Mancera Cedrat Boise (Pierre Mancera)~ Fragrance Review + Smooth Operator Draw

via tumblr apped by M.C.

The House of Mancera‘s perfumes are created by the founder of the company, Pierre Mancera, from quality raw ingredients and bottled in art deco flacons. Many of the scents are distinctively “Eastern” in feel and  the company is known by many for their use of oud; the surprise is just how many “western” leaning fragrances are in the range.  A perfumista favorite is Mancera Cedrat Boise (2011) which combines two popular classifications in fragrance: citrus and woody. Cedrat is a type of citrus known as a citron and Boise (pronounced bwhaz) means wood or woody. No “cedrat”, i.e. citron is listed in the notes, but a crisp lemon and a burst of bergamot recreate it beautifully.  Lest you think this is yet another citrus-woody-aromatic, Mancera Cedrat Boise differs with its warmth; hints of spices, fruit and moss take this fragrance from bright and bold to woody and rich. But it’s the smooth operators- the sandalwood and a tease of vanilla that differentiates Mancera Cedrat Boise. Sr. Contributor Sebastian Jara of the YouTube Channel Smelling Great, and founder of a popular Facebook Group, takes a deeper dive with his in-depth review of Mancera Cedrat Boise Michelyn Camen, Editor in Chief

I’m baaacck!!!! And man, what a great one to come back to. I’ve sampled Cedar Boise and really really loved the scent. Sebastian’s review was spot on too. Frankly, I’m actually surprised that he never covered this one before, considering the fact that he likes fruiter versions of ” that other popular fragrance*. I really enjoyed watching his take on this because he almost seemed giddy at the fact that he finally owns a bottle! As far as a FAVORITE Mancera, I currently don’t have the pleasure of owning any at the moment, but I enjoy so so many and really look forward to the release of Hindu Kush because it sounds SO SO unique! I live in PA. Thank you for the opportunity!

  • redwolf75 says:

Sabastian did a great review on this fragrance. I like how he went into detail about how fruity this fragrance is. I would love to get my hands on this one. Stay blessed!

  • I keep hearing about this fragrance and REALLY want to get my nose on it. I really enjoyed Sebastian’s take and find it funny that he didn’t mention the fragrance that everyone says this is like. I’ve never tried this house but it was a great review! – Arkansas

  • coryville says:

I have heard many great things about this fragrance, and with Sebastian giving his thumbs up, I need to experience it even more. I have yet to try anything from Mancera, but will be very soon!

  • Great review. I have had the opportunity to sample Cedrat Boise and it’s amazing. I was surprised by the hint of leather. Would love to own a bottle. I’m in Idaho, USA. Thanks for the opportunity.

  • Always enjoy Sebastians videos due to his easy going style of explaining fragrances. Never smelled cedrat boise. But I know what other fragrance he’s comparing it to. Actually, sounds like cedrat has more character to it.
Crossing my fingers to win! U.S.A.

  • calvarez87 says:

Great review as always. My favorite Mancera is a tie between Aoud Lemon Mint and So Blue. I would love to be able to experience this fragrance and think it would go very well with the hot summers of Florida.

  • Sunni Suleiman says:

Love this stuff, Aventus Fruity Batch Killer! Works in almost EVERY occasion spring/summer/fall. I live on the west coast & this stuff flourishes in this air!

  • Enjoyed the review by Sebastian on Cedrat Boisé. He really enjoys this scent. I’ve sampled this before and love the scent. Would love to own a bottle. A nice sweet citrus with creamy woods. Thanks for the giveaway
    California

  • Amy Leonhardt says:

I have never tried any Manceras. I was surprised to hear Sebastian describe this as “cozy.” Would love to try it. CA

  • Jake smith says:

This fragrance is a masterpiece! I absolutely love it very citric fruity cream and woody. My friend gave me a 5ml decant a few months ago and I ran through it in about 2 weeks and I got so much positive attention from it. Sebastian’s review was spot on and I think he was smart not to mention aventus because people need to stop comparing everything to it it just takes away from the beauty of other fragrances. The first time I did try this one the opening reminded me of aventus for about 2 minutes but after that I struggled to see much of a resemblance it is very different and In some ways better. I hope to get a bottle at some point! I really want to try other mancera fragrances I hear there is a mango one which is one of my favorite foods and notes and I also want to try roses and chocolate.

  • Tom Schroeder says:

Thanks for this review! I like how Sebastian breaks down the fragrance notes and what stands out for him. I have a decant and wore it while on a trip, and like the fruity/woody combination with sandalwood and leather in the background. Fresh yet substantial. Easily worn casual or in an office environment, and good year round. I am in the USA and of course like and follow Cafleurebon on Facebook.

  • I should have gotten this a long time ago. Sebastian keeps giving the best details of each fragrance he reviews. I am hoping to get more Mancera frags in the future. I am Marlon from Houston Texas..

  • David Smith says:

Sebastian is probably like the Yoda of fragrance reviews, his knowledge and taste for Indy, Niche, and designer fragrances are best and line up with my taste.. If he loves this one more than the “OTHER” fragrance everybody affiliate this one with then I’m sure i will too. Never smelled and would love a free bottle. Who wouldn’t lol

  • Im always impressed with Sebastians in depth reviews. As soon as he said it was a cozy fragrance that relaxed you I was sold on it. Thank you for the giveaway, I’m in the United States, New York.

  • Andie Paige says:

I have sampled this one. Sebastian did a fine review! I love the versatility of this fragrance, you are not going to offend.

  • Patrick Echevarria says:

Love this one from Mancera. Sebastian is spot on! It’s a a woody citrus aromatic often compared to a very popular fragrance but actually only shares only a few similaries and is a fragrance of its own that garners compliments. San Diego

  • Southernboy says:

Got a sample of this fragrance will say this review was right on point with Sebastian. Cannot add any more to it. I got more of the woody notes on me I hope to win a full bottle of this fragrance. Thank for a great review, enjoyed it. Live in North Carolina US

  • I’m intrigued by the addition of vanilla to the lemon/cedar combo. I read somewhere that Americans love D&G Light Blue because we associate both lemon and cedar with being clean!

  • Just Add Light says:

Super stoked to finally get Sebastian’s take. Very much agree that it doesn’t smell exactly like “he who must not be named”, yet has its own appealing character. Definitely enjoyed the “CREAMY” and “cozy” descriptions, which is precisely how I would describe it, thanks in part to the vanilla in the base! Unfortunately, it seems that nobody has got the pronounciation down… Since there is no acute “e” at the end of boise, it’s pronounced “buaz”, not “buazay”. A minor, though pervasive oversight. Favourite from Mancera has to be Red Tobacco and Black to Black (for the evenings), but this one comes in a close 3rd. Also following on Instagram! North Carolina.

  • I respect Sebastian as an expierienced reviewer. I like that he described this scent as a cozy citrus woody fragrance. I have never tried this house before so I woud finally love to by winning the price Thabk you for a giveaway!

  • I haven’t tried any of Mancera’s fragrances before, but from this review, this fragrance sounds perfect for office wear. Great review as always sebastian!

  • Very nice fragrance for summer and spring for sure… almost like it’s the younger… more casual little brother of that one fragrance

  • newyork318 says:

Sebastian’s description and reading the notes makes me think I’d really like this, but the comparison to the other popular fragrance gives me pause! So now I have to try it to find out! Haven’t yet tried any other Mancera, but recently got Montale Aoud discovery set. Seems like these brands have some powerful offerings.

  • His review was spot on. It’s ond of my few 10 out of 10 fragrances. CB or Lemon Line are my favorite from this house!!

  • Thanks for the opportunity to sniff ♡☆♡ this creamy take on a woody citrus fragrance. Sebastian’s review was very insightful. I’m in the USA.

  • I keep hearing a lot of great things about this fragrances. I’ll have to try ut to see if it lives up to the hype.

  • fazalcheema says:

I am surprised Sebastian acquired bottle late because I was sure he has had it for a long time. Sebastian touches upon the potential similarities to Aventus. I did not expect it to have leather touches. my fav. Mancera is Red Tobacco. I am in US

  • I would love to try this one as I live in hot south Florida. Great review as always.

  • samjones79 says:

I’ve been looking online at Cedrat Boise and was pleased to see Sebastian do a review on it. He covered the fragrance very well and left me wanting to try it!

  • NiceVULady says:

I really enjoyed Sebastian’s review. I have liked Cafleurebon on Facebook. This fragrance sounds like it was made for the summer and warm weather. I look forward to trying it. Thanks for the draw. I’m in the USA

  • I have been trying to get my nose on Cedrat Boise for a while because of all the hype that it has generated in the fragrance community. I have seen many reviews about it on YouTube, but I particularly liked Sebastian’s review because he goes into a lot of details about the fragrance. After his review, I now want to try it even more. I would love to win the giveaway so that I could finally have this one in my collection. Regards from Washington State.

  • Lori Laws says:

Sebastian’s review was very informative and I am glad to have watched. I have always wondered about Cedrat Boise and I am happy to know that the citrus notes aren’t overpowering. I have tried Wild Rose Oud in Mancera’s line and loved it. I follow you both on Facebook and Instagram. Thanks for the opportunity and I live in the US. 🙂

  • pianomanmiller says:

This sounds amazing and He always does such an amazing job of discribing the fragrance. I’ve never tried anything from this house but looking forward to it.

  • Kamil1987 says:

I have never had a chance to test Mancera Cedrat Boise, but given very positive reviews of Sebastian and others in fragrance community I would love to win a bottle for upcoming Summer. I live in MA.

  • Following you on Facebook and Instagram. Sebastian has the best balanced reviews for fragrance on YouTube. Not to long not to short, packed full of informative information. Mancera Cedrat Boise sounds spectacular start to finish. I was lucky enough to get to try their Aoud Black Candy. Thanks for the review Sebastian!

  • Have heard a lot about this fragrance and the comparisons to aventus. Definitely want to try this.

  • FredTieMq3 says:

Wow I really think Sebastian really made bois cedrat sound super cool. I have Mancera Aoud vanille which is really great. I like vanilla frags so would want to win this with the vanilla base
    I like Cafleurbon on Facebook

  • vittorapizza says:

I am eager to try this fragrance. Sounds amazing for this Miami weather. Thank you in advance.

  • Fusiongel says:

Interesting Review. I sampled this fragrance a while ago and really enjoyed the fruity opening. I can understand the comparisons to Aventus, but this one is definitely its own fragrance. My favorite Mancera Aoud Lemon Mint. Thanks for the chance to win this fragrance. Cheers from CT.

  • James2473 says:

Great review, Sebastian! I loved your description of Cedrat Boise, and thought it was humorous that you didn’t say the name of the extremely popular fragrance that it gets compared to. From the few Mancera fragrances I’ve sampled, my favorite so far is Holidays.

  • awilli9295 says:

I haven’t tried this one yet, but the all of the other Manceras I’ve tried have been awesome. I look forward to following y’all on Facebook and Instagram

  • i loved how he described the fragrance, it makes me want to try it sooo bad… I hope i win this one!

  • Great review as always, dear Sebastian.
I have had the opportunity to sample Cedrat Boise and I like it.
I think this perfume is like “Aventus Sport”.
    USA

  • Thanks for the giveaway and the opportunity to wear a much lauded fragrance that has really become so popular and extremely fast. While I have never tried this fragrance, the notes sound lovely and I look forward to trying it very soon.

Sebastian always does a lovely job of not only describing a fragrance, he seems to capture the spirit and essence of it. This is a gift. Nicely done, as usual.

    Cheers and thanks again!

    Jack

  • Wolframii says:

This would be nice to try because it had many similarities like Aventus, but without the harsh nature from the dry down.

  • Here in California. Never tried nor knowingly smelled any thing from Manners and never smelled Aventus. Therefore when I do get my nose on Cedrat Boise it will stand on its own. What interest me in the citrus- lemony notes and the vanilla. I’m imagining a vanilla scone with lemon icing.

  • Would love this for summer. “Woody lemon” sounds great. I haven’t tried this one yet but have enjoyed several from Mancera. USA

  • Eric Sanchez says:

This was a great review by Sebastian. I have tried this fragrance from Mancera & I love it. I followed CaFleureBon on both Facebook & Instagram

  • Bernie777 says:

I love this stuff. I had hungered for it for a while and got a decant. Wow. I went to my favorite fragrance re sellers and bang it went missing. The ones I can find are very expensive. It does not smell like Aventus to me (I have tried them both). This is a masterpiece. Not overbearing but definitely there. It lasts quite awhile on my skin. Sebastian’s always on point with the scent descriptions and when he is exited about a fragrance it really shows.

  • I like Sebastian’s review of Cedrat Boise. I tried it a couple of times n I like it. It’s a fresh woody scent, very versatile n well received by people around you. Hopefully I can win this giveaway.
    Thanks guys.

  • sounds like a woody, smooth fragrance. I would love to try this. Great review. Thank you for the giveaway chance.

  • George Lellis says:

I do not have a bottle of this, but would like to try it. I liked how Sebastian compared it to other citrus fragrances. I don’t have a favorite Mancera fragrance.

  • m.r.everything says:

First off, let me thank you for the opportunity, as usual! You guys are so generous its not even funny! I have heard and read so many great things about Cedrat Boise. Comparing it to Aventus just gives me a sense of what it smells like. I like Aventus, and if it smells similar, then yea, i definitely want to try it. But, at the same time, this is a fragrance (from what I hear) that holds its own. It smells similar, but again, that is just a point of reference. I would really like to get to know Cedrat Boise for the scent that it is, and not what everyone compares it to. Mr. Sillage said it pretty well in his comment above… I love how Sebastian is almost overjoyed that he finally owns a bottle. I would feel the same way as I have been wanting this for so long. Not even knowing what it truly smells like, I want a bottle! The creaminess and fruitiness is what stands out most to me! This will be in my collection someday! Thanks again for this opportunity and thanks to Sebastian for sharing his take on this great fragrance! I live in Delaware! Good luck to all!

  • perfumelover67 says:

Great review by Sebastian. I had the opportunity to sample Cedrat Boise and I found it amazing for summer time. Sillage and longevity are exceptionally wonderfull. My favorite Mancera is Gold Incense. Thanks for the giveaway. I am in the US.

  • I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews because he has such a lovely way of reviewing perfumes. This fragrance sounds so clean and woody. I love bergamot (in the opening) and the dry down sounds so soothing with all the woody notes. I’ve never tried anything from Mancera, so I’d love to win this.
I follow all 3 of you on Facebook and Instagram.
    I live in the US.

  • jeremyn87 says:

I like that this sounds like a more unique take on Aventus, not just a clone.More creamy, fruity, and fresh. Actually sounds a lot better than the Creed.
I havesamples of Aoud Lemon Mint and Aoud Cafe. I think a couple of others, but I mix them up with Montale, so I forget which is which. I like them.
    I’m in the US

  • Ivan.napoleon says:

This is the best mancera for me. Love the notes and It lasts for ever.
    Sebastians as usual perfect.
    Miami-Florida

  • Gabriel Garcia says:

Mancera is a great house and Sebastian says that cedrat is a summer vacation in a bottle, it sounds like a good one.

  • abmillerhs says:

Been wanting this in my collection for a while, along with aoud lemon mint.

  • Sebastian is top reviewer never sparing any detail. His note descriptions are second to none. Haven’t had the opportunity to try any Mancera’s yet.

  • cocacarlo says:

I always enjoy how Sebastian describes the notes of the fragrance rather than just reading off the notes. It certainly adds to his credibility and is one of the many reasons why I subscribed to his channel. I do not have a favorite fragrance from Mancera. I am in California, USA.

  • necrotelicom says:

Following you on Facebook & Instagram now too –

I’m very interested in this – I usually lean towards the rich and oud-heavy fragrances (Mancera Aoud Cafe is a favorite of mine, as is Montale Honey Aoud) but it would be nice to have something a little lighter but still cozy for the summer.

Great reviews – I really enjoy Sebastian’s videos!

  • SOUNDS LIKE A REFRESHING SUMMER FRAGRANCE!!! I KNOW I WOULD ENJOY THIS WOODY FRUITY FRESH FRAGRANCE, I ALWAYS REACH FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENTS WHENEVER I WANT TO BE IN A HAPPY STATE OF MIND!
I HAVE NEVER COME ACROSS A MONTALE FRAGRANCE THAT I DID NOT LIKE, THEY JUST KNOW HOW TO CRAFT THEM BEAUTIFULLY!!! SEBASTIAN IS ONE OF THE MOST TRUSTED FRAGRANCE REVIEWERS OUT THERE AND HE REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF!! THANK YOU FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY !!
    USA BASED!

  • Chase Dickinson says:

Honestly, this was one of Sebastian’s best reviews I have seen. (And I think I have seen almost all of his). This was so thorough. I also actually really liked that he never named the “other fragrance” people compare Cedrat Boise to. I thought that was actually a very classy move by a classy guy! I have no experience with the house of Mancera, but man, I would love to! Thank you for the opportunity! Iowa, USA. (IG: @scentthusiast).

  • twiggy3634 says:

It’s not too common to see Sebastian gush over a fragrance like this so I’m wanting to get my nose on it. I “liked” cafleuebon’s FB page for updates. Cheers from Indiana, USA.

  • I really enjoy Sebastian’s reviews and didn’t realize he wrote for this site as well. I’m not familiar with Mancera and would love the opportunity to try.

  • I’ve not tried any Mancera fragrances but am sold by Sebastian’s review due to the creamy, woody, velvety smooth aspect of it that he noticed. I have liked on Facebook previously and am in the U.S.

  • Yes a smoother Aventus… Sebastian does it again! I have tried this great fragrance and it holds up! THANKS for the draw… I do live in the US

  • Bubeto_GG says:

Fruitier and smoother version of Aventus-count me in.I do like Aventus for men. Some girls can pull it off too-my sister in law is wearing it quite often.Great description by the best Youtube reviewer.
I do own 120ml of Choco Violet – a birthday gift form my brother.Absolutely love this one , but that’s the only Mancera fragrance i’ve smelled up until now.
