Jovoy Private Label Review (Cecile Zarokian) +Mad Men draw

Jovoy Private Label review

Roger Sterling (John Slattery) and Don Draper (Jon Hamm) at the bar… again Madmen TV series via AMC

Cecile Zarokian was one of the first to be featured in our Young Perfumer Series.  According to Cecile, “I decided to take a shot at going out on my own and start my own company. I didn’t have any clients, I contacted some brands and it all started with François Hénin from Jovoy. He was also working on his next Jovoy perfumes as an updated brand. That’s how I created the fragrance Private Label. M. Henin called Private Label my ideal Oriental Scent”.

Francois Henin of Jovoy PArsi with Cecile Zaroklian

 François Hénin and Cecile Zarokian

Editor Sebastian Jara finds Jovoy Private Label to be very masculine. I agree.  When I wear it I am reminded of one of the many bar scenes from the series Mad Men… which was set in 1960. Jovoy Private Label is contemporary, it’s not a clone nor a throwback, although the sillage is strong, reminiscent of men’s fragrances of that time.  I smell top shelf  booze (amber, vetiver, papyrus-depends what you are drinking), cigarette smoke,  the leather of the bar stools and wood paneling.  Yes, this is a scent for a modern Don Draper (Peggy Olsen would wear it too).  For that matter, any “Girl Boss” would rock this –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Disclosure: Sebastian had a bottle and drained it dry. Amerikas the US distributor sent him a new one for review. Thank you!!!

  • What I loved most about Sebastian’s review was the sheer enthusiasm he had , you can really tell her loves not only the fragrance but the brand itself and that kind of excitement bleeds through and made me just as happily curious about the scent.

Michelyn’s introduction was so helpful as a scene builder , almost like a great set up in a movie. It created further intrigue but also added some great nuggets of information doing it too.

From Michelyn’s Introduction: It was to see how the editor managed to evoke a scene from the past and a fictional set in order to describe the experience of wearing this perfume.

From Sebastian’s Review: He got me very interested in the scent since he explained that it is a very masculine scent focusing on papyrus, vetiver, and patchouli.

    From GA, USA

  • Since I like masculine and unisex fragrances, especially smokey boozy ones, I’m interested. Thanks for including Peggy Olsen, Ms Michelyn. Sebastian says it’s masculine? Well, I love both vetiver, papyrus and patchouli notes. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff! Mich USA

  • Sebastian always brings to us the best perfumes with joy and passion. I love that about him. The notes in Private Label are right on my alley.
Mychelyn successfully conveyed the overall sensation/atmosphere of this perfume through a scene/image.

  • Sebastian is a gem! I hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying their fragrances at home! Jovoy is such an intriguing house, I am impressed with their releases. Smokey fragrances can be tricky for me, but I’d still love to try this one. I enjoyed Michelyn’s reference to Mad Men and as usual Sebastian’s enthusiasm for this fragrance is tangible – I am impressed he almost finished a bottle of it! In from Canada.

  • Wow, private label sounds amazing and both Michelin and Sebastian really got me wanting it
    I live in the USA
    Thanks for the opportunity

  • Laith Hasanian says:

My favorite part about Sebastian’s review was the vivid imagery he paints to help the viewer understand the fragrance. The biggest challenge for any fragrance reviewer online is that the viewer cannot smell the fragrance, so for this one — the way Sebastian describes the smoky, private room filled with cigar smoke and boozy whiskey… it made me really, really want this fragrance. His description of how the notes play together (i.e papyrus) helps me distinguish or imagine how this fragrance would be different than other masculine, smoky, boozy fragrances.

Michelyn’s introduction set the tone for the rest of the video.

  • I enjoy wearing masculine leaning scents and Peggy Olsen is a muse I would definitely emulate. Amber, vetiver and leather are all in my wheelhouse and if Sebastian drained his bottle dry, it must be a quality fragrance, Thanks for the mental image of the Girl Boss, Michelyn! I’m from MD, USA.

  • I like how Michelyn is able to describe the fragrance to me in only a couple of sentences. I can really imagine me wearing it in a suit!
Sebastian always have has in depth details of the fragrance and a well defined personal experience.

  • Jtscheepers says:

I love how Michelyn compared it to the bar scenes from Mad Men, this sounds like my kind of fragrance.

Sebastians review was great and informative as always. I love how he when into detail on the notes of this perfume, makes me really want a bottle of this, especially as a patchouli lover.

  • Reviewing fragrances is a difficult task as it is subjective. Sebastian has an amazing gift explaining everything you want to know about the fragrance. This is a fragrance house that I’ve always wanted to try. But I’ve been hesitant. Maybe it’s above my league. I don’t own any real masculine fragrances. I’m not afraid anymore, it’s time, unleash Private Joy, I’m ready for you.
I like Michelyn’s reference, “This is a scent for a modern Don Draper.”
Have a great week all , from Australia.

  • I’ve been wanting to try this, well a few from the brand, but they just aren’t easy to get here in Canada. I know Sebastian really loves the brand so I’m excited for the opportunity.

  • westseattlejohn says:

Being a child of the early 60’s, I’ve always considered myself a “Don Draper” kind of guy. I’ve been looking for an new ultra masculine fragrance. This one is now at the top of my list. Can’t wait to try the combination of vetiver, leather, patchouli and papyrus.

  • I didn’t know about the english names! I don’t watch Mad Men myself but I do love a good bar scent – especially if there is a hint of that barstool woodiness. Good to hear it’s not too much of a throwback. Private Label was actually the other scent from Jovoy I was considering when I picked up Pavillon Rouge. The intense smokiness that Seb mentions is what intrigues me most. Really does sound like it would go well with a smooth whiskey. Perhaps I should stop giving myself ideas in these times of self isolation? We’ll see. 😉 Canada.

  • Great review from Sebastian as always, full of passion and enthusiams when he’s describing something good. Also the picture with Roger and Don Draper in the article was an instant magnet for me, love the Madmen series. I would love to try this Private Label fragrance, thanks for the chance, i’m in the EU.

  • Another quality review by Sebastian. I have a sample of Jovoy Private Label sent for me last time I purchased a fragrance from Jovoy, and immediately I fall in love with this one. One of the most butch scent I have ever smelled, and also very elegant. The smokiness of the vetiver and the medicinal patchouli blend really well here. And the performance is just monstrous. Jovoy has slowly because one of my favorite houses, everything they created screams uniqueness and quality. I would love to win this one. Good luck to all~

  • Aftekhar Khan says:

I would love to enter the giveaway, the scent sounds amazing with those ingredients I feel as though it would be something that I would really enjoy. I must say Sebastian always brings these gems to my attention. Definitely something I will look into, you’ve got my vote. Greetings and blessings from London, UK

  • cadizgab31 says:

I liked that Sebastian seemed very excited to review the Private Label and loves this fragrance. He has so many bottles in his collection yet he finished this in particular, very interesting. I have tried psychadelique and hoping i can try this too.

Michelyn’s introduction gives me an image of a dapper man in a bar, sipping a drink of the finest whiskey and wearing Private Label

    Greetings from PH

  • Hashim Madani says:

From Sebastian’s review, Private Label seems to be the perfect fragrance to wear in a cigar lounge as it seems to reinforce and perfectly complement the smoky, clubby ambiance. Michelyn reinforces this “gentleman’s club” feel with the leather and wood paneling notes she describes. VA, USA.

  • polaroidcaesar says:

I liked Sebastian’s review because he always describes the fragrance perfectly while keeping his videos short, sweet, and to the point. His enthusiasm is palpable. Michelyn’s introduction was very vivid, and really got me interested in the scent. I would love a big, bold masculine leather and vetiver fragrance in my collection and this one sounds fantastic.

  • John Bauman says:

Jovoy has always been a house that has intrigued me.

Michelyn Camen‘s intro describing the setting and style or air the scent invokes makes this sound like a style of fragrance that I very much enjoy.

Sebastian on his channel took this to the next level, Vetiver, Patchouli, Cedar and Birch are some of my favorite notes in fragrances. Smokey accords are something I find intoxicating, and I feel they tend to really draw you into the experience. The performance as he describes it gives me even more interest in this fragrance.

Between Michelyn and Sebastian, they have me excited to try Jovoy Private Label, as it sounds like it will not only be enjoyable but also will make me reminisce about the times I would hang out in clubs and lounges, while enjoying a cigar with a drink. This is sounds like something I have been looking for, and thank both Michelyn and Sebastian for the very informative article and review.

  • anchordaddy says:

I like the way Sebastian breaks down the scent notes. He give detail reviews of fragrances and sometimes make one smell the perfume through the computer. He is amazing reviewer and know the trade inside out.

  • Joseph Fox says:

Wow! Sebastian makes “über masculine” Jovoy Private Label sound very desirable. Cecile Zarokian seems to create aromas right up my alley. I’d love a big bottle to sniff, enjoy, and exuberate. The vetiver and other elements evoking a whiskey-drinking smokiness sounds very intriguing.

  • A modern Don Draper? Yeah, I think I need this! This was very well described by Sebastian and by Michelyn, I also really like that this fragrance is kinda nostalgic to Sebastian its good to hear reviews from people that have been actually wearing the fragrance for awhile.

  • I thought it was great how Sebastian was able to incorporate his memories of San Francisco from smell this scent. I also enjoyed the call back to Madmen in Michelyn’s intro. That show really hammered in the excessive drinking and smoking in the 60s. Entry from CA, USA

  • I love masculine vetiver frags and this sounds simply amazing I love watching Sebastian as he lives his dream of teaching us. Michelyn’s introduction brought this fragrance journey to life. I’, intrigued!

Private label sounds very interesting and lately I have discovered the works of Cecile Zarokian and already a fan of her work! Jovoy as a house never disappoints.Sebastian from smelling great fragrance reviews has aptly described the fragrance as an oriental beast mode fragrance and being a vetiver lover I have to try it! I absolutely love mad men and if that’s what comes to mind while sniffing private label by jovoy, I cannot stress more on how badly I want to relive that experience
    Would love to own it
All the way from Gujarat, India!

  • Drained his bottle… there’s absolutely no way that he wore the entire 100ml. The man has hundreds if not thousands of bottles, clearly he is selling decants of his perfume. I wonder how much money he makes selling decants of the free bottles he gets for review…

  • Michelyn says Private Label is suited to Don Draper but Peggy Olson may also shine in it but Sebastian thinks it may be too masculine for women who are into florals and so on. I am in US

  • Shamrock1313 says:

Nice intro by Michelyn – Mad Men sounds like the perfect fit for this one.
Sebastian always has such informative reviews and this one didn’t disappoint. Old school/classic frags are a great change of pace and Javoy sounds like they nailed it.

  • anthonyumu says:

What a great review by Sebastian. I first came across Jovoy Private Label while I was working in Qatar and I just fell in love with the papyrus note. The smoky vetiver and patchouli almost reminds me of Encre Noire A L’extreme but even better. Sebastian really hit the nail on the head with the description of a private club and Michelyn’s Mad Men reference solidified that image for me. Her “Girl Boss” statement is so true; I’d love to smell this on my girlfriend!

  • Aurela Arvidas says:

What I loved most about Sebastian review was when he said it’s Oriental Woody and I LOVE oriental woody fragrance.
When he said it’s intense and masculine fragrance, I’m so exited to smell this especially the smoky vetiver on this fragrance.

  • You can tell that Sebastian loves this fragrance from this review. I have watched several of his reviews on fragrances from the house of Jovoy. I trust Sebastian’s nose when it come to fragrances and he is is right on about Private Label it is a great fragrance. I have tried three from this house and love them all and look foward to trying them all. Thanks for the giveaway! Texas, USA

My favorite part about Sebastian’s review was the vivid desciption. He paints to help the viewer understands the fragrance.

  • Hikmat Sher Afridi says:

I love masculine, smokey, woody & mature fragrances. As described by Sebastian Jara Private Label in the video the very first fragrance from Jovoy to purchase, so definitely for every gentleman. Also, the Editor-in-Chief Michelyn Camen reviewed perfectly.
Thanks for your generosity, count me in, please. Pakistan

  • Great review by Michelyn as she describes the scent a something a modern Don Draper would wear or a Girl Boss. Sebastian knows quality and classy masculine fragrances like Private Label. A bold fragrance!! Thanks for the draw. I live in CA, USA.

  • Hello!

I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews! His integrity always comes through and we have similar taste. I loved his compassion to the Redwood Room! Michelyn had me at Mad Men in the introduction!! Love that show, and the impeccable stylings therein.

    Best wishes from snowy Colorado!

  • I love and trust Sebastian’s YouTube reviews, I bought many fragrances based on his review and I really loved them all, his passion for what he does is out of this world, me and my girlfriend purchased Jovoy Paris Psychedelique and what a BEAST great quality and then we bought pavillon rouge (LOVE IT) We couldn’t find private label or incident diplomatique in our local store in hong kong, and we plan to have a whole Jovoy collection.

Michelyn’s introduction is really helpful to make us understand the fragrance better and make you imagine the experience of wearing the scent
From Hong Kong, Thanks for the opportunity

  • Even though I’ve never seen an episode of Mad Men (just not enough time in my day), I reminisce every once in a while of the early 80’s when I was a child and immediately I get memories of what my closest family and friends used to smell like. I would imagine my godfather would smell like this Jovoy. Sebastian always describes the fragrance enough where I swear to myself out loud and think “damnit, know I gotta add this to my long list of frags to buy”. I’ve never smelled anything from Jovoy but thanks to Sebastian I’m interested in this and Psychedelique.

  • I am intrigued by the house of Jovoy and master perfumer Cecile Zarokian collaboration early in her career. The notes of Patchouli, Vetiver and Papyrus puqued my intention and I love boozy and leathery scents. A wonderful description by Sebastian and Michelyn I loved the bar analogy from the 40,50 and 60s that this is a butch masculine fragrance. Thanks from the United Kingdom

  • ‘Jovoy Private Label is contemporary, it’s not a clone nor a throwback, although the sillage is strong, reminiscent of men’s fragrances of that time. I smell top shelf booze (amber, vetiver, papyrus-depends what you are drinking), cigarette smoke, the leather of the bar stools and wood paneling’ What an evocative and beautiful description by Michelyn this description piqued my interest I am also interested in Patchouli, Vetiver and Papyrus notes that Sebastian mentioned. Thanks a million from the UK

  • The intro and video made me feel like this scent was a throwback, a reimagined scent from days past.
Loved the disclosure, Michelyn gave away inside secrets! From the video we could tell Sebastian was excited about this scent and the excitement caught on.

  • I enjoyed Sebastians review and the picture he painted of sitting in a private club drinking whiskey smoking a cigar. From the introduction I liked how Michelyn related it to Mad Men and scenes at the bar. This seems like a fragrance that projects power and powerfully as well. In the U.S. Thanks for the generous draw.

  • nhatninh1801 says:

Aiming this fragrance for sometime. I am very fond of Boozy Pat scent and since it’s approved by Sebastian I think I am also love this.
I own the Frederic Malle Monsieur which is also very boozy with Patchouli. Hope to have the opportunity to sniff this.

    Thanks

I love Jovoy Psychedelique – I would love to get my nose on this manly scent, too!

Since Seb drained this bottle of private label, who seems to have over thousand bottles of fragrances, then it must be a gem and I really need this one! Please pick me for the giveaway!

  • Sebastian es mi favorito! Explica muy bien las notas de los perfumes y tenemos gustos al parecer muy similares, ya que gracias a sus videos he gastado más de 500 dlls este mes en perfumes que él ha recomendado

Sebastian is my favorite! He explains the notes of the perfumes very well and we have apparently very similar tastes, since thanks to his videos I have spent more than 500 dlls this month on perfumes that he has recommended
Greetings from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico amigo 😉

  • I’m really enjoying these intros that refer to movies or TV shows to establish the mood of the fragrance, as this one by Michelyn did. In Sebastian’s review, I liked the quick slideshow of pictures showing the origin of each note as he read off the ingredients of the fragrance. Good stuff as usual. IL, USA here.

  • Sebastian’s review really piqued my interest in this fragrance. He really knows his stuff when it comes to describing fragrances. Michelyn’s introduction was very informative and interesting as well. I’ve never tried anything from this house before but I’d love to. Thanks for the great review and the great giveaway. Commenting from Kentucky USA.

  • Bryant Worley says:

I really appreciated Sebastian’s enthusiasm for the fragrance, and his accurately pointing out how masculine it is (papyrus, vetiver, patchouli). Michelyn drew a very nice picture of the smell you would get from Private Label (top shelf booze [amber, vetiver, papyrus-depends what you are drinking], cigarette smoke, the leather of the bar stools and wood paneling).

  • Thanks Sebastian n CaFleureBon for the review n giveaway. I sampled this fragrance a few years ago n as it is as Sebastian described it very masculine, smoky, n Woody fragrance. Not for everyone definitely, you need a person with a strong personality n presence to pull it off.
Anyway I did liked it n hopefully I can win the bottle.
    Thanks again guys,

  • Michelyn’s and Sebastian’s reviews are complementing each other. Perfumes from Jovoy are a pure class, perfection and filigree execution. I managed to try Psychedelique from this house and was very impressed with the work done by Hénin. Everything that François does is done with the soul, and Cecile is one of the best perfumers of our time, so I think their duet turned out to be fruitful and interesting.

Thanks to the reviews by Sebastian I found many interesting fragrances for himself and I consider his work necessary and useful. Combining with the images presented by Michelyn, Private Label appears truly courageous and worthy of attention.

Good luck to everyone and be healthy 🙂

I always love Sebastian’s videos for bringing something new. This review is no different and the fragrance sounds quite interesting. Greetings from Romania!

  • Sebastian has got reallly great collection of fragrances and I think his first buy from jovoy collection also one of the best

  • I enjoyed Sebastians Review because he is a storyteller, in every review he does he describes the scent so detailed that I almost can smell it. And I blind buyed some stuff before, after i saw his review and didnt regret it. Also what intrigues me with Private Label is, that a really woody masculine scent is still missing in my collection – I liked about Mychelin´s Itroduction the fact that I too thought about Madmen when i finished the review from Sebastian. I was automatically associating it with this older classy stoic masculine man. In addition I really liked the info about how Private Label was created. I cant wait to try it.

As always Great and very detailed review from Sebastian. I really love and enjoy wearing masculine vetiver fragrances after watching his review I am very keen to check this fragrance.

  • Joseph Fragale says:

Would lov eto own the Jovoy. Sebastian compared another Jovoy vetiver based fragrance (Incidente Diplomatique0, which I own and he let me understand thatare completely different. Love that about him, he tries so many different fragrances. He is like a visual Fragrantica.

  • Sebastian is hands down one of the most knowledgeable reviewers on YouTube. From the brand to the perfume/perfumer, he leaves out no detail. His notes breakdown is second to none. He just knows his perfume.

Michelyn’s introduction not only captures the character of the fragrance, but also goes to show that confident women can rock this fume like a boss.

  • Steliyan Syarov says:

I just hope the scent is not that harsh to the nose, that it pushes other people away from you. But I would love to try the fragrance for myself and see if I like it and what reaction other people will have.
    Greetings from Austria, EU.

  • Sebastian is always so enthusiastic, he is so passionate about perfume! I love boozy smells, especially when going out. Would really really love to try this one!!

    Living in the EU

  • The Jovoy Private Label’s notes are remarkable.

Michelyn’s introduction is a basic for the review and Sebastian done it very well.

  • TE Withrow says:

I love how Sebastian always makes the fragrance sound like the next thing you have to smell…
And Michelyn’s description of this being a Don Draper and Peggy Olsen fragrance was a good description! I loved Mad.Men!

  • twiggy3634 says:

I love how Sebastian likens this fragrance to a private club in the city where there is sipping of whiskey and smoking cigars. Makes me think of an old speakeasy. And although Sebastian claims it is super masculine, I like that Michelyn can envision Peggy Olsen wearing it as I also find it alluring when a confident woman wears a traditionally “masculine” scent.

    Cheers from IN, USA.

  • Man does this sound intense! I love in Michelyn’s intro that she describes the different aspects of a gentleman’s club and how this scent puts the wearer there: cigarette smoke, booze and leather stools! I really enjoyed Sebastian’s description of it being super intense but drying down to a woody amber scent. It seems like this is the scent you pull out a few times a year only for the most special occasions!

  • Zoran Loncarevic says:

Hello Sebastian, great review as always . it makes me a huge pleasure to listen to you and an appetite for the perfume . Unfortunately I have not yet been able to smell any Jovoy perfume ☹️ …

That seems to me to be a very masculine fragrance and therefore suits me well. .
Thank you very much and greets from Germany

  • Since he drained a bottle he must love it. I haven’t tried this house. I can imagine wearing this while social distancing and still get a compliment or two. US

  • Love how Sebastian described this as a scent to use in a private club. My grandfather was a member of many of these clubs and one of the reasons I got into fragrances… particularly vetiver fragrances. And that Michelyn called this a fragrance for a “Girl Boss”, kinda makes me want to get a bottle of this for me AND my wife. Wonderful reviews!

  • Sebastian does his best as always! I have watched him for years and he has never steered us wrong! I believe that the Private Label from Jovoy Paris as Sebastian has described as being the most Masculine Fragrance would be something that I would Love to have… THANKS…….. Count Me In!

  • Monica Beaton says:

The scent of Mad Men – leather furniture, boozy lunches, cigarette smoke, and the ghost of Don Draper….intrigued. I live in Australia.

  • What I was intrigued about Sebastian’s review was how he described it as a beautiful and intense fragrance based on patchouli and vetiver. I love patchouli and vetiver and what way to have best of both worlds in one perfume? And a twist of papyrus? I am completely sold. Would love to try this.

Michelyn’s introduction definitely helped paint this image of a boozy and smoky bar from one of the scenes of Mad Men. If that doesn’t smell like class, I don’t what does.

    OHIO, USA

  • I enjoyed Sebastian passion for reviewing, he know how to break the scent piece by piece. And in doing so he gives the viewer an accurate picture of the scent.

  • There were two things that made me want to try this fragrance.
    1) Sebastian’s description of the vetiver. I am a vetiver gal.
    2) Michelyn’s suggestion that this would be right for a modern Peggy Olson” or “GirlBoss”. That sounds perfect for me.
    I am in the US.

  • Andrew Mattox says:

I agree with michelyns statement thatprivate Label is like a top shelf booze. Very masculine indeed. I enjoy sebastian’s take on how the strong and smoky the veviter is in this fragrance.

  • rzetelskik says:

I agree with both Michelyn and Sebastian. Private Label is an extremely bold and masculine fragrance. The booziness does indeed bring up an association with Mad Men. As usual, Sebastian’s review is spot on and for me, Private Label is also one of the favourites among other Jovoy perfumes.
    Warsaw, Poland, EU

  • I like how Michelyn implied that this is something from the Mad Men era. I enjoyed the enthusiasm Sebastian has for this fragrance. Cheers, from Oregon.

  • Jvazquez76 says:

Sebastian… Another great review. I had the pleasure of meeting you in NYC at ScentXplore 2019. You’ve influenced so much of my collection. I’m curious about this Jovoy house. I own many frags but none from their house. Thank you Cafleurebon for the giveaway. Good luck to all and please stay safe during this crazy time. Cheers! ~ Javi

  • patrick_348 says:

I liked the mystique that Michelyn created around the fragrance. Booze, cigarette smoke, and leather make it sound super decadent. I was intrigued by Sebastian’s comparing the two Jovoy fragrances that both used vetiver and patchouli notes, but then he said they were nothing alike. Although I wish he had gone just a little further to explain, I enjoyed the implication that the notes could be handled in completely different ways. In the US, in NC.

  • Michelyn’s amalgamation of booze, smoke, and leather created a scene that I could experience without even being there. Now I want bourbon – good bourbon!
Sebastian’s review of Jovoy Private Label, as with any review from him, holds one constant for me: I learn something new each time I listen to him. Thanks Sebastian!

  • Sebastian raves about Jovoy and for good reason. I have Les Jeux Son Faits by Jovoy which has that speakeasy vibe and it’s always well received. I only got to know that one by sampling through Luckyscent. Naturally, I’d like to smell them all. Private Label, Incident Diplomatique, and Pavilion Rouge are high on my list.

I don’t have any vetiver frags. I think I’d be set with this one. Also, I like that Michelyn says it’s not a throwback or a clone. Thanks for the reviews.

  • frixyminnow says:

“Girl boss” over here! I like the sounds of this powerhouse. Like the vetiver patchouli takeover Sebastian describes. Not sure what papyrus smells like but I hope to find out. I live in Berlin, Germany.

  • Oh boy, what a fragrance this seems to be. I like how Michelyn and Sebastian picture their experience wearing Jovoy Private Label. Being reminded of the luxurious feeling in a cigar lounge sipping good whiskey is completely in my wheelhouse. I can’t wait to get my nose on this masculine scent. I’m based in Florida.

  • Obviously if Sebastian drained his bottle dry, then Jovoy must be doing something right. I love the idea that this is a Don Draper fragrance. I’d like to sniff a throwback to the 60s, especially with a modern vibe. Loved the reviews and the generous draw. I’m in the USA

  • Hope to get a chance to try this and many of Jovoy fragrances. Enjoyed Sebastian’s review and can see he loves this House and enjoys this fragrance. Does sound masculine. Thanks for the giveaway, Ca

Sebastian’s review, and Michelyn’s introduction described PRIVATE LABEL exactly.
It is big ✔ bold ✔ sophisticated ✔masculine scent.
    very UNIQUE

  • as a fan of Man men and the era I really like that description, but also that the fragrance is a comtemporary take and not an outdated throwback. Sebastian’s reviews are always great. very entertaining and thorough.

  • I’ve had a sample of private label for a while now. I enjoy Sebastian’s enthusiasm for this scent, which is something that I too felt when I first used it. I like Michelyn’s comparison to mad men. I feel it fits the scent very well.

  • I’ve watched some of Sebastian’s other videos and was aware of how he loved Private Label. It sounds like an uber masculine fragrance and I’d be stoked to try it out. Michelyn’s intro is a nice complement also giving a little glimpse into the process leading up to Cecile’s creation of Private Label. Thank you for the review, the intro and the kind giveaway. I’m in USA

Scents like these remind me of my grandfather and my first experiences with shaving and men’s grooming ritual. Sebastian’s review and Micheyln’s intro paint the picture of a modern man’s power fragrance unlike what I currently have in my repertoire. Appreciate the opportunity for the giveaway. -Virginia, USA

  • According to Sebastian’s review, this is a very masculine smokey vetiver. I have smelled several clean vetivers so this one sounds exciting with its smokey twist. As for Michelyn’s words, it was great to read that she thinks it’s a classic, powerful boozy blend which a girl can absolutely rock. Usually, when a man says a perfume is definitely masculine and a woman says it can be worn by a woman with the proper attitude, the fragrance itself is brilliant. I would love to try it from the EU. Wish all to be safe and healthy.’

  • I loved learning about the introduction of Cecile Zarokian and how he started his company from scratch. It’s motivating.
Sebastian mentioned it doesn’t have a lot of notes but it’s really an intense intoxicating masculine fragrance. That caught my attention real fast because it’s what my dad would love to sample.
It’s bold and a little goes a long way.

Sebastian produces quality reviews on Youtube. His videos have assisted me in a few successful blind buys, such as Psychedelique also from the house of Jovoy. I am very glad to discover this blog through Sebastian, and would very much want to try Private Label especially when Michelyn claimed any “Girl Boss” would rock this. I may not be a boss but as a female I enjoy boozy and earthy fragrances a lot. Would love to rock this one!

  • Sebastian’s review was very informative. I do get a strong sense of the dominant notes in Private Label, and the strong vetiver, smokiness, which makes it very curious and my partner would love it. Sebastian mentioned San Francisco bars a few times, and since I’m from the Bay Area I really had a clear image what he what talking about. I like Michelyn’s comparison to Mad Men and mention of wood paneling (I have a strong imprint memory of childhood specifically of wood panel ling smell!). I would love to win this fragrance and know my partner would enjoy it so much. Thanks for the chance. Hello from California, USA.

I must say that I’m entirely intrigued by an ultra masculine fragrance that was created by a woman! I love Sebastian’s review in saying that this is vetiver and patchouli but not like how other ones are put together. I like how it’s a scene scent, instead of a scent in a scene. It sounds brilliant and powerful! It sounds like a fragrance that belongs in Atlas Shrugged. I live in New Hampshire USA. Thanks so much for this giveaway!

  • In his review I enjoyed Sebastian’s visualisation of San Francisco’s Redwood Room in the 1950’s and 60’s which in turn conjured a similar image in my mind of White’s gentlemen club here in the UK. I enjoyed Michelyn’s introduction as it set the tone for the rest of the review. The link to the interview with Cecile Zarokian was a nice touch, I love learning more about perfumers and their work. Thank you Jovoy Paris for having the draw, I hope your team and everybody else is doing alright, and that business won’t be adversely affected. I am from the UK.

  • Masculine scent with tobacco, leather and other notes makes me want to try Jovoy Paris Private Label. The fact that Sebastian emptied his bottle says highly of this perfume. Please stay safe in these uncertain times. Thanks for the reviews. Writing from USA.

  • Sunny Chaudhary says:

From Michelyn’s Introduction: It was to see how the editor managed to evoke a scene from the past and a fictional set in order to describe the experience of wearing this perfume.

From Sebastian’s Review: He got me very interested in the scent since he explained that it is a very masculine scent focusing on papyrus, vetiver, and patchouli.

  • Jovoy Paris really has a tremendous line-up of fragrances. One thing I found interesting from Sebastian’s review is the distinction of Cecile Zarokian’s work for the brand, with the names of her fragrances being done in English rather than in the customary French.. I also liked how Sebastian mentions the smokey vetiver, as this “flavor” of vetiver is more appealing to me. Michelyn’s introduction makes this fragrance even more intriguing when she stated that it is a rather contemporary scent instead of being an attempt at emulating classic, old-fashioned perfumes. Smokey, woody oriental fragrances are some of my favorite and it would be a pleasure to get a chance to try Private Label. Thanks for the review and the giveaway! I’m in Oregon, US.

  • Private Label I feel like it would be a bit rugged patchouli and vetiver fragrance, I hope I’ll get the boozy nuances Sebastian was talking about. Michelyn “top shelf booze” makes me want to try it asap.
Les Jeux Sont Faits is my favorite Jovoy. Underrated tobacco and rum gem I’m happy to have. Thank you

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Sebastian’s review of Jovoy Private Label. I love having bold, intense, masculine fragrances in my collection. A Vetiver, Patchouli, and Papyrus combo that sounds super masculine…in addition the smoky and boozy touches to add extra depth and appeal to the fragrance. It sounds like Cecile Zarokian and Jovoy really hit a homerun with Private Label. The fact that Sebastian went through an entire bottle of this fragrance and is on his second speaks volumes. I am from the USA.

  • I love patchouli and vetiver as well as old school men’s scents that last, as opposed to light and fresh fare that’s foisted by the designer houses.

  • I appreciated the way that Sebastian was able to provide a vivid description of this scent in a manner that managed to be detailed and yet concise while still managing to convey his enthusiasm without feeling scripted or contrived.

The perspective that Michelyn provided in her introduction added to the intrigue of what this perfume would have to offer, and helped me to envision similar types of moods and settings that I would hope to wear the fragrance during upon winning. I’m in IL, USA, and appreciate the opportunity.

  • fascinating! i like vetiver & identify w/the label of grrl boss. i enjoyed how many times sebastian said intense & smokey. amusement aside, it was intriguing when he mentioned how different patchouli & vetiver can b together

  • Please count me in for this one. I am a great fan of classic, unsweetened, non-citrus men’s perfumes and Sebastian promises this one to be very masculine and classy, with vetiver being the star. I am glad to see Michelyn’s impression coincides with Sebastian’s, with the promise of boozy, leathery, cigarette notes right from the 60’s. I am in the EU.

  • Up until recently, I was not aware of Jovoy fragrances. Checked them out, and boy oh boy I was so wrong with my “Maybe later” policy towards the house.
Remember Me is in my possession now, green tea, warm, spicy and lactonic. Must try fragrance ! My favorite Jovoy.
The complexity and macho man feel of Private Label intrigues me.
Thank you Sebastian for the review, Michelyn for the pub like intro , and Jovoy for the draw
    In US

  • Throwback fragrance , reminiscent of the 60’s ? Being an old soul I’d love to have Private Label.
About Jovoy I know one . Bought a sample of Incident Diplomatique because of… again Sebastian praising it all the time. Classy fragrance for special occasions. My girlfriend , and hopefully future wife bought me a bottle soon after
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign. USA

  • Jovoy Paris is by far the best fragrance boutique i’ve ever been to-no US boutique comes even close .
Private Label picks up the best from different era’s. I don’t find it utterly masculine, but like Michelyn said “any Girl Boss” could wear it , and to me every patchouli lover should get a sample.
    I had one.
Favorite Jovoy is Remember Me , but i do not own it yet . I have Incident Diplomatique .
    Thanks , fantastic opportunity.
Stay positive all of you !!!!

  • Just as Sebastian I have a particular image in my head when I smell Private Label: having a sip of Whisky while sitting in a leather chair at a Jazz club. It’s a very masculine fragrance indeed! But one that after its slightly harsh opening becomes quite smooth. It’s absolutely well-blended and natural smelling.

    Best wishes from Germany

  • petergigov says:

Earthy patchouli, lots of vetiver and . Pinch of booziness is always appreciated. Leather done right always twists the fragrance in a classy way.
I have not yet tried Jovoy fragrances, but make sure I’ll get a few samples . Mad Men was such a great series ( Peggy Olson with O)
    Thanks for the opportunity. USA

  • Sebastian’s review was great as always. He always describes the fragrance in a way that I can almost smell the notes myself. I’m so curious about this scent as I am a huge patchouli and vetiver lover.

Michelyn’s description of the top shelf booze with Don Draper set the scene for me and now I truly think I will love this scent.

  • Jovoy Private Label is such an opulent scent. Sebastian’s review of Jovoy Private Label makes him one of my favorite fragrance youtubers of all time.
While I agree the dark vetiver and patchouli make this super masculine, I want to wear this myself and I’m a female! I think I’ll agree more with Michelyn that any “girl boss” can wear it. I do love my top shelf booze and cigars.

Love Sebastian review. The idea of Papyrus in a fragrance is very intriguing to me. I haven’t had the pleasure of smelling any of the Private Label fragrance yet but base in what I have read in this article and in what I have heard from Sebastian video, this one is another masterpiece and a great addition to any fragrance collector and enthusiast. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this giveaway. I’m commenting from Orlando, Fl. Stay healthy.

In basketball Michael Jordan is wildly considered to be the GOAT , greatest of all time.
In our beloved fragrance world, Jovoy Paris is what Michael Jordan is to NBA, the epitome of niche fragrances knowledge, and service like no other.
It’s a sad news they had to shut down.
“I smell top shelf booze (amber, vetiver, papyrus-depends what you are drinking), cigarette smoke, the leather of the bar stools and wood paneling.”
Exactly what I get from Private Label, with the small note I’m a teetotaler, and can’t distinguish well “top shelf” and regular booze
From Jovoy as a brand i do own full bottle of the famous Les Jeux sont Faits – fantastic night out scents. One of the best out there-to me at least.Remember Me i also own.
    @cafleurebon , @lookfeelsmellgreat @jovoyparis i already follow . I also follow the other 2 Jovoy boutiques I’ve been to.@jovoymayfair and @jovoyuae

  • I love the Don Draper reference in the introduction. These are the kinds of scents that I really dig.

I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews. I love his description of the private clubs in San Francisco and how this scent would fit right in with the men in the back smoking their cigars and sipping their whiskey.

I’ve never had a chance to sample any of Jovoy’s offerings; I’d love to win a bottle through this giveaway.

Jovoy Paris is such a prestigious brand and is highly regarded in the fragrance community! Private Label is the only fragrance from the brand that I have had the pleasure to smell, and boy what a smell it is! I received a sample of Private Label a year or two ago when I placed an order with Luckyscent. I absolutely love Private Label and everything it is about. Sebastian, as I have said before, has exquisite taste and I generally share the same taste as he does. I love how not only he, but Michelyn, associate Private Label with a bar…. I can, without a doubt see that! That almost makes you think as if it were the brief on the scent. Michelyn killed it with the Mad Men scene and the picture she used is PERFECT for Private Label. If I had to pick a scene/picture to go with the scent, I could not have done any better! Thank you Sebastian, for your wonderful review on Private Label! I also love how you have already gone through a bottle…. that is saying a lot about this scent with the number of bottles you have! Stay safe Sebastian! Thank you to Jovoy Paris for this amazing opportunity! This is greatly appreciated! I hope you guys are doing well with everything going on in the country and I hope you guys are keeping safe! Thank you, as always, to Michelyn for putting this all together and bringing us this content! I hope you and your family are staying safe in these troubling times! Sending safe comments and love from Delaware, US! Good luck to all and stay safe everyone!

  • My favorite part about Sebastian’s review was the vivid imagery he paints to help the viewer understand the fragrance. Love the sound of booze + vetiver and birch from Sebastian and Michelyn’s pieces. Thanks for the giveaway, im from the USA.

I loved sebastians review because it gave so much information about the fragrance, and the passion he has bursts out of the video and fills meh room! The notes like patchouli, papyrus and Vetiver are so up my street! This scent is perfect for me! Thanks for the opportunity to smell this beauty!

  • I hope you are doing well with all this going on. I first heard about Jovoy couple of years ago because of Sebastian, Smelling Great Fragrance Reviews, Since then I was able to get Incident Diplomatique and PSYCHEDELIQUE I did sample of Jovoy Private Label and I loved it at first sniff I wanted to own a bottle but it has been back-ordered every time I want to get it, Who knows if I’m destined to win this wonderful giveaway. Greetings from Canada. Stay Safe and always smelling great. @sr.fragrancia

  • I enjoy Sebastians review a lot he is very enthusiastic with what he does. Waching his review is like you discovering the scent among with him he doesnt force his opinion to you. Private label seems to be a very musculin scent which id like to get since i enjoy vetiver – patchouli combos. Cheers from Europe Greece

The reason I come on youtube is to watch fragrance reviews done by Sebestian. He is the reason that I am into fragrances now. I used to wear deos only. I did not know anything about perfumes but now I know. The perfumes he suggested through his videos, I have purchased them and people around me also purchasing them. There is no store to buy jovoy perfumes in New Zealand. But, some how I managed to get incident diplomatique and whenever I wear that, people ask me what I am wearing and it has happenes almost everytime I wore it and I really want to win private label bottle giveaway, so that I can make people in new zealand aware of this brand. Love you Seb.
