How many niche perfume house can tout nearly 100 years of composing fine perfumery?  Spanish Perfumer Ramon Monegal is the 4th generation of the Monegal family, founders of Myrurgia (Maja being one of the most famous perfumes of all time). He worked for various companies before starting his eponymous brand in 2007 and releasing his first perfumes in 2009.

Senor Monegal is inspired by the beauty of his native country and his travels, using ingredients to tell scented stories of terroir, in his six distinct collection. Each perfume is composed of ingredients that Senor Monegal uses like words, thus  the distinctive bottle which an old-fashioned inkwell with a flip-top. In today’s video, Steven Gavrielatos of Redolessence and CaFleureBon reviews three he believes you should be wearing in 2022 especially for the winter: Ramon Monegal Bravo from the Spanish line, Next to Me from the Fantasy line and CaféDelMar from the Ibiza line.

Ramon Monegal Bravo (2015):  Deep, dark Spanish leather with a fruity and musky fragrance, that is smoky with a fantastic cassis note.

Ramon  Monegal Next to Me (2014): Inspired by Ramon Monegal’s trip to Dubai where it debuted before a wider distribution. Next to Me is spiced with Spanish saffron enhanced by notes of Indian Oud, Somalian frankincense in a  shimmering rose/oud perfume that is romantic and resinous.

Ramon Monegal #Cafédelmar (2018): Seaweed and coffee pair beautifully in this singularly distinctive eau de parfum. Imagine sipping a hot cup of coffee by the ocean. Sea spray, apple and lavender is rarely seen in niche fragrances.

Each of the three Ramon Monegal perfumes you should be wearing have above average sillage and excellent longevity. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

  • I think that Steven’s reviews AND Michelyn’s intro were spectacular! I look forward to following more art/fragrances by Sir Ramon and will continue to follow the amazing YouTubers/IG folks that discuss these awesome scents! I live in Michigan, USA. To be quite honest, I would be extremely excited and quite thankful with any of the three that were so well described by Redolessence, however, I suppose I would choose Bravo or Next To Me if I was forced to choose one. Ty for the opportunity and introducing me to some amazing new things for me to follow!

  • Jason Baker says:

Bravo, the review above and after watching Steve’s review on Redolessence I found them interesting bravo being one I would wear and second would have been next to me.
    I’m in the USA, California

  • Bennie Johnson says:

Hello my name is Bennie and I’m live in Maryland, US. Steven’s reviews are always great and this one is no exception. I currently don’t own anything from this house but a few of their offering have been on my radar. I’m particularly interested in cafedelmar as the coffee seaweed accord seems very unique!

  • It looks like that #Cafédelmar is a unique composition as stated by both Michelyn and Steven. But the one that intrigues me most in Bravo that plays a contrast between smoky and fruity notes. My choice is Bravo. USA.

  • I was just looking at this house so this is a wonderful giveaway. Steven and Michelyn’s reviews were pretty similar but their description of #Cafédelmar really stood out. Coffee by the ocean, sounds like a beautiful offactive experience. If I were to win I would pick #Cafédelmar. I live in Indiana USA

  • Great videos and the scents look and sound magnificent. I would love to try next to me and I am hoping to purchase (for my bday later this month) flamenco or cherry musk. Thanks for the informative review. Happy new year!

  • These are definitely some scents I want to try. I think Bravo sounds the most speaking to me, but they all sound interesting. Steven’s reviews have really helped me get started in my fragrance journey. I didn’t know just about the history of Ramon Monegal so I appreciate that part of Michelyn’s intro. I’m in Dallas Texas .

  • Michelyn & Steven! ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for the wonderful introduction to a fascinating perfume house! Seaweed & coffee rank among my favorite notes, so I am curious and excited to experience CafeDelMar! Michelyn, thank you for the great historical connections! Steven, thank you for the great note breakdowns! USA Thank you for this opportunity!

  • I learned Ramon is the 4th generation of his family to be a perfumer. Hearing the reviews always adds a welcome dimension to the readings. For the draw I pick #cafedelmar. US

  • Jose L Vazquez Garcia says:

Steven pointing to a really exciting new houses to discover, on this particular case, I would love to try Cafe Del Mar

  • Based on Steve’s review, I would pick #Cafédelmar 100%. If Steve is excited by something and saying that this one is so unique and represents the craftsmanship of niche fragrances then I couldn’t pick any other. Thanks to the introduction I could make my prediction on my favourites and firstly it was Bravo, as I tend to lean towards the dark fragrances. But then, if one of the bottles that Steve shows is higher than the others then it already makes one suspicious. The fact that he can review three fragrances in 10 minutes and make the winner clear to me is truly remarkable. I live in Poland.

  • Ramon Monegal #Cafédelmar got my total attention. I love coffee and all its variants. Would love to try this fragrance because it would be a tremendous acquisition for my collection. I really enjoyed Stevens review because he always have a unique way to describe fragrance and Michelyn was very precise and to the point with the introduction.
    I live in the U.S.
    Would love to win Cafédelmar

  • Steven nails it again! I so appreciate his content and thoughtful review. Ramon monegal Next to me is what caught my attention as Saffron is one of my favorite notes in perfumery along with Oud and frankincense. Steven describes it as a romantic yet dark scent perfect for the cold weather. I would love to get my hands on it. I live within the US

  • MarkMarkMark678 says:

    #CafeDelmar

I’ve been wanting to try out the House of Ramon Monegal for quite some time now.

I thought I might have chosen something else, but the way Steven described #CafeDelmar hooked me.

Sitting at a cafe sipping coffee and getting hit with a salty cross wind of sea water, with florals to accompany it.
Steven mentioned that this smells like nothing else out there.

Michelyn mentioned that Ramon is inspired by the beauty of his native country, and how she likened the ingredients to ink used to write a beautiful story or poetry.

Wonderful seńor Ramon, being historically connected with the house of Myrurgia, perfumes like Maja still resonate with some of us, I would like to experience the Bravo, because Im a fan of leather. I live in Nevada USA

  • Love how Fiasa smells, and Steven’s review is still as detailed as he can, that’s why I am pretty interested in Next to me! I live in Virginia, US

As always, very good review , i am extremely interested in the scent “next to me” because i myself is a big fan of oud fragrances, by the way, i live here in missouri . More power to your vlog !

  • I love the way Steven and Michelyn did a perfume review from Ramon Monegal. The way to review both is very interesting and easy to understand and of course Steven and Michelyn have their own unique style and way of reviewing perfume.
    I’m in Jakarta, Indonesia.

  • phoenixfire83 says:

Cafe Del Mar sounds the most interesting to me, and the most unique out of the three. I thought Steven’s review of this one really grabbed my attention, as I’ve never heard of a fragrance that would capture the essence of sitting seaside enjoying a hot cup of coffee.

  • I enjoyed Stephen’s description of Next to Me – which I’d love to win – and Michelyn’s letting us know that Monegal bottles are meant to resemble ink wells! I live in the EU.

  • Michelle Zervoulakos says:

Great review! as always, i am looking forward in rocking this house scent especially “next to me”, because i am a huge fan of oud fragrances , i am living here in missouri by the way, i am hoping to see more reviews on this house , more power!

  • Coffee & Seaweeeed!!
This is why I’m getting into niche this year. I have to try this one day.

    Niche just SOUNDS more interesting.
Steven also got me intrigued by Next To Me.

  • Great reviews! I always read first Michelyn’s introduction, in order to get an idea about the perfumes notes and then, I watch Steve’s reviews. I’m looking forward to smell Ibiza Cafe del Mar because I love the coffeenote and the salty, inspired by the sea fragrances. Also I am very intrigued by this unique combination, that I have never found before in a fragrance.

  • Very interesting introduction by Michelyn about the brand and the perfumer. And as always, very nice review from Redolessence, been following him for a long time. Thanks for the giveaway. I live in the EU (Spain). If I win, I would choose Next to me. IG Name: josem5744

  • I’m from Charleston, South Carolina and it does get a little chilly this time of year. Thanks to these reviews I can say that I’m looking forward to deep heavy niche fragrances that can stand out in the cold weather. Next To Me sounds like the perfect fragrance with a sweater and scarf.

  • Eldin Jaganjac says:

I am most intrigued by Next to me, it seems to be the most intricate of the three. It’s the one I would want, if I win the draw
Both the description and the Review were well made.

    I live in southern Denmark.

  • Than you Michelyn’s for the introduction for yet another perfume house I didn’t know. I just watched Steve’s review on Redolessence. It’s true Ramon Monegal’s perfumes have grate presentation. I like specially how the bottle of Bravo look. It’s very practical yet elegant. But it’s Steve’s description of having a coffee ate the seaside that got me intrigue about #CaféDelMar. I love unique scents coffe and seaweed? Why not! So If I were to win I would pick #Cafédelmar. My instagram is @agakawecka . I live in Poland, EU.

  • Impossible Iris is the only Ramon Monegal I have tried and it’s wonderful
I didn’t know he was fourth generation and that the bottle was made to look like a inkwell
Based on the reviews from Steven Next to Me sounds great for a night with my girlfriend
    USA

  • Bryant Worley says:

I think that Steven’s review, AND Michelyn’s intro, were spectacular! Michelyn’s intro are always excellent, givingvenough background to make the perfumer sound interesting.

The one I want to win is “Next to Me” because of that saffron, et al.

I live in Waldorf, Maryland, USA.

  • J Aaron Aragon says:

Cafedelmar sounds intriguing and exciting. I can’t imagine this seaweed coffee combo but I imagine it would take me back to this mornings at the beach I love so much.

  • I love the unique inkwell bottle with with the flip top. Four generations in perfumery is a great achievement. #CaféDelMar piqued my interest due to Steven’s description of the fragrance as a oceanic warm coffee scent. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff. Mich USA @mary_luvs_flwrs

  • Next To Me is absolutely fabulous. One of the best discoveries I have made in the year 2020. A full bottle is a dream come true! Thanks!

  • Ramon Monegask is a perfume house I like very much and I have a lot of his fragrances on my wishlist. Redolessence has reviewed quit a lot of this house and some of them are in my list now like flamingo , the soul of oud etc.
MON patchouli I have bought and is so delicious. The best patchouli there is.
All the three fragrances sounds nice ! Perhaps Next to me is the one I prefer the most.
    I live in Utrecht, Tankenberg 26 , 3524LB theNetherlands
Redolessence I follow for years now, and the quality of his reviews are excellent. They are always a good way the find new fragrance who are of good quality and a good advice to look for and find samples of to try. With the lockdown my way to find my fragrance without leaving the door!
If Steve says it is good than you can count on that. He knows a lot about it and has a good taste.

  • I liked Michelyn’s introduction and really appreciated Steven’s review of the three fragrances from Ramon Monegal and the detailed breakdown of the notes. If I win the giveaway, I will like to get Next to Me because of the romantic edge and the Oud + rose combination.
    Greetings from Maryland, US.
    @emekus_b (Instagram)

  • I was not aware Ramon Monegal is a 4th generation perfumer, and his father being a famous perfumer himself .
Coincidence or not, the only Ramon Monegal fragrance i know is Bravo. I had a small decant in the past , and to me it smells like I’m eating Chocolate Ganache Cake with Cassis, drinking freshly squeezed apricot juice , while sitting on a leather couch.
I believe Next to Me, and #Cafédelmar are also good fragrances , but Bravo is still my favorite
Appreciate Michelyn’s introduction, Steven’s review , and the giveaway campaign
    USA

  • Thank you Michelyn & Steven for the wonderful introduction of beautiful and interesting perfumes!
I have not tested this perfumes, but Next to Me sounds very impressive and beautiful for me!
    Love rose and oud composition!

  • wandering_nose says:

Thank you Michelyn and Steven for showcasing those beauties from Ramon Monegal in your reviews! I like and much appreciate those brief and to-the-point intros and cohesive video reviews. I love how Steven can spark real interest in a perfume in such a short time! I am sold on Next To Me – I love me a good leather with ambery nuances and with prominent oud, rose, saffron and a resinous touch. Thank you from Dublin, Ireland, EU. I follow @cafleurebonofficaly on IG, my nickname is _cathy_reilly_

  • Steven’s reviews are always great and this one is no exception. I haven’t tried anything by Ramon Monegal yet. Based on Michelyn’s introduction and Steven’s video reviews, I would choose Ramon Next to Me, as I love oud based perfumes. Thanks for the review and draw. I’m a Redolessence subscriber and am in the USA.

  • Very informative reviews Steven. I was introduced to Monegal fragrances when I visited Madrid several years ago. All three sound interesting but I would love to try #Cafedelmar. The seaweed and coffee notes are too interesting to pass up. I follow @cafleurebonofficial on instagram @blinkydog1999. MD, USA.

  • I learned from Michelyn‘s intro that the Monegal family created the iconic Maja! I enjoyed Steven’s review of the three perfumes here. His descriptions always make it easier to get a feel of what might work for me. Id love to win Ramon Next to Me, I live in Washington and following on IG @StealthAudrey Thanks.

  • Ramon Monegal fragrances are provocative, powerful , and almost bohemian.
Because of the leather, smoke, and mouthwatering juicy apricot and cassis, I think Bravo is a fragrance that warms you from inside.I’d love to win a bottle.
It was also delightful leaning about Ramon Monegal past , and love for his native country of Spain .
One of my favorite fragrances is Impossible Iris – Ramon Monegal. Modern and cozy fruity-floral.
    Thanks for the draw

  • Thank you for these reviews! I loved the pictures included in your review, Michelyn, and I enjoyed listening to your reviews, Steven. I haven’t ever listened to or watched a fragrance review before so that was a first. I am most interested in trying #CafeDelMar. Writing from the EU.

  • Hi, appreciate the introduction and understanding about the house by Michelyn. I hail from Philadelphia, PA. I’ve actually had Next to Me in my Saks cart or a couple of weeks now, and have been trying to determine whether to pull the trigger or not. Steven’s description of it sold me on it. I definitely wanted to make the purchase so that I can get some wear out of it this winter. My choice, if I won, would likely be Bravo since Steven’s already made me buy Next to Me. 🙂

  • These fragrances are great for me since they are good in the winter and due to my geographic location winters are long and harsh. Next To Me stood out since I am a fan of rose-oud fragrances though steven’s explanation of the pairing between the leather accord, the saffron and the resins creating a particularly unique oud rose was appreciated. Similarly both Steven and Michelyn note this fragrance as being romantic, both excellent reviews and i would be grateful to add this to my collection. residence is in Minot ND

  • That’s incredible that he is a 4th generation perfumer. What a talented family he is part of!

I loved Steven’s description of each of the scents he recommends. But I am completely drawn to Ramon Next to Me because of the rose and spice notes.
    I live in the US.

  • In the luxury business, you have to build on heritage.
    -Bernard Arnault

One of the most famous quotes in the world of marketing , and storytelling fits into Ramon Monegal lifestyle story well. He followed a similar path, and just like Bertrand Arnault, he build his own brand well.
Out of the three fragrances, Bravo is my clear favorite. It feels comfy , warm and relaxing .
Sangria with lots of fruits , crackling open fireplace, bouquet of roses , burning oud chips, and my husband and I enjoying our time alone , is what I’m thinking right now.
To me the best Ramon Monegal fragrance is Mon Patchouly . Half earthy, half chocolate patchouli, with amber and incense .
Thank you for the awesome opportunity
    USA

  • I loved how Michelyn introduced Ramon Monegal’s work as inspired by his homeland and travels and the. Briefly described the three fragrances featured in Steven’s video.
Then, of course, Steven developed the subject deeper aptly and in a detailed manner, as he always does, and it was lovely to see how each of the three frags had its own very distinct personality, identity and target audience. I personally was baffled by the sound of #Cafedelmar and the uniqueness of the coffee and oceanic notes. Absolutely unique!
So that would be my choice, should I win.
    I am in the EU.
    Thanks!

  • Ramon Monegal seems like such an underappreciated house. I rarely hear about it, but when I do, it’s always positive. Next To Me sound sensual and alluring with the oud and saffron. That’s the one I’d like to win the most.
    I live in Denmark, EU.

  • Amanda32828 says:

I have had the opportunity to smell any Ramon Monegal fragrance yet. I think although everyone sound very interesting, I’m really intrigue by #CafeDelMar. The combination of notes of this last one really got me thinking about it. Thank you for another great review and for the opportunity to participate in this draw. Commenting from Orlando, Fl.USA.

  • I am an avid subscriber to the Redolessence channel. Steven’s advice is always impeccable in my opinion. Thanks to CaFleureBon for partnering with him on this promotional. All three of the featured fragrances sound remarkable and it is very difficult to say which one I would prefer BUT since I am enduring the coldest weather we’ve had here in years for this part of Maryland, I’d probably go with Bravo based on Steve’s description of the notes and cold weather performance.

  • As always, Steven absolutely crushed his reviews of these fragrances. I enjoy his approach, delivery, and thorough assessments of fragrances that he speaks about. Out of the three, the one that interests me most is #CaféDelMar. When Steven said that this fragrance is evocative of sipping a cup of coffee outside and catching that oceanic cross breeze I was transported instantly. I also imagine the scene being slightly chilly and overcast to really set the ideal mood, for this reader at least. Although I have never heard of Ramon Monegal or his fragrances, Michelyn really peaked my interest when she said “…using ingredients to tell scented stories…”. It would be such a pleasure to experience one of Señor Monegal’s stories with this fragrance. Thanks, as always, for the opportunity and cheers from Illinois!

  • Enticing, enticing, enticing!
Three gorgeous sounding fragrances from the eminent family of Monegal with their credentials established with “Maja.” I’ve never experienced any of their creations, but who can resist the romance that “Next to Me” evokes with my favorite notes of Saffron, Rose & Oud. Hopefully my never ending search for that perfect combination results in my winning “Next to Me.”

  • redwheelbarrow says:

Michelyn’s intro was so informative. I did not realize this house has been around for 100 years and that the bottles resemble an old-fashioned inkwell. I love that! I’ve never tried any fragrances from this house but from Steven’s review, I’m interested in Café Del Mar. I love salty fragrances and adore a coffee note. Also, the fact that he says it’s the most unique peaks my interest. I love the smell of seaweed. Thank you for the draw. From the US.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the review Steven and for the introduction Michelyn. I really enjoyed reading Michelyn’s writeup on this house and it’s history.

I loved listening about the dichotomy in Del Mar. The thought of coffee and a oceanic note with an ambery background and fruity and florals sounds absolutely divine! It really speaks to why this house has been able to last for so many years

I would love to win a bottle of Del Mar.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Hendrix Wilson says:

As always Steven’s review is detailed and passionate. The introduction was done well, giving me just enough insight to peak my curiosities. I would choose Next to Me because I love the Rose/Oud combination.
    I’m from South Carolina.

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Michelyn’s intro learning about Ramon Monegal’s 100+ and 4 generations of families in perfumery and their inspirations that come from their home country of Spain. I loved Steven’s detailed reviews of Bravo, Next to Me, and Cafe Del Mar. I am especially intrigued by the uniqueness of the coffee and aquatic notes of Cafe Del Mar. If I win I would select Cafe Del Mar. I am following Cafleurebon in Instagram…my Instaname is michaelprincefragrance. I am from the USA.

  • I have to say I enjoyed Michelyn introduction very much , better than the review itself , sorry Steven 🙂
I know most Ramon Monegal fragrances, but I was not aware he grew up is a family of renowned perfumers .
It’s always nice to see someone grinding his way up ,and not settling into a some kind of management position in one of those billion dollar mega corporations. After all each person who has the entrepreneur DNA, at one point should start his own business.
I know two out of three fragrances in Michelyn, and Steven collaboration, and I’ll share my thoughts:
    1. Bravo
I get all the notes mentioned by both Steven and Michelyn, but in different proportions.
To me Bravo eclectic smoky, and fruity fragrance, with leathery and rosy nuances in the background. I get the feeling of being in one of those expensive shisha bars in Istanbul.
I was expecting slightly animalic fragrance, but surprisingly Bravo is easy to wear.
    2. Ramon Monegal Next to Me (2014) … I own.
“Inspired by Ramon Monegal’s trip to Dubai where it it debuted before a wider distribution.”
Correct, Next to Me was exclusive , made for Bloomingdale’s in Dubai . That’s where I bought mine.
The bottle looked different back then. I don’t know if it’s my body chemistry, and perception, or the fragrance Steven and Michelyn reviewed is actually a reworked version? I’m quite curious, and I’ll make sure to try the new presentation.
What I get from my bottle is sweet candied fruits, lots of coconut, saffron, nutmeg and tonka . It gets woody in the base, but still keeping its candy fruits sweetness. I don’t get leather, or rose at all.
There’s a lot of Ramon Monegal fragrances I love , i’ll mention some , Flamenco , Next to Me , Olé , Faisa,Soul of Oud and Bravo
    I’d like to win Bravo
    All profiles I already follow,i also follow @lauramonegal .
    @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • I found both Michelyn’s intro. and Steven’s review to be informative, e.g. I didn’t know that the Ramon Monegal fragrance house has been in business for that long of amount of time. I would choose “Bravo” if I win because that one seemed to be the one which I would like the most. I follow both Steven’s channel and Cafleurebon on Instagram (@regismonkton). I live in the U.S.A. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  • I was captivated by Michelyn’s introduction and Steven’s video was superb as usual. It is always good to have a fragrance that can transport us when the chill outside is breathtaking. I would love Next To Me. I am in the USA.

  • Ever since I was a kid , I was told by my parents to respect others opinions, and not to judge . I find almost shocking Steven’s claims that #CaféDelMar is a winter fragrance , I had to say it. I respectfully disagree with him .
I don’t like to sound judgmental, but since #CaféDelMar is in my possession, I think I have to explain why I was shocked, and I still am.
I believe I’ve mentioned a couple of times on Cafleurebon, that I’ve spent a few years of my life living in Spain. I had the pleasure of visiting Ramon Monegal boutique at Carrer de Calvet in Barcelona .
The lady , who spent a lot of time showing up as much as possible fragrances, explained to me how Ibiza collection was made because of Ramon Monegal previous experience, and obsession with Ibiza.
#CaféDelMar particularly shows the atmosphere of the legendary Beach Club ‘Café del Mar’ in the bay Cala des Moro on Ibiza. The idea was to show the last warm rays of the setting , and the sea at our feet.A hot day on the beach is coming to an end , and the clubbing is starting all over again.
#CaféDelMar is leaning young, Mediterranean marine clubbing fragrance.
That’s not just my opinion, but the way the fragrance was presented to me at the Ramon Monegal boutique in Barcelona .
I only wear it in a hot summer weather.
Since #CaféDelMar is in my possession , after watching the YouTube video, I think Bravo checks all the boxes, truly opulent, mysterious fragrance, emphatic representation of Ramon Monegal envisioning fruity leather.
Cherry Musk and #CaféDelMar are my favorites, both smell awesome, both are true compliment magnets
Old-fashioned inkwell ? Never thought about it that way, but I see the resembles
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • Steven has really convinced me to #cafedelmar. And I strongly believe that the mix of seaweed, coffee, apple, florals and levender can give really great sensation! Bravo and Next to me also sound great but during this winter time (here in Europe at least) I am craving for more fresh / holiday scents. And I am a psycho fan of coffee..
I pick #cafedelmar and I live in Poland (EU).

  • sephrenia300 says:

What a wonderful article and review! What I liked about Michelyn’s introduction is how she drew a connection between the design of the bottle, of an old-fashioned inkwell, to how perfumer Ramon Monegal uses ingredients like words, perfectly integrated and flowing together. What I really enjoyed of Steven’s reviews is how he compared Bravo and Next To Me, pointing out that both are centered around leather while also emphasizing their differences in the more romantic edge of Next to Me, with it’s further warmth, saffron, and incredibly natural oud and rose. I really appreciated his point-by-point comparison, making it clear to me that Next To Me is most likely the Monegal fragrance that most suits me. I can’t wait to try it!

If I were to win, my first choice would be Next To Me, with Bravo being my second choice and #Cafédelmar being my third. I am following your new Instagram page @cafleruebonoffical, my Insta name is momo.liu.121 and I live in the US.
