NEW FRAGRANCE: HOUSE OF CARON SECRET OUD

Secret Oud, a new Woody Oriental fragrance by the House of Caron will debut worldwide March 2010.

As an homage to the finest essences of the East, Richard Fraysse, the Creative Nose  for the House of Caron juxtaposed two  precious ingredients–SAFFRON, a spice also called ‘yellow gold’ and the famous OUD, known as ‘Wood of the Gods’. Fraysee chose the addition of Damask Rose (for its luxuriant sweetness) and Rose Absolute to enhance the composition.

Notes: OUD WOOD, Atlas CEDARWOOD, SAFFRON MUSK, JATAMANSI, JASMINE, DAMASK ROSE ABSOLUTE, Grey-haired ROCKROSE*, AMBER

*Rockrose: a small shrub growing in the Jatamansi: a small plant native to the Himalayas, whose Mediterranean basin animal notes recall certain aspects of Oud Wood

  • Now that makes me extremely curious ! I am deeply into evaluating Caron, as I just found a set of 8 extraits, vintage, from the 60ies and I indulge every moment . THIS one makes me wonder… as I adore Saffron in kitchen and scent. I am not so really really into Oud – for me it seems to be a fashion rather then something I like. Thank you for blogging about this !!

Why were these ever "marketed" if they are not truly being "marketed"?
I find Caron one of the most difficult houses for fragrance afficionados like myself to get all hot and bothered about.
    Sigh…
