Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria (Ormonde Jayne Studio) 2025 + Pulse of the Rainforest Giveaway

VETIVERIA by Ormonde Jayne London

Image of Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria  via the brand

In the quiet refinement of the Melia Milano Hotel Suites during Esxence, I experienced Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria—a composition that reframes the familiar narrative of vetiver through a lens of luminous clarity and natural complexity. This is the vetiver of Indonesia’s emerald interiors, not as a brooding base note, but as a living, breathing presence—one that moves effortlessly between air and earth.

Linda Pilkington of Ormonde Jayne

Part of the Four Corners of the Earth collection, Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria opens with a vivid expression of citrus that recalls the bright, expansive signatures of Montabaco Verano and Cuba. Yet, where those fragrances cast their light across Mediterranean terraces and sun-drenched boulevards, Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria directs its radiance inward—through the shaded understory of the rainforest, where shafts of light cut through dense foliage and the air vibrates with quiet life. The opening sequence is immediate and bracing: Sicilian lime provides a sharp, almost crystalline brightness, while Timur pepper and juniper berry introduce an aromatic tension, lifted further by the cooling sharpness of sage. This citrus presence is not fleeting; it persists and refracts through the entire composition, a thread of light winding through a landscape of shadowed greens.

At the heart of Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria, snowbell and lavender soften the structure, offering an impression of diffused light rather than overt floralcy These notes seem less about scent and more about space—creating a moment of calm before the deeper facets of vetiver emerge. The vetiver here is drawn from Java, its character shaped by the heavy rains and fertile soils of the region. This is a softer, more contemplative expression of vetiver—absent the pronounced smoke or leather often found in other varieties. It rises slowly through the composition, bringing with it the scent of damp earth, moss-covered stone, and the faint mineral edge of rain-soaked rockrose.

The base introduces a measured warmth: tonka bean lends a subtle, creamy texture, while the vetiver remains ever-present, its green facets gently rounded but never obscured. The structure remains transparent even in its final stages, allowing each material space to resonate without collapse into density.

Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria draws the wearer into a landscape where the rainforest is not merely a backdrop but an active, breathing environment—where earth and air are held in delicate suspension, and the sensory experience moves between clarity and grounding. It is this interplay—between the immediacy of citrus and the quiet gravity of earth—that defines Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria. A journey not across grand vistas, but through the intimate spaces of nature, where the smallest details—the glint of dew on a leaf, the scent of moss after rain—become the most profound.

Notes: Timur Pepper, Sage, Juniper Berry, Lime, Snowbell, Lavender, Jasmine, Orange blossom, Vetiver, Moss, Rockrose, Tonka bean.

Disclosure: Bottle of Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria offered by the brand; opinions are my own.

  • The note that intrigues me the most based on the review is the note of snowbell.

    Why?

Because I’ve never heard of it! After several years in this hobby, just when you think you know it all, or have smelled it all, you get hit with a note that you’ve never smelled, seen or even heard of. And there’s always the chance, that new note might becomes a new favourite.

    So colour me intrigued!

    London, UK

  • Back in the 90’s the Lady Bird Johnson Gardens in Austin had several variations of rockrose that would bloom this time of year when the humidity and temperatures begin to quickly rise in anticipation of a hot dry Texas summer. My olfactory memories of that garden feel comforting and nurturing – a sweet smokiness similar to Amouage’s Search which I am wearing today.

I wonder how prominent that note along with the lime not are in this fragrance?

Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria! sounds so good!! Timur Pepper, Sage, Juniper Berry, Lime, Snowbell, Lavender, Jasmine, Orange blossom, Vetiver, Moss, Rockrose, Tonka bean. This sounds like an amazing perfume.
I love Ormonde Jayne fragrances they are so sophisticated!!

I knew this was coming soon but didn’t know the story behind the inspiration. Vetiveria takes you inside a forest where you experience everything nature has to offer. You can see from the bottle and the juice what this fragrance will be about. Ormonde Jayne has been around forever so for them to still come up with new concepts and ideas for their catalogue is what keeps the creativity and the house going in 2025. I cannot wait to try these or any of their new offerings. I’m located in the USA.

I like the combination of citrusy accords and vetiver that is typical for the fresh and bright vetiver based scents. Here the vetiver is mixed with lime in the opening, so this perfume sounds wonderful. I am intrigued by this lime accord. From EU.

The “power of narrative ” is certainly present in this review.I am absolutely intrigued by the notes and inspiration of this fragrance.
A note that never heard or even smell before is snowball and I am very intrigued to try it to this rainy forest composition, which sound quite idolic and breathtaking environment to experience.
I really liked the description of this note, together with the lavender they seem to bringe the whole composition and give a supportive role to the main character which is the vetiver. A truly sensory experience that sound to be a well done vetiver fragrance.
Would definitely be interested in this.Thank you for a marvelous review and draw.

  • It’s an obvious answer, but the note that intrigues me most is vetiver. I love vetiver fragrances! And this one sounds especially nice. I’m in Oklahoma, USA.

I love the note of lime in fragrances. I would love to experience lime within the structure of a rainforest fragrance. I live in Maryland USA.

  • scenternet says:

This sounds like such a refreshing take on vetiver! I usually think of vetiver as earthy and smoky, but the way Karl describes it here, lighter, rain-soaked, and balanced with citrus and tonka, really has me curious. I love the idea of a fragrance capturing that calm, misty rainforest vibe. The Timur pepper and juniper berry combo also sounds super intriguing. I’m in the U.S. and would be thrilled to experience this scent for myself!

  • FragranceIsMe says:

Thank you Karl for a wonderful article. There mere fact that you mentioned Montabaco Verano and Cuba, along with vetiver in the same paragraph has me exceedingly overwhelmed with the utmost of olfactive joy! My wife and I are huge fans of the aforementioned and look forward to the wonderful experience that Vetiveria has to offer 🙂

The inspiration of the rainforest is what interested me first. I imagine an earthy ever changing fragrance like the rainforest. Im also curious about the floral notes taking on what is described as a calming role before the vetiver comes back. I also enjoy citrus in my spring/summer fragrances that bring freshness to the scent. I am intrigued Pennsylvania USA

  • Froaderick says:

I’m really growing to appreciate how this house creates fragrances that are light, airy and long-lasting. I’m most curious about how the Juniper berry will be presented. Two of my current favorites are Ormonde Man and the above-noted Montabaco Verano, both incorporating Juniper or Juniper berries with such dramatically different results. Cheers from Ohio, USA! 🙂

  • This is very complex and uniquely layered. I like how the presentation and the advertisement really paints the image of the deep woods and the the serene vegetal livelyness it has. This takes you on a journey and I feel like it immerses the wearer in a jungle spirit. Want to win, from Jacksonville, NC.

  • HueloBien says:

The line that captured my full attention is was the vetiver (base note) is not a brooding base note.

As I understand Karl’s review, Jayne Vetiveria, is not dark or dense.
The idea of a airy, lighter vetiver sounds more appealing to me.

I don’t own any Ormonde Jayne fragrance, and Vetiveria is definitely worth to check out.

    From the USA.

I am so happy about the proliferation of Timur pepper notes in perfumery lately! That’s the note that intrigues me most. It starred in one other new perfume I tried this year. I’d like to get some of the pepper to cook with, and see how the taste compares to sichuan peppercorn. I’m really intrigued by Vetivera in general, because I really love Ormonde Jayne fragrances, and this verdant green perfume sounds so refreshing and absolutely perfect for summer. It’s going on the wishlist, so I’d be over the moon to win. I’m in the USA, thank you for the great review and generous draw.

Ormond Jayne has been one of my favorite house and Vetiver is undoubtedly my top favorite. My Zodiac is earth sign so I resonate deeply with Vetiver note. The Symphony of Vetiver portrayed as walking through a wet rain forest with beaming sun light, the smell of wet soil and mixed with the foliage is very Transportive and puts me into a meditative stage. I really hope to win this please please Thank you for the Opportunity . I am from PA,USA

  • Kensolfactoryodyssey says:

The note that intrigues me most is the Java vetiver—especially Karl’s description of it as a softer, more contemplative expression, shaped by rain and rich soil. I love the idea of vetiver not as a smoky anchor, but as a living, evolving presence that breathes through the composition.
    I live in the USA.

  • It’s a tough choice between the unique vetiver and the snowbell! I think the vetiver wins! I’m really curious to see how this vetiver differs!
    Mary in Pennsylvania

  • Most intrigued by rhe juniper note. I just got gentle fluidity silver and would love to compare how the juniper plays with the more citrus and green notes as opposed to being the star of the show in gfs. Usa

  • I remember the excitement when I ordered my first niche discovery set back in early 2015, which was Ormonde Jayne. The market has drastically changed since then, but OJ is still there and running. And I turned out to be a sucker for vetiver. So here we are, I am so curious where the typical style meets my favourite note. Can’t wait to smell it. I’d love to win this to Germany, thank you for the draw!

  • Honestly, the Java vetiver has me completely hooked. The way Karl describes it not smoky or leathery, but soft, earthy, rain-soaked… it sounds like vetiver reimagined as poetry. I love when a note you think you know suddenly feels like a new discovery. I can almost smell the moss and damp stone he’s talking about.

I think it’s the Timur pepper for me! I’ve never even heard of it before reading this, but it sounds so cool peppery with a citrus twist? Yes please! I’m just starting to explore perfumes and I love these unexpected notes that make a fragrance feel like a little adventure.

  • Lastochka says:

Lavender, definitely. I’m a sucker for anything with that calming, slightly herbal floral touch, and the way Karl describes it here as something that shapes the space rather than shouting “flowers!” just really speaks to me. It sounds beautifully balanced and meditative.

  • AromaAdventurer says:

The moss and rockrose part totally got me. I could see the rainforest floor when I read that wet stone, green shadows, quiet air. I love fragrances that feel like little landscapes you can carry with you. This one sounds like it tells a whole story.

  • LindenNoir says:

What intrigued me most was actually the lime strange, I know, since it’s so common. But the way it’s described as lasting and refracting throughout the scent instead of just popping in and vanishing? That’s not typical. Citrus with longevity that plays a structural role is something I’d love to experience firsthand.

  • Vetiveria by Ormonde Jayne really intrigues me – it seems like a calm, elegant take on vetiver. I like the idea of snowbell and lavender creating a soft, airy opening, leading into a more subtle, earthy vetiver from Java. The description of rain-soaked stone and moss sounds beautifully atmospheric. And with a creamy tonka base, it feels balanced and refined – definitely something I’d love to experience

Thanks to all of you i started to love artistic perfumery, and I very much enjoy niche style of reviews on Cafleurebon.
Karl Topham and Ormonde Jayne Studio were able to trick my imagination into thinking of a lush green forest in Indonesia, crispy and juicy lime , spices i don’t know , class and boldness are perfectly dosed and compounded to vetiver.

“The base introduces a measured warmth: tonka bean lends a subtle, creamy texture, while the vetiver remains ever-present, its green facets gently rounded but never obscured.”
By all means YES to what Karl stated , eye-opening and zealous review and one spectacular fragrance like Vetiveria.
Warm thanks to Ormonde Jayne, Karl Topham and Cafleurebon

Karl Topham article i find captivating for its vivid imagery and evocative descriptions of different kinds . In his own way he intertwined the Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria green, woody , fresh and spicy journey with Melia Milano Suites during Esxence . Karl convinced me that the warm spicy facets in Vetiveria,  Sicilian  lime and the opulent but modern vetiver are fused together in a truly immersive experience.

Remarkably enjoyable article , bravo to Karl Topham
So a rainforest where shafts of light cut dense foliage, crystalline brightness of the Sicilian lime, Timur pepper and juniper berries  …. Then throw in that quality vetiver from Java sandalwood and I just know this is heavenly. I need Vetiveria like now lol. Around two years ago I bought Ormonde Jayne Ta’if Elixir and I feel tempted once again.

I find the article very informative and i also appreciate learning about artistic nature of Linda Pilkington and Ormonde Jayne fragrances.
As usual well structured fragrance episode by Karl Topham , I like the more thoughtful overall experience I just had.
I am a citrus and aromatic fragrances lover if done in a original way , and Vetiveria appeals to me a lot. I like the kinetic pairing of Timur pepper, Sicilian lime , rich but not smoky vetiver and tonka bean.
My personal final flourish is the harmony Linda Pilkington and Ormonde Jayne Studio were able to achieve .

What I just read was not just a refined and detailed read , but some unique stories with grrleen adventures, icy citruses , refined craftsmanship and top quality ingredients , but Linda Pilkington vetiver dreams turned into reality , and I’m loving it.
What I enjoyed overall are the two tones of the “Pulse of the Forest” giveaway , the older read with Linda Pilkington life and career retrospective linked by Michelyn Camen , Editor-in-Chief, and Karl Topham introduction to Vetiveria, both grabbed my attention right away .
I love good and sophisticated strong green, fresh and woody fragrances just like I love happy , dedicated and not overly pretentious people like Linda Pilkington , the whole experience of the two articles is like a medley of both. I enjoyed the way Ormonde Jayne Studio made one unbelievable aroma in a unique , yet so cozy and classy at the same time way

I feel like Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria is so sophisticated, perfectly suited fragrance for formal occasions but because of the unique spices and icy tempting Sicilian lime trail also for clubbing, maybe even dates. I have a feeling Linda Pilkington had a plan to make a complex and contemporary citrus aromatic fragrance , and result could be seen through every aspect of the Karl Topham review.
Not sorely because I feel attracted to the zingy citruses, softer vetiver and lavender, I actually enjoy the whole thing, the juniper berry and the green wink .
I had a great time, thank you

  • I’m a big fan of vetiver, so Karl’s description of the Java vetiver really stood out to me. I love how he highlights its softer, more grounded side. It sounds like the kind of vetiver that quietly draws you in rather than making a bold statement. That gentle, natural vibe really intrigues me.

    EU

  • What really intrigued me in Karl’s review was the portrayal of vetiver not as a smoky, grounding base but as a vibrant, living element — soft, green, and shaped by the rains of Java. The idea of a vetiver that breathes with the landscape, paired with sparkling Sicilian lime and the mineral edge of rockrose, feels like a fresh take on an often heavy note. I’m especially curious about how Timur pepper, juniper, and sage create that tension between clarity and earthiness. This sounds like a vetiver I’d want to walk through — not just wear. I live in France and would love to explore this rainforest reverie.

  • The Sicilian lime note intrigued me the most due to the review stating that it persists throughout the fragrance which is very uncommon for a citrus note to do. Also lime is probably my favorite citrus note so I would love to smell this too see how prominent it is. I’m in the USA

  • Logic.vs.Emotion says:

Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria captivated my interest. With the assistance of Karl Topham i can tell the use of vetiver from Java here is expertly applied by Ormonde Jayne Studio , giving Vetiveria a few softer and more contemplative edges. I’m keen on the Timur pepper and the Sicilian lime too , and the way they give the fragrance a deep crystalline brightness.
I’m down with the idea of smooth and alluring vetiver fragrance that’s not smoky and leathery . I acknowledge Karl Topham fine work and I’d like to say I’m thankful for the chance. EU

  • I would love to win this perfume because I love vetiver, my favorite is Sycomore by Chanel, I’ve heard a lot about this brand and the Ormonde Woman perfume but I’ve never been able to try one of them. In this article, I love this excerpt: “Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria draws the wearer into a landscape where the rainforest is not merely a backdrop but an active, breathing environment—where earth and air are held in delicate suspension, and the sensory experience moves between clarity and grounding.” I live in France, EU.

  • I find snowbell to be the most intriguing note, especially because it’s such a delicate scent. In combination with lavender, I believe it adds a certain freshness and dewiness to the composition, while the citrus in the opening keeps it sparkling and alive and the tonka gives it a rounder and creamier dimension. Another image that I found beautiful in Karl’s article is the rainforest being “an active, breathing environment”.
Would love to smell Vetiveria, from the EU.

  • I am most intrigued to experience vetiver’s aspects of humid earth and moss, mist and stone in this fragrance. I am in USA.

  • I love a bright, lively vetiver. What’s interesting is the way Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria enhances that bright green synesthesia with an unusual aromatic opening (the lime and Timur pepper sound like a potent combination) and Java vetiver material without any smoky weight. “It is this interplay—between the immediacy of citrus and the quiet gravity of earth—that defines Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria.” I’d love to try it.

    I’m in the USA.

i’ve had the chance to sample several ormonde jayne fragrances & have always been struck by how nuanced yet congruent their botanical notes are. i’m interested in how the lavender & snowbell florals eventually shift to the java-sourced vetiver. vetiver can be a tricky note, but i’m confident it’s well balanced here with the moss, rockrose, and tonka bean that karl calls out. i very much hope this becomes available to sample at my local perfume stores.. i can easily see myself returning over and over to smell the green notes here.

thanks for the review, from USA!

Vetiveria is woody and icy fresh citrusy bouquet done right. I’ve always been favorable to clean vetiver , and natural smelling citruses , although never experienced Timur pepper as a note , but here It gives the fragrance and a sophisticated spin , nice work . From EU

Vetiveria was able to impress Karl , top quality and artistry , say no more.

    Howdies from Germany
I’m very much picky in terms of woody and aromatic fragrances , and especially those that combine the two genres.
Karl Topham’s assessment of Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria brought me back to my childhood when grandma used to make us a lemonade every single morning, and we used to go in the woods on picnics a couple of times per week , great times I miss a lot.
I became instantly attracted to the comforting Sicilian lime opening , together with carefully selected by Linda Pilkington other deeper woody and green shades like vetiver from Java , lavender and tonka bean . I really like the dance between fresh and woody.
When I buy new niche fragrance the quality should be outstanding, and the with certain level of uniqueness , I’m definitely impressed.
Sum total i love the whole Karl Topham read , and I’d also love to win a bottle of Vetiveria

  • I decided to share my takeaway about Linda Pilkington life cycles from the recommend by Michelyn Camen article from 12 years ago first , since it’s important to me

“Brimming with confidence I now set out to think long and hard about what I could do to make Ormonde Jayne different from the other perfume houses. I had the ideas, the know-how, I also had a studio and all the equipment but I needed something extra special to set us apart.”
I’m currently preparing for my 5th for the year craft exhibition , this time in Spain , and as artisan myself, I’m a leather arts craft woman i can’t even describe how overjoyed I felt today after reading about Linda Pilkington life cycles. Crafting and strive for originality always brings joy to the artist no questions asked. We share a lot of common objectives and principles, Linda Pilkington and I .
Of course other then the original article i also enjoyed Karl Topham experiences with Ormonde JayneVetiveria , quite zesty but comforting woody and citrusy fragrance , directly influenced by a dense rainforest , and modern day vetiver. Not just the great smelling aroma , there’s also Timur pepper, a spice i was not aware of , it’s almost like Vetiveria is part of a fantasy story.
    Much appreciated, EU

Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria sounds great, I’m fascinated by the love affair between the Timur pepper and Sicilian lime from one angle, and the softer vetiver from Java, and the measured warmth of the tonka bean on another. Karl Topham pointed out that the citrus and the quite gravity of the earth do clash leading to a brilliant woody and citrusy cloud , there’s a theory that opposites attract and Ormonde Jayne Studio work is the evidence.
The intricate layering of woody and fresh , plus the beautiful green melody of the Indonesian rainforest do make Vetiveria sound enchanting and multifaceted.
    Thanks a lot EU

Considering how knowledgeable Karl Topham is , I’m surprised by his enthusiasm for Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria , thrilled as he ever been to say the least. There are so many good citrus aromatic fragrances on the market right now, but creating not just good but also unique fragrance featuring the two is something major. The high quality vetiver from Java , and the Timur pepper are the two aspects that make the difference .
I’d like to share my favorite part of the article
“This is a softer , more contemplative expression of vetiver- absent the pronounced smoke or leather often found in other varieties”
Love, love and love again. It’s remarkable that Ormonde Jayne Studio people are thinking outside of the box , and with Vetiveria they found the balance between wearability and originality.
Like everything in real life some components of Vetiveria like the orange blossom are gentle , some creamy like the tonka bean , others zesty like the Sicilian lime, others like the vetiver and the lavender i find venturous. The balance between the vetiver from Java and Sicilian lime I’m looking for the most .

The right way to start with Linda Pilkington life story from the older interview with Michelyn Camen, and then go to the present time with Karl Topham review of Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria.
Apparently Margaux Le Paih Guérin was a bright mind at young age with interest perfumes , art and creativity , and passion for travel. She developed passion for craftsmanship , originality and beauty , maybe that’s why Ormonde Jayne was one of the first western houses to use oud  .
Vetiveria is an elegant perfume , where the citruses are shimmering , lavender and juniper berries are easy to detect , on the flip side because of the softer richness of Javanese vetiver it also possesses a comfortable personality. Special fragrance i’d cherish if I win.
I have no previous experience with Ormonde Jayne fragrances

  • Such a pleasing experience i just had Wow
About today’s read and video , both vivid and full of originality, and transformative energy.

“Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria draws the wearer into a landscape where the rainforest is not merely a backdrop but an active, breathing environment—where earth and air are held in delicate suspension, and the sensory experience moves between clarity and grounding.”

Nice , Karl Topham read is so comforting, like a mental getaway to the Indonesian rainforest , Javanese vetiver , green feel , and lime from Sicily what a journey i just had. I bet Vetiveria would surprise me greatly , soulful fragrance i believe , I’m hooked.

Linda Pilkington made fragrance is letting its zesty fresh and fun Sicilian side shine bright with soft woody facets that thicken up the feel of the Timur pepper , adding one of a kind rich undertones to this vetiver exelance . As Karl said, Vetiveria is like an interplay between the immediacy of citrus and the quite gravity of the earth , Love that! EU

In my steadily growing fragrance collection there is already one Ormonde Jayne fragrance Taif Elixir , and I’m very much looking forward of trying Vetiveria.
Even though Karl Topham spoke of all the different fresh, spicy , green and woody aspects of Vetiveria , what impressed me the most is how the citrus presence is not fleeting, the vetiver is on the cleaner side and how the snowbell and lavender soften the structure of the fragrance.
I love going out and Vetiveria is just perfect for the times i’m going to more high end parties.

All fragrances can tell a story , I think in Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria the story is in between classic and adventurous , and everything is leading to good memories , and potential successful business deals. J Wearescentient even said the aroma is like a beautiful melody.
I have a keen interest in Vetiveria because of Karl Topham and Linda Pilkington cosmopolitan personalities , and how versatile the fragrance is . I find the blend unique because the Timur pepper , but also suitable for all occasions thanks to vetiver from Java, the Sicilian lime and lavender. The juniper berries are more than welcomed too

I wish I had a colorful life story like Linda Pilkington , from candle maker , to best stand design awards, working with Geza Schoen, elegant perfumes that came out of creative ideas , art and crafts. Yes I read the recommended interview with Linda Pilkington . I’m impressed not only with her work in perfumery , but the craftspeople involved in her every day activities, how happy she is as a business owner and how she loves traveling like me .
As usual there’s no basic information with Karl Topham , his review is multidimensional as well .
I know niche fragrances and with the brutal competitiveness on the market i need something big to really grab my attention, and Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria high quality raw materials, Italian and Javanese connections, modern vetiver and the tonka bean aroma melding well did the trick for me.
Through Vetiveria I can book a flight to Sicily and Java , whiteout actually being there. You can’t beat that

    Hello from UK
“The creative and original ideas that form Ormonde Jayne have all developed from my passion for travel. Probably my best ability is my switched on brain and beady eye and pursuit of perfection. It can be a moody song with romantic lyrics, the perfect colour of coral, a shimmering stretch of sand and sun, the inside of a vintage Bentley together with a good stretch of the imagination and my relentless passion for “only the best will do” make for an Ormonde Jayne perfume.”
Splendid approach to life , all above is well depicting Linda Pilkington as a business owner, and creative person. Thank you Michelyn for the link to your interview.
Vetiveria is a fragrance i’d absolutely love to win , partially for the cleaner and softer vetiver from Java, partially for the zest by the lime from Sicily ,partially for the spices , but most importantly for the sophisticated feel.
The new bottle looks spectacular. I do have a favorite Ormonde Jayne fragrance , it’s Tolu. The biggest 120ml bottle from the older presentation i bought in person at Ormonde Jayne boutique in Royal Arcade Mayfair.

I believe it’s easy to say Karl enjoyed exploring Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria more than usual.
The idea of adding novelty ingredients like Timur pepper and snowbell to Sicilian lime , and then again to vetiver base with a bit of creamy tonka bean only comes to show the creative part of Linda Pilkington character.
Elegant fragrance with lots of twists , no wonder Karl thinks Vetiveria is like a journey through the intimate spaces of nature, where the smallest details become the most profound.

I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen Karl so involved, and exited for woody aromatic with lots of citruses , that’s a statement on its own ! If he believes the vetiver is softer and more contemplative, Sicilian lime is sharp and bright and Timur pepper and juniper berry introducing an aromatic tension , i can’t even imagine how good Vetiveria really is , dopamine rush i can already feel.

Great review! I love the way Karl compared this beautiful fragrance to Montabaco Verano, fragrance I love and own , Indonesian rainforest, Sicilian lime ,lavender and ingredient I was not aware of called Timur pepper. True juxtaposition of classic and modern if you ask me.

Undoubtedly the best is still to come for Ormonde Jayne and Linda Pilkington.
Stark contrasts and a little bit of everything of what I like I’d describe in short Vetiveria. The unique merging of spices , florals , Sicilian lime and vetiver leaning on the softer side are the most appealing sides of Vetiveria . • I absolutely love Karl work , once again the information made me wonder, and think for a while.

The base introduces a measured warmth: tonka bean lends a subtle, creamy texture, while the vetiver remains ever-present, its green facets gently rounded but never obscured. The structure remains transparent even in its final stages, allowing each material space to resonate without collapse into density.

Since I enjoyed everything I read I’m not sure where should even start with. Should I start with how artistic and beautiful Vetiveria is , Karl passion for creative fragrances , or well blended the fragrance is , or maybe the importance of new ingredients like Timur pepper i was absolutely not aware of?
All are equally as important for the forming of Vetiveria identity. Thanks to Karl i know the new Ormonde Jayne fragrance is just awesome , showing up the true elegance of niche perfumery .

  • I’m in Virginia and the “crystalline” citrus note is intriguing and much needed during a muggy Tidewater summer. I hope the vetiver has some grapefruit underneath it’s earthiness to accompany the lime note.

Citruses and vetiver is a well known combination , i like how Karl confirmed the originality of the composition . Obviously it clicked well with him, feels like it will click with me too. Other than the vetiver from Java and the lime I like the subtle warmth of Vetiveria, its elegance and versatility, and also the outfit of Linda Pilkington on the second picture.

  • I’m keen on Cafleurebon not sorely because of the multiple sophisticated fragrances and reviews I can find here , that’s the bonus but not the main reason. What actually matters to me is the individuality of every single author.
Karl Topham is keen on Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria not sorely because of the smell, but because of the natural ingredients and the calming characteristics. Posh woody aromatic with zesty essence, skilfully crafted ingredients , and as a whole evocative blend I’m drawn to.

  • Linda Pilkington life diary really paints a picture of her intricate character . What really grabbed me was her extensive journey , and the fact that ever since the early stages of her career when even Michelyn Camen was just starting writing about niche fragrances, until 2013 when the interview was made up until 2025 the two ladies are still committed to quality and originality. Very different scent profile , still exactly like my gem Xandria, Vetiveria is another precious stone rooted in Linda Pilkington love to travel. And if Xandria is better suited for parties and dates, Vetiveria is down to earth like literally 😉 More versatile, all year round fragrance where vetiver from Java to my liking is not too smoky or leathery , but softer instead. Also to my liking the Sicilian lime is quite persistent and not a fleeting memory of the opening. Vetiveria is a vetiver fragrance with a modern twist and appeal , to me it sounds delightful. • Nice review, Karl! I really like vetiver, and just seeing the color (that forest green) of this new Ms. Pilkington product, featuring vetiver as the absolute protagonist, has won me over. This time, the magical Indonesian root has a luminous clarity and is naturally complex. It has a citrusy and spicy opening that evokes light emanating from the towering trees of a tropical forest, giving way to a soft (not smoky, not leathery) vetiver with a mossy green undertone, aided by rockrose and moss. Thus, the duality and interplay of citrus and earth define this journey that is Ormonde Jayne’s new fragrance. I live in Spain, EU.

What grabbed me the most today in no particular order a) Karl Topham state of mind b) how popular the house of Ormonde Jayne has become c) Linda Pilkington inventiveness and desire to create sophisticated and elegant fragrances e) how upscale Vetiveria is f) how the Sicilian lime provides sharp , almost crystalline brightness g) how the vetiver is softer and not as aggressive
    It’s been a pleasure

Cafleurebon is the expert in niche fragrances , and since Ormonde Jayne fragrances are available on the blog the excellent quality is guaranteed. Good to know Linda Pilkington is a long time friend and partner of the blog.
Vetiveria I find more comforting and easy to wear . The fragrance i find most attractive, the scent is absolutely unapologetic ode to the rainforests of Indonesia and to citrus fields of Sicily altogether.
That’s how I’d describe the fragrance after reading Karl Topham evaluation. Some fragrances do more than smell beautiful – they speak to the heart , and Vetiveria absolutely speaks to me.
I do have a favorite Ormonde Jayne perfume by the name of Xian.
    I’m eager to participate  EU

Such a devotion , cherished memories between Ormonde Jayne and Cafleurebon and strength of characters , I’m loving it here ❤
I liked the way Karl Topham underlines that all ingredients of Vetiveria are well balanced, there’s nothing overbearing like super smoky or leathery. On contrary the vetiver is softer, more contemplative,  there’s warmth, breathing environment, freshness and originality.
I can see myself wearing Vetiveria,  such a skilfully crafted fragrance.
Respect for people like you , EU

  • SafetyMatters says:

One particular phrase caught my attention from Karl Topham description “This is a softer, more contemplative expression of vetiver—absent the pronounced smoke or leather often found in other varieties”
Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria is quite intriguing , as I have become more attracted to Indonesian culture lately , and cleaner and softer style of vetiver fragrances as I’ve progressed in my fragrance journey. Karl absolutely delivered with his comprehensive review and painted a really excellent lush green forest picture of this offering. Other than the cleaner vetiver I’m found of lavender , Timur pepper and the lime ,  and Vetiveria thrills me very much.
Ormonde Jayne is a brand I’ve wanted to sample so I hope to get this in my collection. EU Appreciate the chance

  • My takeaway about Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria and Karl Topham work with a quote from the

“The base introduces a measured warmth: tonka bean lends a subtle, creamy texture, while the vetiver remains ever-present, its green facets gently rounded but never obscured. The structure remains transparent even in its final stages, allowing each material space to resonate without collapse into density”
Unquestionably dedication is a must for the 21st century dire competition, and expectations are beyond high for everyone , in particular popular niche brands like Ormonde Jayne. Linda Pilkington actually feels the need to create and design the best elegant fragrances possible, she has quality ingredients in his disposal and a dedicated team.
Judging by Karl Topham detailed and honest opinion , and how ecstatic he is describing Vetiveria , all makes me feel free will sophisticated fragrance with zesty and woody appeal is already on the market.
The new marvelous looking bottle of course is something to be expected from the brand, the new shape is different than the bottles of Tolu and Ormonde Man , my personal favorites but just as pretty , if not more . Thank you

Thank you for introducing me to “Vetiveria ” , Ormonde fragrances are in my to-try-list now . The fact that the senior editor Karl Topham said the fragrance, other than softer vetiver out of Java and fresh long lasting lime out of Sicily, in the heart there’s lavender and snowbell sounds promising. Very much a calming encounter for people who like to take some time off and love the nature .EU

  • NeverOrdinaryPerfumery says:

Such a nice surveying Karl Topham did on Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria , I’m keen on his meticulousness .
Jumping in between flavorful peppery, juicy citrusy , aromatic , woody and soothing depictions was a treat i was not expecting . I’m pleased since I have a thing for high-end vetiver fragrances done in an unconventional manner.
Count me in . From the EU

I love the concept of “Four Corners of the World” collection where Linda Pilkington is creating fragrance in admiration for the ingredients, , spices and spice markets of the world.
From the original Linda Pilkington essay:
“Brimming with confidence I now set out to think long and hard about what I could do to make Ormonde Jayne different from the other perfume houses. I had the ideas, the know-how, I also had a studio and all the equipment but I needed something extra special to set us apart.”
I had similar tho,and experiences when I was thinking about how to make it work with my bakery, the name, the location, and most importantly how to make it better , and unique compared to the bakeries in the area.
Judging by the Vetiveria article i have to say the meaning is clear , high class soothing and versatile fresh, woody and spicy fragrance, with ingredients i love Sicilian lime , snowbell aka styrax and Timur pepper.
I relate all fragrances to some sort of food, and Karl Topham take on Vetiveria made me think of being in Indonesia, making Lime and Timur pepper Tarts and walking through the exact same Indonesian rainforest like the one on the picture in the article. Timur pepper taste and aroma is in between ripe sweet pink grapefruit ,lemongrass and candied lemon. If I have to guess the crystalline brightness Karl spoke of is based on the mixture of the Timur pepper and the Sicilian lime. I’m very much interested in the softer vetiver too.
To me Ormonde Jayne almost equals Ta’if Elixir, smells very, and I mean very similar to a traditional Persian cake with rose, cardamom, saffron, almonds , orange water and dates. It’s called Kayk-e Eshgh , but more people know it as Persian Love Cake. Love it , even bought second bottle recently.
Appreciate the review, Linda Pilkington original essay, and the giveaway campaign.

It’s amazing how Linda Pilkington and Ormonde Jayne Studio worked towards turning their fresh green vetiver dreams into reality .
Karl Topham took his time to talk about the ingredients , the whole creative process , the Indonesian rainforest anatomy and not just how the fragrance smells.
I’ve experienced a lot of vetiver fragrances ,but nothing like Vetiveria with the influence of  Timur pepper, some poetic realities and references and Sicilian lime . Thanks to Karl Topham , and to Ormonde Jayne for generously providing Vetiveria to one lucky reader.EU

  • Prima_Blonde says:

Considering how I love Ormonde Jayne Montabaco Verano, Montabaco Cuba and Frangipani i love Karl description Vetiveria. Ormonde Jayne Studio  wrapping the fragrance in a succulent and decadent Sicilian lime coat concurrently with a beautiful green Indonesian rainforest  dress underneath , and soft vetiver shoes made in the island of Java , I’m loving the whole outfit of Vetiveria  🙂
Beyond questions I’m all for the zesty effervescence, warm woody qualities all mashed into a indulgent tonality.
Karl highlighted the authenticity and grace of the rainforest as foundations of Vetiveria path and I’m on board with that.
I’m delighted by the review and the chance , in the UK

  • Sweet.Lemon94 says:

Karl introduction to Vetiveria was truly captivating, offering a fascinating glimpse into the creative process behind this luscious and luxurious fragrance. I particularly appreciated his description of how the new Ormonde perfume transitions from the crystalline brightness of the Sicilian lime, to the contemplative expression of vetiver while snowbell and lavender accords softening the structure of the fragrance, offering an impression of diffused light rather than overt floralcy. Everything leads into a memory wrapped in serenity. The balance between the different elements in masterful. Best wishes from EU

Since Nawab of Oud is my fave , and Linda Pilkington complex nature is very much similar to mine I’d like to say I’m thankful for the chance of winning Vetiveria
Taking into consideration my impressions of the awesome intro , deeper resonances echoing from the Indonesian rainforest , elegance and authenticity as foundations of Linda Pilkington vision and soft vetiver grace , i’m convinced Vetiveria is my cup of tea.
It’s vital to me that the vetiver used in the fragrance is not smoky and leathery, Ormonde Jayne is setting the bar high for a vetiver fragrance. The Timur pepper is a riveting new addition too
    Many thanks , UK

The current review by Karl is awesome , still Ormonde Jayne I will always relate to Cafleurebon and Dana Sandu first.
Ormonde Jayne Royal Elixir review a few years ago, and my decision to buy it just because I liked the review changed my mind about blind buying.
Now i have way more experience with fragrances, but back then I was shocked how different Royal Elixir smells to me, compared to how Dana depicted the scent. No blind buys for me anymore, I learned my lesson , luckily for me in a good way because I absolutely love Royal Elixir
“It can be a moody song with romantic lyrics, the perfect colour of coral, a shimmering stretch of sand and sun, the inside of a vintage Bentley together with a good stretch of the imagination and my relentless passion for “only the best will do” make for an Ormonde Jayne perfume.”
Great quote from Linda Pilkington essay. Vetiveria i’ll try , the bottle is awesome, but I wonder what I’ll get from it, quality tranquil and elegant fragrance , with long lasting citruses remnants of the dense foliage of a rainforest in Indonesia , or something else
    Overly exciting giveaway,USA

Ormonde Jayne have been releasing beautiful fragrances last 2-3 years Montabaco Verano, Cuba , Ivoire, Arabesque, Kashmir and brand new Vetiveria seems to be a high quality fragrance too . I’m so glad I’m familiar with Ormonde Jayne, the four I actually ordered during the years are Montabaco Verano, Ivoire, Arabesque and Tolu.
I have a penchant for high grade woody and fresh fragrances , i like them all.
Karl Topham examination of Vetiveria fascinated me , the fragrance is so posh , and the new emerald green flacon is so beautiful.
Even the naming is a bullseye, as the fragrance look and smell matches the idea of green, woody and fresh vetiver
    Thank you very much

Such a lovely way to celebrate a shaded rainforest. ! I found Karl Topham introduction to Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria intriguing, highlighting the originality of the composition and how realistic it is. The scent profile is blend appreciation for vetiver , vibrant Sicilian lime, aromatics like lavender and Timur pepper, everything smoothen up to perfection by Ormonde Jayne Studio.
Ormonde Jayne seems to have a lot of variety in what they offer , Vetiveria is a nice way to start exploring

Wow, what a wonderful review ! It truly transported me to a cozy small village in the middle of Indonesian rainforest where everything is made by hand .  Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria sounds absolutely wonderful and unique,  that mix of lime , vetiver, lavender and the sense of intimacy is just raw comfort in a bottle. I’ve always been a fan of  Taif and Taif Elixir from Ormonde Jayne — two  lyrical roses ,  soft yet fruity and complex, and it seems like Vetiveria carries that same emotional core even though it’s a completely different fragrance.
I can’t wait to try it, especially in those days when I’d like to have the need to just relax

“I travelled far and met some incredible people along the way, I’ve learnt so much by taking the hands-on approach at every level. The studio is now bigger and better and right by Regents Park in London. Ormonde Jayne is a British perfume house; the candles oils and perfumes are all created by me, Linda Pilkington, translated by GezaSchoen and put together by our wonderful team of craftsmen at our own London studio. We stay in touch with our clients and have a dedicated Customer Service team to make sure everything is running smoothly.”

I’ve been a Linda Pilkington fan for a very long time , a fighter and a dreamer at once.I know most of Ormonde Jayne fragrances and if I have to rate my favorite ones depending on my mood , all 4 i own:
    1. Frangipani Made to Measure
    2. Ta’if Elixir
    3. Tolu /Montabaco Verano
There’s quite a lot of buzz surrounding Vetiveria online, thanks to Karl I know it’s for a good reason. Not exactly sure what Timur pepper is, but I’m all for soft and not overly earthy, leathery or smoky vetiver. The Sicilian lime presence through the entire composition , the lavender and tonka bean are additional aspects i appreciate.
In my opinion the fragrance is leaning classy, and suited for formal occasions, not something you wear on everyday basis.
    All profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg

I like the way Karl Topham shared the way he  perceives Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria ,  focusing on the Italian and Indonesian stories behind the fragrance , and of course the way it smells.
The happy medium between the Sicilian lime, the warm tonka bean, moss-covered stone and softer expression of vetiver- that’s the Vetiveria image currently stuck in my mind. I’d love to discover another Ormonde Jayne fragrance , other than Montabaco Rio, a fragrance I received for my last birthday as a gift.
You have my sincere thanks EU

I’ve been interested in Ormonde Jayne for a while now now since I’ve seen Redolessence videos and top 10s , and Vetiveria and Karl Topham “2025 Pulse of the Rainforest ” article only deepens that curiosity.
I can’t imagine how hard it was for Ormonde Jayne Studio to create an evocative and artistic vetiver fragrance that’s unique and piece of mind fueled. Quality soft vetiver,  my  attraction to ingredients i don’t know like Timur pepper, lime from Sicily i have to say Vetiveria is a captivating Indonesian fragrance trip I’m willing to take.
    I value the opportunity. Germany

  • Bubeto_GG says:

Wearability of Vetiveria is top notch, fresh, woody aromatic with natural sweetness. It’s worth nothing that while on a business trip in London i went to Ormonde Jayne boutique to buy once again Tolu , and I was told that Vetiveria is close to a discontinued fragrance called Zizan where some ingredients and oil concentrations are currently banned from IFRA.
Karl review is lovely, the only thing I’d add is that I smell something sweet in Vetiveria, like a lemon lollipop . Modern take on vetiver , long lasting too .
Tolu is still my favorite after all this time,i’m wearing it right now
    Thank you for the opportunity
