As many parfumistas know, Bond No.9 is a company dedicated to immortalizing all parts of New York City in perfumes. Many of the perfumes released by Bond concentrate on more upscale neighborhoods and midtown locations but some of my personal favorites are from locations that pay tribute to places “downtown”.

The language associated with scent is complex, largely French, hard to pronounce, and often as overwrought as descriptions of fine wine. Brent Leonesio has done all of us a favor with his new fragrance collection, Vocabulary. He has created six perfumes, each representing a basic fragrance category.
As early as the the third century, Romans built elaborate bath houses. It is from these ancient origins that the founders behind a beautiful line of bath and shower products, Palatium, drew their inspiration .
What Mr. Brosius does is to take that concentrated vanilla and swathe it in resins which serve to accentuate not the common sweet character but the much more uncommon smoky character.
In the Fall of 2009 the perfumer who is part of the Turtle Salon, Isabelle Doyen, released Turtle Vetiver Exercise 1. Now a little over two years later we have the second in the series. Instead of being called Turtle Vetiver Exercise 2 it is named Turtle Vetiver Front. It is a simpler fragrance than Exercise 1 but this time the smoky aspects of vetiver are brought to the fore and retained throughout the development.
