The holiday season has always been my favorite—a time when the chill in the air feels electric, the sky transforms into a canvas of scattered diamonds, and the world seems to hum with anticipation. But what truly captivates me is the scents of winter: the whisper of pine carried on frosty breezes, the soft curl of smoke from fireplaces, and the undeniable promise of magic yet to come.

I’m a dreamer, and this is my season to fully indulge in all the wonders it brings. M.Micallef perfectly captures that festive spirit with their limited-edition Il Était Une Nuit. From the moment I opened the package, I was entranced—the bottle itself is a masterpiece, cloaked in shimmering gold silk-screened artistry that feels like it belongs in a winter fairytale. This reimagined version of their 2002 fragrance Watch is richer, denser, and wrapped in a nostalgic warmth that evokes snow-covered villages, twinkling stars, and cozy gatherings. It’s a story in scent—a celebration of the heartwarming magic of reunions and the joy of shared traditions.

M.Micallef Il Était Une Nuit opens with the luscious sweetness of candied peaches and plums soaked in brandy, blended with the addictive creaminess of Bourbon vanilla. At its heart is tuberose—a bold, bubblegum-like floral that bursts with nostalgia, paired with a soft, cozy jasmine that feels like the gentle embrace of a snowy evening. The base is pure gourmand indulgence: golden drops of amber, a touch of holiday punch, and velvety vanilla that wraps you in a familiar, delicious hug.

Three of my favorite notes on one fragrance combined (vanilla, plum and amber). I wasn’t familiar with the 2002 version of this new limited edition but it’s perfect for the upcoming holiday season. Not only the notes, but the bottle itself agrees with the magic and wonders of Christmastime and being in a snowy mountain. Micallef always goes all out with their releases and this one is no exception. I imagine myself spritzing this fragrance by the fireplace on a snowy Christmas Eve or Day surrounded by family and loved ones. ‘Tis the season for Il Était Un Nuit. I’m located in the US.

Micallef because I never tried this house but I would certainly love to have the opportunity.

  • Shibuichi2000 says:

I miss the childhood winters – with big, fluffy, white snow blanket on the ground, with enchanted winter holiday nights, where I forced myself to not fall asleep, because I didn’t want to miss the fire warmth, its flames dancing on the walls…Olya reminded me of that.
If Il était une nuit brings back even a glimpse of that time, that’s already wonderful.
    I’m in EU.

  • Candied peaches and plums soaked in brandy, blended with the creaminess of Bourbon vanilla. Golden drops of amber and velvety vanilla is what definitely sparked my interest from Olya’s review and of course the beautiful bottle. I own Mon Parfum Pearl and have sampled Ylang in Gold and Desir Toxic. Thank you and happy holidays.✨️TX USA

  • Etait Une Nuit sounds like a luscious winter gourmand, The decadent fruit notes of candied peaches and brandy-soaked plums combined with tuberose and jasmine and finished with an amber vanilla base is a true winter enchantment. The fragrance sounds absolutely decadent. MD, USA.

  • A perfume that is a Narnia-like journey is a must have for the winter and Christmas time, perfect to go back to your childhood. The jasmine that reminds of a snowy evening must be magical.

  • This perfume sounds excactly like something my sister would adore. Would be nice to win a bottle for her for Christmas. It feels like it would be a little bit too sweet for my taste, but who knows, maybe I would actually keep the bottle for myself in the end 😀

  • This is a wonderful Christmas scent, warm, welcoming and festive, the decorated bottle is gorgeous, everything takes me back to childhood and the magic of Christmas. I have nothing of this brand.

  • If their Note Vanillée is anything to go by, I know the amber vanilla of Était Une Nuit will be delightfully warm. Christmas is my favorite time of the year, to me it has the smell of pine, amber, sweet fruits and roast chestnuts. I love experiencing through scent what others’ interpretations are. M.Micallef’s vision evokes evenings surrounded by festive lights, cozy fires, and the anticipation of something extraordinary. I’m excited to discover the possibilities of this perfume!

  • Thank you for this wonderful opportunity! Olya’s review beautifully captured the enchanting and mysterious nature of Il Était Une Nuit. I’m especially drawn to the idea of a fragrance that evokes the magic and warmth of the holiday season with such an elegant composition. I live in the Romania / EU, and my favorite M.Micallef fragrance so far is Mon Parfum Cristal, which always feels like a touch of timeless sophistication. I’d love the chance to experience this new creation—fingers crossed!

  • Sounds like a perfect winter night, watching for a favorite holiday to arrive, actually! Magic winter! What a lovely review for what sounds like a lovely fragrance. I live in the US and my current favorite Micallef scent is Gaiac, which I adore for it’s comfort and warmth.

  • My interest in was sparked by Olya’s review, especially about the holidays. I love the tuberose fragrance.

  • I love this bottle design, with it’s snowy village motif and amber juice. More interesting is how different Il Était Une Nuit is than other holiday-inspired fragrances I’ve tried—boozy stone fruit instead of cranberries and spice, a tuberose core, and not even a hint of pine. This M.Micallef take is the smell of holiday cheer; a little more abstract and equally beautiful. I’d love to try it.

I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried any M.Micallef perfumes yet.

  • David Furman says:

I’ve been intrigued by the micallef house for quite some time. They are known for being creative expressions never lacking in quality and thoroughly consistent performance. One of few companies that use more natural ingredients never slacking on quality and one where you get what you pay for. This sounds like blissful fruits and a floral composition make this a heralded treasure. From Jacksonville, NC.

  • foreverscents says:

The bottle design of Il Était Une Nuit is absolutely gorgeous. And Olya’s review highlighted the gorgeous notes, notes that transport one to wintery delights. The tuberose and jasmine sound soft and cozy. I think anyone would enjoy the long dark nights wearing this frag.
    I live in the USA.

  • Oh my goodness! Candied peaches and plums soaked in brandy sounds divine! And the packaging is a work of art. What a generous Christmas present for someone ❤️ Holiday wishes from EU

  • From Olya’s review this sounds like it would add some magic to my favorite time of year!

What drew me in the most is the way she describes the dry down as “pure gourmand indulgence: golden drops of amber, a touch of holiday punch, and velvety vanilla”. This sounds lovely. My favorite from the brand is a summer staple of mine ylang in gold. I also adore note vanille from this brand.

Happy holidays and thanks for the chance to try this new fragrance!
