Aedes de Venustas Encens Japonais is as cozy and lovely as the golden sparkle of Christmas lights. As the fire logs glow into embers, night wanes into morning, the aromas of fruit and flowers, wood and incense, leather and coffee, dance in the air. My heart feels home.
A limited edition, Sarah Horowitz-Thran Tapestry for American Perfumer smells like a concatenation of the lovingly familiar and the unexpected; it manages to evoke the sort of fragrance Sarah would compose, while incorporating an element of risk. It is this contrast which creates a finely nuanced and intriguing perfume which feels perfect for the current season. I feel that her description of a tapestry woven in rich, deep shades of amber and green is spot-on in its accuracy.
As I go back outside into the cold, I notice a little bit more pep in my step. The air doesn’t seem so menacing now. Just like the Siwa Oasis that provides sanctuary and restoration to continue on through that stark desert, I will make it through winter (and maybe even like it!) with the warm embrace of Memo Paris Siwa.
