Every one of the six courses of chef Tessa Liebman’s “Methods and Madness” dinner inspired by MCMC Fragrances was just as insanely detailed and carefully created. Every course was inspired by a particular MCMC fragrance, created by Anne McClain, and reflecting McClain’s gift of mixing up elixirs that evoke the natural and invoke the emotional.
Clive Christian has always released their perfume in pairs one for each gender but this time I have to say I see aspects of Victoria in both versions of V.
Pierre Aulas and Sonia Constant were the team to bring Swarovski Edition to life and their inspiration piece was the Swaovski Star Shadow clutch bag. Just like the clutch the perfumers made the middle of Edition the place where things get very intense and glittery as rose and gardenia provide the heartbeat. It is a subtly sparkly fruity floral with a great amount of style.

Probably the hardest thing to do is approach a fragrance impartially without preconceived notions. Not only do we have cultural biases, but the aggressive marketing of fragrances can sway our views.
One of the things I appreciate most about perfumer Juan M. Perez is the way in which he seems to “capture” not only the scent of whatever it is he is framing, in a perfume, but the total feeling or complete olfactory experience that created it. If you have smelled any of Juan’s work you will not be surprised to know Magnolio de Verano, Waters of Aswan, and Gardenia Exuberante come alive.
