L’Explicite by THoO (Christian Calabro) 2025 + Go Bananas Giveaway

L'Explicite by THoO

L’Explicite by THoO via the brand’s Instagram

L’Explicite by THoO is the newest gourmand offering from the brand, and this perfume blends banana with peanut butter and lemon peel. This warm and delicious olfactory offering is both cozy and inviting. The gourmand tones create an element of provocation while the exotic smell of ylang-ylang blends perfectly with the unconventional fruity aroma of the banana. A bed of amber secures the longevity for an experience that is sure to last you the whole day! –Steven Gavrielatos, video contributor

The bottle, wrapped in newspaper, symbolizes the protection of a forbidden fruit, the banana, which emerges as the undisputed star of this olfactory creation. Every detail invites you to discover a world without conventions, where the brand’s recognizability meets the unpredictability of its creations“. – a note from the brand

L’Explicite by THoO Notes: Lemon peel, ylang ylang, banana bread, peanut butter, amber, violet, warm spices, fruity musks

As in past years this post is dedicated to all fathers and the paternal figures who shaped our lives, (which might be you), your dad, your brother, friends…  and those who live on in our memories.  The words “Je t’aime” on the bottle is French for “I Love You”.

  • I really enjoyed this article. Very descriptive. I can almost smell the fragrance through the description ❤️Thank you Redolessence for suggesting this read.

  • LATONYA GIPSON-BOWMAN says:

Banana and Peanut Butter…. that’s what caught my attention. Steven, said it’s a unique Banana fragrance and I would love to have it in my collection. The bottle is gorgeous. I live in Orlando Florida, USA

  • jennapark says:

Steven does amazing reviews. He does a wonderful job of describing the fragrance longevity and occasion. I think L’ Explicite has a beautiful bottle really unique. I love that the house isn’t afraid to take risks and be different. This fragrance seems very interesting and i have nothing like it. The banana notes i have tried were very tropical smelling. L’ Explicite according to Steven doesn’t go in that direction. I would have anticipated a tropical vibe especially with the ylamg ylamg note. I am very curious about this one. Sending well wishes from Pennsylvania USA

  • dgustafson says:

I always love Steven’s videos, but in this one I have to say I appreciate him putting the notes into what he called “layman’s terms” for his audiences This was a great way to express how he will break it down for us.

Thank you for this opportunity. I hope I am lucky enough to get to own one of your amazing fragrances!

  • Robin Brennan says:

Watch you everyday. Rely on your opinion and have purchased some of my favorite scents for doing so Thank you! Banana power!!

  • Ramses Perez says:

I love that Steven mentioned that THoO is one of the few houses out there not trying to copy anyone else but doing their own thing. Yes, they happen to have a lot of gourmands (which I’m not mad about) but they also have some other rare and unique creations. Banana is a note that has its moments and maybe THoO it’s trying to get it back on a trend. It’s also interesting seeing a peanut butter accord and I’m just dying to see what this one smells
Like. I’m located in the USA.

  • I actually really love the design of the flacon this time. The newspaper is such an Andy Warhol modern art look. And really so is the banana note! Putting the fun into oudh!
Thank you for the chance to win this. I am located in the U.S.

  • I enjoyed the entire video description of this seemingly unique noted fragrance. US

  • I absolutely I love this brand! Just popping, in, I’m from a beautiful review done by Steven @redolessence and i’m convinced I NEED a bottle to add to my collection!

  • Mike Hruby says:

I would absolutely love to try this fragrance I only recently heard about the house of oud and would love to experience some of these

  • Rafaela Douty says:

I appreciate Steve’s dedication and commitment in always keeping up with the new releases to his audience, and I’m glad he introduced me to this website, now this will be my new playground. I am a gourmand lover but still don’t have any banana forward perfume in my collection. To be honest out of all the options out there the L’Explicite is really the only one that caught my attention, so I would definitely love to be a lucky person and win this giveaway. Fingers crossed and good lucky to all 🙂

  • sbarfield62 says:

You had me at lemon and ylang ylang.Throw the banana in as a bonus. I would love to have this scent profile. I am gourmand through and through so this is right up my alley.

  • sheri1961 says:

Love Steven’s review of this fragrance and the uniqueness of this brand. In a sea of brands that tend to do all the same offerings, i love how THOO steps out of the box and creates unique fragrances.

  • Seriously. Who is the target market for this new fragrance? The price point is a bit high for the younger crowd. It would be fun to wear to an ice cream parlor or an Elvis Presley cover band. That’s all I can come up with.

  • As a Soldier with a deep rooted love for fragrance, I often research my next purchase by visiting Redolessence. Steven has very in depth reviews that helps convey the fragrance notes and allows me to make a decision to buy. I tend to watch him and admire his collection and live vicariously through him and wish i had such a collection.

  • Bananas for Banana!

Redolessence recommended. Appreciate the article..just another layer to the sensory experience. Thank you.

  • Kara Coniglio-portillo says:

This is the second time I’ve heard about this perfume and I am dying to try it! Steven made it sound wonderful & the article was very interesting. Unfortunately, I live with a degenerative disease, and I spend a lot of time indoors. I love watching fragrance reviews, looking up the notes, and then purchasing fragrances. The perfume community is so full of love and kindness. It brings the light to some of my darker days.

  • Kathy Tucker says:

Redolessence described L’Explicite so well that I was able to decide whether I would be interested in it or not immediately. I would love to win the bottle and thank you for the opportunity!

  • Deb (Bebe) Severson says:

Llang llang is already top on my list. And now you’re adding banana and peanut butter? I’m getting hungry just thinking about this scent. Mmmm. My grandkids are going to love this perfume, even more than me!

  • Jeremy Francis says:

Steven gave quite an intriguing review. I highly value his reviews, so I’m quite sure that I would love the fragrance, especially since I am a major lover of banana bread and Peanut Butter.
Memories of those summertime loaves swirl around in my head as I listen to his description of the scent, and I can almost taste the perfume. The beauty, weight, and stature of the bottle serve as a unique topic of discussion to the unique scent profile. I’m quite sure it would be my favorite scent in my collection were I to win it.

  • Dolores broswick says:

This sounds like a wonderful scent and the bottle is everything. I can tell a lot of thought and details went into creating this.

  • I love banana cocktails, and dessert Perfumes, so I know I will love this. I love Steven’s review, it’s both elegant and funny. I really want to try L’Explicite! Thanks, from Texas!

  • Elena Rodriguez says:

I’ve never entertained about trying anything other than the perfume I’ve used the last 15yrs until I began seeing your podcast Steven.
You are a delight to be introduced to the world of fragrance. It’s opened up a new attitude of confidence.
Your descriptions are on point and honest and i appreciate the value of your words.
Steven, I never thought of pairing my wardrobe and environment in styling a fragrance.
I truly appreciate and look forward to your excellent podcast and shorts.
    I’m in LA, CA.

  • Steven’s descriptions, make this perfume sound scrumptious. Thanks for all the entertaining and informative reviews. I would be hesitant to try it based on notes, but he is very convincing. Sending love from California.

  • Eris.can.swatch.kaos says:

Banana bread and peanut butter, omg, omg, ommfg! This is high on my wants list and I can’t wait to smell it. I love a quirky fragrance and this one sounds beautiful, cozy, and weird. The longevity of this one has me happy to hear Steven’s opinion. I’ve learned about the new rebranded name THOO from Steven, and I’m 100% sure I’ve pronounced it wrong at first. I’m a Redolessence subscriber and follower of Cafleurebon on insta. I live in Oregon.

  • Anelis Sanchez says:

Quite intrigued to sniff ThoO’s banana bread scent. This gourmand combo sounds divine!

  • I love that he described how this banana fragrance was different from others, like it was smelling pastry and for gourmand lovers. That’s exactly what I love to smell like: edible!!

  • FragheadS says:

This could have easily gone in the novelty scent category, but it sounds way more complex. That amber base makes all the difference in my opinion. Steven, you have sold me on yet another one!

  • Controlledbyscent31 says:

Every time Steven says something like cozy and inviting,I know I am about to fall in love with a fragrance. He just gets it. This one is definitely on my wishlist now.

  • Angelika1 says:

I had tried some of the THoO parfums and yes the all are very particular but I just feel that the uniqueness of this brand make everyone’s of them so good and exclusive. Like Steven says, I’m very sure that this new gourmand is exquisite! Banana, peanut butter and lemon peel? Are you kidding me? This should smells amazing! Like a fresh baked banana goods! I’m so intrigue by this new perfume that either way I win or lose I will buy a sample to see how it is on my skin. Great presentation! Located in PR, USA.

  • scenchanting says:

I have been searching high and low for a gourmand that really stands out, and L’Explicite sounds like it could be the one. The combination of lemon peel and ylang-ylang alongside those rich notes sounds absolutely captivating.

  • Banana and peanut butter in a fragrance? That’s seriously wild, but Steven made it sound so inviting and warm. I am incredibly curious to experience this unique scent for myself.

  • Jennifer Lecher says:

Steven’s reviews are always thorough and heartfelt. It’s so easy to see he’s a genuine lover of fragrance and interested in all facets of the art, as am I.
I enjoy like minded people and he’s obviously as voraciously interested in the subject as I am.
The fact that he reviews all kinds of fragrances, not just men’s, women’s, niche, designer, etc., etc., is what makes his channel one of the very best for fragrance content. If not, the best.

  • teatreesoil says:

that bottle is a work of art! i appreciate steven’s comparison of l’explicite to other banana fragrances, always helpful for contextualising how the banana bread note comes off to his nose. it sounds a bit more grounded with the lemon and ylang ylang & i’m glad to hear that it’s not oversweet!

  • Sabrina Young says:

This perfume is my ultimate dream banana fragrance! Ever since the first time Steve did a review on it I’ve wanted it! Steve does such an amazing job explaining how a scent smells that it’s almost like you’re there smelling it yourself!

  • carrie_earle says:

I watch all of Steven’s videos and loved this one too. I like how he always breaks down his reviews: presentation, longevity, sillage, notes, occasion. He’s never too long winded and gets straight to the good stuff. His videos are where I learned about CaFleureBon. I absolutely love banana and would love to get an opportunity to win this fragrance.

  • I like the Andy Warhol inspired pop art bottle presentation. A cozy banana bread fragrance sounds pleasant and I do enjoy quirky gourmand fragrances. I don’t have a peanut butter or banana fragrance in my collection so this does sound unique and interesting. I’m in the USA.

  • Sherin Thomas says:

I think L’ Explicite has a beautiful bottle really unique. I love that the house isn’t afraid to take risks and be different. This fragrance seems very interesting and i have nothing like it. from Pa,USA

  • Daisy Perez says:

I see the name has changed from The House of Oud to Thoo.
I don’t have a banana fragrance in my collection and would love to try this one out. I have been wanting to get L’ARTISAN PARFUMEUR
Bana Banana but I believe at has been discontinued.

  • As a kid peanut butter and banana sandwiches were my favorite lunch. What a fun take for a gourmand perfume. I’m in the USA.

  • Oh this sounds fun! The banana bread note has an intrinsic warmth and the peanut butter adds a creaminess to the composition. A grounding of ambers and some tartness from the lemon peel and exotic florals from ylang ylang make for an interesting tropical leaning gourmand. MD, USA

  • Regis Monkton says:

I’ve heard of THoO, and I’ve been very interested to try something from them, but I haven’t had a chance to yet. “L’Explicite” sounds like something I’d like to try. I don’t have anything like it in my collection. Steven’s review caused me to think I’d like to try it. It sounds like an excellent gourmand fragrance that smells like a “really upscale bakery” and it’s classy and not kitschy at the same time. I live in the USA.

  • I love that the brand started as a Christmas gift and then it kept going. I guess the name of this perfume is a bit scandalous, but it still fits the banana theme! It would be my first from this house. In maryland.

  • Banana seems to be having a moment. It’s hard to not immediately think kitch when you hear banana and peanut butter but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t at the very least curious. Thank you, Steven, for drawing my interest.

  • IvanVelikov says:

Slightly provocative fruity-floral gourmands like The House of Oud L’Explicite are my cup of tea. I like how Steven described the fragrance, delicious banana bread , peanut butter , floral tones on a bed of amber. Let’s face it , L’Explicite is spectacular Summer social nights out fragrance , I’m so pumped for the new release.
Personally I’m glad the latest House of Oud is a tropical fragrance done in a delicious still classy , and not in a childish super sticky way. Butter Yellow Double Breasted linen suit , Brown loafers and a few sprays of L’Explicite would be a perfect addition to the overall experience, the ultimate comfort and style combination . With the help of Christian Calabro tropical island meets niche perfumery, my expectations are so high, can’t wait. The same perfumer made Keep Glazed , my favorite The House of Oud fragrance.
Thank you Steven, Michelyn , Kintessence

Thanks to the amazing Dad’s around the world!! I was fortunate enough to chat on the phone with my Dad yesterday. Thanks for manifesting it to me Steven! I didn’t know how this brand was pronounced. I love banana bread. I thought Dates Delight was innovative back in the day, and now there are quite a few fragrances with dates. I would wear this to work since I work in an elementary school. The kids would love it. Thanks!! USA.

  • MandyKat416 says:

Banana, Peanut Butter? Sound like Elvis is in the Building and I’m here for it!

  • elenitsaa says:

Fragrances like this remind me why I love niche perfume houses.
They are bold and unapologetically different. THoO keeps surprising us and I am here for it. I’d love to enter the drawing.

  • BloomyWinter says:

The Je t’aime on the bottle is such a beautiful touch. It makes the fragrance feel intimate, like a love letter in the form of perfume.
Honestly, I am already imagining how this will smell on my scarf next winter.

  • I really enjoyed the writeup, so much so that I could almost smell the fragrance through the description. Thank you for the opportunity, With a name like L’Explicite, you know it’s going to be memorable and Steven’s review proves it.

  • After reading the review all I can say is I want to wear this scent and see how people react. The bottle looks so gorgeous. I’d love to own it in my collection. USA

  • shining stones says:

This fragrance sounds like a warm treat on a winter evening.
Banana, peanut butter, and amber are all so unique and I never thought those could make a perfume work, but Steven’s review made it sound so inviting.
I am genuinely curious how that combination wears on the skin.

  • MysticalArugula says:

Finally, a scent that doesn’t smell like everything else on the shelf. Thankfully it’s here. This fragrance seems very interesting and something I might not have ever smelled before. I am really interested in how banana notes turned out to be.

  • ALT ATTITUDES, Melissa says:

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE NAME. LOL Really Steven? Eggplant? . I love banana in fragrances but usually lean to tropical ones. But I think I could love this as well. My favorite is Dates Delight 🙂
    ALT.ATTITUDES , HOUSTON, TX

  • Love those bottles! Sounds like it was based on Elvis enjoying pb and banana sandwiches! Actually a really enjoyable combination and should be interesting to smell! Thanks for the review Steven! USA

  • I’ll admit, this combination of notes sounds challenging to wear, but I’m also very curious how Calabro pulled it off; strong banana notes are somewhat hard to come by in perfumery and L’Explicite by THoO goes all in. Steven’s video shows off that incredible bottle too. He highlighted the overall banana bread vibe, but pointed out it’s not kitschy, and smells like pastry without being sugary and juvenile, or the brand’s sweetest offering (among many gourmands). “Quirky, unique, and innovative, and daring.” Very fun.

    I’m in the USA.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the cool review Steven!

The set of notes in this fragrance are so interesting. Not the banana and peanut butter, but the use of ylang ylang and the bread accord really makes this stand out. The bottle is also really cool. Wonder what the newspaper print stands for?

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Such a pleasure to read and watch
If I have to summarize the amount of pleasing to the eyes, and mind fragrance information I’ll start with the sensual ylang ylang,  peanut butter and banana bread accords in THoO L’Explicite, then the information how the brand was created based on a Christmas gift the owner gave in the past.
I’d like to win L’Explicite because I love the taste of banana bread , balanced sweetness and my love for What About Pop , a fragrance Steven mentioned in his video as well ❤
    Thanks for the draw

Happy Father’s Day all Fathers , future Fathers and Father figures on Cafleurebon .
Nice article, kudos to Michelyn and Steven . I’m familiar with The House of Oud currently known as THoO , and if I have to rate my favorite ones:
    1. Keep Glazed
    2. Grape Pearls
    3. Almond Harmony / Guilty Crush
L’ Explicite I haven’t smelled yet but I definitely will since I love banana and banana leaves as notes , according to Steven well blended gourmand with fruity, floral , spicy and ambery undertones. The nutty nuances is something I’d love to experience myself, quirky and innovative gourmands are right up my alley.
All profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

I’m always ready for sensual, deep and rich warm weather fragrances done right ✅
Coziness, positive emotions , romantic occasions all are part of the festive sensation coming from L’Explicite by THoO . The fragrance is not sugary sweet , but banana is so well blended with the florals, peanut butter and lemon peel . As far as I’m concerned it checks all the boxes, I’ll gladly wear it on dates, parties or concerts. Cristian Calabro is a great perfumer who worked with THoO on different projects , I know he did great again with L’Explicite.
Both him and THoO i discovered at the beginning of the year thanks to Michelyn Camen and Redolessence co-curated Best for 2025 article . After reading it I sampled and ordered Guilty Crush , unique offering with lipstick iris accord , champagne , so fresh and sensual.
Father’s Day in Spain is celebrated on March 19, the same day as St. Joseph, the same applies in other European countries, such as Portugal and Italy. 15th of June was the date in US , since the anual holiday is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of June.
I’d like to say Happy Father’s Day to all who celebrate
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • I’m so lucky for having such a great, and supportive family in my life , love them all , male or female. Happy Father’s Day to all dads .
The House of Oud are quite famous for their exquisite gourmands and as a Classically trained in Paris Pastry Chef I’d like to say I’d love to win L’Explicite.
Christian Calabro cooked some successful, beautiful and popular gourmand fragrances like The House of Oud What About Pop and Keep Glazed , and Bois 1920 Durocaffe.
Steven take on L’Explicite made me think of making Peanut Butter Banana Bread garnished with chopped dry-roasted peanuts , and later on eating it at home with my girlfriend
Appreciate the review, all the culinary references and the giveaway campaign ‍

  • Summer and warm weather is here and with THoO L’Explicite Steven instantly transported me some tropical destruction. Banana bread, ylang ylang, abed of amber and peanut butter?
I almost visualized laying on the beach with a glass of Dirty Banana cocktail and a slice of banana bread in my hands , L’Explicite is such a cozy and exotic gourmand.
If I have to guess the rebranding from The House of Oud to THoO happened rather recently because I bought Almond Harmony back in 2023 , and the full The House of Oud name is written on the box and also engraved on the cap.
I grew up in a big family of fragrance lovers, and collectors , my dad alone has around 60 fragrances now
    Thank you for the opportunity
