Paradis Des Sens Valhalla (Pierre-Constantin Guéros) 2023 + Tropical Fruitopia Giveaway

Paradis des Sens Valhalla

Paradis Des Sens Valhalla by Karl.

Composed by Pierre-Constantin Guéros of Symrise, Paradis Des Sens Valhalla offers a dynamic olfactory experience, characterized by its bright, feel-good nature and remarkable performance.

It was at Esxence 2023 where I first encountered the Paradis Des Sens collections of perfumes, and I had a hunch that the brand would prove to be extremely popular with fragrance lovers across the globe. What they do best is utilise likeable scent DNAs and notes which have a commercial appeal whilst adding some addictive and novel ingredients.

At its introduction, Paradis Des Sens Valhalla is a blast of fruity notes. The opening, featuring mandarin, pear, bergamot, and mango, sets a vibrant and uplifting tone, invoking a sense of positivity and vitality. This initial burst of freshness is bracing and engaging. However there is a cloudlike effect from the very start which compliments the fruitiness and makes it a more wearable experience.

A comparison could be made to Sospiro’s Erba Pura, but, in my opinion Paradis Des Sens Valhalla is more refined and is slightly more toned down. The fruits come across more natural and less artificial.

As the fragrance evolves, it transitions into a woody territory, where cedarwood and cashmere add a relaxed, yet addictive feel to the composition. These woody accords ground the fragrance, lending it a sense of stability and balance. It is a nod to the perfumer’s skill in creating a harmonious blend of ingredients that resonate with each other.

At the base of Valhalla lies vanilla, amber, tonka, and Ambrostar®. Ambrostar®, a proprietary ingredient by Symrise, plays a pivotal role in enhancing the fragrance’s dry and ambery character. The combined effect of these ingredients is a fragrance that exudes confidence and comfort. Valhalla celebrates simplicity and clarity, offering an olfactive experience that delights the senses and uplifts the spirit. It reflects the perfumer’s understanding of what consumer want and should become a popular staple in the brand’s blue collection.

Notes: Mandarin, pear, bergamot, mango, cedarwood, cashmere, vanilla, amber, tonka, and Ambrostar®.

Karl is successful at uplifting this new fragrance. It sounds amazing for the summer, with its fruity notes. I love that it has a woody base.

I have heard nothing but good things about this house and the fragrances. I would love to try this fragrance.

  • This sounds so lovely, yet deceiving! This sounds like a tropical scent but that dry down turns it into an entirely different experience! The Ambrostar® sounds like it really warms up the fragrance as it wears on the skin, making it more woody and sweet. It sounds delightful!

  • I have never heard of Paradis Des Sens before now, but I am certainly intrigued. Valhalla sounds quite nice. I appreciate Karl’s comparisons to Erba Pura, especially his comments on the improvements that Valhalla has made to that DNA. While I do enjoy Erba Pura quite a bit, the fruits can come across a bit screechy. I’m happy to read that they are a bit more natural in this one. I also really like the sound of the vanilla and woods combo in the base. This would be a stunner for the warmer months. Best of luck to all. I live in NC, USA.

This sounds like it’s going to be a great spring/summer fragrance. Love those fruity notes. I like what Karl said: “the fruits come across more natural and less artificial.” I can see how some other fragrances with similar notes can come off a bit synthetic or artificial. Definitely interested in trying this one out.

This sounds like a fruit heaven. I love Erba Pura and if this is a bit like it, this is definitely in my will house. The bottle itself gives a very summery vibe as well. I also think this will be a very popular fragrance and summer is around the corner so people will definitely want to experience it. I like when someone compares fragrances to something as familiar as Erba Pura so it gives you a frame of reference and then you can make your own decision. Cheers from USA.

March is the time when I start looking for fresh, uplifting fragrances for the coming warmer months. The tropical Paradis Des Sens Valhalla seems perfect for spring/summer with the sunny fruits, vanilla, cashmere and amber notes. I’m unfamiliar with Ambrostar but it apparently enhances the amber with a nice dryness. I’ve not heard of Paradis Des Sens prior to Karl’s review. I’m in the US.

A juicy fruit basket. Sumthing new and invigorating for the spring and summer. I’m sure this is more than capable of all weather’s though. My main concern is how fruity and sweet it goes. But the base sounds stellar and definitely will anchor the whole composition. Would love to win. From Jacksonville, NC

  • Karl’s description of Paradis Des Sens Valhalla paints a vivid picture of a fragrance that evolves from a lively burst of fruity notes to a grounded, woody base, showcasing its versatility and complexity. The use of Ambrostar (which is a new component for me) as a proprietary ingredient adds a unique, dry, and ambery character to the scent, contributing to its distinctive and captivating appeal and it us curious. Karl’s detailed exploration of the fragrance’s composition and its potential to become a beloved staple in the brand’s collection highlights the meticulous craftsmanship and consumer-centric approach of both the perfumer and the brand.

  • I’m curious why they chose the name Valhalla, is there some sort of Nordic connection? I’ve been sampling a few fruity heavy mango fragrances and absolutely enjoy that type of DNA but haven’t found one that I want to commit to. Haven’t yet smelled Erba Pura so definitely interested in this one.

The weather is so bad lately – rainy and windy . In Karl Topham stirring article I believe there’s a sense of a different season coming from Paradis des Sens Valhalla , mostly late Spring and Summer.
I enjoy reading up on everything new in terms of fragrances, in particular fragrance brands, I’m sure I’d enjoy Valhalla a lot. If most of the other Paradis des Sens offerings are of the same quality and intricacy absolutely I’d enjoy them too.
Karl Topham observations on the Valhalla are based on positivity and vitality, delicious fruits like pear , mandarin and mango , cloudlike effects and opulence .
He was also able to capture my interest with Ambrostar proprietary ingredient

  • Thanks to Karl Topham review i started thinking about all kinds of warm and tropical moments I’d like to experience in the Summer 🙂
I’m now curious about Paradis des Sens Valhalla and the way it evolves. The contrast between the delicious fruits, cashmere and woods , day and night, innocence and temptation is to die for.
I love the idea of focusing on Ambrostar proprietary technology , enhancing Valhalla dry and ambery essence.

    Hello from UK
6 things i find particularly attractive in Paradis des Sens Valhalla based on my overall experience today:
    1. Karl Topham captivating review
2 . The insightful introduction of the brand and how utilize likable scent DNA with commercial appeal whilst adding novel ingredients of their own.
    3. Valhalla slight similarities to Erba Pura, while smelling more natural
    4. The perfumer is Pierre Constantine Guéros
    5. Juicy fruits, woods and amber magical combination
    6. Karl Topham called Scentologia Syn.ergy one of the best tropical fragrances of the last year in his overview of 2023 , and thanks to him i now own a bottle ,I’m more than pleased! I’m referring Syn.ergy because in Immortal Potion article Karl Topham mentioned the visitors of Esxence can visit Scentologia at S 27-29 , same stand like Paradis des Sens (from Michelyn note) so I connected the dots and believe the two are sister brands.
    Thank you so much

Valhalla sounds like a fun and exciting fruity fragrance for the upcoming nice weather of spring. I am definitely very curious about it. Thanks for the draw!

  • I love the scent of tropical fruits, but have often found it harsh or too strong to wear, so I am excited by Karl’s description of this being more refined and natural while still uplifting and even warm from the dry ambery note. I think I would absolutely love this! I live in the US.

  • It seems to me Valhalla from Paradis des Sens is high end , refined fragrance with some juicy mango , sensual cloudlike effect and ambery charm.
The good thing is that Valhalla changes quite a bit with the addition of cedar something I nourish , Karl is impressed too , always a good sign. I believe Pierre Constantine Guéros made a great one.

  • The fruit-forward opening of Valhalla sounds lively and fresh enough to keep it wearable and the “cloudlike effect” is interesting in this type of composition. I wonder if the woody accords in the base contribute to this texture. The vanilla, amber, tonka, and Ambrostar® combo sounds cozy. Cool bottle too!

No questions asked Pierre Constantine Guéros is a genius , and a future superstar perfumer.
I’m familiar with all fragrances under Arcadie de Niche Group umbrella , meaning Paradis Des Sens and Scentologia, excluding Immortal Potion. If I have to rate my favorite ones, including both brands:
    1. Valhalla
    2. Nirvana composed by Marzia Tissino , ex Takasago if I’m not mistaken , currently with NEO Parfums
    3. Syn.ergy another beauty by Pierre Constantine Guéros
Karl review is spot on, Valhalla is a gem , modern, tropical and fun. I especially like when he stated that Paradis Des Sens are utilizing likable DNA’s , with some twists and novelty ingredients. In Valhalla the Erba Pura/Kirke DNA is easily detectable, but where I differ from Karl is the lack of musky nuances , and the boozy warmth of the fragrance. I’m a strict teetotaller, and I’m not very good describing boozy notes , but Valhalla especially in the base smells fruity and boozy to me , like some experienced bartender made cocktail.
