Parfums de Marly Meliora Review (Nathalie Lorson and Julien Sprecher) 2013 + An Enchanting Giveaway

Parfums de Marly Meliora

Parfums de Marly Meliora by Olya Bar

With hot summer days in full swing, I love a berry-centric perfume that feels light, airy, and optimistic. Parfums de Marly Meliora perfectly fits the bill, a cocktail of happiness encased in a beautiful, romantic bottle. It’s like living in a Bridgerton episode from start to finish—except Meliora came out in 2013, over a decade over before the show premiered December 25, 2020.

If you have yet to indulge in the colorful, whimsical, and delightful TV show Bridgerton, based on a book series by Julia Quinn, you’re missing out on a cultural phenomenon. It has influenced everything from Pat McGrath’s makeup collections to Bath & Body Works’ candle launches and has even taken the fashion world by storm. A quick Google search for Bridgerton will reveal a world of dresses and stunning tablescapes. I admit, I enjoy those girly, romantic vibes.

So, now that you get the picture of the mood, let’s return to the fragrance. Created by Master Perfumer Nathalie Lorson with founder Julien Sprecher, the perfect word to describe it is enchanting, a garden soiree of a fragrance. The air is filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers and the soft melodies of a string quartet, transporting everyone back to the Regency era’s elegance and charm. A long table draped in delicate lace runs the length of the garden, its surface gleaming with fine porcelain tableware and crystal glasses that catch the light just so. Candles in ornate holders flicker softly, casting a warm, inviting glow. The table is decorated with rose flower arrangements that echo the garden’s blooms. Each place setting is completed with a handwritten name card, tied with a satin ribbon in coordinating colors, ensuring every guest feels personally welcomed.

Guests are treated to an assortment of berry tarts, their golden crusts filled with luscious, ripe red berries and topped with a dusting of powdered sugar. Each bite bursts with summer’s sweet and tart flavors, perfectly balancing the richness of the buttery pastry. Jasmine tea is being served along with lemon cakes. These moist, zesty delights are glazed with tangy lemon icing, their bright flavor a refreshing contrast to the evening’s other sweet offerings. Served on delicate porcelain plates, the cakes are as much a feast for the eyes as for the palate. That’s Parfums de Marly Meliora in a nutshell. She is a mood; she is the life of a party.

I want to draw your attention to the beautiful design of the bottle. Parfums de Marly bottle is quite a work of art reminiscent of a stunning gown silhouette adorned with intricate lace and delicate embroidery. When you have multiple of them, they resemble a flock of women arriving at the ball in flowing gowns of pastel hues. Meliora captures the essence of summer: playful, charming, and irresistibly fun.

Notes: Red Berries, Raspberry, Lemon essence, Rose, Ylang-Ylang, Jasmine Tea, Vanilla, Musk, Cedarwood.

The bottle was kindly gifted to me but opinions are always my own. Michelyn has her original bottle.

  • Meliora sounds gorgeous. Berry tarts topped by powdered sugar, yes, please. I love Bridgerton and Parfums de Marly, and this was a great review.

Parfums De Marly is truly a top 5 niche house for me when it comes to quality, longevity and aesthetics. My favorite Parfums De Marly is still Carlisle but I want to try a few of their female targeted offerings as I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about them. Who in 2024 doesn’t know about Bridgerton? JLO just celebrated her 55th birthday party with a Bridgerton themed celebration. If Meliora is anything like what we see in the show: an airy, whimsical, summer day; then it’s a beautiful scent. Raspberries is one of my favorite notes on fragrances as it gives it a tart but juicy touch, mixed with tea and ylang-ylang I can see the allure to Bridgerton. What a perfect match! Cheers from the USA.

  • As iconic as this house is, I dont own anything by them. After being in the heat and smoke of Northern California I definitely need to watch an imaginative show and immerse in a perfume that transports me there! The notes sound lovely.
I am in the U.S. thank you for the chance to win!

  • Wow, Olya, this is a wonderful review and I agree that bottle does look stunning especially as imagined on a shelf paired with the pink Delina bottle. I’ve tried multiple PDMs and so far I still have Herod at the top of my list with Layton second and Delina coming in third. It sounds like Meliora might usurp Delina’s place in the list as that opening sounds divine. I’m in USA

Olya’s review excites me about this fragrance — I love Bridgerton and devour regency era romance novels! Any scent that brings a person into a ball or a garden promenade in one of those stories sounds delightful. I have not sampled many Parfums De Marly scents, but I was very intrigued by Cassili after reading the post last year about it.

I have a small sample of Meliora and it is the most feminine, uplifting scent IN THE WORLD. Okay, possibly a small exaggeration, but it is a the ultimate girl/woman, “You want me, I don’t need you but I will let you take me to dinner” scent. I love Olya’s tying of the scent to Bridgerton. It is a modern perfume with a strong nod to the mannered days of yesteryear. I won’t say, “Dear Lovely Reader” in my response, but I could. :::smirk::: I live in NY, enjoy tea, don’t use cloth hankies, but my father always carried one that we all used. (Fresh daily.) Delina may be my favorite but I really enjoy them all.

  • phuongmtran says:

What a transportative description of the fragrance! Olya perfectly described the look and feel in such a way that I now need to get my nose on Meliora. My favorite Parfums de Marly is Herod, so quite different! I am in the USA.

  • Great visuals in the review but the one that is sticking is the flock of women in pastel gowns: I can totally see that with a group of PdM bottles! My favorite so far is Oajan.

  • Amanda32828 says:

I love Olya’s review. I think that’s the notes of Meliora that most come to me; summer’s sweets and tart flavors of different berries pastries and lemon cakes. I love Meliora, it smells wonderful on me, it project perfect in the hot summer months. Sadly, I don’t own a bottle, just a sample, but that’s all I needed to fall in love with it.
From Parfums de Marly, I love Meliora and Delina Exclusif. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this draw, commenting from Orlando, Fl. USA.

This review sounds zesty and quite summery. I’d love to win this. My favorite PDM is Athalia

  • Meliora sounds wonderful for Summertime. Love Olya’s review. The history of this fragrance. The notes and beautiful bottle detail. My first fragrance from this house was Delina. Thank you for this chance USA

  • Parfums de Marly is a house that really attracts me, I loved the bottle and I agree with Olya. Valaya is at the top of my wish list.
    From Massachusetts,USA.

  • Interesting how Olya perceives or associates Meliora with Bridgerton and if I agree with her, the bottle is beautiful. Meliora and Valaya for these hot days in the USA.
I love Valaya and Althaïr, but I would like to know Meliora too.
    Greetings from USA.

  • I love that Meliora hearkens back to the Regency era as described in the article. I love the thought of a new fragrance that is light, airy and optimistic. My favorite from the house is Layton. USA

  • kellyatwood says:

This review transported me to the English countryside, I love how the review really placed me there! I have yet to try Meliora and would love to.. The bottle is stunning!

  • jessica.rauch says:

I love the description of Meliora! I actually sampled this in store yesterday and have it on a tester strip. I went back with Olga’s review and can feel the Bridgerton vibes with the berries, pastries and tea. It’s so light and feminine. Just love it! My favorite PDM fragrance is Delina but maybe Meliora is next!

  • Such a pretty collection of notes! I’ve only had experience with the richer scents by PdM – Layton Exclusif and Delina Exclusif. This one, with the tea note, sounds so feminine and dainty. I’ve never even had a chance to sniff it at a fragrance counter. I’d love to add this to my collection!
    I live in the US.

  • Froaderick says:

Olya paints the ideal setting for Meliora in describing a garden soiree in the grand style of Bridgerton. White gloves and impeccable table manners go without saying. PDM’s bottles themselves are art-thick, heavy glass and flowing lines that feel like you’re truly holding something luxurious. Cheers from Ohio, USA! 🙂

  • redwheelbarrow says:

I love the Bridgerton comparison because I know exactly the whimsical, girly style you are referring to. These notes sound delicious! I love Bridgerton – doesn’t everyone? Doctor Who even did an episode where aliens wanted to cosplay Bridgerton. It’s even popular in space! This fragrance sounds delightful. Thank you for the draw, from the US.

  • Berries, lemon cakes, and jasmine tea sounds so delightful! Very excited to smell Meliora. Thanks for the opportunity to win! I’m in MN, USA and my favorite PdM is probably Delina.

  • WillRhodes says:

As a huge fan of Bridgerton I love the idea of a fragrance that embodies that world. I too enjoy girly, romantic vibes in fragrance especially ones that are a bit fruity. Berry tarts with a dusting of powdered sugar? How could one not want to smell of such? And that lemon icing? Divine. I too wish to be the life of that party! Thank you for the lovely review Olya!

Red berries are such a tart and intoxicating scent. PDM being of such high quality and expertly crafted this is a true treat. The vanilla and cedarwood base is solid and I’m confident that this wears very nice and isn’t challenging at all. Would love to experience for myself, from Jacksonville, NC.

  • PdM Meliora sounds like a joyful, refreshing summer scent. The proliferation of sweet berries tempered by lemon combined with jasmine tea is reminiscent of a garden party. The feminine florals preceding the vanilla, musk and wood base is elegance personified. Favorite PdM is Valaya. MD, USA.

  • Honestly first time hearing about Bridgerton as well as its cultural influences as well as a show with a season that’s ended recently (have a lot to catch up on!). Loved the way Olya’s described the gourmand aspect of this fragrance and it fit’s the name perfectly, even the bottle. Current favorite is PdM’s Althair and is incredible in the winter.

  • Eris.can.swatch.kaos says:

This one, Meliora, is my favorite PDM. The reviewer perfectly captures the essence and ambiance of Meliora. A delectable tart being served with Jasmine tea. If I ever were to make a perfume myself, it would have these notes. What a beautiful fragrance, I’d adore owning a bottle! I live in Oregon.

  • I really enjoyed Olya’s review of Parfums de Marly Meliora. The way she described the fragrance, evoking a garden soiree with blooming flowers and berry tarts, was incredibly vivid. I could almost smell the fresh, summer notes she mentioned. The comparison to the romantic and elegant vibes of Bridgerton was spot on. My favorite Parfums de Marly scent has to be Pegasus for its unique blend of almond and vanilla. Thanks for the chance to win this amazing fragrance!

  • Although I’ve never watched Bridgerton I am familiar with the setting and the aesthetic. It fits perfectly with Parfums De Marley’s own description of Meliora which they describe as a delicate cocktail of fruit and flowers that have an enchanting romanticism. I also agree with the design of the bottle, it perfectly compliments the essence of what the perfumer wanted you to imagine when smelling it. PDM is one of my favorite houses, they have so many great fragrances.

  • roxhas1cat says:

I have not heard of this Bridgerton show. I guess I am missing out. I am getting hungry reading about the berry tarts and tea. I am ready to book a reservation for a high tea after reading this. PDM bottles are the best!! So elegant and fit the hand perfectly. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • Those Parfums de Marly bottles really are special, with a beautiful design and unique brand identity. I haven’t gotten to try any of the brand’s fragrances and hope to eventually. Speaking to Meliora, the tart lemon and jasmine tea notes are a tasteful way to balance out the sweetness of the fruit, and the combination of rose and berries is a reliable one.

    I’m in the USA.

  • What a beautiful description of this fragrance! The combination of berries and jasmine notes sound delightful, especially when described through an elegant garden soiree. The bottle itself looks very elegant, almost like a guest dressed for this soiree.
Admittedly, Delina and Greenley are my favorite Parfums de Marly fragrances, but Meliora and Valaya have been on my radar for some time now.
    Cheers from CA, USA!

  • Lightbearer60 says:

Olya’s review is absolutely magical. It’s so descriptive that I can picture myself at the soiree even taste the berry tarts and jasmine tea. My mouth is watering the description, and the depth of the details makes me feel like I’m actually there. It’s such a beautiful review that even if I don’t win I feel like I won anyways by being able to feel like I was at a garden soiree. And the review of the presentation is so spot on, the bottle is as gorgeous as the fragrance inside it sounds. It would be a great honor to win such a precious olfactory masterpiece of a prize. Thank you so much for the exquisite review Olya, thank you to everyone at Cafleurebon, as well as Parfums de marly and the perfumers and everyone that is involved in this giveaway and thank you for giving us the chance to win such an amazing prize. Peace and blessings to you all.

  • This review of Parfums de Marly Meliora is absolutely captivating, the idea of it being a fruity, light, and joyful summer scent sounds irresistible. I’m also intrigued by how exclusive and niche Parfums de Marly are in generl, such a prestigious brand with a unique, sophisticated touch. I would love to experience a fragrance from such a distinguished line. Excited about the giveaway opportunity! I live in New York City.

  • wallygator88 says:

    My favourite PdM is Nisean.

    Would love to sample this.

From the beauty of the presentation to the complexity and creativity of the fragrance inside, this quality fragrance house is the full package of my expectation of what a niche perfumery should be. Olya’s article is representative of the aforementioned.
My favorite fragrance from PDM (for today…this can change regularly 🙂 ) is Haltane.
