I’m not sure what caught my eye about Eaudemoiselle de Givenchy. The bottle has a simple, almost vintage sweetness to it that I enjoy, and the name is a cute play on words. Eaudemoiselle is a sweet, rosy scent that opens with a pretty big bang.
Women had freed themselves of the stifling layers of clothing and now wore simpler fashion but with that casual elegance I am talking about. This concept has been shoved to the front of my mind because of the new release from Puredistance called Opardu. It has an amazing amount of sophistication and a vintage vibe while still feeling relevant for the present day.
Pierre Guillaume has been fascinating me with his Huitieme Art Parfums line from the beginning. I’ve always found the best of the Huitieme Art Parfums as studies in the possibilities of the central ingredient and the newest and tenth member of the Huitieme Art Parfums family, Podre de Riz is an excellent example of what I am talking about.
The elizabethW line of perfumes is the brainchild of former architect-turned-perfumer Albert Nichols. He named the perfumery after his great-grandmother, who founded a ranch in the Sierra Nevadas. The aromas of the countryside created a love of fragrance; a passion Mr. Nichols was able to bring to life with elizabethW.
As a follow-up to my experience at Robertet with their raw materials and my review of Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme and Vetiver Fatal I wanted to close the loop so to speak. To do this I went Behind the Bottle with Robertet Senior Perfumer Jerome Epinette and asked him about the raw materials he used to create these fragrances.
A Dozen Roses Amber Queen is a fruity floral, with the above-mentioned apricot and clementine creating the golden glow on the rose accord that is a signature component of the line.
