Fashion’s Night Out Thursday September 8, 2011- Fragrance’s Night Out, Too! Henri Bendel

In September 2009, Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) inaugurated what has become a new tradition every fall. In conjunction with the Spring/Summer Fashion Week they take advantage of having all of fashion’s designers in one city and created Fashion’s Night Out. Fashion’s Night Out is one night where the stores of fashionable New York City stay open until 11PM and stage events full of designers, celebrities, and consumers. The event has spread far beyond New York and there are events happening all over the world on Thursday September 8. To see whether anything is happening in your town go to the Fashion’s Night Out website and see what is there.

For those of you nationwide my best suggestion is to stop in to your local Anthropologie and try their fragrance selection. They are doing an excellent job at expanding niche sensibilities to the wider public.

In New York there are a number of events that will be of interest to fragrance lovers at Henri Bendel and other stores; I just wanted to highlight a few of them for those who are thinking of joining the festivities in Manhattan.

Kilian Henessy will be making a personal appearance at Saks Fifth Avenue (611 5th Avenue). The 10 most unique pictures posted to the By Kilian Facebook page will win a silver travel spray.

L’Artisan Parfumeur is having two premieres. The first is at the in-store boutique at Henri Bendel (712 5th Ave.) where the new Brazilian inspired Batacuda will launch. At Barney’s (660 Madison Avenue) the US Mon Numero finally arrives as Mon Numero 10 makes its debut.

At Diptyque (971 Madison Ave.) they are having a Champagne and Macaron party. From 6-8 if you take a picture of the secret item hidden in the store you will have the chance to walk away with a full bottle of your choice.

The CREED Boutique (794 Madison Ave.) is havin a sneak peek at their latest and greatest release Royal Oud.

At all three Bond No. 9 locations downtown the brand-new I Love NY collection will be available to try.

Finally, as you’re walking around on Thursday night keep an eye out for The Fragrance Foundation “Stop and Smell the Roses” flower carts. They are at Macy’s Herald Sq., Under the High Line in the Meatpacking District, 61st and Madison, 48th and 5th,and 57th and 5th. Take a moment to smell something beautiful while shopping for beautiful things.

I’ll be out there with you Fashionable Perfumistas, say hello if you bump into me; I’ll be the devastatingly fantastic smelling man standing next to you.
