Gallagher Fragrances Mists of Time review

Gallagher Fragrances Mists of Time and collage by Nicoleta©

Gallagher Fragrances Mists of Time felt like taking a trip through different colored rooms of an ancient temple, feeling the powerful sublimated essence of the mighty sun, filtered not through crystals but various color-coordinated olfactive ingredients. Who said healing has to be introspective and moody? This is one joyous, effervescent and uplifting rite of passage into something good, the kind of good that transcends time and cultures and we seem to be somehow pre-programmed to recognize it as such and long for it.

Color therapy is one of the oldest branches of medicine, being practiced even before 2000BC. In Egypt, at the root of the practice was the worship of the sun, and by concentrating the rays of light through colored crystals on the body of the person in need, they believed they could directly help the healing process. The Egyptians had temples dedicated in their entirety to healing through the light, having different rooms assigned to the healing powers of different colors. In nowadays, there are two techniques in using color therapy: one, the most common, is done just by looking at the color in the hope it will trigger the desired outcome, and the other is by reflecting certain colors on different parts of your body. How about a third way?  A memory box of colourful olfactive memories?

Throwback to a tangy and sweet creamsicle, eaten on the beach, at sunset, with sticky hands. The shadows of the evening are getting longer and the sun has the orange hue that immediately tells you that august is here, and that means summer has begun its countdown to autumn. But there is still time, you must make the best of it! You order one more Mandarin Crush cocktail, and inhale its fizzy sizzle, as you gulp it down. Time for another endorphin kick! A naughty swirl of lemon peel sticks out in the air, decorating a fancy piece of desert, the kind that has the perfect slice of candied orange stuck on top of the scrumptious vanilla cream filling.

Ingredients & possible side effects: Yellow (limes & bergamot – will improve your mood and make you more happy and optimistic) & Orange(candied orange &mandarin– will help you surface happy emotions, will stimulate appetite and mental activity).

Black currant fragrances

I absolutely love to wear black currant in summer, as Jo Malone’s Blackberry & Bay has been a staple of my summer wardrobe for years. So I was more than delighted when, on the skin Gallagher Fragrances Mists of Time, immediately after the orangey goodness of the top notes, I was sliding on the deep blue slide of the blackcurrant. And it smells right the way blackberries taste: deep, juicy, bruising your taste buds with violet and purple yumminess, summoning the aura of a forest on your skin.  The blue mauve coolness fades into more neutral and warm nuances, varying from beige to deep browns, and alternating them with deep greens and earthy olives. We slide between light wood nuances from birch and cedar all the way to the dark and olive green of cypress, with patchouli adding even deeper hues. We switch and alternate between textures of fuzzy suede and rough leather and the sweetened corners of tobacco leaves.

It feels calm and reassuringly empowering, like the silhouette of Clint Eastwood, with his iconic half-smile, putting out a cigar with the point of his cowboy boot. “We ride at dawn”

Like a flash of silver lightning, that constantly brakes the blue skies above, there’s an undercurrent of cool-toned mineral freshness that runs all the way through the fragrance, making it lift in the summer air and never be too much, too masculine, or too heavy. There is also another sweet, warm, ambery thread, unraveling from the top to the base notes, that comes from the sweet-deep-almost-bitter caramelized nuances of candied oranges, the creamy vanilla, the honeyed tobacco, all the way to the fluffiness and comfort of musk.  An awesome mix of bottled-up reassuring confidence, uplifting optimism, and overall good-mood-in-a-bottle,  Gallagher Fragrances Mists of Time is one fragrance to take into account this summer even if you are not a believer in color therapy or the mighty power of uplifting scent.

“I can see clearly now the rain is gone

I can see all obstacles in my way

Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind

It’s gonna be a bright (bright)

Bright (bright) sunshiny day” Jimmy Cliff song, 1993

I LOVE black currant. Anytime it’s used, I find that it’s a big hit. I have been wanting to smell some of this artists work for a while
Now. This one sounds like a home run

  • From the review, Mist of Time looks like a really zesty, fresh fragrance that employs not only citruses but also effervescent notes like black currant. It has a woody drydown so it may also be suited to colder weather. I am in US.

  • Mist of time sounds wonderful love the quote Mists of Time is inspired by happy memories, those of the past and of the future, but more generally, by time itself. The notes of Summertime ☀️into the Fall . Thank you for this Chance USA

The first Gallagher Fragrance in I got started with was Behold Patchouli. The award winner. I absolutely fell in love with this house. I was sent a sample of Mists of Time. This fragrance worked so good with my skin chemistry and the most important fact is that Mists of Time stands out. It’s unlike anything I’ve smelled. The zesty-to-floral development is so nice and smooth and the dry down is absolutely fabulous. I definitely can use a full bottle and with NYC heat and humidity, it’s gonna be the superstar.

  • LightOfJoy says:

Our environment and what our eyes take in certainly has an effect on us. I find it interesting that the notes chosen all have strong color associations. I’m interested to try anything with orange and patchouli, really. I find the orange uplifting and patchouli grounding, making them a wonderful combination in order to proceed forward in right alignment.

My favorite perfume of Gallagher’s is Amongst Waves. It’s so unique!

    I’m in Texas, USA.

  • The creamsicle description took me right back to my childhood. I remember the color, taste and experience of eating it vividly. I’d love to try any perfume that resembles it. ~Indiana, USA

Citrus forward with a multi-wood base. With the addition of tobacco, patch and vanilla, I feel the warmth of the oranges, greens and browns. The mineral note and black currant provide some coolness to the composition. Mists of Time sounds like an uplifting, effervescent summer scent. The bottle is to die for! I’ve never tried any Gallagher Fragrances before and I absolutely believe in the power of color to alter your mood. MD, USA.

  • Nicoleta!!! ❤️❤️❤️ What an energizing and lovely review!!! I’m very interested in experiencing Gallagher Fragrances, now especially Mists of Time!! I’m actually looking for this kind of bright happy fragrance at the moment (perhaps the universe is offering my answer)! ❤️ Thank you so much for your wonderful review and opportunity! USA ❤️

  • ajraccounts says:

hi! my interest was sparked by the description of how mists of time has both a thread of cool freshness and one of summery warmth running through it. that sounds fascinating. and yes, i do believe in color therapy, which is why i was curious to read this review in the first place. thanks!

  • I liked the description of candied oranges, creamy vanilla and honeyed tobacco notes. Sounds delicious. I’m a fan of Gallagher Fragrances and enjoy wearing Rose All Day. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff. Mich USA

  • I love Gallagher fragrances, they are one of my favorite U.S. brands and this is surely a masterpiece. I love that Mists of Time is inspired by happy memories and they surely will with the citrus notes.
Would love to try it myself.

I love colorful Nepalese handmade hoodies and bags, when I wear them, life feels sunny and bright, so yes, I do believe in color therapy. Black currant is one of my favorite notes in perfumery – Enchanted Forest and Gallagher’s Black Currant Silk are my favorite fragrances with this note.
I’ve just recently discovered Gallagher fragrances. First I fell in love with Rose All Dae, then – the famous Behold, Patchouli, even freshies I’m usually not a fan of, in Gallagher’s interpretation are somewhat special. If I had to name just one favorite Gallagher fragrance, that’s a difficult choice, but I think I’ll go with Rose All Dae, it’s my most recent obsession. Oh, and I absolutely love their fragrance names, they always make me wonder about the story behind it.
Thank you, Nicoleta, for this wonderful article, while reading it I could see with my inner sight splashes of various colors, and thank you for the chance to try Mists of Time! Candied orange, black currant and birch got me, now I must try this magical potion.

  • What sparks my interest is the whole notion of tying this to colors. So now I want to smell this offering. US

  • Based on the colors alone, this fragrance sounds beautiful. I like the combination of the warm and sunny with the cool and mineral. I have not tried any Gallagher but would love to! Thank you for the draw.

  • I like the Clint Eastwood reference! Color therapy sounds legit to me! I have not tried any Gallagher fragrances yet, but this one sounds amazing. NV, USA.

  • This was a cheerful review of a cheerful perfume. The use of colors for therapy and use of smells for therapy (aromatherapy) was fun to read about. And Mists of Time seems to offer both with a little use of imagination (visualizing oranges, mandarins, lime, birch, etc.) as Nicoleta did in her description. No experience with this brand so no favorites, yet, but based on the review I would love to spend my time with Mists of Time. Color definitely does have effect on our state of mind, hence also the body, so it definitely has therapeutic properties and potential. From USA.

Well, any fragrance that inspires images of Clint Eastwood and sounds of Jimmy Cliff gets my interest. Nicoleta’s review makes me expect something well designed, but not too serious or pretentious. Orange creamsicle to black currant to mineral/amber seems like great fun. I am in North Carolina in the USA.

  • redwheelbarrow says:

I have been waiting for a review on this one and it sounds amazing! I knew nothing of color therapy and loved this review! I suppose I use my own form of color therapy simply with the way I decorate my home with different colors in each room. The way you describe the slide through the color wheel with the facets of this fragrance were so fun to read. I love Rose all Dae and Behold Patchouli from Gallagher. Thanks for the draw, from the US.

  • Thanks for introducing this one. I am so demanding on fresh-summery perfumes while I need them so much in the heat of Texas. I am guessing this one is something different and new. Congrats to Gallagher Fragrances! I am in the US.

  • I’ve been very into colors since I was maybe a toddler. For the last two years I’ve been gravitating towards seasonal analysis but color therapy is also an interesting area I’d like to touch upon more. I have yet to try anything by Gallagher though I have meaning to get a sample of their chocolate perfume for a while. I love the name “Mists of Time”! I am always a fan of a good candied orange note. USA

  • I’ve enjoyed my sample of this Gallagher Fragrances perfume, and have reached for it a few times lately (it’s my favorite from their discovery set), so I was very curious to see what Nicoleta thought of it. I’m not familiar with color therapy, but Mists of Time indeed uses a colorful palette of oranges—ochre minerals, orange rind, the synthetic orange of candy, and pale orange sunset. This review really nails the progression from zesty, bright orange opening to a juicy, occasionally bitter heart—carried on a current of warm, fresh air and woody notes—all the way to a complex drydown. This is the Gallagher Fragrances sample that immediately spoke to me, and I hope this review gets more folks to try it.

    I’m in the midwest, USA.

  • I do like chocolate fragrances, I when I read The Best American Indie Perfume giveaway article , I had to order a sample of Wicked Good. Quite alluring, modern take on chocolate fragrance , smells like very expensive hand made Belgian chocolate, so realistic. Strictly cold weather through , but once the leaves are starting to fall, I’ll buy a bottle.
I rarely drink in a hot weather, but I’m all into creamsicles, mineral freshness with heavy dose of blackcurrant . Mist of Time is happy moments only fragrance.
    Thanks for the draw

This parfum sounds like a perfect summer scent! Always difficult to find something that sounds this lovely with the quality of Gallagher. Appreciate the givewaway offer!

  • IvanVelikov says:

I don’t exactly believe in the Color Therapy , but i do believe in creative people like Daniel Gallagher, who know what they want in life, and most importantly how to achieve all their goals .
From Gallagher Fragrances I own Amongst Waves , one if the best melon fragrances on the market , tropical and happy
Mists of Time has some of Amongst Waves markers, even though less sweet i imagine. I like the contrast between the sweeter cassis, candied oranges on one hand, and the tobacco, leather and cypress on the other , refined and elegant fragrance is what I’m expecting.
Thanks to Daniel Gallagher , Mindy Ruiz , and of course to Michelyn and Nicoleta

I love how Nicoleta tied the scent of this fragrance to the taste of blackberries, it really spoke life into the experience of this fragrance. It sparked my fondest memories of picking berries in my grandmothers garden… the magic nostalgia!!!

  • Haven’t tried any Gallagher fragrances would love to. Thanks for the review sounds lovely. US, Texas

  • Nicoleta’s review was very fascinating and evocative. I love how she related the note breakdown to specific colors. I often perceive images of colors as I smell fragrances and would defintely love to get my nose on Mists of Time for a much needed dose of color therapy, which I definitely believe in. There are so many great ones from the brand but my favorite is iloreN. Thanks for the giveaway! USA

  • What a beautiful r
    article, Nicoleta !!
Interesting idea behind the perfume- trip through different colored rooms of an ancient temple and color therapy!!
    Love blackcurrant note in perfumes.

  • Being a Pastry Chef, and die hard gourmand lover , I’m so interested in Mists of Time

“Time for another endorphin kick! A naughty swirl of lemon peel sticks out in the air, decorating a fancy piece of desert, the kind that has the perfect slice of candied orange stuck on top of the scrumptious vanilla cream filling.”

You want it, you got it, I can make you
Orange Mousse , with candied peel macerated in dark rum, vanilla Chantilly, cassis coulis, almond crumble and garnish it with two scoops of orange Gelato
Eating the Orange Mousse, while sitting on a beach right next to the coastal line is how I’d imagine Mists of Time
Gallagher Fragrances do have some great gourmands , Rose All Dae is in my possession
I highly appreciate the culinary reference in Nicoleta Tomsa review , and the giveaway campaign

  • Im not sure i do believe in color theory but i know certain colors can cheer me or depress me just as fragrances have the abilitiy to affect my mood. This review made Mists of Time seem very intriguing as a mood adjuster.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I believe that I would like this fragrance, and its list of notes is appealing to me. I like to hear that the fragrance smells like how the berries taste like. I live in the U.S.A.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the fun review, Nicoleta. Absolutely glad to hear that Gallagher won the A&O award this year.

This scent sounds like a really cool take on the concept of color palette. I love the colors, from comforting greens to energetic and uplifting orange. At some level, this reminds me of Terre de Hermes.

I haven’t had a chancec to sample this house, although Behold Patchouli is on my list.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • pau.nguyen says:

I LOVE candied orange and have not seen a fragrance that utilizes it, so this fragrance seem right up my wheel house!

  • I like the contrast in Mists of Time, between the different time-lines , the sea and the forest, the sweetness and the cypress-tobacco base.
The interesting composition, with Nicoleta’s help of course, made me think of laid back family vacation in a secluded area in the woods. Family, nice cabin, small pool, me drinking Kir Royale coctail on the poolside lounge chair,I need nothing more than such happy memories
I’ll treat myself with Kir Royale, Cheers everyone

  • Mmmmm…. blackcurrant! I’ve not had it as a fresh berry but love the jam. This sounds like a very ripe summery scent. I love uplifiting scents and this one sounds so fun and perfect. I do think colors have the power to help set the mood and tone, just like scent. I haven’t tried anything from Gallagher before so I don’t have a favorite.
I live in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • realtyisme says:

The flash of silver lightning is one of the analogies that “sparked” my interest with Nicoleta’s review amongst the photo realistic description of olfactive properties of this wonderful Gallagher creation. I also am attracted to fragrances that are inspired by “Happy Times” 🙂 I’m in the US.

  • WaltherP99 says:

Other than his fragrances of course, there’s something about Daniel Gallagher i really like, his approach to customers. I do believe I’m one of the earliest adopters of his brand, it was 2016 when I discovered his work, when I watched Steven and Carlos video on YouTube, RIP Carlos aka Brooklyn Fragrance Lover
From the first order, to my last one , the second version of Carpe Cafe , he’s always been not only helpful, but always taking his time , making me feel I’m a part of his inner circle, and not some random customer.
I’m familiar with all Gallagher Fragrances, including discontinued ones , and his side project Pearlescent Parfums .
If I have to rate my favorite ones available on the market right now , not counting Pearlescent Parfums :
    1. Rosé All Day
    2. Carpe Cafe , the second, reworked version. Again Daniel explained me on Instagram the differences between the two versions
    3. Wicked Good
If i can include the discontinued Gallagher Fragrances, my favorite 3 would be:
    1. Rosé All Day
    2. Original Carpe Cafe
    3. Peaches and Campfire , unfortunately I’ll never forget how bottle was stolen from me.
Mists of Time to me is different, compared to what Nicoleta is getting. In The opening the orange is not sweet , but tart and acerbic , like I’m biting, and chewing just removed orange peel. The cassis is ever slightly sweet , and pleasantly musky . In the base the sweetness is more pronounced, with cypress, patchouli and cherry pipe tobacco. The blend is top notch , the tobacco slightly reminds me of the tobacco in Nax
    Naxos.
The fragrance is classy , and not some sweet jelly ranchers fruity scent
    All profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot
