Esxence 2019: Beso Beach Perfume Reviews + Bendito Beso, Beso Canalla, Beso Negro Draw

Beso Beach Perfumes and restaurants

Beso Beach Restaurants via Beso Beach & apped by Robert

Every lazy day at the beach begins and ends with a kiss; the first kiss of morning sunlight on sparkling cerulean water, the mid-day kiss of heat, sand, and idle conversation, and finally the evening kiss of laughter, assignation, and bronzed salty skin under the moon. Inspired by life on the beach and introduced at the Esxence 2019, Beso Beach Perfumes is a new collaboration between Carner Barcelona and the Beso Beach Restaurants. Beso Beach restaurants are comprised of four world renowned eateries on four paradisiacal beaches (Ibiza & Formentera in the Balearics, Sitges a Catalonian beach town just southwest of Barcelona, and Tulum on the Riviera Maya), Beso Beach Perfumes perfectly capture the very essence and summery vibe of these beachside restaurants whose motto is “No Hay Verano Sin Beso” (There Is No Summer Without Beso), and are the very definition of “dolce far niente”: pleasant relaxation in carefree idleness.

Beso Beach Bendito perfume review

Bendito Beso (Blessed Kiss): Master Perfumer Olivier Cresp of Firmenich has created a fragrance that takes us to early morning on a beautiful sand beach on Ibiza’s little-sister island of Formentera. The sun is blindingly bright as early morning bathers take advantage of the less-crowded stretch of sand in front of the grass-roofed Beso Beach Restaurant. The scent of the sea, the slight iodine sand smell, the wild brush and the skin scent of bronzed and beautiful bodies fill the air. Nearer to the restaurant you catch a wisp of jasmine mixed with that particular driftwood-type smell of the wooden boardwalk that leads up into the shallow dunes. In the quiet of the morning the family/tribe of seasonal workers move in a finely choreographed dance of bare feet on sandy floors preparing the open-air restaurant for the inevitable crush of clients. This is Beso Beach, where the food is hyper-local and hyper-fresh, and the scent of different kinds of suntan oils mix with the island breeze. The aroma of world-class dining fills the air. Old friends greet new friends, while lovers sit and contemplate the perfection of the setting. The dress code is casual Neo-Hippie-Chic and bare feet are de rigueur. It is magical, spiritual, and unforgettable, like the island itself.

Notes: Hedione, neroli water, Sicilian bergamot, Cascalone, Tunisian orange flower absolute, Atlas, Paradisone, Atlas cedar wood, heliotrope, musk, fir-balsam

Beso beach Beso Canalla perfume review

Beso Canalla (The Scoundrels Kiss): In the hands of Master Perfumer Annick Menardo of Symrise, the Riviera Maya resort town of Tulum lends interpretation to a perfume that captures the essential vibe of a Beso Beach mid-day lazy lunch on a white sand beach. Surrounded by rustic pots full of lavender and wild orange, Beso Canalla skirts the edge of gourmandism by introducing a burnt sugar note that is flat-out scrumptious. Sandalwood, a touch of patchouli, and cistus bring to life the dense tropical forest that comes right to the edge of town. Beso Canalla is a long drawn out multi-course paen to the lush verdancy, the freshness of the crystalline sea and the azure sky above.

Notes: Lavender, Neroli Bigarade, Sicilian Bergamot, Saffron, heliotrope, roasted sugar, cistus, Indian Sandalwood, Indonesian Patchouli, amber infusion

Beso Beach Beso Canalla review

Beso Negro (The kiss of darkness): The darkest, most mysterious and carnal scent of the three is IFF Perfumer Christophe Raynaud’s realization of life after dark on the beach at Sitges just south of Barcelona. Nighttime in Sitges finds the stretch of sand fronting the town as busy as the daytime, but now given over to Lovers of all sexes and proclivities. The action on the beach becomes as frenetic as the crowded discos, restaurants and raves just a few blocks away. The scent of lust and love is in the air. The heady green notes violet leaf and cardamom bring Beso Negro to life with a perfumed skin-sweatiness, and with the ambrox, sandalwood, and with the musky salty leather note, the whetting of all appetites becomes prevalent. Patchouli takes over and suddenly the scent is sexual-heavy like the darkest night giving up its secrets on the sand. The perfume mellows as if anticipating the first glimpse of early morning light which finds slumbering bodies stirring on the sand, and couples bleary-eyed and sex-soaked leaving the all-night clubs as everyone heads home to sleep off the night.

Notes: Violet leaves, Guatemalan cardamom, green accord, violet, Orris concrete, Cypriol, Indonesian Patchouli, Virginia cedar wood, ambrox, Indian sandalwood, leather

Disclosure: Thanks so much to Beso Beach Perfumes for the samples. The opinions are my own.

I love how Beso Canalla seems to be purely about the place. I really want to go to Tulum someday, and the description of Beso Canalla really makes it seem so exotic and wild. I would be happy to sample any of these gorgeous sounding scents though.
Thanks for the giveaway! I’m in Canada.

  • I enjoyed reading what these three entries might smell like by reading the descriptive paragraphs. They all three appeal to me so good I don’t have the option of the bottle. US

  • I truly enjoyed reading about this trio of perfumes inspired by summer kisses. They all sound very intriguing but as a violet and leather lover Beso Negro seems like the most appealing. I live in the USA so I would love to try all three with the sample set!

  • DespinaVnt says:

I am most intrigued by this trio of fragrances which seem to be interpreting in such excitingly different manner the experience of being in one of the dreamy beaches where the restaurants are located.
I am mostly drawn to Beso Canalla; Robert’s description as “a multi-course paen to the lush verdancy, the freshness of the crystalline sea and the azure sky above” captured my imagination.
I’d love to win a bottle of Beso Canalla, thank you.
    Best from France (EU).

  • NiceVULady says:

I like the sense of flow of one fragrance to another that I get from Robert’s review. I can almost feel the perfumes from his description. I think of the three, I would like Beso Negro as I find those notes especially appealing. Thank for a great review and a generous draw. I’m in the USA

  • I always like it when perfumes are tied to places, events or ideas. Here it’s a commercial idea combined with places, and that’s intriguing.
I would love a bottle of Beso Canalla

  • Dubaiscents says:

I love the idea of three beach scents for the different parts of the day. They all sound lovely since I adore beachy fragrances but the mix of violet, cardamom, patchouli, sandalwood and leather in Beso Negro really calls to me! I would love to try them all. I’m in the US.

  • Kisses on the beach!!! Love the inspiration for these fragrances! Thanks for the opportunity to win the sample set. USA

  • roxhas1cat says:

These sound fantastic. The first one appeals to me the most since it is magical, spiritual and unforgettable. However, Beso Canala is intriguing since it borders on gourmand. Good thing if I’m the lucky winner I won’t have to choose since I live in the USA. This article makes me long for the beach which I haven’t been to since spring break. A friend invited me to the Oregon Coast this week, but I passed. It sure isn’t the “beach” that I dream of. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

  • Really great idea collaborating with beach restaurant resorts. They all sound great but since I am a fan of Olivier Cresp Akro I like the most. I am eligible only for sample set but will seek out Bendito beso

  • Nice idea, to create summer beach perfumes. I don’t put perfume when on the beach, as I like too much the scent of the sea breeze itself. But I would love to win Beso Negro, to evoque the good holiday time. Thanks for the chance! I’m from the EU.

  • Each of these sound amazing; each an aspect of summer on an island. Would love to experience either Bendito Beso or Beso Negro. Great review! I’m in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

  • Bendito Beso is the first that I’d like to try. When I red “The dress code is casual Neo-Hippie-Chic and bare feet are de rigueur” I raised my hand : it’s totally me!
    Very good marketing concept.
Thank you for the draw from Romania.

  • Laurentiu says:

Beso Canalla sounds right up my alley with the promising combination of lavander, heliotrope, roasted sugar and sandalwood. Annick Menardo is the nose behind it so I am sure it is going to be great.

I am in EU and if I were to win I would choose a full bottle of Beso Canalla.

    Thanks!

  • I like how these perfumes all portray different aspects of the beach, the summer, the holidays. Beso Negro sounds like the one for me. I always enjoy a deep and dark side to a perfume. I live in EU so I would like the 100 ml of Beso negro of course. Thank you!

  • Bendito Beso is what I need! I love Olivier Cresp`s creations and this one sounds great. Now, I dream about a beach and aroma of the sea. Greetings from Romania (EU)

  • I’ve tried a few from Carner Barcelona and absolutely love the freshness of these scents. Would love to try Beso Canalla!
    Many thanks for the draw
    I live in France.

  • All of these sounds very interesting from the base of the review and the notes. and I like the review also. If I would be the winner, my choice is Beso Canalla. Thank you for the draw. I live in the EU.

  • I really enjoyed how each fragrance painted a different beautiful image of different times and beaches. They all sound amazing and all appeal to me but the roasted sugar note pops out at me from Beso Canalla. From CT USA. Thanks for the chace.

  • Great article. All three of them sound really nice but i would stick with Bendito Beso since i love those notes and also, i admire a lot Olivier Cresp and his creations. Thanks for the chance, i am in the EU.

  • I enjoyed the unique individuality of each bottle, as each one seems to be bursting with its own distinct beachy style. Sprays of each bottle must be like getting whiffs a breeze of clean, pleasingly dense, or sweetened coastal air. (Commenting from FL, USA)

  • strangedim says:

All three perfume descriptions really brought me the dolce far niente feeling. I am especially interested in Besso Negro, with the mystery of the night vibe, the last kiss of the day. I live in EU.

  • Very nice concept. Describing the places by the scent is my favourite approach. Whole line sounds amazing. I’d love to try, them all, but as a fan of Annick Menardo I would blindly chose a bottle of Beso Canalla. I live in Poland.

  • Beso Beach Perfumes! I close my eyes and remember many lovely beach vacations. Truly, I remember the smells. These fragrances sound like they have captured them in a bottle! I would love to try them all. Thank you for the sample set giveaway. I think my favorite would be Bendito Beso because of the morning beach vibe I feel from the description. In the USA.

  • I love beach inspired perfumes and these sound great, but the Talum-based Beso Canella sounds delicious to me. I like how they all interpret their individual setting. Thanks for introducing me to these. USA.

  • doveskylark says:

I love the idea of having a complete fragrance wardrobe for a romantic Spanish getaway. I’ve been to Galicia so I know how well Spain does beaches. For sure, the notes and sensuality of Beso Negro speak strongest to me. I would pick the sample set if I won.
    I live in the USA.

  • RobertNicolasB says:

Always great when fragrances are inspired by real places and settings. All three sound equally amazing! Thanks for the opportunity.

  • I love the beach and I love how these all have the beach as a central element. Would love to go to a beautiful sand beach on Ibiza’s little-sister island of Formentera with the Bendito Beso. Thanks for the giveaway! I’m in Europe.

  • I liked the idea of Beso Negro the most. Who would not want to feel the smell of lust and love in the air!
I really would like to win Beso Negro.

Carner Barcelona i know because of Palo Santo . Happy to own this beautiful fragrance .
The new project they got is intriguing .
Beso Canalla sounds the really nice
…rustic pots full of lavender and wild orange…burnt sugar ….sandalwood, a touch of patchouli, and cistus

  • I really like the notes for the fragrances that are described as summer kisses. Great review by Robert. I am excited about Beso Negro. I live in CA, USA. Thank you for the draw.

  • I like the concept behind the perfumes and since we are in summer, I think it’s really fit for marketing too. Beso Canalla sounds like the one for me, with the blend of lavender, patchouli, woods and flowers. I am from the EU.

  • IvanVelikov says:

I knew the name Carner Barcelona because of Cafleurebon and Youtubers , but up util ~ 3 months i was not aware how great El Born is.Went to a team building and a guy was wearing in. It’s almost unreal , and i’m not a guy you could impress so easily . 1/4 of my bottle is already gone.

Sister company Beso i’ve never heard of before , but collaboration with famous restaurants is unique.
Beso Canalla sounds like a high quality every day type of fragrance.Fresh a bit spicy , woody and sweet. Exactly what i need for the summer.

I’d like to win a bottle.
Enjoyed the review , and thanks for the giveaway

I’ll be in France from 26-th of july , until 21-st of august for a childhood friend wedding , and my LONG waited vacation .I hope i’m qualified to enter for the bottle draw.

  • Love the powdery, sweet notes of violet in Beso Negro. But that drydown of woody, earthy notes really balances it all out. I absolutely love the sound of that one!
    I live in the US.

  • Restaurant and perfumery brand collaboration brings food associations. But Beso Negro seems not to have it at all. That’s why I choose Beso Negro. I come from Poland.

  • WaltherP99 says:

Spin off brands are super trendie . So much niche houses are doing it lately , that i just can’t keep up.
The bar is high , since it’s Carner Barcelona brand after all.
Oranges , sandalwood , patchouili and burned sugar – that’s all me when i want to have fun in the summer. My choice for sure.
D600 is the best one from Carner Barcelona from the ones i know.To me of course . My girfriend loves it on me – bought me a bottle , but she said she does not want me to wear it if she is not around haha
I do like a lot Palo Santo too – own a small 10ml decant , but unfortunately performance is not so good on me.
Thank you Robert for the introduction of this new Carner Barcelona project , and of course all involved in the draw.
London EU ( for now at least haha )

  • LORI LAWS says:

Excellent review by Robert! I love the concept of these fragrances that are tied to great vacation spots and summer kisses. Beso Negro was most appealing to me and my choice would be a bottle. “The scent of love is in the air” was my favorite line. Thanks for the giveaway and I live in the US!

  • Mihaela Ungureanu says:

Beso Beach Perfumes make me think at vacantion, relaxing time, beach and sun! My favourite one could be Bendito Beso because of Olivier Cresp. I am from EU!

  • DulciusExAsperis says:

Beso Beach – great names and I love the bottles! Where I live it gets very hot in the summer so these beachy, summer-vibe perfumes sound wonderful. I am in the USA.
