The fourth version of Elements Showcase the curated trade show for all thing fragrant just wrapped up after two days August 20-12, 2012 in NYC. As the only real US show of its kind, organizers Frederick Bouchardy, Ulrich Lang, and Jeffrey Lawson continue to provide an American alternative to the European trade shows with a New York City attitude.
One of the things I appreciate most about perfumer Juan M. Perez is the way in which he seems to “capture” not only the scent of whatever it is he is framing, in a perfume, but the total feeling or complete olfactory experience that created it. If you have smelled any of Juan’s work you will not be surprised to know Magnolio de Verano, Waters of Aswan, and Gardenia Exuberante come alive.
Perfumer Ragna Rostad-Ruffner of Divine Life Perfume created her Dharma Rose fragrance “to assist you as you walk your path, speak your truth and live your dream …all from the deepest desires of your heart.” Dharma Rose is available in both perfume oil and eau de cologne. I tested both, and they are wonderful, with different personalities.
I think what Providence Perfume Company’s Charna Ethier set out to create was a modern vintage perfume which emulated the richness of Youth Dew while holding out a bit of the brightness of Divine and if that was the desire Divine Noir succeeds on both of those levels.
