“With Miami Shake, I decided to present the first really gourmand fragrance of the collection. With Wild Strawberries as a top note, of course they had to be wild like Juliette. An elevated fruity scent, silky like whipped cream and musky, with a long-lasting trail. As the composition came together, the woman behind the perfume appeared to me as well, playing hide and seek in her oversized Miami villa. Pastels colors, blue pool, and retro vibes. It’s never too much. Will her olfactory treat make you succumb?” Romano Ricci.
In the sun-drenched, pastel-hued streets of Miami, where the nightlife and the ocean breeze carries whispers of indulgence, Juliette Has a Gun unveils its latest olfactory escapade: Miami Shake. Launched in 2025, this fragrance marks a bold departure for the French niche house, as founder and perfumer Romano Ricci dares to embrace the unabashed decadence of a true gourmand. With Miami Shake, Ricci conjures a scent that is as playful as it is sophisticated, a fragrance that dances on the skin like a diva rollerblading through her oversized villa, her red hair adorned with oversized bows, her whims dictating the rhythm of the day. This is a fantasy of a scent which may come off juvenile to some but if you ask me, that was the point all along.

From the first spritz, Juliette Has A Gun Miami Shake unfurls with a burst of candy like strawberries—ripe, sun-warmed, and just-picked from some secret, untamed grove. As the fragrance settles, the heart reveals its true indulgence: a whipped cream accord, a silken, decadent cream that feels like it was churned by hand in some opulent Miami villa’s kitchen. It’s rich yet never heavy, folding into the strawberry with a texture that’s almost palpable, like a dessert you can’t resist scooping with a silver spoon. There’s a subtle floral whisper—orange blossom, delicate and fleeting—lending a touch of elegance, as if the diva in her pink villa paused to tuck a bloom behind her ear before continuing her carefree glide across the marble floors.

The drydown is where the fragrance truly takes the cake, as Ricci himself might say. A base of silky vanilla absolute emerges, warm and enveloping, like the fading sunlight on Ocean Drive. It’s not a shrill, saccharine vanilla but one that feels sun-kissed and musky, with a depth that lingers like the memory of a perfect Miami sunset. There’s a hint of something creamy and slightly savory—perhaps a whisper of coconut or milky lotion, as some have noted—that adds an unexpected twist, evoking the sensation of a cool, frothy daiquiri sipped poolside. The musky base, laced with ambroxan and cashmeran, grounds the composition, giving it a lasting trail that clings to the skin like a sultry summer night.
Yet, Juliette Has A Gun Miami Shake is not without its complexities and contradictions, as any good fragrance should be. Some have found its strawberry note too synthetic, likening it to a sharp, almost medicinal fruitiness, others lament the absence of the promised ice cream note, expecting a fuller, richer gourmand experience. In my testing, I found these critiques to hold some truth in the opening moments, where the strawberry can feel a touch artificial on certain skin chemistries. But patience rewards the wearer: as the fragrance evolves, it sheds any synthetic edges, blossoming into a composition that feels more like a strawberry daiquiri with floral undertones than a straightforward milkshake. The interplay of jasmine, gardenia, and perhaps a hint of ylang-ylang in the heart adds a creamy floral dimension that elevates the scent beyond its gourmand billing, making it a chameleon that shifts from playful to sophisticated with each passing hour.

The bottle itself is a pink-to-blue gradient that captures Miami’s iconic aesthetic—pastel facades, neon lights, and the azure glow of luxury hotel pools. It’s a visual nod to the fragrance’s retro vibes, evoking a time when Miami was all about bold colors and carefree glamour. The packaging feels like an invitation to the diva’s villa, where every detail, from the rollerblades to the oversized bows, is a statement of individuality.
Romano Ricci describes Miami Shake as the brand’s first true gourmand, and it’s a fitting addition to Juliette Has a Gun’s repertoire, which has long danced between the dark romance of Lady Vengeance and the playful exuberance of Pear Inc. and Magnolia Bliss. This is a fragrance for those who crave escapism, who want to channel the vibrant, magnetic energy of Miami without stepping foot on a plane. It’s for the woman—or man, as many Juliette Has A Gun fans attest—who isn’t afraid to embrace their inner diva, to savor life’s sweetness without apology.
On my skin, Juliette Has A Gun Miami Shake lasted a commendable six to eight hours, with a sillage that draws compliments without overwhelming. It’s a fun crowd-pleaser with a twist, a scent that feels like a vacation in a bottle, perfect for those summer days when you want to feel sun-drenched and carefree, even if you’re stuck in the city. Some may find it too youthful, too playful for their taste, but for those who revel in the joy of a well-crafted gourmand, Miami Shake is a treat worth indulging in.
