Coming out of Pitti Fragranze, I very much wanted to try was the line of Jardins D’Ecrivains perfumes. I finally got to try George, La Dame aux Camelias, Gigi, and Wilde; and I’m wild for them.
What makes a great fragrance? It must smell great. Sometimes, I fear that in this increasingly saturated ‘niche’ market, we’ve forgotten that very basic fact. Second of all, it must tell a story, it must say something. Otherwise, how do we connect with it?
Laurice Rahme has managed to find some of the best perfumers to work under her creative direction. In 2005 she found a rising star in Aurelien Guichard and gave him the task of interpreting Bond No. 9 Chinatown.
