Juliette Has A Gun Pear Inc Review (Romano Ricci) + A Juicy Draw

In the beginning, there was a fruit with mysterious curves and invigorating properties: a delicious taste and a juicy aroma. A bite into its succulent flesh is a … wait, I’m not talking about the apple and the serpent here. I got pears on my mind. The playful, fun, flirtatious scent of pears is perfectly in tune with Romano Ricci’s recent direction for Juliette Has A Gun – Pear Inc.

I have been a big fan of the brand ever since I laid my nose on Lady Vengeance years back. Then came the obsession with Citizen Queen, Mad Madame, and Midnight Oud, and in between it all, I went through a few bottles of Not a Perfume, one of the pioneers of the Ambroxan-based, second-skin type of fragrance movement. In the last few years, the brand’s direction has drastically changed its course. All the darkness has been vaporized as if you took the real gun and replaced it with a plastic pink water gun, harmless and promising to be nothing but fun and I do love the new direction! Pear Inc is your gal if you are craving that fresh out of the shower, shampoo-like feeling.

There is a candy-like sweetness that blasts from the start and makes me think of caramels I would often enjoy as a kid. After about half an hour, it loses the sweetness and slowly reveals the comforting musky heart. It’s cuddly, a bit laundry-like, and feels extremely good. The last stages are all dedicated to Ambrettolide, which is part of the Macrocyclic musks and is one of the finest available; this is the molecule that gives Ambrette seeds their murkiness. An extremely fine macrocyclic musk of great diffusion and power, this a close analog of the musk that occurs naturally in Ambrette seed oil. It increases the diffusivity of fragrances in which it is incorporated and has a faint, floral-musky, sweet and pleasant odor of lactone.

Now, if you have been in the fragrance industry for a while, you probably know about the Fifi award, but if you are new to the scene, here is the scoop.

Known as the ‘Oscars’ of the fragrance industry, the 30th annual Fragrance Foundation UK Awards 2022 took place at The Brewery in the City of London. With a room full of fragrance lovers, it was a wonderful celebration to coincide with The Fragrance Foundation UK’s 30th Anniversary. The event was hosted by TV presenter Natasha Kaplinsky, Chairman of The Fragrance Foundation UK Annalise Fard, and its CEO Linda Key Jackson. During the evening, recognitions were given for the great innovation and creativity within the fragrance industry. The last 12 months have proved extremely encouraging and positive for The Fragrance Foundation UK as they have welcomed many new companies as members, from retailers to suppliers and companies working to support the wonderful world of fragrance. Juliette Has A Gun Pear Inc won the best Media Campaign award, and rightfully so, as the imagery, positioning, and overall vibe perfectly translate the juice in the bottle.

I do enjoy the direction of the brand with their past few releases, especially Juliette Has A Gun Pear Inc – edgy and fun; it positions itself as a brand and fragrances anyone can relate to, price and olfactory wise. Some may argue it’s becoming a bit generic, yet it has a cult following, always waiting with anticipation for the next release. Juliette Has A Gun Pear Inc feels wearable and appropriate for any scene, season, and mood – not something I can say about many niche and artisanal brands. I often encounter masterpieces that become more like an art piece you can admire in the art gallery vs. a fragrance you can wear anytime, anywhere. There is a place and time for each, of course.

In the end, the reviews are just personal opinions, and from the vantage point of where I’m standing, I do love to play with fragrances of all sorts, genres, and complexities. Pear Inc is my morning dip in the pool companion to lift up my mood and energy level. You will have to experience this fun little concoction for yourself, of course, so dive right in!

Notes: Pear, Ambroxan, Musk and Ambrettolide.

Juliette Has A Gun Pear Inc was kindly gifted to me but opinions are always my own.

**im from Europe so not for the draw**
I just want to say that I have a decant of Pear Inc and I wore it today and it’s such a beautiful juicy Pear with Great projection. I enjoy it very much, and that musky part that later comes in blends delightfuly. Love this brand!

  • I agree with Olya that Juliette has a Gun has, indeed, changed its direction. The original from the brand were heavier compositions and the recent releases have been light and more fun wears and Pear Inc affirms the new direction. It seems the brand wants to expand its appeal and focus on fragrances that can be wear on all occasions rather than being suited to only certain occasions. My fav. from the brand is Midnight Oud. I am in US.

  • Olya’s review has me wanting to smell this Pear /Musky Fragrance. It’s sounds perfect for Summertime. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • I love Juliette Has a Gun and my favorite one is Not a Perfume yet, but I would love to try this one and even more knowing it won FIFI award! Oh boy, I love pear notes and I am sure I would love this one.
    USA here.

  • This is a great fragrance and Olya really captures the fun/greatness of this perfume in her description of it!

  • Pear Inc sounds like a great fit for any season. Summertime would be my choice. However, I enjoy being different and would also spritz it during colder months. Pear is a delightful note in perfumery, IMHO. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff. Mich USA

Very cool review. It reminded me how much I loved this fragrance when I initially sampled it. I do not own any of Juliette has a gun fragrances, but I plan to get a few full bottles eventually. Out of those I managed to sample Pear Inc and Vanilla Vibes are my two favorites. I completely agree with Olya when she says Pear Inc is edgy and fun. It does have an amazing pear smell and very clean soapy vibe. What makes it interesting is how fun it is while being so universal and appropriate in any situation. I’m from Illinois, US.

  • John McDonald says:

Pear is a great note for summer.
Can’t wait to smell it paired with musk (pun intended).

  • petergigov says:

Juliette Has a Gun name I’ve heard, but have no experience with it. Pear Inc is simplistic and fun , close encounters Summer fragrance. My body may not be young enough for such fragrances, but my soul is , i also love pears
    Exciting giveaway, USA

I liked how Olya positioned this fragrance as a practical, well-made fragrance even if it is not the most boundary breaking. It sounds like something one could reach for spontaneously without regret. In the US, in North Carolina.

  • Uncle1979 says:

Olya take on Pear Inc reminded me of making Poached Pear Caramel Drip Cake , and later on sharing it with friends on a pool party
Not a Perfume Overdose I own too , and I love it for what it is, I only layer it with other fragrances. The truth most people are buying such perfumes , not to wear them as standalone fragrances, but to layer them , to extend the longevity and projection of those close to the skin perfumes they love.
I’d like to layer Pear Inc , and Not a Parfume Overdose for the pool party
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign.

  • From Olya’s review, it appears that this brand has moved away from its heavier perfumes to lighter ones and Pear Inc represents that. I am not sure a chemical, laundry-like, or a shower or shampoo smell, while pleasant, is what I am looking for in a perfume. Maybe for summer or times when you need a lift. No experience with this brand. Thanks for the review and draw. From USA.

  • Olya do have a point, some fragrances I admire for the creativity and uniqueness, but I can’t really wear , Pear Inc is uplifting and fun , sometimes that’s all I need.
“Mmmm” is the reason in know Juliette has a Gun . It’s in the vain of Dior Hypnotic Poison – had to get it, since I am huge Hypnotic Poison fan.It is really sweet , and vanilla is the most prominent note.
With such colognes like Pear Inc , and Magnolia Bliss you could easily create your own flankers , for example layering Mmmm and Pear Inc , i think will freshen up the smell , summer pear and vanilla .
    Thanks for the draw

Juliette Has a Gun to me is Vanilla Vibes ,vanilla , salt and orchid combination I can wear all year round, even if it’s cold ,if I overspray of course. It’s quite versatile, I even wear it at the shop, working with clients
Pear Inc is less sweet, with ripe pear and musk . Laid back fragrance for shorts , white polo shirt and sunglasses outfit
    Thank you Olya and Europerfumes

  • I’ve sampled Pear Inc and it is a very wearable juicy pear with a musky background. It’s uncomplicated but a very happy scent to sniff. My favorite Juliette Has a Gun is Not a Perfume. I’m in MD, USA.

  • I don’t think pear-focused fragrances are as common, which is such a shame. Incredible to have won the Media Campaign award! Would love to try this out. I have not tried from the brand. I live in the USA.

  • Bryant Worley says:

This sounds like a great fragrance, and Olya really captures the fun of this perfume in her description of it – ‘The playful, fun, flirtatious scent of pears’; “…candy-like sweetness that blasts from the start”; “It’s cuddly, a bit laundry-like, and feels extremely good”. I’ve only tried one fragrance from the brand, which I really enjoyed- “Into the Void”.

I live in Waldorf, Maryland, USA.

  • Olya’s review was enthusiastic and fun, which sounds like it matches in tone to Pear Inc. While I love my big heavy art pieces, sometimes you just need something a bit lighter and approachable, and that is exactly what this frag sounds like.

I have let down by pear scents in the past, so this appealed to me a lot. I have not owned anything from this brand yet but liked everything I’ve smelled!

  • redwheelbarrow says:

This sounds lovely. I have yet to sample any fragrances from this house so was unaware of the new direction it is taking. Thanks for the draw! In the US.

  • msnitechemist says:

I love pear as a primary note and I agree with Olya here, pear is an everyday, every occasion scent. It is unfortunate that my skin does not like ambroxan and makes any scent with it inside completely unpalatable, including their single note Not a Perfume. I appreciate Olya’s point that JHAG is a brand that is accessible to all and there is nothing wrong with that – the fact that I can find these at a Sephora brick and mortar is great for the person who doesn’t know a whole lot about perfume yet but still wants something different. Please exclude me from the draw.

  • Michael Prince says:

I love Olya’s review of Juliette Has A Gun Pear Inc is how Olya makes it sounds light, sweet, musky, and playful. Like Olya, I’ve enjoyed seeing how Juliette has a Gun’s fragrances have evolved over the years and how their creations now are simplistic and airy, but still have a unique niche vibe to them. My favorite fragrance from Juliette has a gun is Moscow Mule. I’m from the USA.

  • I really enjoy JHAG fragrances and one of my faves is Not a Perfume because it layers SO well with other fragrances. That ambroxan note is wonderful. I love fragrances with a pear not and I’ve not found many perfumes that contain it (one of my favorites is Petite Cherie).
    I live in the USA.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I’m interested to try this fragrance because I can like fragrances which feature pear and ambrette seeds, and also, because I’ve heard good things about the pear note which is in this fragrance. I appreciated learning about Ambrettolide and Macrocyclic musks, which I didn’t know about before having read from this review. I haven’t tried anything yet from this company. I live in the U.S.A.

“In the last few years, the brand’s direction has drastically changed its course. All the darkness has been vaporized as if you took the real gun and replaced it with a plastic pink water gun”

Correct , I fully agree with Olya. Years back Juliette Has a Gun was known as rebellious, a bit quirky brand, especially the premium line. Not all ,but most of the darkness is gone, no new fragrances came out of the “Luxury Collection” for the past 3 years.
To be honest I always felt Romano Ricci has targeted from the very beginning, different people with the regular, and “Luxury Collection” line, the vibe of the 2 is very different in my opinion.
Pear Inc. Is like a brunch under the pergola, people sunbathing, and I’m eating homemade pear jam . Not a gourmand by any means, still sweetness is noticeable throughout the whole lifespan of the fragrance, at least for me.
Own full bottle of Into The Void , and i had Mmm . No doubt my favorite Juliette Has a Gun is Into the Void
    Thanks a lot , all profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg

  • As I started reading this review, I expected Pear Inc to be a big fruity fragrance, and was surprised to discover it’s composed from only four notes—two of which are Ambroxan and Ambrettolide. I don’t have much experience with either of these, so I’d love to try this one since it relies on both so heavily. I also like a nice musky second-skin presence.

Also, thank you for describing the Fifi award in more detail. I am new to the scene (like you said in your review) and this was very informative. The photography for Pear Inc is beautiful, so I can see why it took home the prize.

I’m in the midwest, USA. I think I’ve only tried JHAG Not a Perfume, which is interesting, but a little simplistic for my tastes.

  • Bubeto_GG says:

Easy going, joyful is how I would describe Juliette Has a Gun fragrances I know. With Pear Inc, and Vanilla Vibes one could be delighted up until late Summer.
Olya review also made me think how much i need a vacation at the moment – laying on the hammock with a book , drinking White Sangria preferably with the lovely 2018 Jermann Pinot Grigio Venezia Giulia IGT
Like Olya said, there’s fragrances that you can admire like an piece of art in a Soho gallery, and there’s others that makes you smile at once , like Pear Inc.
Vanilla Vibes is my favorite Juliette Has a Gun
    Thank you for the opportunity

Thanks for the great writeup Olya! Fascinating that this scent has only four components to it, but well done!
