As I wore the latest creation by Alexandra Balahoutis for her Strange Invisible Perfumes line called Likewise I was reminded that perfume can also whisper and in that olfactory susurrus be completely unforgettable.
We are so excited to see more of a movement towards niche American brands. Seeing so many fragrance and cosmetic brands being made overseas is heartbreaking knowing not only the state of our economy but also that there are so many fabulous untapped resources right here
Scent often has the ability to evoke a specific time or place in my life, or it can just be beautiful, or it can create a landscape of aromas. One fragrance which does manage to do all of these at an extremely high level is 2006’s The Different Company Sel de Vetiver by perfumer Celine Ellena.

After having worn all five of these fragrances I came to think of them as a collection of olfactory watercolors Bertrand Duchaufour used to help him, and us as wearers, discover new aspects of notes we are very familiar with. In that lightness of composition we are shown the usual in a new light
