Thanksgiving Perfumes: Kajal Homme II, Etat Libre D’Orange Like This and Parfums de Marly Oajan +3 You Should Be Wearing Giveaways

Best Thanksgiving perfumes

Etat Libre D’Orange Like This, Parfums de Marly Oajan and Kajal Perfumes Homme II image by Steven

Thanksgiving was the most important holiday of the year at my grandmother’s home. Her mother, mother-in-law, sons, daughters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, sister, grandchildren, and the family of her family and one year the mailman, everyone was welcome around her Thanksgiving table in Brooklyn. An immigrant, she was grateful to be American and had to learn how to  prepare a sweet potato pie and  how to figure out what the heck cranberry sauce was. Many of our readers and viewers are heading home for the Thanksgiving holiday; we hope you make it safely by plane, train, automobile or on foot.  For anyone who can’t be with your loved ones there would have been a place at my grandma’s ever-expanding tables for you. – Michelyn Camen

Steven Gavrielatos and Michelyn co-curated the “3 Thanksgiving perfumes you should be wearing”.

Etat Libre D’Orange Like This (Mathilde Bijaoui) 2010: How do you celebrate Thanksgiving? Like This…  Originally created for Tilda Swinton, Etat Libre D’Orange Like This is composed with ingredients that Swinton loved. Perfumer Mathilde Bijaoui wrote in her young perfumer article: “I decided to play around an “orange-colored” accord with various ingredients: carrot, ginger, pumpkin, mandarin, orange blossom, immortelle…”  Like This is a multihued orange with a bright burst of neroli and yellow mandarin at top, accompanied by pumpkin, ginger and maple syrup-like immortelle. One spritz and for me, it immediately evokes a Thanksgiving dessert table with candied clementines and pumpkin pie. While Tilda Swinton’s name is no longer on the bottle, she is there in spirit. -Michelyn Camen

Kajal Homme II (Chris Maurice & Rosendo Mateu) 2021: When I saw the “II” after Kajal Homme II, I thought it might be a flanker of  2015’s classic Kajal Homme. What they have in common are the perfumers (perfumers Chris Maurice and Rosendo Mateau, RIP). Kajal Homme II is a completely different fragrance. If you are looking for a Thanksgiving fragrance that is not sweet or foody, we recommend Kajal Homme II.  The aromatic opening of clary sage, rosemary and lavender add balance to heart of cloves, peach and cinnamon notes. The base of Virginia cedar wood is particularly elegant at the drydown –Michelyn Camen

Parfums de Marly Oajan (Shyamala Masiondieu) 2013: Parfums de Marly Oajan (WAJE-AHN) is a grownup gourmand which is perfect for Thanksgiving. Shyamala is one of my favorite perfumers because she always brings her signature international flair (Malaysian, Hong Kong, Grasse, Paris and the U.K.) to each of her many fragrances (to name a few Etat Libre D’Orange Charogne, Soul of My SoulEx Nihilo Atlas Fever Tom Ford F*ing Fabulous). On the Parfums de Marly site Oajan is listed as masculine, but don’t worry ladies it is truly unisex; an ambery warm perfume where honey and cinnamon are sprinkled on peachy osmanthus, reminding me of my great-grandmother’s version of struffoli (honeyballs) which she soaked in honey, cinnamon, and ground orange rind. Oajan is one Parfums de Marly I think deserves more attention and is perfect for Thanksgiving- -Michelyn Camen

  • I love like this! for this period, so unique but wearable.
I have tried the entire line but this one is so far one of my favorite.
    Greetings from Milan Italy

I love the story from Michelyn because it’s sounds like my upbringing….we always spent Thanksgiving day and Grandma house with the Entire family. The Fragrances Steven reviewed on his video are on point. I would love love love to win a bottle of Oajan…. simply because it smells Amazing

  • milleroots1223 says:

Great reviews from both Michelyn and Steven! I wasn’t even aware of Parfums de Marley Oajan before Steven mentioned it, but warm and ambery sounds like something I need! Michelyn says the fragrance needs more love, and I’d be happy to do so. 😉 Greetings from Ontario, Canada!

  • I really like the Parfums de Marly Oajan gathering from all the great stuff that I have heard about it over the years, listening to STEVEN’S VIDEO made me love the sound of it even more, I love cinnamon and Amber, that’s what my entire cheap collection is made of, I’d love to smell how a niche house would interprate it, and as MICHELYN said Shyamala never goes wrong!!!

I love how this article was clean and direct ♥️

Great story from Michelyn, I totally can relate because Thanksgiving day was always at my grandmother’s house and the entire family was there. The fragrances Steven talked about in the video are on point. I would love to win a Full bottle of Oajan simply because it is Amazing and the description is making me want it in my collection

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

I can imagine the comments will be extra heavy for this giveaway. Who doesn’t love the Thanksgiving holiday?! I particularly like showing my gratitude to God and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for all that I’ve been given. A nice size homemade meal is definitely a welcome add-on. A fragance that encapsulates this is highly appealing and Michelyn and Steven’s rundown of them highlights that. Really enjoyed Michelyn’s narrative about her grandma. Steven’s description of the scents is unparalleled. These 3 offerings seem very intriguing, but I’ve had my eye on PdM Oajan for some time. If I were to win, that’d be my option. Appreciate the giveaway opportunity. Many blessings from VA, USA!

  • Kajal Homme 2, California USA
Steve did a great video description of the 3 and the read from Michelyn was very nice enjoyed both. And thanks to everyone

  • ramsesperez52 says:

I think Oajan would be an amazing addition to my Parfums De Marly collection. Never smelled this one before but I’m a huge fan of Gormand fragrances and the honey/cinnamon combo sounds to die for. And I’d have to agree that Oajan is indeed one that is not talked about a lot

  • Ryan Fassbender says:

I am a big fan of these styles of spicy gourmand/ish types fragrances. I don’t have any of these but definitely want all three in my collection eventually!

  • The Kajal Homme ll article triggered my curiosity, would love to try it some day.

    Thanks
    Mark

  • Michelyn says Kajal Homme II is not related to Kajal Homme and will appeal those who do not like food elements in their fragrances. Steven says Kajal Homme is a spicy fragrance that is perfect for this time of the year. My choices are Kajal Homme II or Parfums de Marly Oajan. I am in US.

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

I like how michelyn talks about oajan needing more attention. I love underrated perfumes. I love Steven’s taste and how he describes performance. I’d love to win the PDM bottle. I live in Indiana

  • My choice if I won would be a 100 ml bottle of Kajal Homme II. I thought that Michelyn’s written review was really beautiful and filled with intriguing information, I also thought that Steven’s video review was very professional and helpful. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU

  • I agree!!!! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!!!! Family, lots of friends and family! I haven’t smelled any of this 3 fragrances but definitely trust Michelyn and Steven… They all seem amazing and the notes are perfect for the colder months and for the the holidays!!!!first choice would be Oajan. And then Like this and Kajal Homme Ii. I’m from Massachusetts, MA. Fingers crossed!!!!

  • Jacob Savitt says:

I am SOOOOOOO intrigued by Etat Libre dOrange’s release here of Like This! Steven is the expert on rich decadent frags like these ones, and Michelyn’s review of Like This had my mouth watering. Gotta try this!

    From NJ, USA

  • I enjoyed reading / listening to both Michelyn’s description and Steven’s review on the same perfumes. They simply complete each other and give an even more exhaustive description of the frags.
I would love to win Etat Libre d’Orange – Like This. It just sounds like such a unique fragrance with its notes of pumpkin, immortelle, ginger and citrus and I imagine it as an exotic, yet tender perfume. I have samples several perfumes from the house and I can tell it is a house “friendly” to my nose and tastes, but ironically, Like This is not one of them. Never spotted it in the stores I have access to.
    Writing from the EU.

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

I enjoyed reading Michelyn’s review and watching Steven’s video on these 3 fragrances to wear for Thanksgiving. It’s fun to see how each fragrance brings back a specific memory of Thanksgiving to different people. I’d love to win a bottle of Kajal Homme II. I live in Maryland USA.

  • I particularly enjoyed Michelyn’s portrait of Thanksgiving at her grandmother’s house – it took me back and made me remember the many wonderful holidays we had when I was a child. The smells running through the house all morning until we ate later that afternoon or evening. There’s a certain magic to it and I think any one of these fragrances would have a similar spark. Regarding Steven’s review, I appreciate how well he broke down all the fragrances, his vivid descriptions made my mouth water. Reading from NC, USA

  • I think PDM’s Oajan sounds wonderful and I would love to give it a try! Amber and cinnamon.. this sounds exactly like my cup of tea. Would love to give this a try! Greetings from CT, USA. Great job Michelyn! Stevens review was also informative.

  • I really like “Like This” the notes sound perfect for Thanksgiving and Fall.carrot, ginger, pumpkin, mandarin, orange blossom. I enjoyed hearing Michelyn’s Grandmother’s Thanksgiving Celebratetion. Steven your picks for Thanksgiving are all perfect. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Like Michelyn, I also have great memories from my grandmothers thanksgivings. I think Michelyn and Steven are doing an incredible job. I have always wanted to try Parfums de Marly Oajan, as I heard it is incredible. Houston Texas

  • Both the video and written reviews were extremely informative. Although I am only familiar with one of the fragrances, their descriptions of all 3 fragrances make them sound like they are perfect staples for this holiday season. Of the 3, I would choose Oajan by Parfums de Marly because that honey and cinnamon combination with an Ambery backbone would be perfect for me and be right up my alley.
    -Texas, USA

  • Your grandmother wasn’t the only one who had to learn what cranberry sauce was! Never being a part of our usual cultural dishes, I didn’t even know it existed until the 6th grade. lol Kidding not kidding. After all these years, Oajan still a staple for the autumn (Michelyn is bang on with it being unisex) along with it’s younger brother Habdan (both excellent layering fragrances btw); but Tilda’s orange concoction is actually a great choice. Incredibly few perfumes with a pumpkin accord as a note and although it may not have the same mass appeal as say, Remarkable People, it really does have an orange quality about it, thanks to that clementine and neroli. I’ll be honest, I intially wasn’t a huge fan of that heliotrope-immortelle combo, but its uniqueness eventually won me over. Haven’t smelled Kajal Homme II, but Steven’s description of spicy festiveness does make it sound like another wonderful pick. Out of the 3, mine would be Oajan. From Canada.

  • PhillySniff143 says:

Michelyn has me googling strufolli recipes. Stephen has me thinking differently about Kajal Homme 2…. I initially was underwhelmed because I was so high on the original. I live in Philadelphia. Should I win, Homme 2 is my choice.

  • Family gathering around the Thanksgiving table is one of my favorite memories. I do love almond and ginger in fragrances. Steven mentioned those notes in Like This. I’m also intrigued by its pumpkin note. Happy Thanksgiving all. Mich USA

  • I mean Steven always does an amazing job at describing all of these superb colognes, he never misses. Mychelyn as well did a stupendous job on this article, these all seem right up on my alley, I’m a fan of sweet fragrances. I would love to win a bottle of Parfums de Marly Oajan. Living in US, Puerto Rico.

  • Great article and you both did a good job selecting 3 fragrances for the holiday. Oajan reminds me of the apple pie my family and I have for dessert on Thanksgiving. But it’s Kajal Homme 2 that I would pick if i won. It has really intoxicating notes that I’m sure make it smell amazing.
    Keep up the good work.
    Chris – from Kansas City

  • I keep on reading and reading about Kajal, but never got the opportunity to try them. Perhaps this is my chance. Please count me in for the Kajal Homme II. I am in Europe. Thank you!

  • My parents are immigrants too. I remember my mother trying to figure out why people would chop up pumpkins and put it in pies
Michelyn is a great storyteller and are descriptions are really interesting and I can smell the perfumes. Steven is the best YouTube reviewer out there.Based on both of them I would like Etat Libre D’Orange Like This and if I could get a second choice it’s Oajan.
    USA

  • Wow these 3 fragrances are great for the holidays !!! Kajal Homme II sounds yummy !!! I’m from Northern California

  • Michelyn describes Oajan as a grownup gourmand and that caught my attention. I’ve read about this perfume before, but had forgotten about it.
Steven’s video on spicy warm & resinous perfumes was short, sweet and informative. I’m obsessed with ambers, and Oajan with cinnamon, labdanum and patchouli is a dream accord. I love the design of the bottle too. I am a Redolessence subscriber. Thanks for the contest! This is fun.
    Canada

  • Thanksgiving is a newer tradition for me. Growing up in Latin America, and coming to Massachusetts, not far from Plymouth, the meaning changed.

Kajal Homme II, sounds great. I wish I can get opportunity to win the giveaway.

Thank you to all the perfumers, reviewers, and this community. I wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving holiday.

  • Love Steven’s videos. His passion really comes through and draws me in. And I love the picture of her thanksgiving memory Michelyn shares with Oajan. It reminds me of memories I make with my fragrances. I would really like oajan. The scent profile sounds perfect for this holiday season.

  • It has been many years since I had anything resembling a big family Thanksgiving and Michelyn’s description of Thanksgiving with her grandmother succeeded at making me nostalgic for those chaotic, food-filled affairs.I’ll have to take Steve’s word on the turkey day qualities of the perfumes he chose as I’m unfamiliar with them. I’ll take a random stab on Oajan, which sounded especially sumptuous.

    Thanks from the USA.

  • trevor_cafleure says:

Relating Oujan to your grandmother’s honey balls reminds me just how declicious I remember it smelling from my sample, great reviews !! Would love to have a gourmand fragrance like Oujan in my collection. (US)

  • Thanks for the opportunity to win something special. Kajal always peaked my interest. Would love to try it.

  • I would love to add Oajan to my PDM collection! Etat Libre always puts out interesting and unique fragrances so would be interested in trying it in the future. But Oajan is the most interesting to me out of the three here.

  • Her description of immigrant grandparents on Thanksgiving sounds like mine too. Having come from Italy there was always an extra pasta dish on Thanksgiving regardless! Steven’s video brought me here and as always it was great. His way of explaining fragrances is always great to hear.

Kayak Homme II.. sounds like Peach Cobbler in a bottle?

    -Mark from the USA.

  • I choose Parfums De Marly Oajan. I’ve always wanted to try a fragrance from Parfums De Marly. Steven and Michelyn both described Oajan as sentimental and perfect for this time of the year. I would love to try this fragrance out and wear it this year for my family Thanksgiving dinner

  • Zaharia Valentin-Iulian says:

PdM Oajan is one of my favourite scents of all time, i love that thing<3. Greetings from Bacau, Romania!

  • Amanda Hodge says:

I love how Michelyn’s article brought me back in time to Thanksgivings at my great grandma’s house and the warm, cozy feeling of the holiday. Steven’s review kept me on my toes as I was so intrigued in how well he described these fragrances as warm, festive, honeyed, spicy and resinous. I would love to enjoy Etat Libre D’Orange Like This! Greetings from Louisiana, USA.

  • Anson MacColl says:

Great video and review Michelyn and Steven! Kajal is new on my radar but I’ve liked what I’ve got to sample from them so far. If I were to win, I’d have to go with the PDM Oajan though. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Great reviews, both from Michelyn and Steven. If I were to win I’d love a bottle of Kajal Homme II. Both Chris Maurice and Rosendo Mateu are stellar perfumers according to me, so you’d think the fragrance in extension is also stellar. And from the descriptions offered by both Michelyn and Steven it seems that is most definately the case.

    I reside in Sweden/EU.

  • “Be grateful in your own hearts. That suffices. Thanksgiving has wings, and flies to its right destination.”
    —Victor Hugo

I love hearing stories about families, who love and support each other in good and bad times. Let we all be calm , and caring on Thanksgiving.
Etat Libre D’Orange Like This , with or without Tilda Swinton in the name i own , at the very end of my second bottle too. For a long time I was wondering why on my second bottle Tilda Swinton part is missing, and I’m happy Michelyn shared a lot of unknown details about the fragrance lately. Awesome pumpkin pie choice for Thanksgiving
First time I’ve smelled Oajan I was so WoW at the the smell, how conplex it was, and how it develops. There’s nothing overbearing, but the blend is really smooth
“On the Parfums de Marly site it is listed as masculine, but don’t worry ladies it is truly unisex, and is an ambery warm perfume where honey and cinnamon are sprinkled on peachy osmanthus.”
Yes , no doubt about it, Oajan is 100% unisex , just like Kajal Homme II .
Dahab I like a lot, it smells like picnic basket full of fruits , juiciness and other surprises.
Kajal Homme II is s different fragrance, but it’s cut from the same , or similar cloth as far as quality. Slightly different opinions:
Steven -> ambery and slightly sweet base
Michelyn -> not sweet, aromatic, and woody base.
“Lady Boss” expression Michelyn used once is so stuck in my head . Fits me and Kajal Homme II really well , the fragrance i’d like to win
    Thank you for the opportunity
    USA

  • Kajal Homme II seems to be close to certain love of mine, based off of both Michelyn’s and Steven’s reviews. There’s not really a possibility of it being a bust for me personally, so I’d love it in my collection. Where I live we don’t really celebrate Thanksgiving, but I think this would work just as well around the other holidays.

Writing to you from Sweden, Europe 🙂

  • I love Michelyn’s reviews and based on them, my choice would be Etat Libre D’Orange Like This. This description sparked my interest the most: “a multihued orange with a bright burst of neroli and yellow mandarin at top, accompanied by pumpkin, ginger and maple syrup-like immortelle.”
Also enjoyed Steven’s reviews – they just confirmed my choice cause he thinks of “Like This” as a perfect spicy perfume for this time of the year.
    Hugs from Croatia, EU ❤️

  • Thanksgiving is my fav holiday by far. Like This is an excellent choice for the celebration. I will have to remember to dig my near empty decant out. Would love a fb. Happy early Thanksgiving. In Us

  • Kajal Homme II (Chris Maurice & Rosendo Mateu) 2021: When I saw the “II” after Kajal Homme II, I thought it might be a flanker of 2015’s classic Kajal Homme. What they have in common are the perfumers (perfumers Chris Maurice and Rosendo Mateau, RIP). Kajal Homme II is a completely different fragrance. The aromatic opening of clary sage, rosemary and lavender add balance to heart of cloves, peach and cinnamon notes. I would love to win the Kajal Homme 11. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

  • Etat Libre D’Orange Like This (Mathilde Bijaoui) 2010: How do you celebrate Thanksgiving? A beautiful description by Michelyn and Steven mentioned this was perfect for Halloween and Thanksgiving. If I am lucky to win I would love to Like this by etat libre d’orange. I am loving the spices. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • From the written potion I found it very interesting the mailman was at grandma’s for Thanksgiving dinner. From the video, I was inclined towards the Kajal II based on the reviews. If chosen I’d like the Kajal Homme II. US

  • I loved the curation for this selection! I didn’t grow up celebrating Thanksgiving so seeing Michelyn and Steven’s reviews it makes me long for the experience and warmth of friends and family reunions in autumn. I’m based in the UK, so I’d like to enter the draw for Etat Libre d’Orange’s Like This. I’ve been a long time fan of some of ELDO’s fragrances and I’m very curious about this one since I’ve never seen pumpkin as a perfume note before. I’d love to see how it plays along the ginger and floral notes, it sounds like the perfect fragrance to wear while taking a stroll in the park on a cold and crisp day.

  • Daniel Nischan says:

Kajal perfumes homme II has always been on my wishlist for the perfect winter fragrance! Living in Arizona winters are very mild so this would be amazing!

  • I haven’t tried any from these three, but I feel that the ELdO would be my favorite.
    I am in Eu. Thanks!

  • I would love love love to win a bottle of Oajan. That is one of my favorites from PDM. Thanks to Steven and Michelyn for their review. They are accurate in their descriptions. New Jersey, USA.

  • I loved the personal touch Michelyn brought to these reviews by talking about the Thanksgiving stories of her grandmother’s home. She has some lovely warm memories to remember her by. As always, also loved Steven’s video reviews. I am a Redolessence subscriber. After listening to Steven and reading Michelyn’s reviews I am not thrilled by Etat Libre D’Orange Like This. On the other hand, Parfums de Marly Oajan seems lovely and were I to win this draw, Parfums de Marly Oajan will be my choice. I guess the lincher was her comment “where honey and cinnamon are sprinkled on peachy osmanthus, reminding me of my great-grandmother’s version of struffoli (honeyballs) which she soaked in honey, cinnamon, and ground orange rind”. Kajal Homme II seems lovely too with its lovely notes, but my first choice is Parfums de Marly Oajan. Thanks for the reviews and draw. From the USA.

  • Thanksgiving is a special holiday.. the choices here are excellent. I enjoyed both reviews. The gourmand aspect of thankgiving is what comes to mind.what caught my interest was Michelyn’s description of Kajal II because I am not a fan of “foody” fragrances. “
The aromatic opening of clary sage, rosemary and lavender add balance to heart of cloves, peach and cinnamon notes”.

Interested in trying Kajal II for sure. USA

  • I love Michelyn’s story about celebration of Thanksgiving day ! I enjoyed Steven video too !
All perfumes descriptions are very beautiful, but I liked more Oajan and would like to win Parfums de Marly Oajan.
    USA

  • I would love to try Oajan. I just started getting into the fragrance game and niche scents sound interesting but I’ve never been able to smell one. Also, love the content and learning about the feelings scents can evoke. Best, from Vancouver, Canada!

  • Michelyn and Steven always do amazing reviews and giveaways together. I really enjoy when they collaborate together.

I also have great memories from my grandmothers thanksgiving dinners. I would like to enter the giveaway for the Parfums de Marly Oajan. I live in Houston Texas.

  • I liked Michelyn’s description of PdM Oajan as reminiscent of stuffoli. My grandmother made similar honey and spice soaked fried dough, although I forget its traditional name. Honey, cinnamon and orange rind sound perfect for cold weather holidays. Thanks for the detailed review Steve! MD, USA.

  • Pumpkin based perfume seems weird to me. Along with weed and ginger, I cannot imagine what it will smell like. The cinnamon with peach (Kajal) seems more appealing to me. same goes for Pdm Oajan that has cinnamon and honey that makes it a warm amber. Since I live in EU my pick would be Kajal Homme II guided by Michelyn that mentioned this not to be the typical sweet gourmand.

Thanks for the opportunity a reader from Greece,EU

  • mvillarreal345 says:

Parfums De Marly Oajan sounds amazing! I am a huge fan of PDM in general and have been dying to get my hands in Oajan. The cinnamon and honey combo present here sounds exquisite.

  • I love thanksgiving since I love sharing with my family. I think that it is a special time to wear a special fragrance. I loved these 3 fragrance since I think they suit perfectly for the ocassion. The one I have not tried yet and would love to win is Parfums de Marly Oajan, I think it must be amazing because of the amber, honey and cinnamon notes. I love them.
    USA here.

  • Thank you Michelyn for the kind words, wishes and letting us know about your Mom , and family gatherings on Thanksgiving. Somehow you made me think of something one of the greatest politicians in American history, John F.Kennedy once said
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them.”
    Happy Thanksgiving
Etat Libre d’Orange Like This backstory is catchy, and I like Tilda Swinton , and eating pumpkin maple desserts
“Parfums de Marly Oajan (WAJE-AHN) is a grownup gourmand which is perfect for Thanksgiving”
Obviously I mispronounced Oajan for a long time. When I think Parfums de Marly , I always think Pegasus first, and the cinnamon and honey Oajan second. The two smell fantastic , last over 10 hours on skin , and projects beyond strong.
So according to Steven Kajal Homme II is compliment getter, interesting. Sure i acknowledge the compliments I receive, i also believe people are more likely to compliment me, and ask about my fragrance if I’m dressed up .
Homme II is dressed sharp very classy, refined, gentlemanly , to my nose at least. I tend to believe I’m that type of guy, Kajal Homme II would be my pick
Thank you Michelyn, Steven and all the brands
    USA

  • My choice is Kahal Homme II. Steven said it has a warm sweet cinnamon peachy vibe. Michelyn describes an aromatic opening with lavender and clary sage, its heart with peach cloves and cinnamon and base with cedar wood. Definitely go for this! Greece, EU

  • Loved Michelyn’s and Steven’s reviews and choices for the season, especially cause they both compare them to classic Thanksgiving smells of pumpkin, spices, cinnamon etc.
I’d love to try Etat Libre D’Orange Like This.
    EU

  • Michelyn’s always sets the stage for Steven’s reviews. I can smell Thanksgiving dinner just by reading her words. It’s my favorite holiday, no presents to stress over, just a great day with friends and family.

I’ve sampled Oajan and I couldn’t get over how honey smooth it was! As a long time subscriber of Redolessence, Steven’s descriptions of all of the fragrances are always clear and well thought out which I appreciate but Oajan has my heart. When he said Oajan was the most reminiscent of Thanksgiving. He was right. Oajan is the fragrance I would like to win.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. In Virginia, USA

  • I’m happy for Michelyn to have found such a joyful family reunion for Thanksgiving.
Like This sound like a very nice fragrance that I have yet to try!
    I’m in the EU.

  • I’m almost done with my sample of Etat Libre D’Orange Like This and I would love a full bottle! Michelyn’s description of a Thanksgiving dessert table is spot on. Steven’s description of the savory and sweet aspects of immortelle also reflects one of the reasons I like this scent so much. I’m in MN, USA.

  • Hi from Romania! I would love to win Kajal Homme II. Steven says it’s not overtly sweet, and Michelyn made me curious about the drydown.

  • cc.alexandra8@gmai.com says:

Great article and video from Mychelin and Steven. I might not celebrate Thanksgiving but I do enjoy some autumn and holidays vibe fragrances. My pick would be Etat Libre D’Orange Like This – i love the idea of playing with a color, sounds like a warm spicy embrace.

Thanks for the great review Steven, Michelyn.

While Thanksgiving is about feasting, I love my fragrances to be more restrained. To this end, I really love the sound of Kajal Homme II. The use of spices, in correlation with a more traditional perfume base, really made it stand out to me as a Thanksgiving fragrance.

I’m sad to hear that Rosendo Mateau (RIP) passed away. Thank you for that nice writeup Michelyn.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Great video by Steven and great article by Michelyn.you guys rock! The sound of Oajan appeals to me and I could share it with my boyfriend
    USA

  • I’d be thrilled to try Oajan. Excited for the cinnamon, honey notes. So appreciate both reviews– sounds like both of you love this one. In the US!

  • I really liked the diversity in Steven’s choice of fragrances for the review-they’re not all just heavy gourmands. I also liked Michelyn’s description of Like This, and had forgotten Tilda Swinton used to be in the name of the fragrance. I would like to win Oajan. I’m in the US

  • If I were blessed with winning any one of these, I’d personally want it to be Kajal Homme II. I don’t personally enjoy sweet or gourmand-leaning fragrances as much as the next guy, so Homme II seems to be my kind of jam. The aromatic opening counteracted by the heart notes of cloves, peach (love), cinnamon (looove), is something that I’ll have to try, even if I were to not win this giveaway. Michelyn and Steven, fantastic reviews as per usual.

    Greetings from Sweden, EU.

  • Steven’s thorough description of each made this such a hard choice! But Michelyn’s mention of Struffoli sealed the deal. I would love to have Parfums de Marly Oajan.
Grateful and hopeful … in California

  • The story of Michelyn is really something that i can relate to, since we celebrate with many foods, lots of relatives and family at my grandmas house and there is always room for anyone that wants to stop by. The review made me go back to when me and my family used to visit my grandma and there was someone at the house enjoying the company or someone rang the bell to join in. Steven’s review on all fragrances is on point, the same as Michelyn’s. Since I have smelled before Kajal Homme II from a sample, my choice would be that fragrance because i want to smell it and enjoy it again(plus it gave me lots of possitive feedback). I live in Greece,EU.

  • I enjoyed Michelyn’s review on Kajal II, being that it is non foody scent. I have some sweet gourmand scents, but do not wear them that often, though I do enjoy Oajan, which I have a sample of. I have never tried Like This, or anything from Kajal, but based on Steven’s review I would enjoy Kajal Homme II the most of the three offerings. Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you for the draw. In the US.

  • By far my favourite is Etat Libre D’Orange Like This. I love it how Mathilde Bijaoui got inspired by Tilda Swinton and Rumi. I would love to win this bottle.
    Hugs from Romania

  • Thanks for the reviews Michelyn and Steven!

I don’t think Thanksgiving is celebrated outside of the US but through TV and Film I think most of us will know the century old tradition where families and loved ones come together to enjoy each other’s company and eat tasty foods.

What particularly interested me in Michelyn’s description of Homme II, was that it is not sweet or foody. I am a person that tends to eat until I cannot stand the smell of food anymore! Wearing a sweet gourmand would make me feel nauseous so a fresh and aromatic scent is something I’d choose for Thanksgiving!

Steven’s calm and clear reviews always make an enjoyable watch. It’s incredible how much information he can share in a short amount of time. It’s never rushed, incomplete or uninteresting. Definitely one of my favourite reviewers on Youtube!

I would love to win Kajal Homme II!

    Greetings from the UK!

Love these choices Michelyn and Steven picked up to celebrate Thanksgiving! Like Michelyn’s grandma I am very curious about this festivity (mind you, I love traditions and holidays in general, LOL!) and what it represents for people in the US. I like the fact that it is really about the family and that people try to be home for Thanksgiving in oder to celebrate with their loved ones.
Like this was recently featured in a Cafleurebon article and so I got my sample out and tried it again after some time: I remembered I liked it but this time I realised…I really really like it!! I love the pumpkin note and I can smell immortelle a lot which I really enjoy. Like Steven says, a truly unique fragrance, but then again I find ELDO’s fragrances quite unique in the world of perfumery, so I’d like to win a full bottle!
Is Mychelin’s family originally from Italy? She speaks about struffoli in the article: love them!!! Greetings from Milan

  • Parfum de Marley is my favorite House. I would love to win a bottle of Oajan. I have smelled it, but I do not own a bottle.

  • I want to win Like this. I love how Michelyn described how her grandma learned all about TG meals and the story of Like this. I thought Steven presented all 3 in a really interesting way! Im from EU

  • When I was living in Spain I had neighbors from Vietnam,I was always welcome in their house. On all holidays, Vietnamese or Spanish they kept reminding me of one traditional proverb they had
“When eating fruit, remember the one who planted the tree.”
It’s what came to mind when I read Michelyn Thanksgiving introduction. Brooklyn, Spain , or Vietnam , ust be respectful of your parents, and the country that gave you the opportunity to thrive, and feed your family
Like This I’ve never tried , ELDO fragrances are kind of unpredictable, Remarkable People for example somehow reminds me of Haribo grapefruit gummy bears, and I was expecting something…. different. The sample came with my bottle of Spice Must Flow , fragrance on a different level compared to the regular Etat Libre d’Orange line. Pumpkin maple, syrup and mandarin ? Why am I so late to try Like This?
Being a vain guy i was so impressed by Sebastian review of Kajal Homme here on Cafleurebon, also his claims it’s one of the best masculine fragrances on the market, spectacular fragrance. Homme II is fresher , herbal, like Michelyn said with woody base.
Oajan is my favorite Parfums de Marly, it’s full , balsamic sweet , one of my favorites . Early spring I bought another 125ml bottle, it’s quite clear how much I love it.
My choice would be Kajal Homme II because of the higher compliment factor Steven mentioned
    Exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • It was nice to hear Michelyn reflect back on her holidays with family. I always enjoy stevens thoughts and way of explaining fragrances for us. As one of my favorite youtube reviewers i have come to trust they way he puts fragrances into words because we have the same taste in fragrance most of the time

My choice if i am a lucky winner would be Parfums De Marley’s Oajan. Happy Holidays to everyone!

Kajal Homme II would be my choice from the above ones. I live in Kansas, USA. The article and the video were very insitefull. Been watching Steven for a long tine now. Really looking forward to reading more articles here.

  • Beautiful story from Michelyn- always interesting to read Michelyn.
    Thanksgiving day is amazing!
    Love Steven videos too.
I would love to win a Full bottle of Oajan simply because it is beautiful.

  • The first perfumes that come to mind for the holiday are Cognoscenti’s No. 19 Warm Carrot, Sarah Horowitz-Thran’s Tapestry for American Perfumer, Australian Private Reserve Carnivale, or DSH’s Cafe Noir; they all smell like places of gathering and celebration. I like how this list covers similar ground, especially Michelyn’s wonderful intro about her grandma. I also found Michelyn’s reviews to be very evocative; I’m now thinking of a Thanksgiving dessert table, loaded with struffoli, candied clementines, and pumpkin pie, in a cozy house surrounded by a thick cedar forest. Like Stephen says in his review, Thanksgiving is about good sweetly-spiced food and good company. Also, I like how Stephen broke down how some of the more standout notes in these fragrances smell—for example, the immortelle in Like This. Thank you both for the great list.

I’m in the midwest, USA. I’d love to win the 100 ml bottle of Kajal Homme II.

  • I enjoyed both the written and video description of Oajan! Hearing someone talk about it definitely gave me a good idea of what to expect out of this fragrance. Oajan is also such a fun word to say haha! I would love to win Oajan
    From the USA

Michelyn and Steven’s choices sound fabulous and seem perfectly suited to the imagery Thanksgiving evokes. I love Michelyn’s account of her grandmother’s Thanksgiving table and immense hospitality! To me that would be one of the things that shape one’s attitude towards socialising for life. The struffoli Michelyn’s great-grandmother used to make sound fabulous and being reminded of the tastes and smells from childhood via a modern day perfume must feel truly special. As always, I have enjoyed the palpable way in which Steven depicts the three perfumes. My choice would be “Like This” – would love a well executed combination of pumpkin, ginger, immortelle and heliotrope. Many thanks from the EU!

  • Michael Prince says:

I love Michelyn’s Written Reviews and Steven’s Video Review for Three Fragrances You Should Be Wearing. Michelyn really goes into great detail about like this with a unique pumpkin note, but also has so much character from it bright and fresh opening of citrus neroli, orange blossom, and ginger with a warm and sweet immortelle note which I think I would enjoy, Steven says Oajan is the quintessential gourmand fragrance that evokes the holidays with it’s warm gourmand nature and exemplary performance and it reminds Michelyn of holiday dessert. I have tried Kajal Homme II and it’s a beautiful fragrance. I am from the USA. If I win I would choose Parfums De Marly Oajan.

    Greetings everyone
Having a big family is like being in possession of a diamond, but having such caring and loving family, is almost like having something on pair with Nizam of Hyderabad , the most expensive Royal jewelry worldwide , in a way even better.
Out of the three brands in Thanksgiving giveaway, I have smelled most from Parfums de Marly, two from Kajal Almaz and Dahab , but Etat Libre d’Orange i don’t know yet.
the cinamom and honey Oajan i know well, Like This and Kajal Homme II i do not.
I don’t think i have smelled pumpkin fragrance before, you could say Like This is kind of unconventional.
I’m interested in Kajal Homme II because of the spices, herbs and the cinnamon. It’s also very much versatile fragrance
    Thank you

I haven’t tried any of these three fragrances, so I found both Michelyn’s and Steven’s reviews to be helpful. Their reviews caused me to be intrigued to try all three of the fragrances. If I win, then I choose “Kajal Homme II” because of the cloves, the resins, the Virginia cedar, and because it seems easy to like. I live in the U.S.A.

  • These were definitely great choices I have two of the three and I will definitely be choosing between the three for turkey day. Oajan is a grown up gourmand. That cinnamon in there is one of the few that I have smelled that I fell in love with. Like This and that pumpkin note with the almond that Steven mentions is very unique but it really works. I love wearing it when the weather drops and I actually wore it last thanksgiving. Now Kajal Homme II is a new one to me but Michelyn mentions Virginia cedar wood and then having clary sage and rosemary and I am interested.

If I win I would definitely like to receive Kajal Homme II
    I live in Dallas, TX

  • What do we have here? According to Michelyn and Steven the best Thanksgiving fragrances 🙂
I also absolutely love when Michelyn is making culinary references , and not just one , but four
    ☆ sweet potato pie
    ☆ cranberry sauce
☆Thanksgiving dessert table with candied clementines and pumpkin pie.
☆ struffoli . I have to guess Michelyn great-grandmother was Napoletana
About the fragrances in the giveaway:
☆ Etat Libre d’Orange Like This to me is ginger and almonds fragrance, rather than pumpkin pie with maple syrup. I see it’s sweeter on Michelyn and Steven
☆ Kajal Homme II is upscale , polished around the edges fragrance
☆ Parfums de Marly Oajan . It’s a toss up for me between Herod and Oajan, for my favorite Parfums de Marly fragrances. Oajan smell like I’m having Cinnamon Rolls , and osmanthus tea infront of me.
I’ll be happy to win Kajal Homme II
Appreciate both reviews, and the giveaway campaign

  • Thanksgiving is not just a holiday centered around food and family , it’s way more. In the context of Thanksgiving and family love, Michelyn is prime example how the term itself refers to bonds characterized by deep affection, respect, loyalty, and healthy attachment in your heart
Speaking of the 3 co-curated Thanksgiving perfumes
    – Etat Libre d’Orange= Experimentum Crucis, fragrance I can’t get enough of. Like This is interesting because of the pumpkin note , and If my memory serves me well, Michelyn told us before that the name is based on a quote from Rumi
    – Homme II from Kajal I imagine , is classy and refined business meetings, and formal occasions fragrance
    -Parfums de Marly Oajan
You caught me soooo off guard with
    “WAJE-AHN is a grownup gourmand”
I’m sure most people are still pronouncing it “OH’-AH’-JAN”
    Fantastic cinnamon and honey fragrance
Kajal Homme II would be great
    Thanks for the draw

  • I’d love to win oajan cause I love Cinnamon frags like Steve mentioned along with some other great notes, I also don’t own any fragrances nearly that expensive lol

  • sephrenia300 says:

Wonderful video and article! I loved learning from Michelyn’s written review that the inspiration for Like This… was more than just pumpkin or fall but rather the entire color of orange in all it’s various facets and ingredients: carrot, ginger, mandarin, orange blossom and maple syrup-like immortelle as well all bringing together the many 3-D facets of fall and Thanksgiving onto one table!

I thought Steven’s video review was very informative and interesting in how he went into depth about the immortelle note in Like This, which he describes as having wheat, fenugreek, and toast elements that are all other warm and “fall”-esque notes. my choice should I win would definitely be Perfumes de Marley Oajan. I live in the US.

  • Happy thanksgiving and thank you so much for the amazing review as always! I recently discovered this blog and your reviews, in conjunction with stevens, are the most descriptive and maybe delectable ones I have found so far.

I loved the sound of Kajal Homme II as spicy and warm fragrances are some of my favorites. I liked your observation that its not sweet, which is something attractive to me, and I liked Stevens overview of the peach note; combined the idea of using peach without much sweetness sounds fascinating.

I live in MA in the US and would love to win Kajal Homme II.
