I’ve often asked myself what would happen if one of the perfumers responsible for many of those fresh and clean fragrances was given the chance to take that style and refocus it through a niche lens. With the new fragrance from Olfactive Studio, Flashback, I think I have my answer.
Jo Malone London has released a new “collection” based on delightfully sweet to spicy treats and desserts. These fragrances, Lemon Tart, Redcurrant & Cream, Elder Flower & Gooseberry, Ginger biscuit, and Bitter Orange & Chocolate; take one or two notes and highlight them with complimentary notes to bring out their beauty.
If you talk to perfume enthusiasts who especially love vintage perfumes, they will often mention that they particularly enjoy the dirty, animalic notes that make these perfumes growl with sexuality. Is it time for their return?
