Gallagher Fragrances O’Hello and Pearlescent Parfums TONKAZURE (Daniel Gallagher) 2023+ Original and Unique Giveaway

Gallagher Fragrances O’Hello and Pearlescent Parfums TONKAZURE by Steven

I recently read on Twitter, that a well-known perfume critic won’t be writing reviews anymore because everything is a “clone”. Clearly, he has never smelt any of Daniel Gallagher’s fragrances.

Before we get to Steven’s review of Gallagher Fragrances O’Hello, I want to give a big shout out to Daniel Gallagher and his wife Mindy Ruiz (Art and Olfaction  Award Aftel Award  Winner for Handmade Perfume for Behold Patchouli). The ceremony was at the World Perfumery Congress in Miami where I had the pleasure of meeting them. Daniel is the sole perfumer for both brands and  Mindy is the Operations Manager. Daniel is also an active duty Air Force Officer with plans to retire in 2029 and dedicate all of his free time to family, friends, travel, and of course, perfume.” Gallagher Fragrances O’Hello “had me at Hello” (Jerry McGuire, 1996 and right now is in the running for the best perfume name of 2023), an aromatic fragrance. What makes it special that the basil in the composition is cooling, and unlike other most other aromatics there’s no use of lavender. “it does not fit perfectly into any core olfactory genre, but instead straddles genres such as citrus aromatic, aromatic green, fougère, and woody floral musk.”

Here is what Daniel had to say about “velvetwood” used in Gallagher Fragrances O’Hello: “Velvetwood” is a simple accord I created made up of Ambroxan, Iso E Super, and Sandalwood, which to me, connotes more of a texture than a scent. Violet Leaf Absolute is one of the more expensive and labor-intensive perfumery ingredients due to its requirement for ~2,300 kilograms of violet leaves to produce 1 kilogram of Absolute

Featured Notes: Sweet Basil, Bigarade, Bergamot, Green Mandarin, Ginger, Neroli, Violet Leaf, Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Tuberose, Orris Butter, Velvetwood, Oakmoss, Patchouli, and Musk.

Pearlescent Parfums TONKAZURE: Officially launched in 2021, Pearlescent Parfums is a new brand in Daniel’s repertoire, and blends both Mindy’s and Daniel’s  scent styles. TONKASURE is a fruity floral, but so much more. It is thick without being overly sweet;  warm, resinous yet light and airy with a bright champagne accord. To me it smells like a posh picnic for two at sunset. Intimate and inviting leaning gourmand but sensual.  It is genderless and a guy could rock it as well.

Featured Notes: Champagne, Blueberry Compote, Blackcurrant, Rose Water, Iris, Neroli, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, Amber, and Musk.

Two brand new fragrances I know nothing about, beautiful! I can see the criticism that everything starts being a clone of everything else in the fragrance world but definitely not here. This new velvetwood note sounds very intriguing and a combination of notes I really love for Gallagher Fragrances O’Hello. In the case of Pearlescent Tonkazure, I do agree not all frótala are automatically feminine leaning, the combination of notes around it determines that. They both sounds quite unique and I’d love to win Gallagher Fragrances O’Hello. Cheers from NJ.

  • I had no idea that Mr. Gallagher was the nose behind both Gallagher and Pearlescent until I read Michelyn’s introduction. He’s certainly talented and the fact he does this while still serving in the Air Force is impressive. Thank you for your service, sir!

O’Hello sounds like an very interesting fragrance. Michelyn mentioned that the basil used in it has a cooling effect and makes it stand out from other aromatics. Steven mentioned it having an “island-like freshness” alongside some warmer, muskier wood tones. Very intriguing. I really like violet and am interested to see how it comes across in this one. Steven mentioned that it doesn’t have the gasoline-like scent that it is sometimes associated with. While I don’t mind the more petrol-esque types of violet, it has been popping up in a lot of scents lately so I’m happy to see it used in a different way. Overall, it sounds incredibly unique. The fact that Steven was not able to compare it to anything really says something. Theres too much of the same stuff out there and it brings me joy when truly unique fragrances pop up. O’Hello sounds like a real winner to me and though Tonkazure sounds lovely as well, I would have to go with O’Hello if I were to win. I live in NC, USA.

Hello Steven and Cafleurebon and Daniel Gallagher, Thank you for your generosity. I think both Fragrances sound Awesome and Amazing! Thank you that you don’t follow the mold of other houses and you are unique. Stay safe

  • O’Hello I’d for me. Look regarding Tonkazure I believe a man should smell like a man and a woman like a woman. Unisex fragrances are for teens. But to each his own.

  • Paul Stanley says:

Your content always seems spot on. Being a single dad with 2 kids it is very difficult to purchase good quality fragrances so I bought a bottle of SF Aqua Blue that is fantastic! Tough for me to blind but but it worked out. Keep up with the good content!

  • I have a tried a few fragrances from thus house, but I haven’t found one of interest. I would love Tonkazure. That’s sounds so exciting to try.

  • castlemicro says:

Hello from Florida! I’m following your Instagram from my account @castlemicro.

I enjoyed hearing both Michelyn and Steven’s thoughts on the two scents, and it’s clear that Mindy and Daniel are invested in offering novel takes on classic notes. Though both scents sound interesting, if selected I’d rather receive Tonkazure — I’m always looking for scents that manage to be warm as well as fresh.

  • fragrancelove says:

Gallagher is a great perfumer. Tried his patchouli before and it was superb. O’hello sounds like something new in aromatics. I also like that he started a new note that sounds great. Tonkazure sounds more like something I am interested in. It sounds incredible that it is thick but not sweet. Sensuality/gourmad/not overly sweet got me. Steven mentioned it was gender neutral with that blueberry note sounds incredible.

    Interested in Tonkazure

  • I always enjoy both Michelyn’s introductions and Steven’s video reviews, as they complement each other. From Michelyn’s introduction, i was quite surprised to learn that Daniel is an Air Force officer – generally one wouldn’t guess an Air Force officer to be a perfumer on the side. From Steven’s review it seems both these perfumes are wonderful, though I am more inclined to choose Gallagher Fragrances O’Hello, were I to win this draw. It seems Gallagher Fragrances O’Hello will be perfect for summer, due to it’s citrusy vibes. I love the presentations for both these perfumes. Thanks for the reviews and generous draws. I am a Redolessence subscriber and am in the continental United States.

  • From Michelyn’s opening I learned for the award won for Behold Patchouli. From the vid I found out that the Tonkazure is unisex. I’ll choose Tonkazure for the draw. US

  • chrisskins says:

As an O’chrisskins, O’Hello calls a bit louder to me. Basil is a note I’ve always loved, going way back to original Manifesto. Steven had me when he said there would be two camps, one for each fragrance. That said, this was a hard pick because I love a soapy perfume, too, but the aromatic wins by a nose. I live in NY.

  • Very descriptive review and introduction by Steven and Michelyn. Its interesting to see Iso E Super being used in a fragrance outside of the Molecule 01 fragrances and the others in the series. The comparison used for TONKAZURE to a posh picnic at sunset is very unique in both the description and the fragrance itself, and the blueberry compote sounds incredible, and if I had to choose one, I would pick Tonkazure as my choice. From TX, USA.

  • Nice I agree with the critic everything does smell similar to one another these days.

Love the review Michelyn. O’Hello sounds super complex. But for me I’d rather have Tonkazure. I like fruity florals.

Unique is what I take from Steven’s review. I do have my go to designers and niche which are common but I do lean for something different when I can.

I would opt to win Tonkazure.
Thanks for the giveaway from the USA

  • joshuabrian says:

Daniel being in the military and still cranking out great fragrance is seriously impressive. I love Steven’s videos. He’s always passionate and articulate. I’d have to go with the O’Hello if I were lucky enough to win. Thanks for the opportunity. From USA.

  • Thank you for the introduction! It was interesting that both Michelyn and Steven mentioned the lack of notes like lavender and clary sage in O’Hello, unique for aromatics. I also enjoyed Steven’s comparing and contrasting the two releases; it’s interesting he picked up more on the blackcurrant note in O’Hello than in Tonkazure! I’m also really impressed that Daniel Gallagher is able to run multiple perfume brands while serving in the Air Force.

I’d love to win O’Hello! I’m a Redolessence subscriber and @cafleurebonofficial follower; I live in New York, in the US. Thank you!

  • Ken White says:

According to Steven, O’Hello is an amazing violet leaf aromatic scent. That sounds exactly like what I’m after.
From the article, “it does not fit perfectly into any core olfactory genre, but instead straddles genres such as citrus aromatic, aromatic green, fougère, and woody floral musk.” Again these fragrance characteristics are what I’m after. I’d love to win O’Hello! New Jersey, USA

  • Jeremy Upshaw says:

Wow, these both sound like an amazing take on summer scents – I love the botanical, warm, island sensation that Steven says embodies the essence of O’Hello, but the fact that Michelyn says it has the aura of a cooling basil leaf is what really won me over – as an Orthodox chanter I’m always greeted by basil plants on the steps of the church and it’s one of my most favorite, invigorating scents, so I often pluck a sprig and rub it on my collar.

Tonkazure sounds like an amazing juicy, fruity floral, which with the champagne and blueberry compote I would probably bathe in before bed, but O’Hello seems like my favorite that aligns more with my personality that I would wear for all occasions. Thanks Steven and Michelyn!

  • Alejandro says:

Very interesting the break note in O’Hello with that bergamot, orange blossom, neroli and oakmoss. It deserves a try. Shout out to Daniel Gallagher and Mindy congratulations.

  • John Michael Jones says:

Exciting to hear Steven say it’s hard for him to compare these to anything else. That’s saying a lot coming from him cause he’s a walking fragrance encyclopedia! These seem to be coming out at the perfect time! Warmer weather! I wouldn’t mind winning either but if I had to choose O’Hello! I live in Boston

  • Trinity33 says:

Gallagher fragrances is brand new to me and what an interesting backstory for the perfumer Daniel Gallagher as an active duty Air Force officer. As a lover of all things violet, I appreciate his use of the exquisite and expensive violet leaf absolute in O’Hello. I appreciate Steven’s admission that it was unlike any other fragrance he’s sampled before. I would love to try Tonkazure. MD, USA

  • Oh boy, I love Gallagher Fragrances since I tried Wicked Good. I think Daniel Gallagher is one of the greatest american perfumists out there.
O’Hello and Pearlescent look very promissing and great fragrances.
I think that I would choose O’Hello because of the champagne and lavender notes, I just love it and would love to try it.

  • JulieeCee says:

I appreciate Michelyn’s introduction to Daniel and Mindy’s scent styles, which is perfect for making you want to learn more to these two fragrances. And Steven’s video does just that, providing a really good idea of what the two are about. Based on both, I would choose Tonkazure, as I prefer all of its notes, especially champagne, over the “culinary” style of O’Hello, even though O’Hello is a nearly irresistible name. Thank you!

“What makes it special that the basil in the composition..”

There are so many cultivars , or if you prefer varieties of basil , over 100 , and some smell and taste so vastly different from each other. Some are similar to mint , some are very spicy and smell like cloves with pepper , there are also cinnamon and lemon like varieties, and the not so easy to find in US Thai basil with spicy-licorice like qualities.
I wonder in what basil direction goes O’Hello …
Michelyn and Steven co-review of Pearlescent Parfums TONKAZURE made me think of the famous Lemon Tendercake with Blueberry Compote . Making and later on eating the cake while on picnic , sounds fantastic.
Gallagher Fragrances do have some great gourmands , Rose All Dae and Mists of Time are in my collection.
I was thinking of sampling Chocolate Ganache Cake like Wicked Good anyway, now I’ll do together with Pearlescent Parfums TONKAZURE
TONKAZURE i prefer because of the more gourmand like qualities
Appreciate both co-reviews , and the giveaway campaign

  • Most aromatic fragrances do have a lavender note, so I would like to pick out the basil note in O’Hello. Steven mentioned it reminds him of an “island like freshness”. Thanks for another awesome review and draw. Mich USA

  • IvanVelikov says:

I’m so impressed by Daniel Gallagher life journey , from Active Duty Air Force Officer , to perfumer , business owner, and dedicated family member.
O’Hello and TONKAZURE I’ll have to explore no questions asked, I just want to add that I respect people who know what they want in life, and most importantly how to achieve their goals . Being independent nowadays is admirable.
From Gallagher Fragrances I only know Amongst Waves , his other project Pearlescent Parfums I still haven’t tried.
I wish i was able to win both O’Hello and TONKAZURE , but if I should choose one, it would be TONKAZURE . I like clean fruity fragrances, with not juvenile sweetness.
Thank you Daniel Gallagher, Michelyn and Steven

Thank you for the lovely reviews Michelyn and Steven! Both wonderful insights to a perfume house I have heard nothing of before but would love to get my nose on!
I have been wearing Vilhelm’s Basillico and Felinni as of late and it has made me realize how much I love the note of basil in perfume, which leads me to be very curious about Gallagher Fragrances O’Hello. And so interesting, this created accord of Velvetwood. I love how this accord adds a texture rather than simply a scent to this perfume.
On the other hand, Tonkazure sounds very special as well. Fruity florals have my nose in delight lately as well. And I am happy to hear that its sweetness is balanced by its champagne accord to add a light and airy breath into this perfume.
That note of Blueberry compote sounds divine.
Both sound fabulous, but I feel O’Hello would be more of an expression of myself.
    Thank you Steven and Michelyn!

  • I love that O’Hello is sage-free. While I am often intrigued by aromatic fragrances, like Steven, I often find sage (and anise, though that wasn’t specifically mentioned,) to be a bit heavy-handed in the formulation. Michelyn’s tidbit about the 2,300 to 1 ratio of violet leaves required to make violet absolute is fascinating! My first experience with a strong violet leaf note was Sous Le Toit De Paris by Atelier Cologne, and I really liked it. It would be a delight to try O’Hello, should I be the lucky winner 🙂
    Thanks for the generous draw.

Thanks for the nice review Steven.

It was very cool to read about both these fragrances. I did not know about Pearlescent Perfumes.

I love the sound of O’Hello! It’s a beautiful sounding scent, and I find it’s ability to straddle multiple perfume families and be aromatic, without the use of lavender or clary sage quite intriguing.

I would love to be able to get a nose on it.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Thanks for the intro, Michelyn—I’ve tried quite a few Gallagher and Pearlescent perfumes, but I didn’t know much about the folks behind them. Both of these new Gallagher and Pearlescent release sound interesting, but O’Hello seems like a particularly unique aromatic perfume that I’ll probably enjoy more. I love the smell of basil, but I haven’t encountered it in fragrance often. Daniel’s description of his “velvetwood” accord caught my attention immediately; interesting how it brings more texture to the fragrance than scent. Stephen pointed out that O’Hello also has a combination of herbal, cooling freshness and muskiness. Speaking to Tonkazure, I liked Steven’s description of it smelling like a “very expensive soap”; that’s a certain kind of clean, light fragrance that is very calming. Very detailed review.

I’m in the midwest, USA. Should I win the giveaway, I’d love the bottle of Gallagher Fragrances O’Hello. Thanks!

  • I was eagerly awaiting Gallagher’s two new releases since I learned of them. I am very excited to try both of them. I love the inspiration behind O’Hello, particularly the name. The sweet basil, violet leaf, and orris butter are particularly appealing to me. I love how Steven mentions that the violet leaf is very smooth and that it also comes across as musky. Cooling fragrances are really appealing to me right now, as well. Tonkazure sounds very delicious; I love tonka bean. I’m even more excited to try this one after reading Michelyn’s comments about it being an inviting gourmand but sensual. Also, I’m glad Steven pointed out that it’s light and fluffy. I would love to win a bottle of Tonkazure but I can’t wait to test O’Hello, too. Thank you, Michelyn and Steven, for your great reviews, and thank you to Daniel Gallagher and Mindy Ruiz for the generous giveaway. I am located in the USA. Also, I follow CaFleureBon on Instagram- my IG name is scented_savannah (Scented by Savvy).

  • Great written introduction by Michelyn as I really love her descriptions of Daniel Gallagher’s O’hello &*Tonkazure scent profiles and in such a manner that gives an occasion to wear, “…smells like a posh picnic for two during a sunset” Stephen reviews of these fragrances was exceptional with his very detailed take of them during his assignments. I would truly love to win Tonkazure if lucky. Thanks for this giveaway! Greetings and happiness from the USA!

  • I found out about Gallagher Fragrances here, on Cafleurebon, I do like chocolate fragrances, I when I read The Best American Indie Perfume giveaway article from Michelyn, and watched Steven’s video, I had to order a sample , and later on a bottle of Wicked Good. Quite alluring, modern take on chocolate fragrance , smells like very expensive hand made Belgian chocolate, so realistic. Strictly cold weather through , I’m so happy to have it in my possession.
In O’Hello I like the velvetwood accord Daniel Gallagher made , and the violet leave information.
TONKAZURE i find more appealing, it is less sweeter than Wicked Good, more carefree, and with “a bright champagne accord” too
I’m sold on 100% ! I need to try the free spirited TONKAZURE as soon as possible . I rarely drink nowadays..unlike in my younger days, but once in a while I can do one or two cocktails with a good company .
    Thanks for the draw

I do genuinely believe I’m one of the earliest adopters of Daniel Gallagher Fragrances , it was 2016 when I discovered his work, when I watched Steven and Carlos video on YouTube, reviewing the very first releases … sorry for the off-topic , but RIP Carlos aka Brooklyn Fragrance Lover .
Time sure flies , and I still keep my empty oval shaped bottles of iLoreN and Bergamust .
Other than his fragrances of course, there’s something about Daniel Gallagher i really like, his approach to customers. From the first order, to the second reworked version of Carpe Cafe , to Baklava he’s always been not only helpful, but always taking his time , making me feel I’m a part of his inner circle, and not some random customer.
I’m familiar with all but O’Hello and Tonkazure Gallagher Fragrances, including discontinued ones , and his side project Pearlescent Parfums .
If I have to rate my favorite ones available on the market right now , counting Pearlescent Parfums :
    1. Rosé All Day
    2. Carpe Cafe , the second, reworked version. Again Daniel explained me on Instagram the differences between the two versions
    3. Wicked Good / Baklava
If i can include the discontinued Gallagher Fragrances, my favorite 3 would be:
    1. Rosé All Day
    2. Original Carpe Cafe
    3. Peaches and Campfire , unfortunately I’ll never forget how bottle was stolen from me , the second fragrance ever stolen from me, together with Cafleurebon and 4160Tuesdays collaboration White Queen.
I never saw Jerry Maguire, O’Hello is throwback to the classics aromatic with no lavender.
I’m a strict teetotaller, but boozy accords I like a lot . I like how Tonkazure is well blended, and not some random linear fruity floral. No champagne for me , but the idea of posh picnic is quite appealing to me , Tonkazure would be my choice .
    All profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

After reading Michelyn’s review, I’m very interested in trying these fragrances from Gallagher Fragrances and Pearlescent, respectively. Also, I appreciate Michelyn’s mention that their fragrances are unique, and now I feel like I should start sampling their fragrance releases. I’m very interested in trying the herbalness and the violet leaf absolute in “Ohello”, so if I win, then I’d choose that one. I appreciate how Steven emphasized that the basil in “Ohello” is prominent and pleasant, so that confirmed my choice of which one of the two I’d choose. I live in the U.S.A. Props to Daniel Gallagher for his dedication , and determination , being pefumer , husband , friend and not to mention active duty Air Force officer is admirable .
I like the contrast between the O’Hello and TONKAZURE duo .
Michelyn and Steven painted a tempting olfactory image in my mind of being on vacation on a tropical island. During the day exploring the lush green jungle with O’Hello, and at nighttime having a party by the pool with TONKAZURE , and modified version of Kir Royale cocktail in my hand . Wondering idea by the way, I love such cherishable moments, and joyful fragrances.
Michelyn made me do it, at least a little bit 🙂 , so I’ll treat myself now with slightly modified Kir Royale, Cheers everyone

i enjoyed learning from Michelyn’s written introduction that the basil in the composition is cooling rather than herbal resulting in a fragrance that “straddles genres” instead of fitting perfectly into any core olfactory genre. That sounds very unique which is always appreciated by me in a fragrance. I thought Steven’s video was very thorough as always and I really enjoyed how he described Pearlescent Parfums Tonkazure as a real “gender bender” – being perfectly gender neutral despite being strong in the floral focus that most people thin of as being feminine. I love fragrances that can be worn by men and women and play with gender roles so this makes me very interested to try Tonkazure. if I were to win I would choose Tonkazure! I live in the US.

It’s reminded me that I have a number of releases to catch up on, including O’Hello, Septamber, O’Vert and Mists of Time. I see Pearlescent Baklava too which shall have to be sampled! I blew through my sample of Fineapple a few years ago and remember that Rose All Dae was my favorite and most memorable release of the year when it came out. Excited to try more!
