“Our perfumes are our emotions, our  travels and the memories we make together.”

Plume Impression is a brand that immediately intrigued me back in 2021 and I first sought out their fragrances at Fortnum & Mason in London. Their scents are a tribute to romance and traditions of thoughtful perfumery which envelop and soothe. When I finally met both Sabine and Gabriel in Milan three years ago, I was struck by how their scents could recreate times and places. Their latest creation with perfumer Alexis Dadier (Robertet) Plume Impression Onda d’Oro takes us to Italy and the rolling hills and cobbled streets of Tuscany.

A leather accord in perfumery can be categorized as distinguished, smooth or animalic. In the case of Plume Impression Onda d’Oro it is a suede-like leather as cistus labdanum is paired with iris to give a smooth and warm sensation on the skin. There is a sweet and buttery soft tonality to the fragrance which is enticing that combined with vanilla and an amber accord makes it a comforting slightly balmy wear reminiscent of sunset.

Interesting to note is the perfume pyramid listed for Plume Impression Onda d’Oro. Top notes of cistus labdanum and amber where we would usually see these utilized in the depth of the fragrance. The leather accord is paired in the heart with iris and vanilla, musk and patchouli in the base. The leather accord to me is the foundation on which Alexis Dadier has composed this artistry the vanilla is evident however it plays a supporting role. There is a balsamic aspect coming from the amber accord here and everything works seamlessly as one can expect from a Plume Impression perfume – no rough edges.

Plume Impression Onda d‘Oro is soft and supple. Like wearing  fine gloves, Alexis Dadier has created a caress as opposed to a hefty leather biker jacket. The inspiration here is mirrored perfectly in the scent itself as an artist paints an impressionist scene taking time to compose it. This can be characterized by small deft brush strokes painstakingly done. Similarly, the perfume reflects the emphasis of light and one can feel the effects of the passage of time from afternoon to dusk in this scent.

Should you enjoy perfumes that are well crafted and gentle then Onda d’Oro will be one such scent to add to your wish list.

Notes: Cistus Labdanum, Amber, Leather, Iris, Vanilla, Musk, Patchouli.

  • Karl’s description of the leather accord being more like suede really caught my attention. I love leather fragrances, but sometimes they can be too bold or harsh. The idea of a soft, suede-like leather paired with iris and vanilla sounds so luxurious and wearable. It’s interesting how he compares it to wearing fine gloves instead of a heavy leather jacket. This sounds like a scent that’s elegant and comforting at the same time.

  • The suede-like leather accord like wearing fine gloves intrigued me. Paired with iris and amber it sounds like a great scent. From EU.

A masterpiece of leather fragrance. Pure and refined just like the person wearing it. Elegant suede paired with luxurious iris form the heart of this extraordinary scent. I am from EU

  • I enjoy that the leather accord isn’t animalic. Seems like it’d be rather soft and wearable, and will surely shine in the upcoming cold. From USA

Anything suede-like will definitely be soft to the touch and smooth. Plume Impressions has been quite on the rise and their creations are making more waves and noise than ever before because of the quality. Onda D’Or (Golden Wave) is as Karl described a textured tonality of a leather accord that’s non-offensive and supple. You want to approach the person wearing it as it’s refined and picturesque, like a summer day in Italy you reminisce about. Cheers from the USA.

  • Based on Karl’s review of Plume Impression Onda d’Oro, I find the harmonious blend of luxurious suede and rich iris particularly captivating. The way these notes create a sophisticated and elegant scent that symbolizes purity and elegance is truly intriguing. The inspiration drawn from the picturesque heart of Tuscany, with its timeless blend of tradition and modernity, adds a beautiful narrative to the fragrance. This combination of elements makes Onda d’Oro a standout in the world of perfumery. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

Wearing leather gloves at sunset? I’m intrigued. I enjoyed the review and description of this fragrance so much, the notes described remind me of a beautiful sunset seen from one of the many bridges in my hometown. A gentle breeze, a soothing touch. I’d love to try this perfume. I live in Oregon.

  • Thank you Karl. I liked that you found it to be gentle and well crafted while taking you on a journey to Tuscany. I’ve not yet tried anything from Plume Impression but Onda d’Oro sounds like an amazing start. I’m in USA

  • I would love to win this perfume because I have never tried a perfume from this brand. I love leather and amber but a perfume that places cistus labdanum and amber in the top note is totally new. The nose Alexis Dadier I have never tried his work. I live in France, EU.

  • I found it interesting how Karl compared the scent to an impressionist painting, the small brushstrokes and sense light in the perfume and feel the “passage of time from afternoon to dusk”. I like that it’s mentioned that it is more of a soft suede leather and more like gloves than a leather jacket as a rough animalistic leather isn’t always something I like. I do like the sound of the notes as well. Also the inspiration for Onda d’Oro being Tuscany having the leather represented as well as iris since Tuscan Iris is famous as well isn’t it? Thanks for the generous draw. From the U.S.

  • These days I am drawn into soft, ethereal and gentle fragrances, so “a suede-like leather as cistus labdanum is paired with iris to give a smooth and warm sensation on the skin” sounds DIVINE. I have been last winter in Tuscany, precisely in Firenze and Pisa and it was one of the most beautiful getaways ever. I am curious to see how Onda d’Oro recreates those beautiful places.

My favorite from this brand is Rivalite Imperiale, but these is always space for a new guilty pleasure.

  • What I found most intriguing is how the top notes are usually what you’d expect in the base, like cistus labdanum and amber. It sounds like Plume Impression is really playing with the structure of the fragrance in a unique way. I also love how Karl mentions the seamless blending of all the elements, with no rough edges. That’s the kind of craftsmanship I really appreciate in a perfume. This definitely sounds like something I’d want to try.

Wow! I really loved how this review teleported me to the Tuscany hills! I especially enjoyed how Karl described the experience of the fragrance, from top to base notes, as one wears it. I imagine it walking on under the trees in autumn, watching the red-orange sunset and feel the warmth of a pretty suede leather jacket while holding my partners hand. A very soft and warm feeling! I’d love to try this perfume.

Notes: Cistus Labdanum, Amber, Leather, Iris, Vanilla, Musk, Patchouli. Interesting to note that Karl mentioned the top Notes of Cistus, Labdanum and Amber are usually deployed in the base of the fragrance. The leather, iris and patchouli, musk and vanilla sound just sumptuous. This is a house that just exudes class. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • This description reminds me of the perfumes of the past, timeless, elegant, intimate, unforgettable perfumes. Plume Impression Onda d’Oro talks about the beautiful Tuscany, with its golden hill landscapes, memories that warm the heart and I think that this perfume can take us to these places, this is the true magic of a perfume.

    Hi there,

Onda d’Oro sounds like something that would nicely replace my dwindling Ormonde Jayne Vanille d’Iris, but add a bit more leather and musk to the picture…So wonderful to read about it and close my eyes and envision Tuscany. Thank you!

  • Leather, Iris and vanilla at the base sounds extremely nice, while the amber at the top is rare. This fragrance is very intriguing, it sounds like a joy to experience.

  • Sunsets and the envelloping vanilla, labdanum and patchouli are the perfect combination for the summer through to the winter, when it starts to get darker, time to reflect in the evening. It all blends into seamless impressionistic whiff that is this perfume. I would like to try it. I live in the EU.

  • Shibuichi2000 says:

I did like the comparison of the leather aspect of Onda d’Oro with a fine glove, as opposed to a much rougher stroke of a biker coat.
If it’s inspired by Tuscany it must be dreamy, above all things :).

  • What caught my attention the most in Karl’s article was the following sentence: “Plume Impression Onda d‘Oro is soft and supple. Like wearing fine gloves, Alexis Dadier has created a caress as opposed to a hefty leather biker jacket.”
It seems like this fragrance, while featuring leather, amber and labdanum, far from being a heavy statement perfume, its more of a scented nod of elegance, class and gentleness.

  • Love the inspiration of this fragrance, and as a leather lover I really want to the it.

  • I imagine a ride on my motorbike along the rolling Tuscan hills with my hair in the wind, hugging my man. The smell of his leather jacket that mixes with the warm smell of my beloved. I close my eyes, I don’t want anything else!

  • I’ve tried a few scents from this house and the quality was magnificent. I’m confident that Onda d’Oro will be just as exceptional. What piques my interest most is the balsamic amber Karl mentioned. A good balsamic amber is enough to make my heart flutter but the addition of leather just takes it to another level. Best of luck to all! I live in NC, USA.

  • David Furman says:

This sounds like a beautiful pairing. From beginning to end this grabs you with the cistus and labdanum. The leather I’m assuming isn’t too harsh but very smooth with the addition of iris and vanilla. This is a welcomed creation for the upcoming fall and winter. Bet this wears smooth and cozy like a warm, soft cashmere sweater. Plz lemme win, from Jacksonville, NC.

  • I adore the ability of fragrances to evoke not only sensations but also places. To achieve this, it is essential that the creator of the scent possesses great experience. As an Italian, when I think of Tuscany, the first thing that comes to mind is the note of cypress intertwined with damp, earthy undertones.

Of course, Tuscany, known to many only by name, is the homeland of leather goods, a title recognized in the olfactory realm by fragrances such as Tom Ford’s Tuscan Leather.

I am therefore intrigued, following Karl’s review, to see how Onda d’oro can evoke hilly landscapes at sunset, filled with light and crisp air, despite a pyramid structure that at first glance suggests nothing of the sort. The leather-iris accord is one of my favorites. Bold, elegant and charismatic.

I eagerly await the opportunity to journey through Tuscany with just a breath.

  • I’m intrigued by the way labdanum and iris are combined in Onda d’Oro to suggest a smooth, butter-sweet leather, further enhanced by vanilla and amber—not in the base where I’d normally expect. This sounds like a fragrance that focuses almost exclusively on its persistent heart accord, making the most of texture and subtlety. “No rough edges.” Well crafted and gentle sounds perfect a lot of the time.

    I’m in the USA.

  • Based on Karl’s review, what intrigues me most about Plume Impression Onda d’Oro is the way it balances softness and depth. The idea of a suede-like leather combined with iris and vanilla sounds like such a warm and inviting scent, especially with the amber and labdanum giving it that comforting, slightly balmy vibe. I love how Karl described it as being like fine gloves instead of a heavy leather jacket—it makes me think this fragrance would feel elegant and cozy without being overpowering. The whole concept of capturing the feeling of a Tuscan sunset transitioning from afternoon to dusk really draws me in too! EU

  • These are the kinds of leather accords I like. Amber, balmy labdanum and orris forward. The butter smooth driving gloves of Grace Kelly. I have not of this house so thank you for the tip! I am in California, wish me luck on the generous giveaway!

  • I like knowing there are no rough edges. I would love to go to Fortnum and Mason if I ever get to London. This sound like a perfect leather since it doesn’t lean toward the leather jacket and more towards a leather glove. I have never smelled anything from this line. Thanks for showcasing this fragrance. Karl’s review brought back memories of the semester I spent in Florence. One of my Italian friends had a motorcycle and sometimes he would give me a ride. I remember the smell of his leather jacket. I like that there is a balsamic edge to the perfume. The amber note surely compliments the smooth leather.

I really enjoyed Karl’s review of Plume Impression Onda d’Oro. This is a brand that receives so much praise in the fragrance community. Plume Impression founders Sabine Shaffer and Gabriel Chami have teamed up with perfumer Alexis Dadier (Robertet) to create what sounds like a beautiful resinous and Vanillic fragrance with a smooth suede like Leather and powdery Iris.
