Francesca Bianchi LUXE CALME VOLUPTE review

Les soleils couchants
Revêtent les champs,
Les canaux, la ville entière,
D’hyacinthe et d’or;
Le monde s’endort
Dans une chaude lumière.

Là, tout n’est qu’ordre et beauté,
Luxe, calme et volupté.
~ L’Invitation au Voyage from Les Fleurs du Mal, Charles Baudelaire

The setting suns adorn the fields, the canals, the entire city in hyacinth and gold; the world slumbers in a warm glow. There, all is order and beauty, luxury, serenity and eroticism. (my translation). Independent Amsterdam-based Italian perfumer Francesca Bianchi is highly regarded, and rightly so: her panoply of perfumes provide artfully composed, long-lasting fragrances for every taste. I find that a large number of her perfumes possess either an overt or underlying animalic gourmandise, which may account for their popularity during these days of pandemic malaise.

Luxe Calme Volupté, Francesaca Bianchi’s most recent release, was inspired by both the decadent poetry of Charles Baudelaire’s L’Invitation au Voyage (from his collection Les Fleurs du Mal) and a famous painting entitled Luxe, Calme et Volupté by his contemporary Henri Matisse. Ms. Bianchi makes it clear that her desire was to create a perfume which would transport its wearer (and those in their charmed circle) to serene, sybaritic environs; after all, there continue to be limitations upon travel no matter where one looks. If not literal, then figurative odysseys are always possible when cloaked in a vapor of luxurious exoticism.

In L’Invitation au Voyage, Baudelaire rhapsodizes about the blue hour (l’heure bleue), the crepuscular hues of gold mingled with shades of violet which bathe the scenery he envisions. It happens to be one of his less tormented erotic poems; tranquility and carnal pleasures are viewed in a milieu of light, not the darkness for which he is better remembered, and culminates in a tone of wistful hope. Matisse’s vivid painting Luxe, Calme et Volupté brilliantly illustrates a joyful scene which might equally be renamed “Le Déjeuner sur la plage” (Luncheon on the Beach) as opposed to Baudelaire’s lifelong friend Manet’s Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe (Luncheon on the Grass): a light repast is served by the sea in the presence of what appears to be tropical vegetation, resplendent with a bevy of leisurely female nudes. We understand its sensual appeal – hues reminiscent of Bonnard rendered in a semi-pointilistic manner, tranquil and cheerfully optimistic.

How does the perfumer intertwine so many artistic elements? I find this the most intriguing part. We are aware of various players: contemporary artists known to Baudelaire (the painters Manet, arguably his closest friend; Matisse; Alfred Sisley and many more). We haven’t touched upon the two muses who haunted him, or the subject of carnality, sexual vampirism, or his fascination with and equation of the binding of sex and death which so shocked his peers and audience.  One such muse was Jeanne Duval, the Haitian-born Creole actress and dancer with whom the poet maudit (as he was known – ‘maudit’ means ‘cursed’) shared his checkered existence for twenty years. She was his Black Venus, and his most sensual poems lionize her with sexual ferocity in Les Fleurs du Mal (Flowers of Evil). The other, from 1857-1862 – was Apollonie Sabatier, an artist’s model and courtesan who held a salon near the Place Pigalle frequented by such luminaries as Flaubert, Berlioz, Victor Hugo, Gustave Doré, Manet, sculptor August Clésinger and Théophile Gautier. These women, albeit alluring in very different ways – were the impetus which drove Baudelaire’s most renowned work – and they inhabit the animalic aspects of this perfume as rudiments of danger and desire.

In Francesca Bianchi Luxe Calme Volupté, Ms. Bianchi has chosen several threads with which to embroider her perfume. As is often the case, zesty citruses provide the sweet/tart/tangy introduction which ushers in golden-smelling fruit, flowers and resin. Some are literal: hyacinth is a very green floral with a slightly indolic edge to it – and when the poet speaks of hyacinth and gold, it is a component which does not feel violet-hued. Distinctly verdant materials (galbanum, vetiver) are employed, yet this perfume does not read as green to my nose. My overall impression is that of foreign glamour: tropical fruits (undisclosed), the animalic intoxication of heavily floral ylang-ylang, opulent resinous density of opoponax and benzoin, sandalwood and vetiver from far-flung locales across the globe. Iris contributes a powdery dry silky sweetness. Francesca Bianchi has gifted us with a golden perfume, fit for poet or painter. It shares the tendril of sensual mischief for which she is widely admired. All the filaments converge, thus generating the radiance of her favorite poem and painting; it’s a hedonist’s gourmand.

Notes: Bitter orange, Green tangerine, Galbanum, Hyacinth, Tropical fruits, Ylang ylang, Iris, Benzoin, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Opoponax

Sample kindly provided by Ann Bouterse of Indigo Perfumery – many thanks!  My nose is my own…

  • The way art is interpreted by Ms. Bianchi with scent and perfume notes is fascinating. It sounds opulent. I’d be excited to experience Luxe Calme Volupté. Thanks for the draw! NC USA

  • I tried some of Francesca Bianchi`s perfumes and I must confess, I not the biggest fan. But I am intrigued about this one and I need to try it.

    Greetings from EU (Romania)

  • I love the weaving of notes and cultural elements. I have never tried any from the line but I would like to. I live in the United States. Thanks for the drawing.

There is no better way to really understand a fragrance line than thru a discovery set! It’s a perfect draw, and what I would choose if selected, although the full bottle sounds as tempting as muses Jeanne Duval and Apollonie Sabatier! I’ve not tried any of these fragrances to my recollection but am familiar with the brand.
    In Louisiana, USA.

My favorite time of day is l’heure bleue. It is a private time of fantasy and feeling. The fragrance notes seem to match my thinking perfectly. Thank you for another wonderful introduction to a scent. I prefer the bottle, yet the discovery set would be just as nice to win. I have not tried anything from the line yet. Usa.

  • Dubaiscents says:

It’s the last words of this lovely review from Ida that lure me in “a hedonist’s gourmand”. Based on the other scents I have smelled from this brand, I’m sure this is not a typical sweet scent. I would love to try it. I have enjoyed many scents from this house with my favorite being Tyger. Thank you Ann and Cafleurebon for this give away. US

  • Ida! Mais oui! Si on peut lire Baudelaire en français, c’est un trésor! ❤️ Baudelaire’s work is gorgeous! When I lived in Paris, my Parisian roommate saw me reading an assigned collection of Delille, immediately gave me his copy of Les Fleures du Mal, and I’ve never looked back. Of course I need to know all about Francesca Bianchi & her perfumes! Thank you, Ida, for your captivating review of Luxe, Calme, Volupte! I am quite drawn to Ida’s description of Francesca Bianchi’s Art showcasing an “underlying animalic gourmandise.” Reading through CaFleureBon’s reviews, Bianchi’s creations seem to be just the kind I would love! I have never had the privilege of experiencing nor owning a Francesca Bianchi fragrance, but I would Love to win the Complete Discovery Kit! I would Love to spend time getting to know these perfumes so that I can purchase the right full bottles for me (it takes time to really experience something well). Thank you CaFleureBon and Indigo Perfumery for this amazing opportunity! The last samples I bought from Indigo Perfumery arrived very quickly, are excellent sprayers, & one can tell they respect & love our perfume community. ❤️ USA (if I win, I would like the discovery kit, please & thank you)

I’ve only sampled Under My Skin from Francesca but I’ve read a lot about her and watched interviews. I really love her independent spirit and she seems like a true artist. UMS was a bit too advanced for my nose, reminding me a bit of sweaty running shorts mixed with baby powder lol. I do struggle with powdery notes so not sure Luxe would work for me either. That is why I’d love to sample her entire line and find one my beginners nose can appreciate. Thank you for this opportunity. I am in USA

  • I didn’t know Baudelaire was close friends with so many famous painters like Matisse and Manet. Francesca Bianchi Luxe Calme Volupté seems different from other fragrances in her line as her signature is usually animalic and leathery fragrances. This one seems to celebrate the spirit of spring. I am in US. My choice is bottle of Francesca Bianchi Luxe Calme Volupté.

  • I tried Francesca Bianchi’s Sex and the Sea and declared it a work of art. I shared it with my sister and she fell in love…and ended up with the rest of the decant. I can’t wait to try Luxe Calme Volupté! If it is anything like Matisse’s painting, it will be a delight. And count me in on anything described as a hedonist’s gourmand! – Indiana, USA

  • Gabriel Garcia says:

A hedonistic gourmand? Sounds good like a clear voice of the poets, I keep hearing great things about Ms Bianchi, and never tried anything of hers, I would like to win the samples, from Las Vegas Nv

  • I love the way poet’s and art work has an influence on Ms Bianchi fragrances. The art of fragrance plus poems and artwork is brilliant.. Each fragrance has a story to tell. I never sampled her fragrances. I do.love the notes of Luxe Calme. Thank you for this Chance. I would choose the bottle. USA

  • AleksCipri says:

What a lovely review by Ida! I’ve learned so much about the inspiration for this perfume!. Ever since I learned Francesca Bianchi released a new perfume I was very interested to try it! I am particularly interested in Luxe Calme Volupte because of the tropical fruits and resins Ida described so nicely. I have tried many of Francesca’s perfumes, and they are amazing! I didn’t try only the 3 most recent ones. I must admit her perfumes have a very strong DNA and have a lot of similarities in how I perceive them. For that reason I still don’t own any of them. I cannot decide which one to get. I’m still waiting for the right one. I’m from Illinois, US and in case you pick me I would love the get the bottle of Luxe Calme Volupte, since I tried most of them so I don’t need the sample set.

  • Luxe Calme Volupte would be my first Francesca Bianchi fragrance, and it sounds amazing. I love gourmands and Ida’s amazing review describes this fragrance so memorably as a “hedonist’s gourmand.” Okay, now I HAVE to try it. I was about to pull the trigger on buying a bunch of Francesca Bianchi samples this week, and then I see that CaFleureBon is doing a giveaway! Amazing timing. Since I have not had a Bianchi fragrance before, I would prefer the sample set over the full bottle of Luxe Calme Volupte. Of course, I would be grateful to win either! Cheers from NC, USA.

  • I love this perfumer! “A hedonist’s gourmand” indeed–I feel like this is a great description of a few of her fragrances. I can’t wait to try this one. Ms. Bianchi does rich, multi-faceted fragrances which are unlike anything else out there. I’m in the US, thanks to Indigo and CFB for this generous draw!

The way art is interpreted by Ms. Bianchi with scent and perfume notes is fascinating. It sounds opulent. I’d be excited to experience Luxe Calme Volupté. Thanks for the draw! New york usa

  • Yes, I’m a fan! One of my favs is Angel’s Dust. I’ve been looking forward to sniffing Francesca ‘s latest creation, which sounds absolutely like another fabulous fragrance. Thanks Ida for the introduction. If lucky, bottle please. Mich USA

  • I enjoy a review that starts with the perfumer’s inspiration: a piece of art, music, poem, or place and then pulls that thread through to the notes and the scent itself. Luxe Calme Volupte has galbanum, iris, hyacinth along with citruses and pineapple- all notes I’m drawn to- it sounds very much like a “foreign glamour.” I’ve heard so much about Francesca Bianchi’s perfumes and their richness but I haven’t had a chance to experience them. I would be thrilled to win the discovery set. TX, USA.

  • This sounds really great. Ive been wanting to try Francesca Bianchi’s stuff for a while. This one sounds right up my street. Id love to try a number of her perfumes but have yet to try any. I’m in the U.S. and if I was to win id choose the bottle. Thanks so much for the generous draw as always.

  • I love the creativity of Francesca Bianchi. She is providing a scent that will lead me to a place of sensuous calmness. A place I crave to be after a challenging, long, hard day at the office. I also enjoyed Ida’s provision of the connective tissue of this fragrance to the artistic element so wonderfully portrayed in this essay. Thank you again for another literary journey allowing me to escape into a world of danger and desire.

  • Oops. This is a continuation of my previous comment. If I am the winner, I prefer, the 30ml bottle. USA

  • My favourite from Francesca Bianchi’s line is The Black Knight. A perfume with many faces – now you smell leather, and you think it is a leather fragrance, after two minutes you get vetiver and a lipsticky note of iris. And it doesn’t end here… smoke, woods come to life and these notes change between them and complete each ofther. Such a unique scent!
I am curious if Luxe Calme Volupte is in the same genre.
    Thanks from Europe!

  • Interesting to read about what was behind this fragrance idea, from where it all started.
I think I will go and read some Baudelaire – it really opened up my appetite for poetry this review!
I did not test anything from Ms. Francesca Bianchi.
    I am in Europe. Thanks!

  • joshuabrian says:

Nice review! The notes sound lovely, but I’d love to get the discovery kit to smell all of the love. From USA. Thanks for the draw!

  • Although I do not fit into these two artistic fields, I would love to try this “golden perfume, fit for poet or painter”!

I had the chance to test 2 perfumes of Francesca so far, respectively Sex and The Sea and Angel’s Dust. I crave a bottle of the second, but first I would like to test all the creations! So, I’m signing up for the discovery set. Thank you!

    I live in Europe

  • emorandeira says:

I really LOVE how Ida explains the different phases in this perfume. The zesty and citrusy opening, the tropical vibe, the Green feeling and his animalic part… It is very good described! Congratulations Ida for your review!
Francesca Bianchi is my favourite perfume brand so I have tried most of her perfumes. Unfortunately I have not tried Luxe calme volupte yet 🙁
My favourite Bianchi perfume is sex & the sea. In my collection I have also The dark side and Lost in Heaven. I have in my wishlist The lover’s tale and tyger tyger for buying in a close future.
My name is Edgar (parfum_sindromico) and I would like to participate in this giveaway from Tenerife, Spain (EU).

  • constancesuze says:

I always know when it’s an Ida review <3
This fragrance has intrigued me from when it was first released- in part because I'm very interested in the line and also because we were assigned the poem in one of my college French classes. There's a lovely animation on youtube with a voiceover of the reading.
Loved the background on Baudelaire. I'm in the US and am interested in the sample set!

  • A summery, golden, fruity floral from Francesca Bianchi sounds enchanting. I have a lot of respect for her as a self taught perfumer.
I have tried Under My Skin, Sticky Fingers and The Dark Side. They were all great. I think Sticky Fingers is my favorite discovery this year. I would like to win the full bottle of Luxe Calme Volupte. I’ll try to find samples of the rest of her line.

  • I look forward to the tendril of sensual that this offering promises. I would like the discovery set because I haven’t tried any. US

  • redwheelbarrow says:

I love your description of hedonist gourmand. I am dying to try this one. I bought my first bottle of Ms. Bianchi’s creations (Under My Skin) during quarantine and I now have four. I am really interested to experience how Ms. Bianchi uses tropical fruits. I also know very little about Baudelaire and really enjoyed reading about his muses. Now I’m dying to know more. I cannot choose a favorite of Ms. Bianchi’s fragrances because they are truly all spectacular! She really is so incredibly talented! Were I the lucky winner, I would choose the bottle. Thank you for the review and draw. I’m in the US.

  • I enjoyed reading about Luxe Calme Volupté by Ida, especially how this perfume captures the sensuality and sensibilities of the times, and the notes on Matisse and Money and Charles Baudelaire. Seems to be a delightful perfume. I haven’t tried anything by this brand, yet, so if I were to win this draw, I’d choose the 2X12 sampler sets, so I can try more perfumes by the perfumer, and hopefully buy some afterwards. Thanks for the review and draw. I am in the USA.

  • Francesca Bianchi seems to have such a strong artistic / poetic dimension to her work. She picked one of the most iconic pieces of art as inspiration for her fragrance, and, according to Ida’s skillful description, she indeed managed to capture Baudelaire’s decadent style in a bottle. The hyacinth and ylang ylang, voluptuous flowers by nature, touched by a tropical fruit edge, “tartened” up by citrus and mellowed down by resins and sandalwood sound glorious.
I have tried the iconic Sex and the Sea by Francesca Bianchi.
I am in the EU and would be delighted to win the samples.

  • Loved the intertwining of art, intention and the resulting perfume / smell in this article. I only tried Etruscan Water so far from Francesca Bianchi.
    Living in the EU

  • Ida’s review is brilliant. I do want to be transported into the poem and painting. I love when a piece of art in one form is based on art in another form. I haven’t tried any Francesca Bianchi perfumes, but I would love to. If I win, I’d prefer the bottle. I am in the US.

  • Claumarchini says:

I have tried 6 fragrances by Francesca Bianchi and they are so different from all the others I had always reached for…so sensual and long-lasting (I have a serious problem with persistence, but Francesca’s scents stay on my skin forever!), peculiar, unisex yet feminine on women and sexy on men…My favourites are Lost in heaven and Angel’s Dust, but I am very curious about Luxe Calme Volupté, for its green notes that I almost always enjoy (even if Ida doesn’t feel it so much). Since I live in Italy, I am eligible only for the sample set, it would be a treat!

  • I always enjoy Ida’s reviews. This is no exception. I am an artist and a lover of gourmand scents. This sounds perfect to me. I have been interested in FB’s scents and this would be a perfect way to get acquainted. I think I would like the bottle if chosen. In maryland.

  • Andrei Artimon says:

Really love the house and the artistry of Francesca. This sounds like a real winner. Would love to add this to my collection. New York Usa.

  • The presentation of the fragrance and stories behind it really appeals to me. I live in Poland, EU. I have never tried this house but I would love to try it some day.

  • A hedonist gourmand is an aspirational fragrance. The citrus, tropical fruits and glamorous florals seem to tie well with the resins to produce a transportative perfume. The blue hour is a magical time of day and this sounds like a magical scent. I would love to try Francesca Bianchi’s sampler. I’m in MD, USA.

  • Luxe Calme Volupté I found attractive because of the rather unusual combination of sweet zesty fruits, present greenness and resins in the base. It would be great if I win the new hedonistic gourmand .
Francesca Bianchi do have a positive DNA , like they’re made to emulate the smell , and overall feeling of how we should not be gloomy, and having fun, even in darkest moments is important. I think they are not as carnal, as some people believe.
Because of Mr Jara now I’m proud owner of Sex and the Sea . Be aware Francesca Bianchi fragrances are EXTREMELY potent. Personally I do like most of my fragrances to be almost offensively loud , but with 3 spays of Sex and the Sea you could knock someone out. A bottle will last you … for years and years. I hope Francesca Bianchi will continue making them super strong , and won’t delude her frags ,like some other indie brands did unfortunately.
Thank you Ida ,Indigo Perfumery and Francesca Bianchi

  • This review had me at golden-smelling. Sounds beautiful. I have yet to smell a Francesca Bianchi perfume, but this one, Angel’s Dust, and The Dark Side are on my to-try list. I’m in the US and would love to win the full bottle of Luxe Calme Volupté. Thanks!

  • Francesca Brice says:

Woman bitten by a Serpent- I’ve never seen this magnificent sculpture, a challenge to David is my initial reaction! Your translation Ida, ‘order and beauty, luxury, serenity and eroticism’ tells it all in this review that is such an education in these historical muses and the world surrounding them. So interesting and thank you so much! The fragrance sounds awesome and good luck to everyone. The pleasure of opening it….

  • This sounds like a perfume comprising two seasons, summer turning into winter. I’ve read many great reviews of Francesca Bianchi fragrances but have never smelled any of them, so I would choose the discovery set to be able to experience them all. From CA, USA.

  • This description is swoon-worthy. Angela Carter’s Black Venus was one of my favorite stories when I was a teen, and any invocation of Jeanne Duval and Baudelaire captures my interest. I’d love to try Luxe Calme Volupté. I’m in the US.

  • forrestanez says:

I love that it is described as having many artistic elements. I currently do not own any perfumes from the house. I would love to win the sampler. I live in Hawaii, USA

  • I loved Ida’s article, this mix of history and arts was a treat to read. I have only tried A Lover’s Tale from Francesca Bianchi. In it I also found the same principle that Baudelaire used in it’s poetry, to make the unexpected beautiful, even if it’s polarizing. Thank you for the opportunity to discover more of Francesca Bianchi’s creations. From EU.

  • This sounds great! I love the idea of a golden gourmand; thank you Ida for the glamorous description. Poetry and perfume have been a great source of comfort for me during the past year and a half. I want to spray this on and be transported, if only for an hour or two, to an scented dreamscape. Francesca’s perfumes are very well represented in my personal collection. I have The Black Knight, The Lover’s Tale, Sticky Fingers, and a sublime oil scented with Under My Skin. Yes, I am a diehard fan of this house! If you love bold, animalic, and emotional perfumes then you will certainly appreciate Francesca Bianchi’s house of perfumes. She’s a genius in my book. I live in the USA and would like to enter to win the bottle of Luxe, Calme, Volupte. Thanks!

  • DulciusExAsperis says:

Interesting to learn about Baudelaire and his lovers – I need to do some Googling so I can read more about that. Especially Jeanne Duval! I’ve tried a few other Bianchi and especially loved Tyger Tyger – the honey notes are divine. I would love to try for the full bottle of Luxe Calme – the freshness sounds alluring. I’m in the USA.

  • wandering_nose says:

I tried Francesca Bianchi’s Sex and the Sea in a hurry, shortly before departing from one of Europe’s southern capitals after a weekend trip in the good pre-pandemic times. The absolute dominatrix it turned out to be was beyond me; I surrendered. It managed to intrigue me to crave more. Luxe Calme Volupte sounds more mysterious and exotic with its load of fruity opulence with a green-leaning twist. I would love to try more from this unique house so the sample set would be just perfect. Based in Ireland, EU

  • I haven’t tried any fragrances from this house yet, but I’d like to try all of their fragrance releases. If I win, then I’d choose the discovery kit; I’ve been enjoying certain discovery sets lately and I plan to try a lot more samples/discovery sets. I like the list of ingredients for this fragrance and judging by how Ida described it, I can tell that she takes it seriously, and I’d like to try it. I’ve been, somewhat, familiarizing myself with galbanum, in recent times, and I’d like to see how it is in this fragrance. I live in MD., U.S.A.

  • Ida Meister take on Luxe Calme Volupté reminded me of making, and later eating Tropical Fruits Cake with flowers and grass all around me.
    “it’s a hedonist’s gourmand”
Confirmed by Ida herself , I’d love to win the bottle.
Angel’s Dust I know very well, because good friend of mine is wearing it all the time. 33 yo female, not that it matters at all. It’s powdery and powerful, with mint candy floss sweetness, and creamy sandalwood . Angel’s Dust i like a lot, both how it smells, and how strong it is. My friend said she only spray twice, and I can smell her from a few feet away.
Appreciate Ida hedonistic review, and the giveaway campaign

  • My favorite from what Francesca created is Sticky Fingers! I would love to test all the others as well as I am sure there are many gems in the entire line!
    Thanks! Europe

  • I would love to win the sample discovery kit as I did not tested anything from Francesca Bianchi.
    I live in the Eu

  • It’s a difficult choice to make between the bottle of Luxe Calme Volupte and the samples. Thank you Ida for the backstory of Baudelaire’s muses, Jeanne Duval and Apollonie Sabatier. It gives me a good impression of where Luxe Calme Volupte is going. Golden smelling fruit, flowers and resin really has my attention. Although I have not tried FB fragrances before, I would still choose the bottle of this. I am so curious by the description of a “golden perfume” I want it in my collection. Thank you for the giveaway. In the USA.

  • I’m leaning towards sweet fruity scents even more now , when it’s both hot and windy , something I don’t usually do.
Calme Volupté is not your typical sugary bomb, but multifaceted fragrance. It’s sweet and tart, floral, woody and resinous. Creative radiant fragrance that will suit me well. I’d prefer the bottle.
The name Francesca Bianchi I’ve heard not only on Cafleurebon, but on forums, other blogs and on YouTube. I need to finally dig in if Ida is speaking so highly about Calme Volupté
Thanks, and cheers with Bahama Mama Cocktail

  • Hedonist gourmand? Wow and yes! Sounds amazing, the inspiration for this perfume is as good as it is the final product. I heard amazing things about Ms Bianchi creations but I have not tried any.
I’d love to get my hands on this one.
    I live in the US.

  • Because of Danu’s (Unfortunately not
ot part of Cafleurebon anymore , I wonder why?!? ) great review, mid.2019 , I have sampled, and bought “The Lovers Tale” , and now I’m intrigued again. I see the approach is different, but the slightly funky feeling is present not just in “The Lovers Tale” , but in Luxe Calme Volupté too.
I think Luxe Calme Volupté , because of its green, woody and tropical experience , will work wonders with my body chemistry. Maybe because I’m watching the pine forest on the outside, and eating kiwi.
I’d love to win the bottle
    Thanks for the draw

Citrusses, aromatics, sweetness, but also vetiver, and indilics hmm I’m sensing some old school vibes , but also modern ones. Best of both worlds i guess
I’m not a fan of overly indolic scents, good to know Luxe Calme Volupté is not crossing the line.
I’m not poet or painter , but I’ll be happy to win the 30ml bottles .
    Good longevity is always appreciated.
    Thank you all

  • I’ve been so curious about this house for several years. Ms. Bianchi has such a unique development storyline for her perfumes. The combination of hyacinth and galbanum along with a golden aspect speaks to a different era of perfume. However from her Instagram, I can see that her esthetic is modern. Luxe Calme Volupte sounds fantastic!
I would love the bottle, and I’m in the USA.

  • Nice history of art class!
The voluptuousness of the scent, the hedonist’s gourmand as Ida put it, which goes hand in hands with Baudelaire’s fantasies, is what attracts me the most about this fragrance!
I haven’t tried yet any Francesca Bianchi’s perfumes, but I’m dying to!!!
    From Romania, EU

  • I love Ida’s references to beloved painters. I have never tried any of Francesca Bianchi’s scents, so the sample set would be wonderful. I live in the United States. Thank you for the drawing.

  • I’ve smelled all Francesca Bianchi fragrances, including Luxe Calme Volupté . Ida review was top notch as usual, my my impressions of the fragrance are similar, with slight differences. On my skin i don’t get hyacinth, but I get a lot of galbanum, tropical fruits..mango maybe, orris butter, one of Francesca favorite ingredients, and resins and sandalwood in the base.
Contrast between the galbanum and tropical sweetness is uncommon, but quite addictive.
Unlike all other Francesca Bianchi fragrances, the animalic part is toned-down a lot , I find it easier to wear even for non-expiriensed noses . To me, luckily there’s nothing indolic. The sweetness is quite pleasant, but personally I wouldn’t call it gourmand .
I want to point out, Francesca Bianchi fragrances are artisanal with top performance. They are not meant to be crowd pleasers , sample first.
I do own The Dark Side , and I’d like to add bottle of Luxe Calme Volupté to my collection
    Thanks a lot

What a gorgeous review Ida! So much appeals to me about Francesca Bianchi’s Luxe Calme Volupte based on the review, but if I had to pick one thing, it would have to be how you describe the perfume as being inspired by not just the poem nor just the painting, but both. The intersection of art and literature, of two different contemporaries each at the height of their respective fields, both known to and influencing each other. The interplay of all these different, seemingly opposite influences really interests me, and it really appeals to me how Ms. Bianchi has chosen to mirror the theme of so many disparate strands intertwining and converging in her perfume.

I have tried three of Francesca Bianchi’s fragrances, Under My Skin, Lost in Heaven, and The Black Night and absolutely adore them all. I only own The Black Night, but I aspire to own them all! I am particularly eager to try The Dark Side, The Lover’s Tale, and Luxe Calme Volupte, as I have a feeling they will be right up my alley. I live in the US, and I would prefer to win the bottle, although I would also be very happy with the sampler.
