INFINIMENT COTY PARIS “A Salute to the Future” + From Dawn to Dusk Giveaway

Maison Orveda and Infiniment Coty Paris boutique New York

Maison Orveda and INFINIMENT COTY PARIS boutique

While photographing stores on Madison Avenue’s Upper East Side for my ÇaFleureBon Guide to Perfume Shopping in New York City in 2024, I fortuitously found the stylishly designed Maison Orveda boutique, which Coty opened for the French biotech skincare brand. The boutique has an immersive room dedicated within the new multi-level space for the Infiniment Coty Paris Collection. The boutique opened in September, and while it has been flying below the radar, my guess, not for long. This is not a store in the traditional sense. more of an installation crossed with a gallery. To highlight the Infiniment Coty Paris collection, a room within the boutique is set up to experience it. Outsized sculptural flowers emit the collection’s fourteen distinct perfumes through an innovative diffusion method. A separate room displays the collection and corresponding art. The two-story New York boutique has a dedicated lounge area, a product space, and a grand staircase that leads up to an event space that can accommodate masterclasses, art exhibits, and host private events.

While Coty Inc. is an American multinational beauty company, the love for Paris is apparent, naming the new collection INFINIMENT COTY PARIS. The collection was launched at their first global pop-up in the Marais district of Paris which was created and debuted in March of 2024. The location “will be open until the brand finds a space that could be a permanent fit,” according to Coty’s communications department. Since that press announcement, I’ve been advised that the current location might become the permanent location.

Give a woman the best product you can make, present it in a perfect bottle of beautiful simplicity and impeccable taste, ask for a reasonable price, and you will see the birth of a business the size of which the world has never seen.” -Francois Coty

Fragrance aficionados associate COTY with vintage perfumery. And rightly so. Founded in Paris in 1904 by François Coty, the Coty name has been one of, if not the most venerated, in perfumery. Monsieur Francois Coty (born Joseph Spoturno) is revered as the grandfather of modern fragrances. He created masterpieces of olfactory art, including Chypre and L’Origan, which are considered to be some of the most influential fragrant compositions ever. He is credited for creating the chypre category. Coty was the first perfumer to commercialize scents made with both natural ingredients and synthetic components—a practice contemporary perfumers follow to this day. And he is credited with creating modern perfumery when he invented and energized what perfume packaging is today. An example of that is his partnership with Baccarat and Lalique to create perfume bottles at a time when perfume bottles looked similar and had a pharmaceutical appearance.

Coty, despite not releasing a fragrance in over sixty years, has prospered as the licensing agent for forty brands, including Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Boss, Burberry, Gucci, and many others. So now Coty has decided to return to their French roots, not to dwell on the past, but to salute the future. They celebrated their 120th anniversary last year by launching a new chapter with the highly awaited fragrance brand, INFINIMENT COTY PARIS. There will be other boutiques launched in other countries, and other outlets will be carrying the Collection.

The collection was conceived by Sue Nabi, Coty’s CEO, and Nicolas Vu, with whom she previously founded the premium skincare brand Orveda, licensed to Coty. Regarding production, INFINIMENT COTY PARIS is the first collection to be manufactured entirely with 100% alcohol derived from carbon emissions captured through a bio-fermentation process. The line is made up of four elements: concentrated perfume, purified water, alcohol, and a process called “molecular aura”. The patent-pending formula is designed to modulate the evaporation of olfactory molecules, releasing the top, heart, and base notes all at once, which extends the signature scent of each perfume up to 30 hours by blending synthetic and natural ingredients. All but one of the fragrances are 20% concentration. Each of the 14 INFINIMENT COTY PARIS perfumes has a molecular aura and was built from Nabi and Vu’s African and Asian roots, memories, and inspirations, following Coty’s three-pronged approach to fragrance: scientific performance, emotional connection, and sustainability. This collection of fourteen fragrances is divided into three phases, from the freshest to the most intense accords: I am Dawn, I am Day, and I am Dusk, aiming to cover a broad olfactory spectrum. Each fragrance is linked to a specific emotion, including sensuality, pleasure, tenderness, self-esteem, and more.  Released on March 2nd, 2024, to the French public, INFINIMENT COTY PARIS has also been strategically understated. This is a collection for the long run.

Pillard bottles

The Pillard bottles come in crisp white packaging shaped in the letter “I,” designed by Vu. Broken into three categories (I am Dawn, I am Day, and I am Dusk), the brighter, more intimate notes of the Dawn and Day perfumes transition to something deeper and more sensual as they flow to Dusk. Noir Ences and Encore Une Fois are Nabi’s favorites in the collection.  What I love is that the refillable bottles can be stacked together to create a canvas for innovative artworks. The practice is called “artcycling.” This focus on art led to an ongoing partnership with the 1-54 Art Fair, an annual event showcasing contemporary African Art in London, New York, and Marrakech.

Sue Nabi and Nicolas Vu'

And while it would have been convenient for Coty to have looked to the past for inspiration, I give Coty kudos for moving into the future with this collection. I decided to focus on three of the fourteen in the collection for a review. Not necessarily my three favorites, but three that best represented each of the three categories

J'AI TROIS AMOURS COTY

INFINIMENT COTY PARIS I am Dawn J’ai Trois Amours (Alberto Morillas & Honorine Blanc): Olfactory family: Fruity floral / Main ingredients: Banana flower accord – Trio of jasmine 20% concentration / Medium Aura* – lasts up to 30 hours

As this is a Dawn scent, it is fashioned to be light and graceful. There’s a bouquet here that underscores an aroma of fragrant, fruity, aromatic, and woody scented notes that are at once sensual, natural, and elegant. While banana and jasmine are not considered olfactive siblings, they do share some olfactory similarities. Jasmine has a sensual, musky undertone and is a complex floral scent, while banana is a simple, fruity scent. So, they make a good contrast that works beautifully. An elegant Chypre, though not a classic Chypre. It gives off a bit of that sophisticated, special occasion vibe. Inspired by Josephine Baker.

Infiniment Coty Paris Entre Genres

INFINIMENT COTY PARIS I am Day Entre Genres (Nathalie Lorson): Olfactory family: Musk overdose / Main ingredients: Trio of musks – Tangerine 20% concentration / Intimate Aura* – lasts up to 30 hours

You love musk? No? Step off. Yes? Well, join me in exploring Entre Genres’ three-pronged musk attack. Too much musk? So, what will cool the musk? A frizzante of tangerine at the top. Don’t believe I’ve encountered them together like this. I find the fragrance balanced between bold and elegant, calming and relaxing. And, bewitching due to the white blossom. And there’s a greenness from the tea that keeps it in check. The parting musk leaves a sensual warmth. Overall, well blended. I’m loving it.

INFINIMENT COTY PARIS Apres l'Amour

INFINIMENT COTY PARIS  I am Dusk: Après L’Amour (Fabrice Pellegrin): Olfactory family: Aphrodisiac ambery / Main ingredients: Tobacco accord – Cistus labdanum 20% concentration / Intense Aura* – lasts up to 30 hours

There is a saying, The Night Time Is the Right Time. Well, this sexy nighttime amber has red lipstick written all over it. Smoky, sweet, and sensual, this feminine-leaning fragrance blends a striking tobacco note with a vivacious ginger in a way that gives off a mysteriously elegant dimension to it. The labdanum closes the whole affair with an affectionate hug that speaks of warmth and charm. Careful, you might lose your heart over this one.

  • I did enjoy reading about the four elements and the “molecular aura” process. Want to experience all the notes at once. Not sure about the full bottle part of the prize as we weren’t asked to choose one. US

  • Theresa Solomon says:

These bottles look amazing and the scent notes aren’t bad either, I truly enjoyed this great read about fragrances there’s no where to click to choose which one I would love to win!

  • What great insight into these great fragrances and the technology used in making them. I’ve smelled two of this great collection Entre Genres and Encore Une Fois. They are both beautiful and I would love to experience the rest of the collection.

  • Melissa K says:

I didn’t realize it had been so long since Coty had released a fragrance. This collection has the makings of an amazing range of scents! I believe I could fall in love with several of these! And 30 hours of performance?! What kind of magic is this?! Kentucky USA

  • I loved the essay, I appreciate that he chose 1 fragrance from each phase. Like he said, that best represents it, not necessarily his favorite. I loved the venue descriptions, flowers that smell like the fragrances. The fact that it’s 20% and lasts 30hrs, is great. Since I live in California, and summer heat is upon us.

  • Ramses Perez says:

INFINIMENT Coty has made a comeback and in a very big way! This new collection seems to cater to all the tastes and flavors one can find out there. Hernando hit it out of the park in giving us a taste of each one and making us crave testing them out. I also have to point out the concentration on all of these fragrances as they are super strong and highly concentrated. A great article and a great way to dive into Coty. I’m located in the USA.

  • vanessako says:

Great read into the deep rooted history of Coty. Tbh, I didn’t know how far back Coty went back in perfumery but it’s nice to know their comeback was well thought out and made modern. I enjoy their line. My fave is noir Encens. I would love to try all. I reside in Virginia, USA.

  • Eris.can.swatch.kaos says:

This house has a glorious history that I’m super interested in reading more about. I think the perfumes I’m most intrigued by are Encore Un Fois and Or de Moi. I’m both a fan of vanilla, as well as of green scents and tuberose. Every one sounds delightful to me and I’d absolutely love to try them all out in this kit. Excellent review! I live in Oregon.

  • Hernando’s essay gives a great backstory on Coty and the new age direction they are seeking to honor the brand and elements it pioneered. These all sound so fantastic and would love to experience each.live in NY, USA good luck everyone

  • I will give them credit. There’s a lot to admire here with the innovation with captured carbon alcohol and the attempt to bring molecular aura into the industry. That’s the kind of science-fiction I imagined as a kid in the ’80s, only now it’s coming out of a fragrance atomizer. I do wonder what it will smell like because right now I feel like it’s a chemistry experiment with good PR.

    I’m in the US.

  • Jessica Zachary says:

Thank you for such a comprehensive introduction to this storied brand. It’s amazing to hear how a brand with such a history is using the most advanced technology to innovate. I have never experienced fragrances lasting 30 hours so that is compelling too! Would love to test out this set, in Texas, USA.

  • I loved the history lesson on Coty, the mini chemistry lesson ” molecular aura”…wow, and the understanding how they have taken a forward-looking approach with Infiniment Coty Paris. It is clear that this is so much more than a business for some people. This sounded so much like passion personified in fragrance, art and lifestyle. Plus…30-hour scents are no joke! I would love to visit when next in NYC. Congratulations.
    Vaughn living in Texas.

  • jessiezack says:

What an amazing dive into a storied house. I loved hearing that a brand with such history is so innovative. The concept of perfumes devoted to dawn, day and dusk is intriguing and so is smelling a whole day unfolding through them. Thank you,

first off, i appreciate the link to the perfume shopping guide to nyc! i didn’t know cafleurebon published those every year– this is going to be super helpful for planning my next trip to nyc.

as for hernando’s essay, omg, i found these reviews to be so cleverly written. for example, i’m not a fan of musk, but the review does make me want to try entre genres just to see how infiniment coty did their twist on “musk overdose”
and i am quite curious about the smoked leather note in atomes crochus– i’m used to smoke & leather notes, but not “smoked leather”… just hoping it doesn’t come off as smoked meat to my nose…….!!

    thanks from the USA

Lovely composition. I appreciate that he chose 1 fragrance from each phase. Like he said, that best represents it, not necessarily his favorite. From PA,USA

  • rhuynh2005 says:

wow…I’ve never heard of Coty and I didn’t know they partnered with Baccarat and Lalique. What interest me the most is their process of molecular aura which can give the fragrance last up to 30 hours. This sample kit has very interest notes. I would like to sample them.

I enjoyed reading about the brand from the essay. I found out later through online searches that it’s unique in a sense. I love the range and the approach covering the olfactory spectrum.

  • I would love to have this collection. Encore Une Fois is one of the absolute best vanilla fragrances I’ve ever smelled. I always enjoy reading about the history of these long standing historic houses. Noir Encens is the one I most want to get my nose on that I haven’t yet from this collection. I find it very interesting that the entire collection is inspired by Asia and Africa as most of my favorite fragrances seem to be inspired by these regions. Great article and I love seeing a historic house not relying on just playing the hits and having a focus towards the future. Also the bottles are gorgeous. Simple with an understated elegance. I’m in the USA.

  • redwheelbarrow says:

Wow! This was such an interesting read! Where do I start? I didn’t realize Coty invented Chypre! And the shop in NYC is on my list of places to visit next time I’m in the city, I hadn’t heard of it before. I’m so interested in the process of using carbon emissions and then allowing the layers of notes to emerge at once. This is so fascinating! And the idea of the collection of fragrances through each stage of the day is such a great idea. This was a great review! Thanks for the draw. From the US.

  • Jeffrey F says:

This is a fabulous collection and the design and scents are so unique and beautiful. I’ve been trying to sample them for a while after first seeing them in London Liberty department store and would be so grateful to have a full set! Live in NYC, USA.

  • DAISY PEREZ says:

I’ve heard a lot of YouTube influencers talk about these fragrances. Of course, I want to try them all. I suffer from FOMO….lol
I end up trying everything to make sure I have the best fragrances in my collection. I will need to all of these.
Coty is a well known as a multinational beauty company since 1904. Of course, I trust what they put out.

  • Those INFINIMENT COTY PARIS flower diffusers are really cool—startlingly unique way to display fragrances and enjoy them. The lineup also has a ton of variety. I’m curious about the peppery Noir Encens and the brand’s floral leather, Atomes Crochus, and I appreciate how much effort went into coordinating the bottle design, storefront, and branding.

    I’m in the USA.

  • First, I appreciated the brief historical summation of the influence of Francois Coty on the perfumery industry, since although I was of course familiar with the brand name, I did not know how deep the history went.

The description of the ethos and practices of this particular line has me very interested – especially the derivation of the alcohol from re-captured carbon emissions (if only we could reverse climate change solely through the production of gorgeous fragrances!) and the new method of the “molecular aura” creation, with its resulting longevity.

I appreciated the succinct but comprehensive summation of the fragrances in this line and the three phases into which they are grouped. Sometimes I find new brand launches/multiple releases to be overwhelming and I just glaze over, but this article was a super helpful introduction!

  • Regis Monkton says:

As a fragrance enthusiast, I’ve certainly heard the name Coty before, e.g. I’m familiar with their long history, their early fragrance “Chypre”, and more. I’d like to become a lot more familiar with them, and I’d be very honored and excited if I got to win this Dawn to Dusk gift set. I’m very intrigued to try: Aristo Chypre and Noir Encens. I appreciated Hernando’s description of Sue Nabi’s goals for this collection. I live in the USA.

  • Jenna Park says:

I have to first say I like Cory’s 3 part approach to perfume scientific performance, emotional connection and sustainability. One of the biggest concerns for people purchasing a fragrance is performance. A fragrance can smell amazing but if it doesn’t last it can seem not worth the price. Cory’s formula designed to be long lasting says they are really trying to be innovative and a stand out brand. The way this piece was written highlights the brands selling points and gives the reader a taste of each fragrance with longevity included. I typically don’t see the lasting power of a fragrance. Cory seems to be starting with something for everyone. This essay makes me excited to see what this brand has of offer.

  • Hernando knocked this one out of the park. The way he described INFINIMENT COTY PARIS as an immersive gallery experience totally hooked me—I could visualize those sculptural flowers and practically smell the fragrances through the screen. Really appreciate how he dove into the creative nuances of each scent, especially his take on “Entre Genres” and its musk-tangerine combo. His essay was detailed yet breezy, never pretentious, and honestly made me want to run and check out the whole collection ASAP. Killer review!

    I live in the USA.

  • elainelovesperfume says:

The scents sound well thought out and beautiful. The essay highlighted Coty’s innovation in creating a formula that lasts 30 hours and coming out with a variety of scents. It’s clear they put a lot of thought and time into this launch. Coty is an established respected brand and they want to give the consumer quality, variety and innovation. I am intrigued by this essay. It really highlighted the brand and what they have to offer. I am very excited for try these scents and it really seems there is something for everyone.

  • I love the whole esthetic Coty is presenting. I appreciate Hernando’s attention to detail in this essay. The vivid description made me feel like I was in the boutique myself. I enjoyed reading about the history of Coty and helped me understand where they’re headed.

I am Day – Entre Genres is very intriguing. I can’t wait to smell the musk accord. Really excited about that fragrance. The gift box is beautifully presented. I would love to win this one! Thanks for the chance! In the USA

  • Loved the history here! Love the brand’s original intention, style and love that they are stepping out anew and creating fresh fragrance worlds! Everything about this is exciting! Thank you for sharing all of this. I do live in the USA.

  • Wow, what a fantastic “comeback” for Coty. I adore the theme carried through to the I designed bottles. How clever and understated. Some of the scents sound fantastic and I’d love to try them out. In maryland.

  • This was a fantastic article, to hear that Coty will now be making fragrances again! This is quite a lineup of scents! I sure hope they can be found more mainstream at places like Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom (or even Sephora). I’d love to be able to smell each of the creations. It’s hard to say which would be my favorite, but just by judging the notes, I love the sound of Encore Une Fois (from the I Am Day collection). The vanilla notes described along with spicy, warm and balsamic notes sound beautiful. If I were to win, I’d definitely choose Encore Une Fois as my full bottle choice. I live in the US.

  • Love this article. I had no idea of Coty’s long history but grew up with several and have even recently retried one of my childhood favorites as a vintage. The new collection sounds not only scent fascinating but I am also really intrigued by the new method of manufacturing. Most of these look like Must Try scents.

I loved the brief history on Francois Coty and the house. How he impacted the entire fragrance world and that it has been sixty years without a new release. I was also pleased to learn of the location in New York. I live in the USA.

  • absurdnose says:

Fascinating article! I had heard the name so often that I was not aware that they hadn’t released a fragrance in 60 years. I think I will be continuing to ponder how it’s possible to smell the top notes, heart notes and base notes all at once. I would love to see how these evolve with that kind of technology. My favorite description is of L’Amour Pourpre. I’m a sucker for a powdery lavender. Thanks for the drawing. I live in the USA. 🙂

  • FragranceIsMe says:

I’m loving the “Time of Day” inspiration for the categories of fragrances. So many of these creations are calling my name. They sound wonderful. However, there is one I absolutely cannot wait to get my nose on, Après L’Amour, the notes are quite appealing to me…and the performance, 30 hours?…Oh my GOODNESS! And I like the presentation, a 70ml bottle with an additional 140ml in samples. Stunning! 🙂

  • Coty has such a long illustrious history in fragrance. My first exposure was with Emeraude. It’s wonderful to see the modern, creative approach they are taking with Dsy, Dawn and Dusk scents. The packaging is gorgeous and the notes seem interesting. MD,USA

  • If I’m ever in NYC I will be sure to drop by and experience the scents in their native habitat! It was so interesting to hear about their new molecular aura design. All of the scents sound so lovely, but I, of course, am most interested in Soleil d’Ikosim or Noir Encens… but so may sound so interesting…I have never smelled banana flower. I also loved the quick history lesson on Coty. Thank you for the lovely review, for discovering and sharing such a wonderful place (store? Art gallery?) I’m in the US.

    Hi there,

This is outrageously wonderful, to read about the alcohol in these blends derived from carbon emissions. This is the kind of change we need to see more of in the world! The individual frangrances sound so beautiful; it would be hard to choose just one. Thank you so much for this story! I am in NYC/USA.

    Thanks again,

  • Thank you Hernando for this detailed journey into Infiniment Coty Paris and all these fragrances sound exquisite. I’m excited to see two creators of some of my most beloved fragrances two of my favorite perfumers in the list (Nathalie Lorson and Fabrice Pellegrin) and just from that this gives me a great yearning for that discovery set 🙂 Thank you Infiniment Coty Paris for the kind giveaway.
