If you would have told me eight years ago that one of the best niche perfumeries in the USA would be located in the Midwest I would have been skeptical. But that is exactly what happened when Ann Bouterse opened the doors to Indigo Perfumery on Oct 15, 2013 with 20 perfume lines and has expanded her niche, natural and artistic perfume offerings to 52. Indigo Perfumery was the first US stockist for Papillon Perfumery, and Hiram Green.
Antonio Alessandria, Prosody London, Ex Nihilo Display
Recently Antonio Alessandria, Prosody London, Ex Nihilo, Hedonik, Liis and Maison Tahité were added to the carefully curated selection of fantastic fragrances, many are all natural or artisanal (Der Duft and Rogue Perfumery will be coming soon). Ann has a very hands-on approach and even during the Pandemic when the state mandated that she shut the doors, Ann ensured that her online shop was always available and that she personally spoke with local customers, who often sought her expertise as they were not familiar with artistic perfumery. Her dedication was rewarded as her business increased. Now, the store hours are either by appointment only or Tuesday through Saturday. If you are a regular reader of ÇaFleureBon you know how generous Ann has been sponsoring so many bottle draws which she takes from her own stock. Please join me in celebrating the 8th anniversary of Indigo Perfumery…may Ann and Indigo Perfumery continue to flourish, prosper and bring happiness to all of us perfume lovers for many more years. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief
Ann Bourterse
“It’s all about passion. Perfume, flowers and art have always been an important part of my life. Over the years we have connected with area artists to combine scent and art. We invited local college students to interpret a perfume with their favored art medium and also held an exhibition with twelve artists at Hedge Gallery where we interpreted their art pieces with a perfume that told its story. We hold workshops on many subjects and look forward to returning to them once again. For now I enjoy hosting IG Lives with perfumers and creative directors. One of the most fun aspects of having a small perfume boutique, as well as one of the most challenging, is choosing the perfume lines for our gallery. We look for fragrances that pay tribute to the craft of hand blending scents, but with a modern hand. We look for individuality, superior ingredients and that special something that sets the perfumes apart from the rest. And most importantly, we base our decisions on what our customers are looking for. Our customers are varied, from all walks of life and with varying tastes. We work with each one that walks through the door or connects with us online. Teaching and informing is key to assisting them, but we also respect that wearing perfume is a private, very personal choice”-Ann Bourterse.
Thanks to the generosity of Indigo Perfumery, Ann is generously offering 8 samples of your choice from any brand in the store for one registered reader in the U.S. only.
