven it was really hard to choose. If I am lucky to win I would love to win Meo Fusciuni little Song. Thanks a lot from the United Kingdom

  • I am very intrigued by Little Song from Meo Fuscini. I don’t know this house at all, but I like the concept as it has an aura of mysticism around it. It evokes me something old and sacred.
I am in EU. Thank you!

  • I am very intrigued by Little Song from Meo Fusciuni. I don’t know this house at all, but I like the concept as it has an aura of mysticism around it. It evokes me something old and sacred.
I am in EU. Thank you!

  • This is a great list and each sound terrific
I am a big fan of rogue so I would love to win derviche 2
Both Steven and Michelyn got me so excited about it. I own his Bon Monsieur
    USA

  • If I am among the lucky winners, I would go with Trayee from Neela Vermeire.
I heard/read only good things about her creations – from the smell itself to the performance, intense sillage and everlasting longevity. I think they fit the bill for every perfume enthusiast out there.

European reader. Thank you and good luck to everyone!

  • Happy winter to you
What a great idea to feature only independent houses since they work hard and don’t get as much attention as big designers
Based on the descriptions by Michelyn (smells perfect on every man) and my husband still wears the same cologne for 20 yrs
I would like to win Marc Antoine Barrois b683
    All the best

  • Well, Michelyn and Steven are both so good with words, I feel like I can smell the scents through the screen. They all sound lovely, but those I most want to win are:
    B683
    Clutch
    Deviche2
    Thanks! from the U.S.

  • Michelyn and Steven came up with an exquisite selection and a description to match it once again! There is many presents to ask santa for this year lol!
I would love to win Derviche, Little song, Calling all angels or Trayee. I find they all feature such contemplative, enveloping qualities that I personally really look forward to in winter.
    I live in EU.
    Merry Christmas everyone!

  • Thanks for another awesome article and review. Your descriptions have me placing a star next to many on my wishlist. If lucky, I’d choose Little Song, Istanbul, Clutch, Trayee, B683, Derviche II, or Calling All Angels. Thanks for the draw….Happy Holidays to all. Mich USA. Following you on insta. @mary_luvs_flowers

  • Great review, both from Steven and Michely, both have shown their impeccable knowledge of perfumery as well as immaculate taste!

My first choice to win would have to be Little song by Meo Fusciuni. I’ve long wanted to try something from the house, this my be my gateway perfume!

My second choice would be Calling all Angels, since I haven’t smelled anything from the house and this sounds DIVINE.

My third choice would have to be Derviche 2! I haven’t smelled anything from Manuel Cross since I can’t ship his perfumes to my country, so this would be a great opportunity.

I live in Croatia, Eu and I also follow Cafleurebon on Instagram, my @ is @il.dolce.papi!

  • Warm and spicy perfumes sound wonderful this time of year, and I like that these are all smaller and creative brands. The ones that sound like they contain notes I enjoy most are NV Trayee, Gallivant Istanbul, or Rogue Deviche 2. I enjoy Steven’s reviews as they are more professional and less dramatic than some you tubers who grate on my nerves! I’m in the USA

  • This time of year is a beautiful time for fragrance. Close with the ones we love is great for compliments. I’d love to be lucky enough to win any of these. Thanks for the draw. From Indianapolis.

  • I have long been interested in trying Neela Vermeire’s creations, especially Bombay Bling and Trayee. Michelyn’s description of the fragrance as contemplative and comforting sounds right up my alley for the kind of fragrances I crave this time of year. Steven’s mention that Trayee is the most complex fragrance in his lineup intrigues me too! I am curious about the combination of basil and cardamom this fragrance offers. Those are two notes I love in other perfumes but I don’t think I’ve ever smelled them together. I am subscribed to Redolessence and do follow on @Cafleurebonofficial. My username is (redacted) anna…….. but I would be happy to confirm through a private message should I win.
    Indiana, USA

  • I would love to have a bottle of April Aromatics Calling all Angels. It calls me as my birthday is in April. Also thank you for the review, added some new brands to my “to try” list. I live in France, EU

  • I believe that I initially found out about Cafleurebon by way of Steven or Sebastian whose channels I subscribe to and I have appreciated the introduction so much. Every single one of Steven’s choices for this list sound phenomenal and I appreciated being able to come here, see all the names and houses written out, and read a bit more about each one. I had only previously smelled the Tauer Au Coeur du Desert (an all-time favorite), so the list of fragrances I need to smell just got longer .

It is difficult to choose from all of these incredible sounding perfumes, but after much deliberation, my choice would be April Aromatics Calling All Angels. While the various incenses are some of my favorite notes in perfumery, I have not yet added a full bottle of an incense fragrance to my collection. I would be beyond thrilled to win Calling All Angels, so thank you for the opportunity.

My instagram name is 2alt4u and I’ve just followed the new page. I am so sorry that you got hacked, how infuriating.

  • I surely enjoyed all the reviews of these fantastic indie scents…B683 is my choice if I were to be so lucky as to win; I’ve got several men who would love to try it, my husband is looking for a new signature fragrance…Michelyn says that it smells ‘perfect on….every single one.’ I take her word as gold as far as perfumes go…it’s in your hands, Michelyn!

  • I love Steven’s reviews, he always finds fragrances that are new to me! Michelyn’s writing though, I am dying to know what peace smells like, such evocative words!

If I was lucky enough to win though I would choose Perfumology’s Clutch because I just don’t see a lot of ginger scents out there and to find one with dark notes, I’m intrigued!

    NJ, USA

  • Steven of Redolessence is very well spoken and a authority on fragrance that I respect. The list by Michelyn and Steven sound great. Being familiar with some of the brands other scents (Odor 93, Mousse, LDAM….) I can only support these as being bangers for winter. My choice, if selected would be Clutch. Thank you.

  • I would love to win a bottle of “Little Song”

Dient know any fragrances from your review, although I own the “brother of the Tauer fragrance, “L’air du Desert Marocain”. As often I was most intrigued by the mention of the albums to which “little Song” was created.

    Living in Germany, EU

  • I really appreciated that Michelyn and Steven were able in very few and succinct words, to give us a glimpse of what they represent and smell like. The selection seems so relevant to the theme in this season, with lots of spices, rich woods and booziness. It was nice to see some houses that are not so popular (for me at least), such as Perfumology Clutch or Tsvga Parfums.
I would love to win Gallivant Istanbul (Cardamom Coffee anyday all day), or Neela Vermeire Trayee. My Instagram name is Lupinette31. I’m from Romania (EU).

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

I would love to win a bottle of Clutch. I enjoyed hearing Steven’s thoughts on these niche fragrances and reading Michelyn’s reviews as well. I live in Maryland.

  • My choice that I would love to win is Meo Fusciuni Parfums Little Song. Michelyn’s review was fabulous with lots of details and Steven’s review was really intrigueing, I love his content. I live in Poland, EU. My Insta name: insztagramekphoto

  • Greg Graham Sr says:

Hello Steven and Cafleurebon, how are you? Outstanding Fragrances. Calling all Angels has my curiosity, I love amber and honey. I think of the land of milk and honey and Angels. Michelyn Camen thank you so much. Stay safe and Merry Christmas and happy holidays.

  • I loved each of your choices. Winter fragrances work great on my skin, so I choose to wear them year-round. I own several from each list. I would love Istanbul or Little Song should I win. I am in the US Southwest. I wish you all a lovely holiday season.

  • Very nice list. I love Michelyn’s description of the fragrances and Steven always gives such great reviews. I would love to win Gallivant Istanbul, Neela Vermeire Take two Trayee or Calling All angels from Tanja Bochnig. I follow CaFleureBon on IG @blinkydog1999. I’m in MD, USA

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

Really enjoyed Steven’s and Michelyn’s reviews of these Indie offerings. What attracted me most was the description of Clutch. I really like ginger and incense in fragrances so, if I were to win, that’s the one I’d choose. Appreciate the generosity of this giveaway. Many blessings from Virginia, USA and Merry Christmas!

  • I really liked how you described B683 by M.A.Barrois, so sophisticated, so in fashion but also phylosophical, I agree with you – it is more wearable than Ganymede. Overall, interesting selection of comforting scents, thank you!

I live in the EU and my choices are:
    – Trayee (Take2) by Neela Vermeire or
    – Calling All Angels by Tanja Bochnig.

  • HIKMAT SHER AFRIDI says:

Steve is not only an English Teacher by profession but also a great fragrance reviewer!!!!
Nice picks for the winter season. I tried a sample of Calling All Angels by April Aromatics and love at first sniff indeed. Full Bottle worth.
Thanks for your generosity and giveaway, I would like to participate by letting me with my relative address in NY, US.
    My choice if I win:
    Calling All Angels
The alternate choice is Tsvga Parfums Wine & Chocolate

  • Trayee, Istanbul, and Derviche II sound amazing. I missed Rogue’s black Friday sale or I would have grabbed a 30 mL. Darn it. I’m in the U.S. (Virginia)

  • A great selection indeed!
My favorurite from this list is Meo Fusciuni’s Little Song. Please count me in for that one.

Little Song from Meo Fusciuni Parfums would be my choice. I live in London, UK. Michelyn and Steven are great as always.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALL, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

  • Really enjoyed Steven’s video. A few I’ve tried and many I haven’t but all sound interesting and unique. I also enjoyed Michelyn’s written reviews, I appreciate how she mentions particular fragrances she’s gifted to others as well as personal favorites and how certain fragrances feel, for example meditative or comforting. I own Clutch and have sampled and very much enjoy Istanbul. Also tried B683 unfortunately I struggle with leather most of the time. It’s a very tough choice with such unique interesting perfumes! Trayee, Little Song, and Calling All Angels all sound very appealing to me and of course Istanbul. If I should win I would choose Calling All Angels. Thanks for the generous draw, from CT USA. I am following @cafleurebonofficial on Instagram, insta is @goldenish19. Hope everyone has amazing holidays!

  • Apologies for adding second comment, in my above comment I should have listed choice…
    1. Calling All Angels
    2. Trayee
    3. Little Song
    4. Istanbul
From USA and following on insta from @goldenish19

  • From the fragrances which are mentioned in this review, I’ve only tried Perfumology’s “Clutch” and Rogue Perfumery’s “Deviche 2”, so I found Steven’s review, and Michelyn’s review, to be informative and helpful because I’d like to become familiar with all of these fragrances. I think that the fragrances which are mentioned are fittingly curated for winter season.

I would love to win any of the following in this order: Meo Fusciuni Parfums 100 ml bottle of “Little Song”, Marc-Antoine Barrois Paris 100 ml bottle of “B683”, Neela Vermeire two 15 ml x 2 of “Trayee”, Gallivant Perfumes 30 ml bottle draw of “Istanbul”, or Perfumology “Clutch”. I live in MD., U.S.A. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. I subscribe to Steven’s channel under the name Regis Monkton, and I follow CaFleureBonofficial on Instagram- my I.G. handle is @regismonkton

  • I would like to win April Aromatics Calling all Angels because I like the way Michelyn said she felt that there is an energy that is meditative coming from this fragrance. I also have never tried an all natural fragrance and I really want to.

Steven’s choices of fragrances are always varied. There is certainly something for everyone in his selections. This time though, my heart belongs to Calling all Angels.

Thanks for the reviews and the giveaway. In the USA.

  • Oh boy, so many choices! If I happen to win I would gladly pick Derviche 2!
Michelyn’s reviews are a great indicator of the overall smell of a fragrance and I’m really glad for skillfully pointing me in the right direction.
I’ve watched Steven for a long time and the best thing about his reviews is… That I have a pretty similar sense of quality fragrance to him. Based solely on his review I would probably pick Little Song or Calling All Angels, but combined, Derviche is the clear pick for me.

  • Thank you Michelyn and Steven for such a nice selection. And plenty of great suggestions in 2021 niche holiday selection. I’m intrigued by wine & chocolate- a perfume that is just that. Au coeur du desert and Trayee are both (modern) classics for me.
I’d like to win Trayee or Calling all Angels.

    I’m in EU

  • I’m a relative newcomer to fragrances, so I find informative reviews like Michelyn’s and Steven’s extremely helpful. I’m learning a lot, as fast as I can!

If I was to win, I’d love to try Little Song, because the tobacco and rose combination is intriguing.

    I’m in the USA.

  • I would really really love to try this. I cannot imagine what this would smell like. I hope I win this to allow me to widen my olfactory spectrum

  • Love this review and to know more about this fragrance. As always, Steven has a way to express about fragrances that is unique, and Michelyn is always on point on the words to express more about fragrances. I would love to win Little Song. I live in the U.S.

  • I am most curious about the creations of Neela Vermeire. I always wanted to try her fragrances, but never really got the chance, and it’s a shame as I have heard only words of praise.
Thank you for the draw and Happy Holidays to everybody!

    PS. I am in Europe

  • Claumarchini says:

Thank you Michelyn and Steven for this great insight and your precious advice! I am only familiar with Istanbul (I have a personal penchant for Nick and Gallivant, I confess! :)) and Little Song, I will make up and try and study the other fragrances, they all sound stunning! I am from Italy and would love to win Little Song, Trayee or Calling all angels! Merry Christmas to the wonderful Cafleurebon family! I follow you always here and on IG (immediately switched to your new account of course!)!

  • Always love discovering new scents and every review like these helps me so so much when deciding on what to try, thank you Michelyn and Steven! I like Calling all Angels. Hugs from Europe, Croatia. ❤️

  • What a wonderful list of winter fragrances! Michelyn, I absolutely LOVE your choice of Gallivant Istanbul. I can see why you’ve gifted this fragrance often. The spice notes combined with vanilla and tonka sounds incredibly cozy and warm. I’d be happy to win any of the ones talked about in this article, but my first pick would definitely be Istanbul.

Wishing all of you a beautiful Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

    I live in the USA.

  • Absolutely wonderful post! I loved learning from Michelyn’s reviews that in Gallivant Istanbul you can sense the meeting of not only two cultures, Europe and Asia, but two time periods, between the ancient city and it’s modern bustling counterpart. I also appreciate knowing that Michelyn has gifted the fragrance herself many times – if Michelyn thinks it’s lovely enough to gift, let alone to many different people, it must be a huge winner!

What I loved about Steven’s video reviews is how he describes Derviche II as smelling like a hookah pipe, with a sugared fruit vibe contrasted to a herbaceous citrus component. I love Derviche I, and Steven’s comparison of II to I makes me very curious to try it as well.

I would like to be entered in all of the draws, and if I am lucky enough to win, I would pick the following fragrances in this order:

    1. Little Song
    2. Calling All Angels
    3. Trayee
    4. B683
    5. Gallivant Istanbul
    6. Clutch
    7. Derviche II

  • Many Thanks to you, Michelyn, and Steven for introducing these wonderfully warming fragrances I haven’t been know. There are so many Indie Fragrances to discover… Your reviews make me close to those fragrances to the extent that I wanna smell and have them all 🙂 I would most love to be able to discover the stunning fragrances of Tanja Bochnig which is “Calling All Angels” so that would be my choice should I be the lucky winner. Cheers from MI, USA

  • Okay, I knew there would be an interesting selection here, but I didn’t expect it to be SO good! Absolutely every fragrance is original and attractive in its own way.

I was very intrigued by the fragrance from “Meo Fusciuni Parfums – Little Song”.
I like the description: “A perfume that shakes the heart, that reaches the bottom of the human soul”, it also contains my favorite notes – tobacco, coffee, rose and resins.
This combination must be sounds so goood.

Also, I was very interested in the fragrance from Tanja Bochnig “Calling All Angels” with ambery honey accord, smoke, wonderful frankincense and resinous direction. I liked that this fragrance embodies the “meditative and healing” mood, according to the description, beautiful shades are very harmoniously intertwined in it. I would really like to feel its depth.

Thank you for this cool topic, guys!!

  • Thanks Michelyn and Steven!

Michelyn’s descriptions are always amazing and to the point: short but make you to imagine perfume fully.
I liked description of Meo Fusciuni Little Song description which made me to remember emotions from that perfume, which I have tested a long ago and forget.

  • If I haven’t tested B683 before, I would immediately walk to shop to test it after Michelyn intriguing description of B683 !!!
I liked Steven style of description! Very interesting to test January Scent Project Burvuvu with mushroom, cedar and henna notes.

    I will lucky to win:

I’d love to try Istanbul by Gallivant, Michelyn saying she has given it as gifts is selling it to me, as well as Calling All Angels with that golden honey description. I am also interested in Rogue Derviche 2 and Perfumology Clutch. I am from New England. Happy holidays!

What a great list Steven and Michelyn.

Michelyn, your writeup on each of these fragrances s so good. I’ve had a chance to smell Derviche 2 and your writeup is spot on. I’m so curious about the other ones. You have intrigued me with your writeup of Perfumeology Clutch

Steven, in your list I’ve tried Burvuvu and you are right about just two sprays being enough.

I would love to win either of the following

Take two 15 ml x 2 of Trayee (worth 130 Euros)

Rogue Perfumery 30ml of Deviche 2

Gallivant Perfumes we have a 30 ml bottle draw of Istanbul.

  • What wonderful choices and thank you for promoting small brands! So difficult to chose just one from this list but I’d probably go with Calling All Angels since I’ve had it on my to buy list forever. US

I love these top 10 Indie choices for the 2022 Winter Solstice. I’ve heard so many positive things about all of these brands and fragrances, but I’ve yet to try any of them. • Since I’m pretty new to niche perfumes world I’m enjoyed the fact that I was introduced to perfumes and brads I never heard about before. I like how Michelyn captured the spirit of each scent in the short description. Steven’s review made my choice of perfume easier. Because of his description of the fragrance my choice would be Derviche II by Rogue Perfumery. I follow @cafleurebonoffical on instagram as @agakawecka and also @vagabunda.pl. I’m also Redolessence subscriber. I live in Poland, EU.

  • I thought that Michelyn did a wonderful job giving us a idea of how these scents smell in such a short but decrypt way. She really has a talent and way with words to communicate how a scent smells with such depth yet such short and sweet description. Michelyn and Steven both almost always have a way of making me want to try all of their recommendation!

Steven as usual I loved watching review these fragrances because I can always sense his love and passion for perfumes and houses he really enjoys. This excites me because I tend to love alot of his favorites. I am not sure if we can list more than one fragrance we would like to try but I’d be thrilled to try any of the following if I were a lucky winner of this very generous draw.

1- April aromatics- Calling All Angels
    2- Gallivant perfumes- Instanbul
    3-Meo Fusciuni- Little Song
    4- Perfumology- Clutch

I am a follower on the new instagram my handle is @krystalb1993. I live in the USA, North Carolina.

Merry Christmas to the Cafleurebon team and everyone who see this.

  • I was happy to see both Michelyn and Steven comment on Gallivant Istanbul because I have and really adore it. After reading and viewing comments, this would be such a hard choice! I thought at first I’d select Trayee because I enjoy other Neela Vermeire fragrances, but after Steven’s review I would definitely choose Little Song (although I’d be happy with any of them). The notes sound wonderful. I am a Redolessence subscriber and follow @cafleurebonoffical as @frw60 in the USA. Thanks for the draw!

  • I recently started following you and I think it’s great. It is enlightened to me on these infragrances for men. Looking for a replacement to the discontinued TSAR dark green bottle, one of my all time favorite. So winning would help.

  • Always love Stevens descriptive reviews. You can actually feel the things he’s audibly describing. His description of Istanbul stands out. And what Steven does audibly, Michelyn does in written form. My personal first choice would have to be the Tauer , followed by, Gallivant, Rogue and Mr Niche Guy.

    I live in Philadelphia Pa

  • Fun fact is Marc-Antoine Barrois is actually a renowned tailor first, he was working at Hermès , and for a period of time with Jean Paul Gaultier himself ! More people know him for his fragrances, but few know that you can go to his Atelier, and order a bespoke suit.
B683 I own, bought my second bottle in November, both from ZGO. First time I ordered it, the price was $175 , last month I paid $210. Small and fair price increase, for the quality .
Michelyn described B683 way better than Steven, multifaceted leather fragrance indeed.
Happy owner of Perfumology Grange , and i also know Clutch . To me Clutch is a Pipe tobacco colder weather fragrance , Grange is more of a spring fragrance.
Meo Fusciuni Little Song is the fragrance i’d like to win . The coffee, vetiver , the rose are all notes i love .
    Thank you all

I’d love to enter the draw for the Neela Vermeire or the April Aromatics, since I loved the description of both these fragrances in the review . I live in California, USA.

  • After all the positive attention, I decided to buy Neela Vermeire discovery set from Luckyscent.Speaking about Trayee, it is really milky fragrances that smells really similar to Ras Malai , traditional Indian dessert. Lactonic without a doubt, yet spicy and calming. As a long time Pastry Chef, I’m absolutely sure Neela Vermeire told Bertrand Duchaufour to create a fragrance that would smell like Ras Malai.
Perfumology is one of the best places to buy fragrances in the States.Cardboard type of material instead of boxes for their own fragrances, so they can keep the price low, is a nice idea.
Istanbul is my favorite Gallivant . Smells like a standard German Stollen Cake and it’s loud , love it.
Tsvga Parfums Wine & Chocolate could be discontinued, I can’t find it anywhere?!?
I had a private order for a regular customer of mine for Huge Tiramisu, with a lot of Arabica and rose water in it.
That’s the reason why my pick is Meo Fusciuni Little Song
Appreciate Michelyn introduction, Steven reviews, and the giveaway campaign

  • There are two fragrances in the Top10 Indie list i actually own, Tauer Perfumes Au Couerdu Desert , and Gallivant Istanbul 🙂
Istanbul , Brooklyn, and Tokyo are my favorite Gallivant fragrances, first two i own.
Such a sophisticated fragrance Trayee is , with its cardamom , fizzy ginger , incense
April Aromatics Calling all Angels incense, honey and smoke also sounds good.
Little Song Meo Fusciuni is right up my alley, it’s darker, powerful, and the coffee is strong and long lasting. I’d love to win a bottle
    Exciting giveaway, USA

  • What an great article, drawing, and review! Thank you to Steven and Cafleurebon for holding this drawing and giving us ideas of indie perfumes to wear in this season.

    April Aromatics Calling All Angels
    Rogue Perfumery Deviche 2
    Perfumeology Clutch

  • Whoops! Adding again, I’m in the USA 🙂 and would love to enter the drawing for the perfumes below. Very little sleep on Christmas Eve this year.

What an great article, drawing, and review! Thank you to Steven and Cafleurebon for holding this drawing and giving us ideas of indie perfumes to wear in this season.

    Perfumeology Clutch

  • Fragrances from the list that will suit my Winter weather mood :
Neela Vermeire Créations Trayee i believe is natural smelling gourmand , heavy on the fruits, cardamom , resins and smoke
Meo Fusciuni Little Song I’m eager to try, tobacco and coffee avant-garde fragrance.
    Clutch is my collection.
Clutch…is clutch – delivers every time . Smells like … sitting in front of a campfire , and eating some of my grandma’s cookies. Unusual fragrance, but really pleasing.
Gallivant? Bukhara and Istanbul are both amazing
    Little Song please
    Thanks for the draw
    USA

  • Awesome list of fragrances, thank you Steven and Michelyn. As usual I’d like to share my thoughts starting from 10 to one , the way Steven ranked them :
    10. Gallivant Istanbul
By far the best Gallivant in my opinion. I don’t get the Jubilation XXV comparison Steven made
    9. Perfumology Clutch
Nir is such a great guy. Own all Grange , Blyss and Clutch
    8. January Scent Project Burvuvu
Eiderantler is a fragrance i really like-modern high quality fougere-i do own a 30ml bottle. Smolderose is good too, Burvuvu i don’t know
    7. Tsvga Parfums Wine & Chocolate
Don’t get me wrong, fragrance is fantastic, but Tsvga Parfums policy i find really odd , fragrances are often discontinued, then brought back, and discontinued again. Sometimes limited batches of certain fragrances are offered for bidding, and whoever wins gets the fragrance. How much you’ll pay sometimes depends on other bidders. Wine &Chocolate is currently not available for the general public.
I find such policy strange…. well not on Slumberhouse Josh Lobb level of strange, but still…
    6. Au Coeur du Désert
The bigger, and meaner older brother of L’Air du Desert Marocain . The smell is more ambery, and I detect something smoky.
    5.Little Song by Meo Fusciuni
I get more rose than tobacco. Awesome fragrance
    4.Marc-Antoine Barrois B683
    “Clean , elegant and professional”
    Elegant…maybe, but I wouldn’t call B683 “clean and professional”

“truly multifaceted leather -classic, elegant, bold and spicy. It is one of the few fragrances that I have tried that uses Ambroxan that doesn’t overpower the rest of the composition, Oakmoss adds green woodiness at the drydown.”
Well said It’s a leather dominant fragrance, with 80s, and even 70s kind of vibe.
    3.Rogue Perfumery Derviche II
“Derviche II uses many of the same materials but in totally different proportions. It is an amber, woody incense masterpiece laden with dried fruit and to my nose a fine quality oud hums in the background.”
I agree 100% , the two are very different .
    2. Neela Vermeire Créations Trayee
No questions asked about what’s the best Neela Vermeire fragrance. I was able to smell Mohur Extrait at Esxence 2018, phenomenal … nothing more to say . Trayee, regular Mohur and Bombay Bling are fighting for the silver medal. On me Trayee is full time gourmand, way sweeter than expected.
    1. April Aromatics Calling all Angels
The best April Aromatics , together with Erderstern and Vetiver Coeur. Unfortunately my skin is really dry , and I can’t wear natural fragrances.
I’d prefer Little Song by Meo Fusciuni.
Thank you all , and Happy Holidays
    USA

  • “How can you go wrong with a name of Wine and Chocolate?”

You can Steven, you can by not replying to messages from customers, or simply ignoring them. I don’t want to sound rude , I had Wine and Chocolate, it’s gorgeous, but Tsvga is a lost cause for me.
I need a strong coffee to wake me up lately, Little Song will help too
    Thanks for the opportunity

  • I go on vacation and miss the BEST posts! I know the entry window has past, but I just want to say that I can’t wait to try many of the excellent perfumes on this list! Also, everyone should check out Perfumology! Nir is AMAZING and so is CLUTCH! My husband especially adores this scent! We are also die-hard fans of Manny Cross and Rogue!!! Definitely a Love at First Scent house for us! Neela Vermeire is so incredibly gracious, brilliant, and her scents are stunning! 🙂 So happy they all made the list! Happy Holidays to all!
