Olfactive O Floral Smoke Review (Secret Perfumer) 2024 + A Seductive Giveaway

Floral Smoke by Olfactive O

Olfactive O Floral Smoke

Olfactive O is a young London brand who have capably built their collection of perfumes around distinct scent personalities, helping guide noses through their blossoming collection by using active statements to personify their compositions. For example: if you consider yourself sparkling and spontaneous they’d recommend their Citrus perfume, or if you’re more buttoned up and act aloof a lot you should try their Woody perfume. It’s a unique and direct way to help people navigate their range; allowing your personality to influence your scent choice but also, more importantly, enabling your scent choice to influence your personality.

And whilst the compositions from the brand’s secret perfumer are great – their Citrus is refreshingly crisp and delightfully lemony, the Amber is a well-executed and bright and their Gourmand is a malty, caramel swirl of rich pudding notes and patchouli – there’s just a very likeable unconventionality in last year’s Olfactive O Floral Smoke that sets it apart from the rest. Not just because it’s veering slightly away from the pre-formatted perfume genres (the amber one, the fruity one, the skin scent etc.) but because it’s also doing something that’s genuinely quite interesting, vivid and multi-layered.

For me, Olfactive O Floral Smoke is a bit of a bruised floral; a survivor, it’s seen things and done things that other florals probably shouldn’t or ever will. As such it forsakes naivety and the pleasantries of sunnier, jasmine-adjacent notes and revels instead in the contemplative density of narcissus, a touch of myrrh and the unorthodox allure of a rather fleshy smelling tuberose.

Olfactive O Floral Smoke is always doing a lot, without ever doing too much. It’s seductive yet nonchalant, catching and holding your attention without playing up for it. It’s got powdery violet accents and cushioning softer parts but it’s also got attitude and heft thanks to the deep tone of the chosen florals and the rich woody spine (which is where the whispers of the eponymous smoke are wrapped up in).

It wears like a well-worn leather jacket, the toughened exterior contouring to you perfectly in a way that other people can’t outwardly see. Even though it might seem to be a little standoffish at first, all Olfactive O Floral Smoke really wants is to be seen, to be around you and to be properly understood.

Notes: violet leaf, black pepper, orange blossom, tuberose, narcissus, myrrh, sandalwood, cedarwood, vetiver

Love the concept behind the fragrance actually matching your personality and vice versa. When I saw the name of floral smokeI thought it would be a rough but that’s not the vibe I get from it. Sure it’s peppery and pearly but not an incense cloud of smoke. This is the first time I am hearing about this house as well so I’d be interested to know what are their other fragrances and the personalities they bring. I’m located in the US.

  • I would be curious to sample this fragrance based on the narcissus and myrrh notes. My favourite house has always been Amouage because I feel drawn to those incense notes. I only wish Amouage would be more adventurous under Salmon. I am in the US.

  • I do love a smoky fragrance. The description of a “bruised floral” seems to fit Floral Smoke well. The notes of narcissus, myrrh and black pepper are calling to me. On my wishlist it goes. Thank you for another wonderful review and draw. MI USA

  • The “bruised floral” concept and the blend of narcissus, myrrh, and tuberose in Olfactive O Floral Smoke intrigue me. Its smoky, contemplative depth with a worn-leather vibe sounds uniquely seductive. I live in Poland, EU.

Floral Smoke sounds so beautiful to me. I don’t yet know what this smells like, but I can imagine. The soft tuberose and violet mingling with the mighty orange blossom and narcissus. The grounding woody notes must compliment the florals so much, and I love the addition of myrrh here. I’ll be adding this to my must try list immediately. I live in Oregon.

  • A perfume that has seen things others haven’t is intriguing . And the notes sounds super promising. I’m interested. In maryland.

  • Floral smoke, while not being all that similar in notes, immediately brings Amouage Myths Man to mind. I wonder if this could be similar enough to scratch the itch that Myths Man has left many people with since its discontinuation? It’s definitely a genre I’d like to see explored more. I’m in the USA

I think they are definitely on to something with matching fragrances with personality. I’m interested in Floral Smoke because the notes sound different and the description is like nothing I’ve ever read. Some elements seem to contradict the themselves. Some of the description is soft and powdery other times it’s said to be bold with body. It sounds interesting. I’m in Pennsylvania USA

i definitely agree with oli’s judgement of floral smoke seeming to be a refreshing breakaway from their more conventional scents (of course, nothing wrong with the basics executed well!)
from the notes, i wouldn’t expect the smoke, but it makes sense that the woody notes (sandalwood, cedar, vetiver) are played together in a smoky way to back the more traditional white florals. i’m very curious about the violet leaf & if that ties together the florals and smoky/woody elements!

    thanks, from the USA

This one sounds good. I love “powdery accents” with” a rich woody spine”. Very leather jacket over a girly dress. I am going to their website right now. Skin also sounds good to me. Too bad the discovery set is sold out. Thank you for the drawing. NY state USA

  • Based on Oli’s review, Olfactive O Floral Smoke sounds like a floral that’s seen some things. I imagine it not as your typical fresh bloom, but more like flowers left in a dimly lit room, their scent mingling with old wood, faint incense, and a lingering trace of skin. The narcissus and tuberose suggest something heady and almost overripe, but then there’s that thread of smoke and woods grounding it, giving it a slightly androgynous, quietly smoldering personality. It reads like a scent for someone mysterious and introspective – less about sweetness, more about story.
Thanks for the review and the draw, from EU.

  • Brandon Rodriguez says:

Love the description of it being like a worn leather jacket. Like a comfort of the familiar but the outgoing nature of being bold and noticeable. This seems to be a scent personified and I love how the smoke is subtle but bold and floral

  • An original fragrance for individualists! The very presence of Narcissus speaks for itself! I would like to be a floral smoke this summer! Greetings from Bulgaria- ЕU!

  • There’s something magnetic about the idea of a floral that’s been through something — not fresh and dewy, but worn, weathered, changed. I’ve always felt a bit disconnected from typical floral perfumes because they often feel too innocent or idealized. But this one sounds like it carries a story — maybe even scars. Tuberose and narcissus can be so intense, almost confrontational, especially when paired with smoke and myrrh. That combination suggests a perfume that doesn’t ask for approval, it just is. And somehow, that makes it feel more human. The thought of a scent that smells like confidence built from experience, not arrogance, is really compelling.

The juxtaposition here is what really fascinates me. Violet leaf and orange blossom give the impression of something airy and familiar, but then it veers into narcissus and smoky tuberose territory — which immediately adds tension. It’s like a floral that refuses to stay soft, one that’s been pulled into shadow and came back different. The presence of sandalwood and vetiver suggests a grounded, almost meditative base, which makes me imagine this perfume unfolding slowly, drawing you in layer by layer. There’s something deeply intimate in that kind of progression. It sounds like the kind of scent that evolves with your day, or even with your mood.

This perfume feels like it exists in a world all its own — not quite romantic, not quite mysterious, but somewhere in between. The idea of a floral that doesn’t smile for the crowd, that isn’t trying to be immediately likable, really resonates. Some of the most beautiful things in life don’t reveal themselves at first glance, and it sounds like this scent captures that. The combination of pepper, narcissus, and woods sounds like it’s got real depth, the kind that isn’t afraid to challenge the wearer a little. I love the thought of a fragrance that’s not just a mood enhancer, but a mirror. One that invites reflection rather than performance.

What’s striking is how this doesn’t seem to belong to any familiar category. It’s floral, but not soft. Smoky, but not masculine. There’s a balance here that seems rare — complexity without chaos, moodiness without cliché. I imagine it as a kind of soft armor — protective, sensual, a little secretive. The tuberose described as “fleshy” makes me think of something very alive and bodily, while the smoke and woods give it structure and solemnity. I’m drawn to perfumes that feel ambiguous and difficult to pin down, and this one sounds like it occupies that space in the best possible way.

Thanks for the fantastic writeup and to the introduction to Olfactive O! Never tried anything from this house, but I would love to start my exploration journey with this fantastic floral fragrance! Narcissus is one of my favorite flowers, and I love to try any fragrance that features it. What strikes me most about Floral Smoke, based on Oli’s review, is the description of a a bruised floral! A very different floral fragrance that is smoky, a bit daring and also alluring! The blend of narcissus, tuberose, powered violets with the notes of myrrh, black pepper and sandalwood creating a whispering cloud of a seductive bouquet! Hope to discover this captivating scent soon!
Thank you for the intro to this house. I’m located in Germany, and many thanks for this generous giveaway!

I am really fascinated by the notes of Tuberose, Black Pepper, Violet leaf, Myrhh, Sandalwood, Cedarwood and Vetiver. I am in love with the smoky floral and woody spine. Thanks a million from the UK

  • Oli’s review sparked my interest in its description of an unusual take on a floral scent, with florals that have some experience and have been through a few of life’s ups and downs – as have we all – and are still standing to tell the tale. Usually I think of floral fragrances as having aspects like fresh, or creamy, or heady, or formal. But Floral Smoke’s rendition of florals that are nonchalant and jaded, “a survivor,” sounds intriguing! I am in USA.

Really like the Olfactive O fragrances I’ve smelled so far. They are so lovely to wear and so reasonably priced. Gourmand is a stand out and I’m looking forward smelling floral smoke. I love narcissus and the fleshly tuberose as mentioned by Oli sounds fantastic. Marit the Netherlands

  • Love to see a “dirty” floral fragrance particularly in hotter summer weather, Floral Smoke has several white florals I usually associate with feminine spring time scents. The emphasis on the rich woods with the smoke element seems to give that bad girl vibe. MD, USA

  • I’ve been on a myrrh kick and I always look out for narcissus. I am always game for anything violet. This sounds beautiful. I don’t have anything from this house so I’m very curious. I am in the U.S. thank You for the giveaway.

  • Regardless of my personality, I have many types of scents that I enjoy and based on my mood, what will I do that day, the season we’re in, I might steer to something fresh or woody, or leathery etc. But I see how their approach might interest others.
Despite what I have said above, it does not mean that I don’t want to test their scents, because I do. I am curious of many new perfumes and what picks my interest here is the name at fist, because I like the name, I like flowers and smoke. Reading the description and the notes, it does sound like it would be right up my alley.

I found Oli’s review to be helpful to understanding this fragrance. I’d like to try it. I’m interested to see what the combination of florals narcissus and tuberose are like with the myrrh. I like to hear that it has heft, and I like to hear that it’s “doing something that’s genuinely quite interesting, vivid and multi-layered.” I live in the USA.

  • I’m curious about the titular smoke in Floral Smoke, which Oli pointed out shows up as whispers in the “rich woody spine”. That accord sounds wonderful playing off some pepper-tinged tuberose and narcissus. Really interesting floral.

    I’m in the USA.

  • uloveebonye says:

What sparks my interest here is that Oli said it “revels instead in the contemplative density of narcissus”, and honestly, I would love to smell that! It sounds bold. With that, I always love sandalwood and cedarwood. This fragrance sounds like it smells very interesting and I would love to see which day I would decide to pull this one out. I am located in the US.

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

WOW! Tuberose and narcissus! It is a must to be mine! I think I’ve said at least 1000 times that I love tuberose! I also like narcissus and I think there’s something spectacular about them together! I am from EU

  • Thank you for the lovely review and for this introduction to this brand – I love the idea of tailoring your fragrance to your personality. I am especially intrigued by the description of Floral Smoke as a bruised floral, a survivor. I really want to try this one, as I love most of the notes, like violet leaf, tuberose, narcissus and need to see how it plays on the skin.
    Greetings from EU.

  • I’m truly intrigued by Floral Smoke — the contrast between softness and smoldering mystery feels magnetic. The idea of a floral fragrance cloaked in darkness, with smoky nuances and a secret perfumer behind it, only adds to its allure. I’d love the chance to experience this seductive duality firsthand.
    I’m based in Europe, Romania.

  • This is an easy intrigue for me, as narcissus and tuberose have both been spring fixations for me, now two of my most beloved floral notes; similarly, I’m coming to realize myrrh is my preferred resin! I seek out florals that are complex, left-field, defiant of clear-cut categories, often sultry, maybe a bit darker… from Oli’s description, this sounds like it would tick all my boxes!

I’m US-based. Grateful as always for ÇFB and the perfumers’ generosity!

  • As always, it is fascinating to get such insight into the creative process and reasoning of perfume brands. Scents, and the atmosphere they evoke, are clearly linked to emotions and character so the very personal approach of Olfactive O makes sense to me.

As for Floral Smoke itself, I find intriguing the concept of a floral that has undergone trials and tribulations. Reading about it, it seems to have an atmosphere of rugged delicateness I would love to experience.

    Greetings from the EU (France).

Thanks for the lovely writeup Oli.

Really interesting fragrance. I like the name of this fragrance and it reminds me of a waxy floral chypre of old. The smoky facet is really neat (wonder if it’s the vetiver?)
