Being an American perfumer, I felt less conventional constraints to creativity. Although we study the same classic fine fragrances, our market is so diverse that it allows for a broad range of tastes that stray far from the classics.
This idea of a sensual liquid breathing came to mind when I tried the brand new 2012 Eau de Parfum versions of the two previous Ellie D Perfume releases Ellie, in 2007, and Ellie Nuit a year later. Michel Roudnitska was the perfumer behind the original extraits and he is again composing the EDP versions.
From the start, we decided to target the high end of the consumer market and we decided to produce “luxury” perfumes in magnificent flacons that are collectibles. I think it was the right choice since these consumers are connoisseurs and enjoy high quality
