Memo Paris Moroccan Leather Review + Journey to Marrakesh Draw

In our Creative Directors in Perfumery Series, Clara Molloy who founded Memo Paris Fragrances wrote “The name of the brand, Memo, comes from Memory. Olfaction is our most archaic sense. One of the first we explore as human beings. It’s link to our sensations of space and time and I believe, is something that has not been totally discovered by scientists. Perfumes have a strong connection to your soul, to your inner self… A fragrance can reveal you, transform you, it is far more powerful than people usually think”.  Mme. Molloy works in collaboration with perfumer Alienor Massenet and has since the brand’s inception in 2006. There are five fragrances in the series Cuir Nomades, which was introduced in 2013, each evoking leathers inspired by travel and placeIrish Leather was the first, homage to Mme. Malloy’s husband and business partner John Molloy, who was born in Ireland. Memo Paris Moroccan Leather is the latest and the sixth in the series, just released for 2018.

Galbanum is a key ingredient in this composition; it was first used most likely by the ancients for green incense in the Middle East, but has been a linchpin note in modern, classic perfumery since the 1930s. Galbanum was an ingredient that fascinated Jacques Guerlain and is a key to the green accords used in Guerlain’s Vol de Nuit and Sous Le Vent in 1932. When used by a master perfumer it can add a punch to leather fragrances without overpowering the composition.

This one sounds fantastic! I love Italian Leather and African Leather by Memo Paris, so I’d love to sniff this one. I loved Sebastian’s YouTube review because, as usual, he was straight to the point, descriptive, and informative. Alabama, USA

  • Suzansabdallah says:

I have never tried any leather perfume, and would love to try this one. I trust and love all Sebastian’s reviews and have bought so many perfumes based on his recommendations. I am also north African and the name Moroccan leather draws a certain picture in my head. I’m seeing a Moroccan nomad travelling selling dry herbs and flowers which he carries in leather tote.

  • I haven’t tried this one, nor African Leather, but I have heard wonderful things. I would love to try it! I’m a big fan of Sebastian’s reviews, I find our tastes usually are in sync.

  • Troy Bornman says:

i trust Sebastian’s reviews and his knowledge of the notes and how they work together. I’ve not smelled any Memo fragrances but have found lately that I do like leather in fragrances. Indiana, USA

  • I love leather and mandarin! The addition of vetiver is really intriguing. Great review Sebastian. Thank you sir.

  • I’m a big fan of both African and Italian leather from this house. I would love to get my nose on this one too. I appreciate leather fragrances with green notes and like that Sebastian mentions the green notes in this one most likely coming from the galbanum

  • I just discovered Memo Paris about 2 months ago and really love Italian Leather (Irish Leather is a close second). The dry down is amazing, and longevity is at least 12+ hours for me. I will typically spray once and still notice the sweet benzoin and vanilla skin scent at the gym after work. The quality of this line is incredible – sophisticated and beautifully designed bottles. I really love galbanum, so Sebastian’s mention of it really caught my attention! I can’t wait to add this to my line up.

  • I have yet to make the PDM jump yet. Do you feel this would be the one to try first/or? Not sure about the Cinnamon though. Great review as always. I would like to try it. Thanks Sebastian..

  • I enjoy Sebastian’s knowledge on Memo’s whole Leather line. I want to win because I love leather fragrances, yet I’ve never tried one from Memo Paris. In fact, I’ve never tried any of their fragrances. I do like the note of galbanum, it’s used quite nicely in Creed’s Silver Mountain Water. Cheers from Indiana, USA.

I seen the review and thought wow. sounds great. hope to win cant wait to try it. from montana

  • Rodney Wallace says:

I am a huge fan of leather based fragrances. I loved the break down of the notes. Sebastian is always great! Thanks for the opportunity. North Carolina, USA.

  • I love leather and am interested in incense. I love sebastian’s videos because he has so many interesting fragrances and such great taste. He is friendly and genuine too. I dont have a prominent leather fragrances and would love to win. Mississippi usa

  • Just Add Light says:

African and Russian Leather are the two beasts from this line, but I’m really interested to smell this one. Sebastian mentioned that it has the green galbanum note from Irish Leather and there’s nothing in my current collection that pairs leather and greenness in the same way. And since he and I are both big iris lovers, that pretty much sealed the deal. Never been to Morocco, but it’s always nice to take a journey with Sebastian once in a while. NC, USA.

  • Great review as always from Sebastian. This one sounds interesting and i would love to win and test it since i dont own many leather based fragrances and also cause i’ve never tried any Memo fragrance. Thanks for the chance, Oakland US.

  • As a Moroccan myself I would love to try this fragrance, Sebastian did a great job describing what it smells like.

  • I just saw the Memo line last week at a boutique and I only got to sniff a few. I am curious about Marfa but I love leather and green notes, so Moroccan Leather would be the one for me. I enjoy Sebastians’ reviews because he is so complete in his descriptions and I get a sense of what the fragrance really smells like.

  • I loved the way Sebastian was so enthusiastic about this fragrance and all the fragrances in this line. I would love to win as I am a big fan of galbanum in fragrance. My favorite galbanum fragrance is Chanel No 19 parfum. I have a 90s vintage version of the parfum that I use sparingly. I also have a more modern version of the EDT that I use frequently. I also like leather in fragrance and would be interested to smell the galbanum mixed with the leather notes in Morrrocan Leather. I recently sampled Marfa Spices at Neiman Marcus and it is currently on my wish list…saving up my pennies LOL

, why you would love to win: I want to try more Memo fragrances and love leather
, if you have a favorite Memo Paris fragrance or like galbanum as a note: my fave Memo is Shams Oud

  • fazalcheema says:

This is the first time i have learned where the name Memo came from. Moroccan Leather has similarities to Italian and Irish Leather according to sebastian and galbanum plays a major role in it. Other prominent note is vetiver. This does seem like a nod to the classic green fragrances. Thanks for draw. My fav. Memo is African leather. I am in US

  • I’ve yet to try a Memo. They all sound wonderful and Sebastian has the knack of describing a scent with excellent detail. If he likes it I know it must be well constructed and of very high quality. Would love the chance to try Moroccon. The notes are right up my alley.

  • Moroccan Leather sounds interesting. I enjoy a green note in fragrances, and would love to try this new release. I like that Sebastian thinks that it’s unisex. USA

  • Great in-depth review by Sebastian, his description of the galbanium and vetiver combination sounds very intriguing. So far I have only tried Eau de Memo and hands down that is one of the top five scents I have experienced to date. High hopes for this leather scent given Memo’s quality track record. I would be thrilled to have a chance to be chosen in your generous giveaway. All the best from Boston USA.

  • This one sounds great. Still haven’t got a chance to try a Memo Paris fragrance. Great review by Sebastian like always. Would like to check this out. Thanks California

  • doowtnehpets says:

I always enjoy Sebastian’s descriptions in his videos. He has good taste. I’d like to win cause I need a good leather fragrance. Only one from Memo I’ve smelled is Marfa, which is all tuberose, but smells good. Galbanum is good as long as it’s not too overwhelming.

  • Another great video by Sebastian! I always enjoy his descriptions and his breadth of knowledge. I loved Irish and Russian Leather! This one sounds absolutely amazing. I am a huge fan of the galbanum in Soul les Vent, so I know I will love this fragrance. Thanks for the giveaway and I live in the US! 🙂

  • I loved the review to see the beautiful bottle, hear his description of the fragrance and catch his enthusiasm! I would love to win because Having such a treasure would make me and those I share with so happy. I live in a small town far from places to go fragrance smelling.i am new to learning all the notes and how they smell, and who all of the creators are; just trying samples from Lucky Scent through the mail so far. Thanks for offering a chance at a bottle!

  • I found out of this house a few weeks ago through Sebastian review and ordered the discovery kit from lucky scent however it is back order and still waiting for samples to arrive. I love galbanum, patchouli and Iris as a note. Sebastian review sounds great and would love to win.

  • I enjoyed Sebastian’s review and I love how excited he was about the Galbanum note in this fragrance, it made me really want to try this fragrance! I live in the USA and I am very intrigued by this fragrance!

  • Sebastian always gives great details about any perfume he reviews. The notes especially the prominent ones are always described in details. I don’t have any favorite memo Paris perfumes. I’ll love to win because the bottle is beautiful and the review helped.
    I live in California.

  • Always love Sebastian’s reviews. I enjoyed how enthusiastic he was about the galbanum note. The citrusy green beginning description from his review was really what hooked me. I’d love to try this fragrance and haven’t tried anything yet from the memo Paris line. I live in the USA.

  • Can’t help desiring this one after watching and listening to the video review. I envision this leather wearing quite well through winter. US

  • m.r.everything says:

Let me start by saying thank you for this very generous and amazing opportunity! Sebastian never ceases to amaze me when he is describing fragrances. Him and I seem to be on the same page when it comes to fragrances. I like most of the fragrances he does, so when he starts to review a fragrance, I know I am probably going to be spending money. Haha. I just received a sample of this about a week or so ago from Luckyscent and I can’t be happier with it. Memo is a brand which I really admire… Their scents are so beautifully crafted and literally make me smile very time I wear them. My favorite, and the first I purchased, is Irish Leather. Before Sebastian mentioned it in the video, all I could think about was how close these two smelled, to me anyway. Irish Leather is my favorite thus far (with African Leather at a very close second), but Moroccan Leather may just push African Leather out of that spot. Great review, as usual, and I can’t wait for the next one! I live in Delaware, US. Thanks again and take care for now!

  • I like how Sebastian pin points eneruthing about the fragrance from the notes to the price, I really love to win this because I’m a leather note liver and I have Irish leather from this collection and I love it!! So I hope I will get this full bottle! Thank you
    California USA

  • I adore Sebastian! Absolutely love his reviews. He makes me want to buy everything he likes!
I love leather fragrances, especially for Fall. I’ve never tried anything from Memo Paris. I don’t think I know what Galbanum resin smells like. I don’t think I own anything that has that note in it.
    I live in the USA.

  • Gabriel Garcia says:

    Great review spotlight Sebastian.
I’ve only tried Italian leather, and I tought that it had the Avant components that I like personally.
I guess I like the striking idea of the beautiful and gentle memo house
    Which is named after memories.
    Las Vegas NV

  • Great review!!! Thank you Sebastian for beautiful review.
I was surprised, when listen from Sebadtian review, that this new Mrmo have similarites with my two favorite Moemo- Irish and Italian Learther!!
I guess I will fall in love with Maroccan Leather.
    US

  • What I enjoyed specifically about Sebastian’s YouTube review of Moroccan Leather is how he was able to connect it to some other leather fragrances by MP. I’d love to win because I only have one leather fragrance and I need another – I really love the note! Arkansas, USA

  • Ivan.napoleon says:

Love the notes and presentation. African leather my fav. Id love to try this one Great review as usual Miami Florida Thanks

  • Thank you Sebastian for the review. Very informative as usual. I have not yet smelled any in this line. Not so sure I have smelled a green leather either. Sounds interesting. I’m used to more of a dark leather fragrance. I am quite intrigued.
    Fort Lauderdale, Fl

  • Sebastian always great!! I enjoyed this video-review! Thanks!
I want to win because I love leather fragrances very much.
I could not say I am fun of galbanum, or I hate it, but i hope with galbanum’s ‘green-resin” smell and accompany with vetiver, musk and leather- this perfume will amazing.
From Memo i like Italian Leather and Kedu.
    USA

  • Heard great things about this house but never had the opportunity to try any of them. Like the notes in this. From NY

  • Tested Memo in the Heathrow airport. I had not heard of the before. I enjoyed so many of the fragrances, I could not decide. This leathery one sounds amazing. Thank you Sebastian for the great review. I live in the US.

  • This one sounds interesting. Solid review Sebastian. I haven’t tried anything from Memo Paris just yet…I still have Tiger’s Nest on a short list of fragrances I want to sample before the end of this year. The intro to the written review reminds me of the one that was done for Nir Guy’s Grange. How his scent memory of a forest he grew up on influenced his Oriental Woody. I can’t wait to give this one a try. Thanks for throwing this giveaway. Cheers from CT.

Also, favorite galbanum= Tom Ford’s Vert de Fleur

  • Sebastain is always spot on in his description of notes and how they work together. I’ve never tried any of the Memo fragrances. Galbanum is a wonderful note in many fragrances. Thanks for the draw. I’m in the US

  • skippy.gordon says:

I’ve just started trying leather fragrances. Sebastain has a great nose and has not let me down yet. I would love to get my hands on a bottle of this. The winter is getting close and i would love to wear this in the Arizona mountains up north (i live in Phoenix, Az USA)….

  • What I thought was cool about the review was how the different notes paired with leather gives each of the leather fragrances in the line a different, but green, note. I’d like to win this because of the galbanum and iris paired with the leather, which should smell great. Kind of like a 60’s or 70’s floral meets a leather scent.
I love galbanum. It’s very noticeable in Grey Flannel, which is one of my fav fragrances. I dont have any memo scents.

Im in the US. thanks for the draw

  • I love Morocco but visiting the tanneries there was not a pleasant olfactory experience! I am curious as to what a perfume version of Moroccan leather would be. Interesting that Sebastian mentions Galbanum since that’s not a note I would associate with leather. The bottle is beautiful. I live in the US.

  • Sebastian is a top notch reviewer – no doubt about it.Nice job as usual.
Iris , vetiver ,galbanum and high quality leather in the base – sounds like a fantastic colder weather fragrance.
My husband owns French Leather by Memo , and now i’m using it from time to time,so you could say i own it hah. I’ve never smelled anything else from Memo , but i own and love Jazz Club -one of Alienor Massenet creations. 100% unisex – not sure why it’s marketed for men only.
Tnx for the giveaway and Sebastian for the review.
    Cheers from VA

  • Thank you Europerfumes and Cafleurebon for this draw , and Sebastian for his review !
Interesting fragrance should be this Moroccan Leather … especially when it’s made by Alienor Massenet. She’s pretty famous with her balsamic and woody fragrances , and also she utilizes quite often boozie/alcoholic beverage notes in her fragrances.Own 5 full bottle fragrances made by her …
I do like green , balsamic semi-sweet fragrances (tonka, iris, amber) , but i’m super curious how well she implemented the galbanum note….Sometimes galganum could be a bit old-school – Yatagan by Caron + Grey Flannel, or too femine …
From Memo Paris i do own full bottle of Granada , and i had 75ml of African Leather , but used the last sprays mid march.
There are 2 galbanum fragrances i own and really love – Macaque by Zoologist Perfumes and a nice cheapie Roma Uomo by Laura Biagiotti.
    I do follow all of you on IG @cafleurebon , @lookfeelsmellgreat , @Offical_ europerfumes and @memo.paris + @alienormassenet too.

  • I have 2 from this house. Italian and African leather. Favorite so far is Italian eventhough African gets me lots of compliments. Vivid description from Sebastian here. Great job. Would love to win this one. Count me in
