As the end of the year arrives it is time to look back over all that the last twelve months have produced and list the best of the year. In 2011, I tested 471 new releases and reviewed 207 of them. Even those numbers didn’t allow me to test half of the new releases for the year. The fast and furious nature of these releases makes it difficult for anyone to truly have a handle on everything that came out in any given year. That being said out of those new fragrances I did try there were some pretty amazing releases.
2011 is the 150-year anniversary of Italian Reunification It should come as no surprise that Italian Xerjoff XJ 17/17 186 was the best commemorative at Exsence. It might be the brightest Xerjoff in the line. The main difference, is the high quality materials they use.
Xerjoff X/J 1861 is another example of the ethos of Xerjoff. Take the best ingredients, combine them with skill, and put them in a beautiful flacon. When done the Xerjoff way it can take the common and make it uncommon. 1861 makes bergamot and lily of the valley something special, just in time for May Day.
