New Fragrance: Atelier Cologne Pomélo Paradis (2015) + Do Not Beware the Ides of March Draw

Perfumer Jerome Epinette with Atelier Cologne Co Founder and Creative Director Sylvie Ganter 2010

March 15th is not a day to "beware the Ides of March".  Rather it is a day to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Atelier Cologne, the first Maison de Parfum dedicated entirely to Cologne, the legendary fragrance classic. Creative Directors Sylvie Ganter and Christophe Cervasel gave birth to a new olfactive family”,Cologne Absolue” and revived a genre for the contemporary  21st century market,  using an unprecedented  15-20 percent Concentree. Other fragrance houses would follow the model they set, but none devoted their entire vision to creating colognes using unusual and rare ingredients. The launch is etched in my memory as I stood next to Sylvie and perfumer Jerome Epinette at the Bergdorf Goodman Counter as they introduced what would soon become a worldwide brand. In honor of this achievement, the company is launching Pomélo Paradis.

.Pomélo Paradis completes the Collection Originale, now numbering seven (Trefle Pur, Orange Sanguine, Grand Neroli, Bois Blonds, Oolang Infini and this year’s Cedrat Enivrant) all which were designed primarily around citrus notes, the traditional ingredients of a cologne. Pomélo Paradis marks the inevitable encounter between a man and a woman always destined to be together.Perhaps the founders own story?

“Was he a fool to drive all night just for a chance to see her? Perhaps it was adrenaline and the lack of sleep, but as he pictured moments they had been together, the word destiny stuck in his mind. The coral sunrise burned bright and he drove faster. There was no choice but to see her again.”

Top notes: pink pomelo from Florida, mandarin from Calabria, blackcurrant bud from Burgundy

Heart notes: Moroccan orange blossom Bulgarian rose essence mint from China

Base notes: vetiver from Haiti iris from Tuscany, amber
