Roja Parfums Oceania (Roja Dove) 2019 + Warm-Weather Perfume Giveaway

Oceania by Roja Parfums

Roja Parfums Oceania by Steven

Sometimes, you cannot judge a perfume by its name, or its bottle. That is the case with Roja Parfums Oceania. Interestingly, the composition is not “oceanic” as we have come to expect from a fragrance in this genre. That is, there is nothing salty or marine. Billowy and bright with a big citrus opening, it is energizing and fresh. Oceania is an ambrosial infusion of fruits, aromatics, resins and flowers that will lift your spirits sky-high. Instead of smelling “blue”, the base of galbanum, moss and vetiver adds green touches to one of the more unique of Roja Parfum in recent years. Perfectly unisex and a wonderful warm weather scent. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Top: Lemon, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lime, Mandarin, Litsea Cubeba, Rosemary, Thyme, Lavandin; Heart: Geranium, Jasmin de Grasse, Ylang Ylang, Violet, Jasmine Sambac;

I really like that Oceania despite having a very oceanic name it doesn’t smell salty or marine-like. Foconero from Tiziana Terenzi has that salty composition, this is not that. Rather, it’s very citrusy and energizing. Bright, summery and Steven will not stop raving about how amazing it is, I’m a loyal watcher! Lol. Cheers from NJ, USA.

  • johnmadison says:

Roja Parfum Oceania sounds like the perfect Summer fragrance, as anything with a bright citrus freshness really smells wonderful in warm weather. Im also curious to how the galbanum, moss and vetiver base play into this bright and energizing parfum!
    John – Minnesota, USA

  • Benjamin Sadowskas says:

I love clean & green fragrances and this has many of my favorite notes. I can’t wait to try it!

  • It is interesting that there are very few “oceanic” notes, but so many types of citrus instead. Would love to try it. NV, USA.

  • If this is as unique and wearable as Steven feels, it sounds like a must try! This notes list hits so many of my top favorite all time scents, with nothing to mar it. The almost pure citrus top, floral heart and woody aromatic resins base has me hooked. I’ve never tried Roja, this may need to be my introduction.

  • I collect alot of fragrances, but usually end up liking citrusy fresh scents as it is versatile and fits many situations. I own few Roja parfums, Elysium and Amber Aoud, they are both amazing and I love them both. I would love to win this bottle of Oceania as the notes of citrus cocktail along with jasmin and other woods intrigues me. I’m from Nevada, US. (I’ve posted comments before this on the page, but please delete previous ones)

  • I’ve been intrigued by this being a fresh offering instead of Elysium/Oligarch. I think it sounds great as some of the niche aquatic fragrances can be too much, this sounds balanced enough to be easy to wear. Think we’ve come a long ways from the perfume shop named ‘Ye Olde Civet Cat’.

  • ScentsofMike says:

I have Elysium which I do love so I’m interested to see where this perfume takes it. Steven seems to be very enthusiastic about this one. He stated that it doesn’t really have aquatic notes so I’m intrigued to see what kind of scent profile this has. Sounds great.
    Michael from New Jersey, USA.

  • ScentsAndStuff says:

Just perused the article by Roja Dove and found this tidbit to be interesting:
“Bad smells were believed to be harmful and so the tradition of carrying scent in pomanders became fashionable to protect against illness and plague.”
So you’re saying my fragrance will protect me from COVID?!? Awesomeness!! Lol.
But seriously, I do wish more people believed this anecdotal tidbit to be true…lotsa stinkers walking around nowadays.
Hopefully I’ll be able to cover my own personal stank beneath a veil of the delightful aroma of Oceania!
    Cheers from Pasadena, CA.

  • Oceania is gorgeous fragrance, opens really amazing, shines a lot in hot water, is that type of fragrances that make you happy all day not bored like other ones, unfortunately I can’t afford a full bottle only samples lol. I hope I can make this one for my birthday this month. Good luck everyone from NJ!!!

  • Rafail Mouzakis says:

Oceania is my most compliment niche frag for the summer top 5 ever!!!!!good luck to all !!!!!!!!!

  • ramy william says:

    Perfect summer fragrance.
Very good performance and shines in the heat.
    Bottle is exquisite.

  • hshinkoda says:

I don’t have many citrus, fresh and earthy fragrances and Oceania seems amazing!!! The fresh opening and the dry down green with touches of moss and vetiver…. It is a must try!!!! Mass, US.

  • My favorite genre of fragrances is oceanic fresh fragrances. They always give me a infigurating, refreshing, uplifting mood when I wear them, yet I do not own any niche versions of this genre of scent. Roja’s Oceania sounds like the perfect niche scent to dive into, and I am very intrigued on how good it smells and the quality behind this fragcom favorite

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

i love aquatic fragrances, and it’s always fun to try niche interpretations of of this genre. The use of resins and florals makes this one interesting to me and I’d love to win a full size bottle. I live in Maryland USA.

  • Raul Claudiu says:

I am a 23 yo medical student which is into fragrances,I only smelled Roja’s Elysium which quickly became one of my favorite scents ever so I bought a decant. I really want to try more of Roja’s masterpieces, owning a whole bottle of a scent which also seems so unique and also fresh(my favorite type of perfumes) would be a dream.

  • Dezmond J Hill says:

This os one of my holy grail fragrance point blank From the bottle to the notes of jamsim and juniper berries omg would i be soo greatful to own this

  • I’ve been a subscriber of Steven for a while and have seen him mention this fragrance in a few videos in the past. It has always intrigued me how Roja was able to create a that invokes the feeling of the ocean without any aquatics in it. I love that Michelyn also mentioned that she considers it very unisex. I look forward to trying it one day! Lee from Texas, USA.

  • Jeremy Upshaw says:

This scent sounds amazing… I’ve only had the opportunity to flirt with Elysium – but being a real Acqua Di Parma citrus lover who is always seeking more depth past the lemon peel, this sounds great with a moss and woody undertone – sometimes the Oklahoma 100F humidity + my skin will give the citrus a little too much gasoline in the summer season, and this sounds like an exceptional balance to address that conundrum. – Enid, OK

  • Steve Fernandez says:

Interesting how this is not an Oceanic or Aquatic fragrance. The woodsy aspect of this fragrance is right up my alley. Would love to add this to my collection for my spring/summer scent.

    Los Angeles California USA

  • DONQUIIIXOTE says:

It has such a beautiful bottle. Presentation matters! It looks elegant yet fun. Steven says it is unique, and I heard it being described fizzy and sprite-like, so I look forward to experiencing that. I’d love to win a bottle.

  • Luis Hernandez says:

I would like to try it with my words. I love this fragrance, this smell, simply this feeling. It smells so fresh, I have never smelled anything like it before

  • Chinmay Deshpande says:

Huge fan of this one. The citruses are so bright & uplifting, yet classy like so many Roja fragrances.

  • Randy Herron says:

I have been wanting this fragrance since it was announced a few years back. I really love how Roja composes his fragrances and this one sounds excellent, yet different from his other offerings. Hopefully I can get my hands on this before this upcoming summer! I’m also intrigued by the name, bottle, and how the notes don’t necessarily speak to the previous two.

By the way, I live in the contiguous United States.

  • I’m a fan of Roja Parfums Elysium but I’m intrigued by Oceania and always wanted to smell it. I like how it has ocean in the name but not very aquatic and it makes it more interesting to me.

    – Michigan, USA

  • SEBASTIAN PIRIZ BUZO says:

I didn’t have the pleasure to try this fragrance yet, but I’m looking forward since I’m in love with Elysium. Oceania sounds like the perfect fragrance for summer nights out. Needless to say the bottle looks spectacular.
I live in the U.S., Michigan.

  • I’m a huge fan of this one. The citruses are so bright & uplifting, yet classy so many Roja fragrances. Cheers from Dallas, TX!

  • Blaine Conti says:

I would literally cry if I won this I want this more than anything!!! I love Roja and your videos! Love the floral aquatic idea!

  • I’m a fan of Roja Parfums Elysium but I’m intrigued by Oceania and always wanted to smell it. I like how it has ocean in the name but not very aquatic and it makes it more interesting to me.

(I commented twice because I forgot to log in the first time)

  • fzhang1984 says:

I love a fresh fragrance with citruses and floral vibes. I’ve been interested in Oceania for a long time, but have yet to try it for myself. This review definitely makes me want to go and buy a bottle. I live in California.

  • What intrigues me is that I see the name of the perfume and the design and color of the bottle yet the written opening makes it clear things aren’t what they seem. US

  • I love Roja fragrances. I especially like that Oceania. I would like to be entered in the giveaway. Houston, Tx

  • meenjokeem says:

What really piques my interest is that fact that it’s not a typical “marine” scent with salty/aquatic notes!! The fruits and green notes sound like perfection.

I gave Roja Dove’s article a read, and loved the part where he mentions that “Everything was perfumed, including leather to make gloves and jerkins,” because when I took a trip to Grasse, I learned that it used to be known for its leatherworking and they used rose petals in order to hide/mask the smell of the leather being processed.

    I’m based in Pennsylvania, USA!

  • Oh! I love summer time fresh green scents and the base of galbanum, moss, and vetiver sounds delightful. I live in Missouri, USA
“There was no development in perfumery until the restoration of the monarchy with Charles II when Tuberose, Jasmine, and Frangipani all being popular.”
I picked that quote because those are 3 of my favorite florals.

  • After watching the review video above, I’m very excited to try this out if i get the chance to.

  • Jellyfish says:

Really surprised that there isn’t any ocean or blue notes in this fragrance, but more of a blend of citruses, florals and slightly green notes. Looking at these notes tho, it seems like an amazing clean and uplifting scent for the summer and I’m really intrigued on how all these notes blend together

    From New York City

  • KaleabGebru says:

Roja Parfums Oceania’s blend of marine notes and warm, spicy accords creates a beautiful and complex scent that captures the essence of the ocean. “The History of British Perfumery” by Roja Dove celebrates the creativity and innovation of British perfumes, highlighting their unique character and charm. With its refreshing and uplifting scent, Oceania is the perfect fragrance to wear during summertime, and I would love to have it as my go-to scent for this season, enjoying it every year. Kaleab – Nevada, USA

  • My wife really enjoys bright citrus notes and I enjoy green notes. Oceana sounds like the perfect combination to suit both of our tastes. Living in Kentucky, (USA) affords me more chances to where a high heat fragrance with the fluctuating weather that we have in our region.

  • Roxanne Palicka says:

The bright citrus opening with the mossy dry down sound perfect for summer. Thank you for the giveaway!

  • John Frazier says:

Would love for this to be my first Roja fragrance and a staple in my summer rotation. The variety of citrus and green notes would work wonders on my skin

    John – Washington DC

  • What intrigues me about Oceania is the fact that I’ve been looking for the perfect Spring/Summer fragrance. Lemon, orange etc are some of my favorite notes. My birthday just passed and I would LOVE to have a bottle of this because I definitely can’t afford it. Life has been hard lately and getting a bottle of this would be some light in all this darkness.

  • Justin Benyola says:

Hey there, Justin here coming from Florida. This fragrance has been on my list of must try fragrances. The note break down is what intrigues me the most. It has no aquatic notes but still evokes that type of feeling. It would absolutely work perfectly in my Florida climate, and I will definitely leave love to get my nose on this. Thanks!

  • I’ve heard this was a one of kind fragrance and just from the reviews and looking at the notes I would love to get my hands on this

  • I have the Roja Elysium and would love to add more to my collection.
    I’m from California USA

  • Brian Salisbury says:

New to the fragrance game and starting to gravitate to more niche houses. Oceania has both the quality and the note breakdown that has put it high up on my want list. I live in the US but a good fragrance can transport you anywhere!

  • JulieeCee says:

Living in the swamp that is the DMV (DC, Maryland & Virginia) region of the U.S., I am instantly intrigued by Roja Oceania’s promise of a fresh and unique scent for summer — much more promising than “civet, with its inherent faecal odour, [as] the scent of choice for the discerning gentleman. It is most likely the only material that was able to mask the rank stench of the pervasive and bestial emanations of London [or Washington, DC] and those who inhabited it.” Absolutely loved Roja’s article!

  • Carlos Cruz says:

What intrigues me the most about Oceania is that it seems like a warm weather fragrance without leaning to a generic “blue” scent. I feel this fragrance embodies this line from “The History of English Perfume” really well.

“The timing is perfect as we are living in an age which demands individuality – British perfumery offers a great beacon of light in a world full of the darkness of mediocrity.”

I’d love to get my nose on the fragrance!

    Carlos – California, USA

  • Roja Parfum’s Oceania seems intoxicating with it’s sense of transporting you to a beach with the scent of sea salt in the warm breeze. This would be my 2nd bottle of a Roja Parfum fragrance that I would covent as if it were the last fresh mango on the island. I need a new fragrance by Roja Dove that’ll force me to hide away my signature Amber Aoud on the shelf until autumn. I can already imagine favoring the scent of Oceania more than I love my feet being planted into the sun toasted sands of St. Croix.

  • Roja Parfum’s Oceania is already in my top 8 Roja fragrances without even smelling it yet. How notes transport you to a beach with the warm scent of sea salt in the breeze, I’m sold on this masterpiece. This would be my 2nd bottle of a Roja Parfum fragrance that I would covent as if it were the last fresh fruit of the summer. I need a new fragrance by Roja Dove that’ll force me to hide away my signature Amber Aoud on the shelf until autumn. I can already imagine favoring the scent of Oceania more than I love my feet being planted into the sun toasted sands of St. Croix.

  • This is my favorite from Roja! I bought a sample from TwistedLily along with the winter mens discovery set. I unfortunately can’t buy the full bottle right, but would love the opportunity to own! I’ve also heard La Nuit 3 is amazing… one day 🙂

  • Juan Garces says:

First ROJA’S Bottles are gorgeous, but this one is on real, just pure art.
I’m wondering how it could smell with all the flowers and citrus , woods, vanilla, orris etc etc. I bet the balance is just fenomenal for the coming hot weather.
Good luck to everyone from COLORADO.!!!!

  • This sounds like a beautiful fragrance. When I saw in Stevens video I was very interested. Even though it’s called Oceania I’m glad it’s not an aquatic scent. That actually adds to the mystery of it. Citrus and geranium sound lovely together. Violet is one of my favorite notes. It’s not as common of a note and it is so unique. When a fragrance has that it’s special. I love Roja Dove as a brand you always get the best quality. With his fragrances you can definitely smell the love and care that went into it. If I won this bottle I would treasure it for the rest of my life.

  • Jaron Smith says:

I’ve always been curious about this brand and would love to get my nose on it.

  • Arnold_Morse says:

Roja Parfum Oceania sounds extremely intriguing! i look forward to giving it a go this summer!

  • minhnhatntk2 says:

I got to try Oceania at Neiman Marcus the other day and I’m obsessed with this scent. This bottle is full of citrus, which is perfect for the spring and summer.

  • juan cabrejos says:

I’ve seen Redolessence review and would love to participate in the draw to win this spectacular scent! I can’t afford a Roja myself, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed. 🙂

  • ashrabel01@gmail.com says:

Unique scents are what it’s all about. I don’t have any Roja’s in my collection, but I have smelled a few and they are amazing! Definitely could use a good summer fragrance.

  • Greg Graham Sr says:

Hello Steven and Cafleurebon and Michelyn. ROJA OCEANIA is a favorite of mine and I have had only a sample. The name is totally misleading doesn’t smell like a Aquatic. Lots of Citrus, that last a long time for a fresh fragrance. Thank you for your generosity. Stay safe

  • Sean White says:

I love the bottle design and the idea of a fresh and citrus / musky forward fragrance dominating my summer ambience. I know it would allow me to stand out in a crowd and uplift my spirits. I look forward to owning and rocking this all day and night this summer. I love scents that take me away from the everyday struggle.

  • cdpigford says:

I’ve been dreaming of trying this fragrance!! Everyone that’s gotten their nose on it says how perfect of a summer vacation fragrance it is!! I’m deeply intrigued by the naturals used to create the citrus opening and subtle green base notes. Hello from California!

  • x4iparabola@gmail.com says:

I love this one because it’s bright opening and the energy it gives me on a summer day. I really have been wanting a full bottle especially for this summer.

  • Caleb Godard says:

Great writeup and video. I ADORE Oceania. It’s one of the only “marine” scents I like, I believe because of the lack of calone. The citruses are just gorgeous and dry down lasts forever which is crazy considering it’s so fresh. Absolutely one of my favorite Roja fragrances.

  • Wow, thank you Steve for this review. Oceania is another one that’s on my long list after seeing it on your 2022 summer list as well as a few other reviewers that I watch including Chaos Fragrances 🙂 It’s impressive that Steve thought this is one of Roja’s best works considering how well Rojas are loved (I’ve personally only managed to own Elysium and Enigma both of which are megahits for me) and my yearning for Oceania just got rekindled. I’m in USA

  • Hector Rosario says:

For me that lives in the caribbean Roja Parfums Oceania is a perfect match summer all year.

  • oscarfrag says:

Been hearing about this fragrance for a couple of years now and just assumed it was an aquatic first fresh scent, but come to find out it is not an aquatic fragrance at all. Definitely don’t judge a book by its cover. I have always loved floras such as jasmine and Ylang Ylang but struggled to find an easy wearing fragrance that doesn’t come off too feminine. Maybe the citrus in the fragrance makes for a perfect duo for warmer weather.

  • Randy Leija says:

For me, this is not only a great smell but a great experience. This is probably one of the best perfumes I ever have the chance to smell in my live. A piece of art.

  • John Velazquez says:

I love the fact of the amount of fruit and flowers combinations that are put together. Must smell wonderful.

  • Michael Sessoms says:

I really like the uniqueness of this fragrance. I also enjoy the citrus in the opening of the fragrance. I was initially thrown off buy the name. Yes I live in the continental United States, Pennsylvania

  • Patrick Rortvedt says:

Roja’s perfumes are all quite nice. I’ve only have sampled a few, but each one was unique and complex. I’ve been on the search for an uplifting fresh summer scent. Oceania looks like a solid one with up to 5 hours of elbow length projection and 8 hours on skin. The bright citrus opening and the green, earthy, and woodsy dry down sound great. The best part of Oceania would be the uniqueness factor. The ingredients are much more elaborate than other brands. The bottle also looks great!

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

I don’t have a lot of citrus freshies in my collection. The opening burst of citrus with a tinge of green in the drudown os particularly noteworthy from the reviews. Roja Dove’s history lesson of perfumery in Emgland was very interesting. You think about how folks lived in the past and the hygiene and how it’s improbed over time. What was eye-openimg about that was Roja’s followimg statement, “ It is interesting to think that civet, with its inherent faecal odour, was the scent of choice for the discerning gentleman. It is most likely the only material that was able to mask the rank stench of the pervasive and bestial emanations of London and those who inhabited it.” How bad did it have to be for a fecal odor to be more desirable?! Appreciate the giveaway opportunity! Many thanks from VA, USA.

  • Robert Temple says:

I tested this once and it was the first ocean scent I tried and I liked it. I also got a hint of mint which may have been my own chemistry.

  • Brian Palmer says:

I’ve been saving for a bottle of this. Violet, juniper berry and orris are some of my favorite fragrance notes. Roja Dove does a superb job in balancing the amount of notes he uses. Thank you for the opportunity to be gifted a bottle.

  • FragranceIsMe says:

    Great review Steven…as always 🙂
Also, I truly enjoyed Roja Dove’s article, “The History of British Perfume”. From war paints, to Guelain, to the inspiration of his mother’s “Goodnight Kiss”…I found it to be very informative.

I own several Roja Dove creations and find something unique and very special about each. I’m sure with Oceania, I will find the same. This has been a fragrance on my radar since I heard Steven discuss several times within this past year and a half. A work of art that I look forward to getting my nose on.

    Pennsylvania, USA

  • Doug Armstrong says:

There is so much hype surrounding this fragrance, and to be honest to get my hands on a bottle probably isn’t a realistic option, that being said maybe a sample is an option, anytime I can get my hands on a hype beast from such a respected house I’m all in

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

The green scents really intrigue me about this. I don’t typically like blue fragrance so that excites me. I’d love to win. I live in Indiana.

  • Opening sentence already got my attention. Citrus! Love. Further on with Oceania vibes but taking a different walk along the beach with a green vibe. Sounds divine! Would love to smell! That bottle is gorgeous too. I’m in the US. Thank you.

  • adriana860 says:

I adore aquatic scents and Oceania is one I have been DYING to get my hands on. Bottle is absolutely gorgeous. Would love to win from CT, USA.

  • RonaldProkes17 says:

I must admit I have sort of grown less interested in blue scents over the years – even though that’s where I started my perfume journey. But the use of green notes such as the vetiver and moss in this Roja creation peaks my interest. Also I am a big fan of ylang ylang in perfumes, so perhaps this is the one that gets me back into blue fragrances. Thank you to Twisted Lily for their generosity!

    California, USA.

  • Can’t wait to get my sample. Living in a hotter climate in the oceania region, this has signature scent potential for me.

  • This fragrance has been a surprise for most reviewers I have seen cover it. Like Michelyn stated, Roja chose not to go the traditional aquatic or marine route with this one and instead made it an affair of mosses, aromatics, and zesty citruses. This approach is what has always intrigued me about this fragrance. Aquatics and marine scents have gotten so dull and I’m just tired of them. Steven mentioned the fragrance going in a million different directions as you wear it, which sounds like a crazy but intentional olfactory experience. He also mentioned that its a truly unique fragrance with no other perfumes on the market that match its personality, making it a bit of an enigma in the summer fragrance category. I appreciate you giving us the opportunity to win this. I live in NC, USA.

  • FragranceWoman says:

I thought Oceania was more blue. But the more I read about it the more I realized I was wrong. It’s more of a summer scent with infusion of fruits, aromatics, resins and flowers and that sounds amazing. Moss and vetiver as a base is also something I want to see what Roja did with it.
    Thank you..

    USA

  • Oceania sounds like an absolutely beautiful and unique fragrance. I recently was able to get my first Roja, which was Elysium. It is my first niche fragrance. I have wanted Oceania for a very long time due to the main citrus notes that suite me personally. “ Every creation and everything about it is extremely personal.” This is the quote that stood out the most for me in the article honestly, because of how important fragrances are to particular memories in peoples lives.

  • Faraz Khan says:

Smelled a sample and absolutely loved the smell, and I love the look. To me, this exemplifies “a renaissance of British creative perfumery.”

  • kusudamakitten98 says:

I’m intrigued by Oceania because Steven mentions that it does not smell like any other fresh perfume out there. For this fragrance to top Steven’s lists, it must truly be a wonderful experience. Both Michelyn and Steven mention that this Oceania is not oceanic, so I am also curious how the scent plays out — I am excited about the clean violet and jasmine pairing with the lemon and grapefruit!

    From NJ, USA

  • Sam Koenig says:

As someone interested in niche fragrances wearable for a 19-year-old, this sounds like a dream come true! The composition sounds stunning, and Roja always does a great job.
    – Sam, NJ

  • Unfortunately none of the Rojas I’ve tried last on me but the quality is outstanding. I’m currently working on mu summer scents so this would be a beautiful addition. I love unique summer scents and this having woody elements and a resinous feel is perfect for my taste.

    Indiana USA

  • Dean Masouras II says:

I have been wanting to get a full bottle of Oceania for quite some time. This would start my Roja Dove aquisitions. Thank you for the opportunity to win a full bottle presentation of Roja Dove Oceania.
    Deano-Fayetteville,NC

  • I always assumed this one was aquatic because of the name but thanks to Redolessence, Stephen, I now know it’s not. Much more interested in trying this.

  • I review fragrances for the Hispanic community, and Oceania, although seems to refer to an oceanic fragrance, the notes points more to a fresh and sweet fragrance that could resemble not only the ocean but also the land of Oceania. Thank you! Gabe.

  • Alma Toledo says:

To be able to smell, wear and experience a parfum that is considered by Stephen “Roja’s best to date with nothing that resembles it before or after” makes me raise my hand in awe. I wish to be part of the ones uplifted by Oceania! GRACIAS!

  • I review fragrances for the Hispanic community, and Oceania seems to be a fresh and sweet perfume that resembles not only the ocean but land of Oceania. Thanks!
    From San Bernardino, California.

  • Roja Oceania is a fresh fragrance with rose and mint vibes though not major. Lemon, grapefruit, violet are some of the most noticeable notes and despite the name, it does not smell like an aquatic fragrance. I am in US.

  • Living in Miami I always like to try Roja Dove Oceania type of fragrances. I love a lot of Roja’s fragrances. This one I really need to have, specially after watching Steven’s review.

  • chrisskins says:

Roja Dove + a marine scent = curious. I wouldn’t expect him to weigh in on aquatic but very glad he left the saltiness of briny sea out of it. I love that it is described as “billowy and bright”. Plus gorgeous bottle. I live in NY.

  • This sounds like the perfect warm weather perfume! Really
curious to see how the bright citrusy notes are balanced out by the deeper resins and musk in the base. I do live in the contiguous US.

And I really enjoyed Roja Dove’s article! This was such a beautiful sentiment:
“I know I will never have children so I thought the way I can try to do something to potentially ensure the family name doesn’t die out is by creating commercially available scents. Every creation and everything about it is extremely personal.”

  • xmichaelx12 says:

I really like the name Oceania. The notes sounds very beautiful and well combined. I own several Roja Perfumes. The bottle looks gorgeous. I would love to have Oceania as a spring/summer signature scent.

  • Oceania is a fantastic, unique, warm weather, upscale fragrance. I enjoy wearing Oceania. It makes me feel alive. Truly a fine example of British perfumery! Texas here.

  • Michelyn saying that it’s a perfect unisex warm weather scent is what I’m interested in. Summer is coming shortly and after all this rain we’ve had in Southern California, I’m expecting it to be a scorcher of a summer. I hope so at least, the beach is calling! Thank you for the opportunity.

  • Im intrigued by the notes. I’ve been looking for a niche fragrance for the spring and summer time i might order a sample of Oceania and give it a try. TX, USA

  • I am huge fan of Roja Parfums! I have never smelled Oceania but I have watched reviews and heard great things. I’m looking for a summer fragrance, could Oceania be it for me?

  • jarednfagan says:

“Boil lavender in water and soak clothes in it” sounds good to me!
I own Elysiam which is so artfully crafted; I would loved to receive Oceania. It sounds wonderfully different.

  • This is my type of hot weather fragrance. A lot of citrus at the top when stepping outside always lift me up, The lavender for the right amount of sweetness is a good touch. I’m glad to see it is a bit green as well. I tend to prefer natural smelling fragrances such as this for the summertime. Looking forward to trying it!
    Cheers from Illinois, USA

I recently purchased my first fragrance from Roja Parfums which was Elysium, and I was blown away with quality of the fragrance! I’ve heard a lot about Oceania and really would like for it to my second fragrance from Roja Parfums!

  • Ahh man when I first sampled this, it smelled of fresh 7up.. then after a year I gave this another wiff from my friends curation.. and wow, how aging just makes everything so lovely! Now I’m on the hunt for a bottle! I hope this time I get lucky!

I could use a scent that will life my spirits right now. This sounds great! New Jersey, USA

  • Really looking forward to trying this one. It sounds like an amazing summer scent. Definitely one I have hoped to get for a while now.

  • I love how Michelyn described Oceania as bright and green instead of the typical “blue” ocean scent, as that leans more to my preference. Steven’s description of it as being clean, slightly green and citrusy floral makes it sound perfect the warmed weather coming. I would love to win a bottle! I also read Roja Dove’s article on the history of British perfumery, which was fascinating. My favorite fact was that “Bad smells were believed to be harmful and so the tradition of carrying scent in pomanders became fashionable to protect against illness and plague.” I’m in MN, USA.

  • Such a beautiful bottle! I am interested in trying Oceania for myself as it was described to be a green take rather than aquatic. We could all use bright and uplifting right now. Thanks for the opportunity! KY/USA

  • Personally I always lean towards a more dark and warm fragrances. However I’ve been wanting some more fresh and unique and this one really caught my attention. I’ve heard it smells similar to sprite which really makes me curious.

  • BlakeStarr says:

I recently got into niche fragrances after years of wearing only D&G and YSL for the last 5 years. I since have went down the rabbit hole and fragrances is all I talk about. I need to smell more Roja fragrances but I no longer blind buy.

  • Garth G Wright says:

This fragrance is magical! It’s subtle yet powerful, light and airy, yet deep and rich. Absolutely full bottle worthy

  • Rey Arturo says:

It is very true that we cannot and must not judge a fragrance by its name or by the bottle. I have been taken a back many times after judging certain fragrances on the appearance or name alone thinking I will probably not like this but the contrary has happened; I’ve a fallen in love with them. Thanks for the opportunity on this beautiful blue ( but not blue ) fragrance 🙂

  • Paul Ransom says:

Steven has been hyping this fragrance for years. The notes alone sound fantastic. The combination seems like it would be your quintessential complex summer time niche scent. Definitely not your ordinary citrus scent. I live in the USA.

  • bhernandez says:

I always wanted to try Roja Parfum fragrances, and I wish I can win this giveaway.

I like the description of Oceania: clean, fresh, and green with a base of Vetiver. Also, I like lavander.
As Steven said, it has a good longevity, and a projection for a fresh fragrance,

Thanks in advance to Twisted Lily for this giveaway and to Çafleurebon for this opportunity.

I’ve tried a sample of Oceania, and it truly is exquisite. I would love to have a bottle of this for the upcoming warmer months. Good luck to everyone in the giveaway.

  • I’ve never been a fan of marine fragrances, so Oceania sounds like what I want in summer. I love citrus of all kinds and I think I would enjoy this one. The mix of citrus and green aromatics would be a hit for me.

I would love to win this one. Thanks for the giveaway. In Virginia, USA.

This ROJA Freshie sounds amazing for the upcoming warmer months. Love the citrus!

  • Bonnie J Beck says:

I love fresh fragrances. It is interesting that Roja named the fragrance Oceania being that there are no “ocean” notes. Dana Point, CA

  • Trinity33 says:

Oceania sounds like a lovely citrus forward summer fragrance that rests on a green (moss, galbanum, vetiver) base rather than the expected blue (salty, aquatic) one. According to Steve this is unique, unisex and wearable. MD, USA

What intrigues me about oceania is not just the juice but the presentation as a whole. The bottle is beautiful and invokes a sense of peace. I love how roja dove creates his fragrance with such passion and knowledge. his fragrances are truly masterpieces and to have this in my collection would mean the world. GoodLuck everyone and thank you so much for this oppertunity.

  • Odudu J Akpan says:

Elysium is is great and got me curious to try more Roja fragrancs especially the fresh offering. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Oceania and I’m almost sure it’s something I like from the description from Steven’s informative video as usual.
    Jacob, Chicago, IL, USA.

  • It always piques my interest when a house I respect comes in with a fragrance I might never buy myself because of the wide range of notes I don’t normally wear. Bergamot and sandalwood check. So many green herbals and cubeba? What? You guys always find a way to make them sound interesting and I do love the sea. USA.

  • Thank you for the clarification. I have definitely skipped over this scent in the past on the assumption it would be marine. The note list looks lovely, though, and from Steven’s review, it sounds as though it will be a lovely summer fragrance. As someone who loves citrus and green fragrances in the warmer weather, this sounds like one I should try. Best from Kris in NC, USA.

One of my favorites Is Erolfa from Creed. I’ve heard that this is similar but takes it to another level. Would love to try this one!

I bought a 10ml decant of this & it was love at first smell. Michelin was spot on describing this gem. What I love the most about Roja Dove fragrances are the high quality materials Roja uses & those caps! Absolutely gorgeous presentation as always!

  • Oceania is crafted by the masterful Roja Dove whose fragrances I have just began to look into. This one is still on my bucket list. Can’t wait to try it!

  • PAUL SANCHEZ says:

I’ve been following Steven for a while and because of his prior recommendations of Oceania I bought a sample. It’s a small sample and I’ve been babying it for some time now, treasuring it lol. Oceania is so enjoyable despite not being salty or marine. To me it’s collection of citruses with florals that’s vibrant and classy. Such a good mood scent! I’m Paul Sanchez and a fan of Cafleurebon/Steven from Atlanta, Ga.

  • Steven describes this as a lovely fragrance. I love complex summer fragrances and this would be a perfect addition to the collection!

  • Amanda32828 says:

I would love to win this perfume because of the unique notes like Juniper, orris labdanum which are notes I commonly do not see in perfumes. I find it very intriguing that this perfume is not described as oceanic it is explained more blowey and and bright. Also I believe the Roja Dove brand speaks for itself, the quality materials and the bottles workmanship its outstanding and top of the line. Commenting from Orlando, FL. USA.

Lately I have been deeply appreciating citrus forward scents, Oceania sounds exactly like what I love from them

“… Today the only feeling that comes close is the frenetic hubbub that one experiences before a great train journey like that of the Orient Express – where there is still a strong element of glamour and expectation, fuelled by the knowledge that there isn’t a later train and that the journey itself will be full of wonder – probably a once in a lifetimes experience.” – Roja Dove

I’m in love with this fragrance! Recently received a sample of Oceania to go with my bottle of Elysium, and wow, was I blown away with how good it smells. The citrus notes, mixed with that hint of floral was simply intoxicating to wear, and I imagine even better in the upcoming warmer months. Thank you as always with your generosity in these giveaways!

  • I really enjoy citrus/fresh fragrances as they tend to be more versatile and suitable for everyday wear (tends to be warm most year round for me). I’m interested to see how the fragrance dries and shifts on my skin over time alongside with how different this compares to other citrus fragrances based on the comment Steven made on it’s uniqueness. From TX, USA.

  • Sound like a great fresh summer fragrance. The bright citrus paired with notes of violet, moss and vetiver is intriguing. NY, USA

  • Another gorgeous bottle from Roja! Excited to smell this green, citrus fragrance. The most intriguing thing seems to be the name, which you would not expect to be paired with the juice. Thank you from Oregon, USA

  • The thought of a fragrance that captures “the smell of the openness of the sea with its tangy salt-odour” without the usual aquatic notes definitely intrigues me.

  • fluffy8oh8 says:

What intrigues me about Roja Parfums Oceania is that it’s not your typical run on the mill salty/aquatic type fragrance from what I’ve been hearing. Sounds like Oceania would be a great summer banger with the citrus/fruit notes and I would love to get my nose on this one.
    – Huntington Beach, CA

  • RobsBored says:

What intrigues me is how bright and fresh it is. It’s pretty warm where I live so I think it would be perfect for that weather. I honestly also love the bottle design as well.

  • I love the bottle of Roja Parfums Oceania. So elegant. From both Michelyn’s introduction and Steven’s video review, I like that Oceania is a unisex perfume, perfect for warm weather, and Steven talking about it being unique, and unlike Aqua di Geo or Davidoff Cool Water. I haven’t tried anything by Roja Parfums, yet, so am excited about this very generous draw from Twisted Lily. I am a Redolessence subscriber and love Steven’s video reviews and Michelyn’s introductions to perfumes.

I didn’t know Roja Dove was a contributor to Cafleurebon. I checked out the referenced article and liked what he said about Penhaligon’s. – my favorite British brand. Here’s a quote from that article – “In much the same way, the Cornish perfumery Penhaligon’s have reinvented themselves, whilst remaining true to their routes with scents like Juniper Sling and Tralala, which in many ways make me think of the smart new comer, Shay and Blue by my friend Dom de Vetta.”

Thanks for the review of Roja Parfums Oceania and draw. From continental United States.

  • Like Michelyn pointed out in her introduction, I would expect a perfume named “Oceania” to be a traditional aquatic, but instead it sounds like a green citrus-spiked tropical medley. The mossy galbanum and vetiver base further defies expectations, but also sounds very robust. Steven even pointed out how it includes lots of resins and described it as earthy. I particularly liked how Steven broke down the opening; he highlighted the citrus ratios and how the included herbs enhance those notes. Oceania sounds very original, easy to wear, and perfect for rapidly warming weather in my part of the world.

Also, thanks for linking to Roja Dove’s post about British Perfumery. I found this passage really interesting: “Everything was perfumed, including leather to make gloves and jerkins, as well as necklaces and girdles which were made from a scented paste which was rolled into balls that were pierced and strung. Elizabethans employed full-time room fumigators and professional perfumers traveled the country to carry out the task for the wealthy.” Excellent, detailed post.

I’m in the contiguous U.S. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Such a high level of perfumery Roja Dove is .
Steven and Michelyn combined take on Oceania made me think of making the Classic Grapefruit and Rosemarie Olive Oil Cake , and later on sharing it with friends with bergamot juice, while sitting on the beach on a tropical island. Exactly what I’m thinking about right now. Upscale special occasions, but also versatile fragrance.
Sweetie Aoud , fragrance made to mimic the smell of French Pastry Shop, and particularly freshly baked croissants is my favorite Roja Dove , Creation-E is my second favorite , hard to get invited into , old private gentleman’s club , with cognac and tobacco smell lingering all over it.
I was not aware of Roja Dove contribution , being a Pastry Chef my quote/s would be:

“My father would always insist on driving – the journey was full of ritual. The first was the scent and flavour of barley sugar from the travel tins of sweets that accompanied us – a strange idea from a bygone age when sweets were treats.
    …..
Everything about our holidays revolved around that idea – treats.
    ……
I remember the change in topography – the hills and the red soil told me we had arrived in Devon with its promise of cream teas, clotted cream, and ice-cream. It seemed like paradise.”

    Love it !!!!
Most people in US don’t know what a cream tea is , so basically it’s traditional British afternoon tea , essentially a meal , with tea , scones , clotted cream , butter and of course jam.
Appreciate the two reviews , and the giveaway campaign

  • Another great video review by Steven of ((*Roja Parfums Oceania))) What intrigued me about Roja Parfums Oceania was that it’s not an aquatic scent but a clean very citrusy floral unique charming scent. I would truly love to try and wear this fragrance this summer. Thanks for such an amazing giveaway! Greetings from the USA.

  • To me it intrigues me that a warm weather fragrance could have vanilla and benzoin and how would that work alongside the fresh citrus at the top. I live in Nashville, TN

  • Regis Monkton says:

I’m very fond of at least some “blue”-style fragrances which are at least somewhat “green” at the same time, e.g. Issey Miyake “L’Eau Bleue D’Issey” is one of my favorite fragrances. I’m intrigued to try “Oceania” because of its list of notes, because I’m very fond of two Roja Parfums releases so far, and because Michelyn described it as: “Oceania is an ambrosial infusion of fruits, aromatics, resins and flowers that will lift your spirits sky-high. Instead of smelling “blue”, the base of galbanum, moss and vetiver adds green touches to one of the more unique of Roja Parfum in recent years.” Also, I’m intrigued to try it because Steven described it as unique. I live in MD, U.S.A.

I appreciate learning about perfumery from Roja Dove by watching his YouTube videos on perfumery, so, of course, I appreciated reading from the article he wrote. I appreciated learning about some of the history of some of those British companies. For a while now, I’ve been fond of lavender and Yardley’s lavender soap (and I’m not fond of the smell of civet musk), so I appreciated when Roja said: “Yardley’s Lavender offered a much appreciated new freshness.”

  • I love the thought of Oceania being a more “blue green” than strictly “blue” fragrance, with the addition of mossy notes. As my fragrance wardrobe tends toward the more spicy, vanillic and oud-forward side, adding Oceania into my rotation would be a real standout from my usual haunts and a massive improvement to my summer fragrance lineup. As for Roja Dove’s previous article, I loved this quote pertaining to the use of lavender:
“‘Boil, it in water, wet thy shirt in it, dry it again and wear it.” We grow lavender in our backyard. My friend who is an herbalist makes a fantastic lavender linen spray. She gifted some for my birthday and we regularly douse our bedding and clothing in its splendor! Thanks for this generous draw.

  • Oh boy, I really love Roja Parfums fragrances.
I thinak that Oceania is the perfect fragrance for the beach or the summer itself. I love the natural ingredients they use, they are really top notach. I think that Michelyn and Steven did a fantastiac job here.

Oceania i have no experience with. Leaning non–marine doesn’t bother me one bit , I relish it.
The the best citruses available , violet , spices , all smoothen with cedar and a bit of vanilla . Sounds really, really good, and I also think , it would be more upscale Summer occasions fragrance.
I’m also curious about how good of a fragrance Oceania is , if Steven would characterize it as “exuberant”
I was unaware of Roja Dove authoring an article on Cafleurebon, my favorite quote of it is

“Personally, given our rich scented heritage, I think it’s incredibly exciting to see how British perfumes are emerging once again from our green and pleasant lands, becoming the deserved focus of global attention once again which I of course play my own part in. Having worked to create the world’s first Haute Parfumerie in Harrods, which has started a global trend, and having made bespoke perfumes for years, I launched Roja Parfums on July 2nd 2011.”

Favorite Roja Dove Vetiver Pour Homme , Parfum Cologne and Creation-E Parfum . Both I’m a huge fan of , both are in my possession.
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA

I can’t help, but to acknowledge Roja Dove passion for everything high quality, classy , and refined. Straight to the point genuine person , and proud ambassador of all British .
Yes , I was already aware of the article.

“The greatest accolade of my working career was when I was invited to number 10 Downing Street, the home of our government, and left having been made a Creative Ambassador for Great Britain. I was, and am, so unbelievably proud as everything I do is based around a fundamental passion and love for perfumery.”

My opinion of Oceania is similar to what Michelyn, and Steven are getting, but not exactly the same. The drydown is where we slightly differ. I barely get galbanum, if any , but I do get hefty dose of iris , juniper berries and resins.
What’s also interesting, is that despite my really dry skin , from my sample I can tell Oceania is a long lasting classy fragrance , at least on me.
If I have to rate my favorite Roja Dove fragrances:
    1. Vintage paper label Enigma Pure Parfum
    2. Sweetie Aoud/ Manhattan
    3. Bergamot Extrait (discontinued)

Thanks for the nice review Steven!

It’s really interesting that there is no sense of an aquatic in this fragrance.

I love that this opens with so much citrus – a wonderful harkening to summer. Geranium adds a touch of wateriness, which I just love, along with the white florals and woodiness.

This sounds like a perfect all year, all situation scent, for anyone and everyone.

  • “My love of perfumery started with a goodnight kiss from my mother. I have been working for three years on a scent that will capture the idea of that goodnight kiss – it is almost there.”

I never knew of the the long term partnership between Roja Dove and Cafleurebon , good to know.
Adventurous, classy ,different fragrances with its own DNA , and look , in my opinion the house of Roja Dove is literally the epitome the niche, and high end perfumery. I love his appreciation for his mother too.
Both Steven and Michelyn are obviously impressed by Oceania . I don’t know the fragrance, but I just know they are right. Almost feels like the fragrance was made for Steven’s perfect warm weather vacation.
I’m sure some would say “another fresh fragrance” , but i would never get enough of such chic , confident fragrances , made for those who can appreciate the elegance of the aroma. Splendid one i presume, Roja Dove fragrance can’t be run of a mill , plus we have Michelyn reassurance
“one of the more unique of Roja Parfum in recent years.”
Oceania I like because of the citruses, woody and resinous base , and as a whole happy vibe.
As for Roja Dove the only one I have the pleasure of owning is Elysium Pour Homme – the blue bottle, but because of Steven and Michelyn excitement , I really want to win Oceania .
Thank for the gorgeous draw. Whoever wins , will be really lucky , hopefully it would be me.

  • This sounds so lovely. I enjoy light, fresh and floral fragrances, and this includes so many notes that I love, but have never had in combination together.
I love the ocean and appreciate the concept of a fragrance inspired by the ocean but not intended to be literally ocean-y. It sounds beautiful.
As an aside, I became interested in fragrances and reviews during COVID isolation, and have enjoyed Steven’s video reviews on Redolessence for a while, so just want to add a “Thank You” for that.

  • Oftentimes we associate summertime memories with sights, sounds, and experiences we can see with our eyes. However, for me, scent is perhaps the most powerful force in memory making. One sniff of something can teleport me back to a moment. Roja Oceania encapsulates exactly the type of smell I want to forever associate with the memories that I make this summer – a fragrance expertly crafted by one of the worlds finest fragrance houses. Although I haven’t smelled the fragrance, I can envision being engulfed in its citrusy aura as I experience life with my friends and loved ones, exploring new places and meeting new people along the way – with the scent of grapefruit, lavender, and orange coming along with me. I’m excited by the idea of picking up a bottle of Roja Oceania years from now and immediately being placed in Summer 2023.

  • I got Oceania Burlington combo from Roja site with Oceania being a blind buy. Burlington is one of my fav for summer and Oceania is working its way up the list! You’d think all the citrus fragrances would start selling the same but Oceania takes it to another level! Great fragrance! Great review from Steven and Michelyn!
    NJ, USA

  • All Roja fragrances I have smelled are deep , and never linear , and Oceania is one of those summer gems you’ll never forget. I sampled the fragrance, and i tend to believe the name of the is related not to the ocean, but to Oceania , the semi-subtropical continent, and in that sense the fragrance is correct , for not being “oceanic”.
I don’t know where Roja sourced his citruses, particularly the lemon for this one, one of the best lemon in a fragrance I have ever put my nose to.
The quality of ingredients in Oceania is undeniable, wonderful lemon opening, then the grapefruit, bergamot, lavender and other herbs come into play. I is unique in a good way, but I find surprising that Michelyn never mentioned juniper berries . The way the fragrance smells to me after 30-40min , is dominated my the melange of citruses, woods , jasmine and powerful gin aroma , coming from the juniper berries. I like the way Oceania creates a nice scent bubble around the wearer , and lasts at least 7 hours. Michelyn and Steven co-review, and my knowledge of the fragrance almost brought me to Santorini in Greece , sitting on the balcony of a luxury villa, enjoying the sunset with sparkling Gin and Rosemary Lemonade Cocktail in hand.
I think I’ve read Roja and Cafleurebon collaboration before, it was linked in one of C. lockdown giveaways . I read the whole thing again, and the quote I’d like to share is:

“Many people make comment and opine about it – generally very kindly – but I have never spoken openly about my decision to launch a commercial brand. My mother once said how sad she was that with this generation of the family, the family name dies out.”

Splendid approach, just like one of the most famous quotes in storytelling

“Be true to who you are and the family name you bare.”
    – Gordon B. Hinckley

Risque for men is in my possession – phenomenal scent , and the best Roja Dove fragrance i’m familiar with , and one of the best fragrance i’ve ever smelled. It’s marketed for men only, but it’s 100% unisex to me-as a woman i don’t have a problem wearing it.In US is known as Creation-R…. i still don’t know why. Maybe it’s the same thing like Enigma -> Creation-E.
Inspired by the co-review, I’ll treat myself with
    Gin and Rosemary Lemonade Cocktail

Very nice review Steven and Michelyn! What intrigues me about Roja Parfums Oceania is learning that, despite the name Oceania, is not “oceanic” salty, marine, or the “blue” sense. the dreaded “blue” fragrance, ubiquitous in malls across America, are a huge turn off to me. A fragrance that is instead energizing and fresh, bursting with zingy fruits, aromatics, resins and flowers instead sound right up my ally for spring and summer! And with galbanum being one of my favorite notes ever, particularly in fresh fragrances for warm weather, i am sure Oceania will be an absolute adore for me!

I also really enjoyed Roja Dove’s article “The History of British Perfume. A quote I really enjoyed from that article was “Bad smells were believed to be harmful and so the tradition of carrying scent in pomanders became fashionable to protect against illness and plague. Henry V carried one made from solid gold at the Battle of Agincourt, filled with musk, rose, spices, and ambergris, which was the origin of the clove covered orange which reminded people of that golden orb stuffed with exotic spices.” I love the idea of wearable perfume as jewelry, and Henry V’s pomander sounds like it was filled with just the type of fragrance I love – musky, spicy, and animalic with a floral heart.

What intrigues me about Roja Parfums Oceania is learning how Steven describes this unique DNA for a warm weather citrus based fragrance that definitely has depth and complexity. For the name Oceania it also doesn’t have any aquatic or Ozonic notes which I found interesting. If Steven says it’s a top 10 worthy summer fragrance I value his opinion and would love the opportunity to win this beautiful fragrance. I am from the USA.
