ESHAL by Neela Vermeire Creations Review (Bertrand Duchaufour) 2025 + A Tale of Tuberose Giveaway

Neela Vermeire of Neela Vermeire Creations revealed her latest fragrant triumph, ESHAL, at last month’s Esxence 2025, and it was a “succès fou” for myriad reasons. It had been nearly three years since her last  endeavor, Fragments by NVC, for one; she had valiantly struggled with ongoing momentous health issues which would have felled the heartiest amongst us; and she presented us with unrivaled olfactory optimism in liquid form. These factors alone would have sufficed, but the coup, quite frankly – lay in the jus: voluptuous, shimmering, and enticingly intricate. ESHAL was fortuitous nomenclature: alternatively translated as flower of heaven, flower of paradise, it is Arabic in origin – and may also connote pleasure, desire, and purity.

We in the West entertain many beliefs and lore regarding tuberose which are not necessarily globally acknowledged. In Victorian England, France, Mexico, Thailand – the tuberose is traditionally viewed as a dangerously seductive flower, one which potentially corrupts, often associated with death, troubling wraiths, and funerals. In India, however, it is a completely different story: Rajnigandha (aka English tuberose, as it is known in India) possesses cultural significance associated with devotion, love, and care. It is felt that the mere act of inhaling its fragrance during the hot sunny days when in full bloom inculcates happiness and wellbeing. Hindu tradition demands tuberose’s fragrant presence upon altars, for prayers to the deities; they are a must at weddings; and thought, overall – to purify one’s dwelling and attract the good things in life.

It is the sumptuous tuberose of Neela’s childhood (and every visit since) which she and Bertrand Duchaufour wished to evoke – the India which is immediately conjured by this flower’s overwhelming fullness and generosity. I agree with her that ESHAL is verdant, as a point of departure – but from there, it transmutates into a fragrant entity which traverses the profoundly spiritual and the sensual.

Is there anything so lovely as ESHAL’s initial burst of solar citrus? It is multi-hued, revealing layers of gradation courtesy of red mandarin, petitgrain (with all its verdancy), bigarade and lime. This citric bouquet is encircled by the warm, fresh gingery woodiness of turmeric and cinnamon: a spiced corona. We never lose sight of the comely tuberose, whose presence trails throughout ESHAL from start to finish; it smells fully-fleshed, garlanded with just enough galbanum to accentuate its green, heady floralcy.  If this doesn’t ensorcell you, you need only await what appears to be a deceptively minimalist base to complete the spell: furry, sweetly animalic beeswax, and leathery depth of labdanum gentled with a fine patchouli, vanilla, and Peru balsam. I firmly believe that one of the secrets of fine perfumery is an ability to harness the olfactory alchemy of premium materials in such a manner that each individual fragrant voice glows while establishing a harmonious whole. There is no doubt, in my mind – that ESHAL by Neela Vermeire Creations achieves this with a seeming effortlessness It is unselfconsciously generous of spirit, all the while maintaining a blithe and mysterious character.

These days, I’m not in the custom of ordering full bottles of perfume unless I’m absolutely [sic] certain, because a lifetime of accumulation and desire have taken up more space in my small dwelling than they have any right to. If I tell you that the very moment ESHAL was available, I ordered it – that should speak volumes. ESHAL by Neela Vermeire Creations is amongst the best of 2025 no matter how you look at it, and I am eager to spray myself with wanton abandon.

Notes: tuberose absolute, red mandarin, bitter orange, lime, petitgrain, cinnamon oil, turmeric oil, galbanum oil, beeswax absolute, patchouli oil, vanilla absolute, Peru balsam resin, labdanum absolute

  • I am not entering the draw because I already purchased Eshal sample but I must agree with lovely Ida, it is absolutely beautiful-so far my favourite from Neela. Admittedly, I am only half way through the samples but Eshal spoke to me right away. Tuberose is my favourite flower in perfumery and I very much relate to Neela’s personal story attached to creating this scent.

  • I love tuberose, especially when it’s green, spicy, woody, and has a dark undertone with a vintage touch. Eshal’s tuberose seems to promise all of this, complete with notes that I absolutely adore: bigarade, patchouli and beeswax. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to try it at Esxence, even though I attended this year. I really hope this fragrance is just as beautiful and evocative as Odor93 by Meo Fusciuni, and I wish to win it in the giveaway.

I want to be ensorcelled! Have been on the lookout for a new tuberose, the partnership of Neela Verneire and Bertrand Duchaufour is a can’t fail pairing. I really enjoyed Ida’s comparison of how the tuberose is viewed in the West versus the East, this offering clearly reflecting the love, devotion and care. ESHAL sounds like a brilliant blend of oils on a cozy blanket of comfort. I am sorry Neela faced health problems in the past few years. I truly hope she feels better and that this triumph will boost her spirit. I live in NY.

I just received Neela Vermeire sample set yesterday…finally! I was able to sample the whole range and I absolutely love these fragrances. They are so complex yet so harmonious. You can feel the elements and different notes but they are all blended so well that they create such a unique final composition. I was excited about this new release as well since tuberose is one of my favorite flowers. And the fact that Ida ordered a bottle is enough for me to be certain I need sample Eshal as well! Cheers from Illinois, USA.

  • Ida’s review of ESHAL by Neela Vermeire Creations captivated me with its vivid depiction of the fragrance’s composition and its cultural significance. I live in Poland, EU.

This sounds like a juicy green tuberose. Can’t wait to try it. My sister is in India and she was texting selfies of saris and tuberose garlands. I bet they smell wonderful! NY state

  • I have been hearing about Eshal, and being a tuberose devotee, I know I must try it. Neela Vermeire is one of a few brands which I can count on one hand that I always must try. I was lucky enough to live in India early in my marriage, and she truly captures the spiritual mysticism and outright exuberance of the country in each and every bottle. It does indeed speak volumes Ida that you ordered the bottle immediately. Like you, I am a lot more discerning these days in adding to my large collection, but I have a very strong feeling this one will be joining Ashoka, Trayee, Niral, and Rahele on my shelf. I’m in USA.

  • I have been so excited to try this since the moment I heard about it. I just loooove her Ashoka and Pichola, Trayee and Bombay Bling etc. She is a favorite! I am thankful to hear she is feeling better. I hope the tuberoses helped to heal her. I am deeply thankful to be on the list to hopefully win! I am in the USA.

  • I’m still looking for my dream tuberose, and am super intrigued by the cinnamon and turmeric notes. The only thing I’ve tried similar is the underrated golden milk scent from DSH. I’m a fan of naturals and appreciate seeing all of those absolutes listed in the notes! I can always appreciate a little beeswax in my florals. USA

I am from Italy and my country is marvelous
    But
I love traveling in the world
    I love different cultures
When I travel I love the scents that take you by surprise, the colors, the images, the views, the people
And when I’m not traveling I dream with perfumes

Neela’s perfumes make me feel good about myself, they don’t scream, they are next to me with grace
I don’t care if they make themselves heard by those around me, they are there welcoming and comforting just for me
I love their class and refinement

    Tuberose
No, I don’t love tuberose: I ‘am’ tuberose!!!!
Ever since I was a child, when my mother bathed me with a tuberose shower gel in a super chic bottle with a cork stopper
Well, my journey with tuberose was already marked in destiny

For all this I can’t wait to try Eshal (the sound of the name already enchants me!)
I will add it to my beloved Pichola, Bombay Bling, Mohur, Niral, Trayee

Thank you for the lovely review.

I’m yet to try a Neela Vermiere fragrance. I love all things tuberose, in all it’s white floral, waxy glory. I do remember garlands for religious occassions, sending their scent to the heavens. Esha seems to be a similar journey, with it’s bright florals, hints of spice and a beautiful steady base.

I would love to sample this.

    Cheers from WI, USA

I love that CaFleureBon is exposing me to so many houses I’ve never heard of. Neela Vermeire Creations is another that is new to me so I do not have a favorite yet. Tuberose is a favorite of mine and this sounds ethereal. The fact that Ida immediately found this full bottle worthy speaks volumes. I’d love to sample.

This ftagrance is a whole new lansldscape for me and I am loving every moment of the journey! This scent sounds like the scent I never knew I always wanted!

  • ESHAL sounds downright stunning. From the full citrus opening to the animalic and sweet base of beeswax, labdinum, and more – I would love to be able to try it!
    Best wishes from NJ!

  • This quite frankly sounds like a dream to me. What Ida said about it being a full-fleshed tuberose is something I will always be on the lookout for. It’s simply the most beautiful flower, and when mine aren’t blooming I’m reaching for perfumes to remind me of them. Would love to try this one, I’m a big fan of Neela Vermeire’s ever-elegant Trayee . I’m in Chicago, USA.

  • Thank you for this beautiful review! I am intrigued by the inspiration behind Eshal and the idea of a modern, fresh take on tuberose with Indian roots. Bertrand Duchaufour’s creations always tell a story, and I love how this one reflects a celebration of light, femininity, and joy. The description of cardamom, tuberose, and sandalwood makes it sound both comforting and radiant. I also enjoyed the poetic “Tale of Tuberose” and the way it ties into the fragrance’s spirit. I live in the EU, Romania, and would love to win a bottle of Eshal!

  • I love the warm verdancy of Neela’s take on tuberose, especially that multifaceted citrus and spice opening, painted with galbanum’s green cast. Also, the materials in the base sound both restrained and of exceptional quality. Wonderful review and ESHAL must be worth seeking out.

I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried any Neela Vermeire Creations fragrances.

  • Can’t wait to try this! I am a big fan of both Neela Vermeire and Betrand Duchaufour.

  • I’m was so jealous when I saw the branches of tuberose in the bouquets, a I never see tuberose at my local store (of course! ). What a luxury! I do love tuberose, and would love to sample this scent and try Ms Vermeire’s creation. Thank you so much for the review and draw. And what a special selfie of you both! I’m in the us.

Ida truly convinced me that I need to order a bottle of ESHAL. I enjoyed reading about the importance of tuberose in Indian culture. I also enjoyed her description of all the notes that compliment the tuberose, especially the beeswax and labdanum. I love Bombay Bling from Neela Vermeire. It is joy in a bottle.
