Pierre Guillaume has been fascinating me with his Huitieme Art Parfums line from the beginning. I’ve always found the best of the Huitieme Art Parfums as studies in the possibilities of the central ingredient and the newest and tenth member of the Huitieme Art Parfums family, Podre de Riz is an excellent example of what I am talking about.
Thierry Mugler chose to age four Thierry Mugler fragrances in specially made casks for four weeks with Alien, Angel, A*Men, and Womanity to create The Scent of Leather Collection. Each of the fragrances I received have a significant leather facet to them and it shows up differently in Alien, Angel, and A*Men.
I was able to get my first sniff of Speakeasy at the Frapin presentation at the recent Elements Showcase in New York City. Mark-Antoine Corticchiato has made a fragrance in Speakeasy which is very Frapin but also has much of the aesthetic you find in the Parfum D’Empire line, as well.
For those who are unfamiliar with M. Durbano he has been producing a collection of perfumes entitled Bijoux & Parfums de Pierres Poemes (Stone Poem Perfumes). The previous entries have had obvious gemstone names, to me. So when I opened my package and saw the name of the eighth installation was Heliotrope I was confused. Isn’t heliotrope a flower?
Detaille offers a wide range of fragrances in both Eau de Toilette and classic cologne concentrations. I was fortunate to experience many of the EDTs which comprise the full collection of five feminine fragrances and five masculines.
As I said when I started “It is isn’t, it oughta be..” The one thing that is true is that Eight & Bob was my favorite fragrance I hadn’t tried before at the August 2012 Elements Showcase.
