Teo Cabanel Oh La La Review (Patrice Revillard) 2020 + A Creamy Hazelnut Draw

Teo Cabanel Oh La La

Teo Cabanel Oh La La Lifestyle by Olya Bar©

I truly love all seasons, but those first days of spring always feel a little extra special. The air is still cold, yet you feel the soft whiff of spring lingering nearby. I tend to lust for creamy, comforting scents and buttery suede jackets to make the seasonal transition as smooth and cozy as possible.

Teo Cabanel Oh La La feels like sipping on a warm hazelnut milk latte, wrapped in a dusty lilac color cashmere sweater. There is softness and sensuality woven throughout adding to the perfume’s character and enhancing the structure. It starts with a roasted trace of hazelnuts; one you would smell wafting in the air at your local coffee shop as you slowly wrap your hands around the freshly brewed latte anticipating the taste of the first sip and that perfectly whipped froth on a chilly morning. As the heart exposes the orris and tobacco, it feels like a suede trench coat worn on bare skin in a shade of warm cognac. A hidden gem if you happen to be an iris lover like me. A slow-paced waltz of orris and sandalwood Teo Cabanel Oh La La is a dance of ingredients that know each other well enough to predict each other’s moves without even trying.

We often encounter iris in fragrances as a cold, slightly standoffish persona, wrapped in cold satin-like layers that expose its strong side and make it feel cold to the touch, but in this particular case, Patrice Revillard(read his Young Perfumer article here) gently swaddled it with the warmest companions. The roasted nuttiness of tonka beans enhances the hazelnut facets, while creamy sandalwood plays off the feather-light softness of white musk. I vividly smell the suede accord, not mentioned in the notes,; it must be the orris rubbed sandalwood that is tricking my senses.

There is a common hazy thread interlaced through all Teo Cabanel fragrances. Each perfume the house creates slowly but surely gets a tight grip on you, making you fall in love with them. They whisper close to the skin, making the experience an intimate affair worth getting entangled with. The powdery orris moves through the fragrance offering its tender touch throughout the entire wear. I bury my nose in my wrist and don’t want to let go. I simply can’t resist a smooth buttery iris no matter how hard I try, so I succumb to a full indulgence of my senses and feel no regrets.

The last few hours of Teo Cabanel Oh La La evoke a  hazelnut pastry, but its sweetness is restrained by the woodiness of sandalwood that never quite lets it become a gourmand. The suave projection makes me think of looking at a picture through a soft-focus lens, with its colors and edges slightly getting blurry. As I try to hold on to the feeling of comfort it offers, I take a sip of my latte, reach for the bottle and spritz it all around me, letting my clothes soak up every drop.

Notes: Hazelnut, Saffron, Orris, Tobacco, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, White Musk.

Disclaimer: Bottle of Teo Cabanel Oh La La was generously gifted to me. My opinions, as always, are my own.

  • I like that Teo Cabanel fragrances are aimed at more intimate encounters and have reserved projections. Teo Cabanel Oh La La seems like a gourmand fragrance that is not overly sweet as sweetness is restrained by woody elements. I am in US.

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

I enjoyed Olya’s description of the fragrance as sipping on a warm hazelnut milk latte while wearing a lilac cashmere sweater. Sounds like a cozy fragrance for spring and fall. I live in Maryland USA.

  • Mirea Luca says:

The review was just brilliant. What strikes me about it is the Iris description. I often heard about it to be a lipstick vibe, but a “cold satin-like layers that expose its strong side and make it feel cold to the touch” just left me without words. The fragrance sounds amazing! I live in Romania, EU.

  • Orris! Cashmere sweaters! Chilly spring days- what’s not to love about this review? I feel I must try this fragrance. Thank you for the review, writing from the EU.

  • This fragrance sounds like a smooth and lovely scent. Powdery, buttery iris and sandalwood with touches of hazelnut and deliciousness. Sounds like something my nose will love to experience.
    Maryland, US.

  • The description gives me the impression of a seductive and comforting fragrance. The hazelnut pastry and the tonka makes for a delightful gourmand and the orris and saffron gives it an edge of sophistication and elegance.

  • A gourmand that seems to be great for year round? Definitely would like to try this.

I was lucky to sample Oh La La and I remember loving it. Olya’s description is exactly how I remember this amazing fragrance. It is so warm and cozy but not quite gourmand. Hazelnuts are very prominent, but they are combined with orris and leathery saffron. It is also a very woody and milky fragrance. Everything about is is amazing. I’d love to own a full bottle of this one. I live in Illinois, US.

  • I share Olya’s particular affinity for these first few days of Spring. The ultimate transition period into one of my favorite seasons. I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about many Teo Cabanel fragrances and Oh Là Là is certainly no different. Olya’s comparison of her experience with the fragrance to sipping a warm hazelnut milk latte really made my mouth water. Having worked at a coffee shop throughout college, I developed a deep affinity for those hypnotic scents and it’s something that has become incredibly nostalgic for me. Also, I don’t think I’ve ever hated a fragrance that showcases tobacco, tonka bean, and sandalwood. It would be an absolute pleasure to experience this one so thanks, as always, for the opportunity. Cheers from Illinois, USA!

  • Oh LA LA sounds like the perfect comforting scent to wear while sipping coffee at a cafe. Thanks for another awesome review Olya. Mich USA

  • I kid you not…I’m literally sipping on a latte and wearing a sweater right now. lol Love the imagery of the suede coat on cognac coloured skin that Olya painted in the description and images. Completely agree about the woodiness turning it away from gourmand territory. And I’m certainly like her in that I can’t resist a good buttery iris! Another wonderful review. Haven’t tried many from the brand, but I can imagine Oh La La being a great one for the cooler weather. USA

I’ve heard of Ooh La, La but not Oh La, La. Teo Cabenel sounds familiar, but I can’t remember where. I’m sure it’s from one of the many fragrance YouTube channels I follow. The notes sound great, saffron and tobacco I really like. The way the iris is used is interesting too because I love Iris. Teo C followed….jscorpio… U.S.A.

  • I loved the description of the hazelnut, especially as the skies gear more towards a cozy spring. The woodiness seems to harmonize well with the sweeter notes, maintaining an intimate experience for perfume wearer and smeller alike.

    From Georgia, USA.

  • I have only heard good things from this house and the idea of a soft and mildly sweet hazelnut concoction sounds wonderful. I would love a sip of that latte! In maryland

  • This is one of those fragrances all of the notes of which appeal to me. Olya’s description of it makes it sound as if they work together wonderfully. I’m in Oklahoma, USA. Thanks, as always, for the draw!

  • Olya!!! ❤️❤️ Fantastic review!!! Your description of Oh La La is spot on! I’m wearing my sample now and it does have that hazelnut warm-sweater feel wrapped with buttery orris & sandalwood. Add the lingering tobacco of sitting outside at a Paris cafe, et voila! My experience so far with Teo Cabanel has been great; the fragrances I’ve experienced have a warm, soft, and almost solar feel. This is a lovely scent! ❤️ Thank you for the fabulous opportunity! USA ❤️

  • Teo Cabanel- Oh La La is one of my favorites from the discovery set. Olya’s review was won

  • Teo Cabanel- Oh La La is one of my favorites from the discovery set. Olya’s review was wonderful. It’s definitely a Fragrance for Spring time. Thank you for this Chance. USA

  • Oh La la!!!!! Amazing review! I love love love gourmand notes! And mixed with tonka and musk??? I’m in!!!! I’m from Massachusetts, US. I have my fingers crossed!!! Liked the Facebook page!!!!

  • I really like how Olya described Oh La La as, “Teo Cabanel Oh La La feels like sipping on a warm hazelnut milk latte, wrapped in a dusty lilac color cashmere sweater. There is softness and sensuality woven throughout adding to the perfume’s character and enhancing the structure.” Not only that but her description of the scents progression from opening to mid to base was wonderful. I have sampled this fragrance and I totally get what Olga described, such an amazing and accurate description of a great fragrance. I really enjoyed my sample ans have been considering a bottle so it would be wonderful to win. Thanks for the generous draw, from CT USA.

  • I love the idea of warming up the traditionally cool iris note with the warm notes of tonka, musk and sandalwood. All four notes are my favorites. But it’s the hazelnut twist that intrigues me! Thank you! I am in the US.

  • Dubaiscents says:

This sounds like a winner by Teo Cabanel! What a wonderful review Olya, it makes me want to grab my suede jacket and enjoy the spring weather. US

  • I love iris for the spring! What is even better that the powdery note is warmed up by sandalwood but not two sweet to make it gourmand. Sounds like a perfect combination to me!

I have sampled Oh la la, and I love it. To me in smells like that old dusty drawer in your grandparents’ house. Quite unique and strong, not for the very young. Thank you for the opportunity, i hope to win it as I am quite lucky in Teo Cabanel giveaways! From Romania, EU.

  • I really liked Olya’s description of the scent and the image he proposes of
drinking a hazelnut milk latte, dressed in a cashmere sweater , First of all, because I am a lover of hazelnuts in every way (the nut, the ice cream, the mix with chocolate,…) even in perfumery. Last one I tried with hazelnut in the pyramid is Caron Aimez Moi Comme Je Suis where hazelnut dances with vetiver. Here, we have hazelnut in the top and dances with orris and a good thing to me is that is not a gourmand scent, Patrice Revillard avoids it. I love that Teo Cabanel fragrances are closed to the skin ones: intimate and not loud. I live in Spain, EU.

  • It seems to be a perfect indulging gourmandish fragrance, very much i would like to try Teo Cabanel Oh La La! From Romania with love!

  • What strikes me, is how smooth this fragrance seems to be. Olya’s description of an Iris fragrance that is also creamy, nutty, warm and tender, is so tempting. From France EU.

  • I love the description of the fragrance as a soft sweater and as a huge fan of hazelnut coffee and fragrances without a huge projection, I definitely have to check this one out. I follow both @cafleurebonofficial and @teocabenel as Rhifings. Thank you!

  • Softness and sensuality woven throughout the perfume, roasted trace of hazelnuts, orris, sandalwood and tobacco… Olya described this so tempting!

  • Have not tried anything by this house, although I have heard only good things on the forums and facebook groups I roam. Hazelnut, Tobacco, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean do sound like a winning combination in my books. Thank you! Europe

  • Wow, OH LALA, an enveloping perfume with hazelnut, iris and tobacco. A symphony of wonderful notes. A temptation to which it is very difficult to resist.

  • What strikes me is, “The last few hours of Teo Cabanel Oh La La evoke a hazelnut pastry, but its sweetness is restrained by the woodiness of sandalwood…”. US

  • Constancesuze says:

“As the heart exposes the orris and tobacco, it feels like a suede trench coat worn on bare skin in a shade of warm cognac.”
    Swoon.
I’m curious how this compares to Madeleine from Masque Milano, which gives me similar vibes.
    I’m in the US.

  • Thanks for the review Olya! I would say the smell of leather comes from Saffron and in combination with orris, tonka, and other notes getting softer like suede.
Thank you for the draw and I am in the USA.

  • I love fragrances with a hazelnut note in them. And I was interested in the part where it said that it never becomes quite gourmand. I love those scents that have gourmand touches, but never quite go all the way there. I think it makes them feel cozy and comforting without feeling like you’re wearing a bakery.

  • Forgot to say that I was in the US!

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

I enjoyed how Olya painted the picture of sipping a hazelnut latte while wearing a cognac-colored suede jacket. Pair that with the iris and tobacco and this sounds like a bangin fragrance. I’ve read this resembles Valentino Uomo but kicked up a notch. That sounds tight to me. Appreciate the giveaway opportunity! Many blessings from Virginia, USA!

  • Ooh now this sounds like my cup of tea (or latte). Hazelnut pastry has me sold. The lilac cashmere sweater is some great added imagery as well. I am from New England, USA.

  • Two things caught my attention in Olyas review . First, the picturesque description of the feeling evoked by the notes ( I can picture myself, sipping a latte, in a cashmere sweater).
Secondly, and to me a warning sign, Olya mentioned Oh La La sitting close to the skin, and burying of nose to wrist. I usually like fragrances that leap off of skin. Still, Ive heard so many positive things about the house, I’d like to try it. Philadelphia Pa.

  • Claumarchini says:

Teo Cabanel has been on my wishlist for a while now, and after reading Olya’s review, Oh La La is in pole position!! Each single note is a favourite for me, and when Olya says that in these last days of winter she still feels the need for creamy, comforting fragrances, I can totally relate. It is still quite cold here in Milan, the sky is grey but the much needed rain does not seem to wanting to fall, and that lilac cashmere jumper with my beloved, Fonzie-style, leather jacket, are definitely waiting for me! I really have a soft spot for tonka beans and that nutty feeling, so it would be a treat to be the lucky winner! Greetings from Italy

  • I am a huge fan of Teo Cabanel fragrances. They are so luxurious and high-end without the need to be uppity or pretentious. I love that the fragrances stay close to the skin. I love hazelnut pastry, so I think I would love this perfume. Olya’s review of Oh La La, especially the description of the beautiful smooth buttery iris makes me really want to experience this perfume. I live in California, USA.

  • I read with interest Olya’s review of Teo Cabanel Oh La La especially as I have not experienced hazelnut in a perfume. The skillful use of orris in the perfume Teo Cabanel Oh La La, as described by Olya, interests me too as I like orris perfumes. The other notes are classic and lovely. Thanks for the review and draw. From USA.

  • Hazelnut sounds intriguing, haven’t had such a perfume. The description of the experience with the perfume makes me hungry for it, and for encounters when someone else might experience it as well.

  • Jeremy Upshaw says:

I love the freshness of the powdery spring florals, but the warm nuttiness, leather and tobacco are really an alluring homage to the chilly spring mornings, and cool dusk hours we have here – I love the subtle broadcast of the fragrance, just like a young spring season; not extreme in any way, but so special. Oklahoma USA

  • GennyLeigh says:

Olya’s description of Oh La La as a not too sweet hazelnut pastry on a sandalwood base sounds lovely. The powdery orris and white musk notes seem to give a delicacy to the composition. Like Olya, I am an iris lover too. I would live to try this. MD, USA.

  • This sounds so interesting! I wouldn’t have ever considered orris to be a note combined with hazelnut. But the description of this fragrance has me rethinking that. I love how comforting the fragrance sounds. I’ve never tried any scents from Teo Cabanel so I’d be thrilled to have this be my first.
    I live in the US.

A hazelnut milk latte? Excuse me but I NEED that!!! Sounds absolutely lovely. Also I think the perfumer Patrice is really cute, not that it makes much of a difference, it’s just a plus hehe.

I love this description: “like a suede trench coat worn on bare skin in a shade of warm cognac”

  • Oh La La sounds so delicious in Olya’s description. I loved how this was described to be a subdued, intimate pastry-like (non) gourmand and not a full in your face diabetic cake. I also think hazelnut is quite underused in perfumery so I am interested in smelling it here.
    I live in Denmark.

  • I keep returning to this sensation that the author mentions of a hazelnut latte, of being cozied up in your favorite coffee shop wearing suede and cashmere. With the iris to liven it all up, this seems exactly as described: the perfect transition scent for the beginning teases of Spring. Would love to try this scent.

  • What a beautiful review by Olya who explains Oh La La by Teo Cabanal so well as being a warm hazelnut milk latte that’s soft and sensual. I have to get me a sample because this is the scent I truly love!!. Thanks for the giveaway!!co.loveya. Ca,USA.

  • wandering_nose says:

I love iris in nearly all iterations but need to admit it has the ability to appear cold and reserved which is not my favorite bar very professional situations. Therefore the warm facet of iris featured in this creamy hazelnut milk latte version is truly alluring to me. Visual pairing of iris/ orris fragrances and suede feels so natural and comforting. I adore the cozy and enveloping feeling Olya has created in her review. I follow both @cafleurebonofficial and @teocabenel on IG, under _cathy_reilly_. Thank you from Dublin, Republic of Ireland, EU

  • I liked these fragrance Notes together and especially the tobacco with hazelnut. Tobacco is always for heavy fragrances but this one goes more towards a cozy spring. The woodiness seems to harmonize well with the sweeter notes, maintaining an intimate experience for perfume wearer and smeller alike. Thank you, Olya for this gorgeous review 🙂
    I’m from the USA.

  • I am always interested in iris fragrances and have many of them my own, but I was getting a little bit bored because once you smell few of them, you think you know them all, so this Teo Cabanel Oh La La is something so fresh for me and would love to try it.
Thank you Olya for the review, what I liked the most was how this amazing scent evokes a hazelnut pastry.
    I am in the USA.

  • roxhas1cat says:

I totally imagined myself in a dusty lilac sweater with my hands on a steamy cup of hazelnut latte. Nice visualization. I love the sandalwood keeping it in check to not go too gourmand. I’d love to try this, the kids at my school would probably all want to hang close to me if I wore this fragrance. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Olya’s review of Oh La La and I love the way she has described this fragrance. I love the intricate roasted nutty facets of Hazelnut and Tonka intermingled with Iris, a freshly cut Tobacco, and a creamy Sandalwood. I’ve tried this fragrance and I agree that Patrice Revillard created a masterpiece. I am from the USA.

  • sephrenia300 says:

Interesting review Olya! What strikes me about Olya’s review of Oh La La is how she notes that the iris is featured in this fragrance in a warm and creamy way, with sandalwood and nutty tonka bean and hazelnut, rather than the usual cool and “standoffish” expressions of iris. I have never tried a warm iris fragrance and it sounds very unusual and intriguing. I will definitely make a note to try this one. I live in the US.

  • Olya’s description of the iris note is quite striking. It brought back memories of my initial foray into fragrances where after sampling several fragrances, I ended up buying an iris heavy fragrance that was not initially on my list so Oh La La sounds like it would be right up my alley. Happy Spring time and happy spritzing everybody 🙂 I am in USA and thank you for the kind giveaway.

  • Great review Olya! This one sounds incredible, hazelnut fragrances are rare and this note listing Hazelnut, Saffron, Orris, Tobacco, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, White Musk make it sound DELICIOUS! Teo Cabanel Is a great house, in my opinion and I haven’t tried this one yet, but seems great! I live in Croatia, EU.

  • I think the combination of Orris with the warm
Hazelnut notes that Olya mentions is interesting to me. I love orris but it is not always used in a gourmand type fragrance. This sounds super delicious and would love to try this. Marit Netherlands

  • if this feels like “a suede trench coat worn on bare skin in a shade of warm cognac” then I would love to try it. I enjoy hazelnut in perfumes that are not so sweet. I am from Greece

THanks for the great review Olya.

Absolutely wonderful conation of notes. I love how you captured the essence of this fragrance with a picture of the fragrance in a cozy jacket. I feel like it does a great job of communicating the iris and saffron notes.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Just like Olya , I’m both craving the Spring weather, and atmosphere, but also i don’t want to let go the chilly weather, and cold weather fragrances.
Oh Là Là is right up my alley , pleasant welcoming fragrance.
I do agree with Olya review, and the overall feeling of the fragrance. Unlike her , I barely get any sweetness, and I don’t get the “shade of warm cognac”.
My overall Teo Cabanel rating would be:
    1.Cafè Cabanel
    2.Barkhane
    3.Oh Là Là

  • I’m familiar with just a few Teo Cabanel fragrances, and Oh Là Là, and Cafe Cabanel are both amazing.
Oh Là Là to me it smells similar to Hazelnut Cake with Saffron cream I make at my bakery 2-3 times per week. Eating the cake, while sitting in a middle of iris field = Oh Là Là
I do smell some suede leather, but tobacco and cognac i do not.
Almond Coffee Cake with cup of cappuccino , and freshly squeezed juice is how Cafè Cabanel smells to me.
Appreciate Olya Bar review , and the giveaway campaign

  • After having read from this review, I can tell that I would like to try this fragrance. I can like all of the notes which are listed for it. I would like to add more fragrances to my collection which have hazelnut in it, and this fragrance seems like it might be one of the best ones which has that. I live in the U.S.A. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

Up until I read about Ca Boum on Cafleurebon, Teo Cabanel fragrances were unknown to me . Again Olya Bar was the reviewer, and I decided to order a sample, I also ordered sample of the famous Cafe Cabanel. Ca Boum is good, but Cafe Cabanel is great, and now I own a bottle. There’s more milk and tonka, than coffee , but smells so good
Oh La La feels classy, the tobacco, suede leather and hazelnut are drawing my attention.
    Exciting giveaway, USA

  • The Winter, and the freezing weather can’t , and won’t last forever. Little by little, the days are getting longer , warmer , and less windy.
Oh La La i think is like the last breath of Winter, going into Spring , the hazelnut, iris, tonka and sandalwood could keep the Winter mood a bit longer.
Teo Cabanel original collection I’ve smelled, Les Expressions i have not.
Oha , and Cafe Cabanel i can say are my favorites. Oha is voluptuous rose, gorgeous citrus and tea notes coming through, and Cafe Cabanel smells like my everyday afternoon Califia Farms XX Espresso Cold Brew Coffee
I need to explore more of Teo Cabanel fragrances

  • There are four Teo Cabanel fragrances i know, Oh Là Là , Barkhane, Cafè Cabanel and Ça Boum. All four are really good in their own way.
Olya review of Oh Là Là was stylish and refined. The fragrance is modern , not overly sweet woody-floral , that can easily put you into vacation mode .
And who doesn’t like vacations, I’m thinking about a week in Paris with my husband, suede jacket , small coffee shop, and Kaiser Melange coffee with egg yolk and cognac
