Electimuss Spice D’Arno (Céline Barel) 2024 + New Explorer’s Giveaway

Electimuss Spice D’Arno

Spice D’Arno is the first release from Electimuss’ new Explorer Collection, drawing inspiration from our Roman ancestors and their many roads travelled as their empire expanded. This new line is housed in a stunning orange glass flacon and insignia, glowing like a sunrise at dawn on a new adventure and perfumer Céline Barel takes us one through the city of Florence in which the Arno River flows. The way Electimuss Spice D’Arno has been composed is rather clever as its materials flow together taking us on a delicious journey that runs through like a river.

Some kind of serendipity happened with Electimuss’ Spice D’Arno, I’d been encountering lots of vanilla perfumes lately but nothing was quite doing it for me. One day the scent of vanilla was hanging in the air as a breeze brought a roasted wheat haze in from the Guinness Storehouse,(on brew days its aroma permeates the air for miles), that soft bran wheat aroma melding with vanilla became my Roman Empire. I looked to not avail, but Spice D’Arno arrived and I as I sprayed it for the first time, a big smile grew on my face. This was it and more!

Perfumer Céline Barel of IFF

Sharp fresh citruses shimmer with a sparkling pink pepper, it wakes you up before a stunning bean note takes centre stage with elemi giving the soft spiced citruses an aromatic twist while also feeling slightly incense like. Like a new thought for a new adventure. The bran note has stolen my heart; it’s incredibly unique in Electimuss Spice D’Arno, showing off its multiple facets as the perfume flows from start to end. It’s pops with pecan while also giving a slightly toasted hay nutty feel that gets deliciously creamy as cardamom smoothens things out, whispering of the creamy dreams to come. The Bran Absolute LMR has this beautiful warmth like you’re walking into a soft heat with an almost dry honeyed facet feeling almost floral at its edges. Perfumer Céline Barel expertly expands these floral facets with a soft iris, which also nods conceptually to Florence, the city in which this river flows and Florentine Iris. The iris picks up from the cardamom giving it a powdery elegance that’s dry with the bran dominant, getting more and more like a delicious wheaty chocolate powder as a woody rich vanilla emerges. There’s hints of oud peaking over the horizon giving a darker facet that works as the clever counterpart to the elegant dusty vanilla sweetness. Narcotic whispers of orange blossom speak of new desires and adventures, purring with a gentle animalic undertone, leaning into the oud and aromatic thyme, giving a new textured woodiness. A gentle leather accord forms, feeling dry from the warmth of the bran, yet gentle as the powdery dusty suede’s sensual nap moves softly, caressing your skin. A buttery feel emerges as the oud edges further forward.

Vanilla planifolia

As the perfume’s journey ends, a soft powdery richness lingers on your skin, with cashmeran’s flowing trail like it’s in a breeze as a powdery chocolate woody vanilla wraps around you like a gentle warm layer. Myrrh and a soft yet rich oud purrs with a gentle balsamic quiet intensity. It just injects this beautiful balsamic resinous amber warming the iris leather facet, as the aromatic aroma still haunting the edges with a floral softness. A gentle reminder of where this journey began all fresh and bright as light fades, but its roots are still there. Electimuss Spice D’Arno is my kind of vanilla, with that stunning bran note and gentle leather feel,  it’s my Roman Empire and one of my favourites releases of the year so far. The closest thing I could compare it to is Andy Tauer’s L’Air Du Desert Morocain, but Electimuss Spice D’Arno smells unique, especially with the bran note there’s more of dessert than desert in Spice D’Arno, while not being totally gourmand. It’s a vanilla for those who don’t want to smell like a cake, but enjoy all those woody gourmand facets and has a quiet toughness that flows all day. The oud seems to stay back as the vanilla merges with the bran forming this soft musky chocolate woody haze with a darkly sweet whisper of balsamic resins bubbling quietly with a soft warm spice.

Electimuss Spice D’Arno’s bran and vanilla combination is delicious but it’s the softly sensual florals and gently tough leather and woody oud that make it feel special. It’s also the clever flow of the cardamom, iris to vanilla too, this gives it movement as it dries down.

Notes: Pink pepper (LMR), bergamot, lemon, cardamom (LMR), elemi, leather, bran absolute (LMR), cistus absolute (LMR), thyme, iris, orange flower, Oud, vanilla (LMR), myrrh, cashmeran

  • This sounds all kinds of delicious. The review captures what sounds like a real journey from beginning to end – from bright citrus and pepper opening, through vanilla and bran, to a deep dark resinous base. This just made my mouth water though: “ the bright delicious wheaty chocolate powder as a woody rich vanilla emerges”. Yum!

Electimuss has been dropping bangers lately and this one seems to be another hit! As I was reading the article I could not help but think this is the fragrance that would be worn on Planet Arrakis in Dune: a spicy, dry, woody vanilla. I personally love an overly sweet vanilla but also love all types of vanilla truly. The new orange flacon is truly beautiful and we can never forget how heavy these bottles are. I can see this one being one of J’s favorite releases at the end of the year’s picks as the story of smelling the vanilla in the air as soon as the package arrives reminded J of how much he was missing an unique/different vanilla. My favorite Electimuss by default since it’s the only one I have is Trajan which is still an iconic release from the brand. Cheers from USA.

  • As a fan of incense, I’m interested in trying Spice D’Arno. The thyme, iris, orange flower, Oud, leather and myrrh notes sound like a perfect combination. I’d like to wear this fragrance during the cooler fall months. My favorite from Electimus London is Patchouli of the Underworld. Michigan USA

  • My favorite Electimuss fragrance is Trajan but admittedly I haven’t tried many other of their fragrances just yet! Spice D’Arno’s bran note sounds like such an interesting departure from the typical supporting cast of warm, rich, earthy notes typically found in note pyramids like this and I love that the review really helps with illustrating how it interacts with the rest of the fragrance and delivers that transportive Roman Empire experience. Spice D’Arno seems opulent but not too rich or cumbersome—deliciously warm but not gourmand-y. Would love to try this out!

What appeals to me most about J’s review of Electimuss Spice D’Arno is the detailed and evocative description of the fragrance journey. J’s ability to capture the essence of each note and how they interact to create a unique and memorable scent experience is truly captivating. The combination of vanilla, bran, and the subtle leathery undertones sounds intriguing and sophisticated. My favorite Electimuss London perfume is currently Black Caviar for its rich and luxurious blend of notes.

  • I really respect j Wearescentient and if he’s keen on Electimuss Spice D’ARNO then it must be incredibl. I don’t think I have heard of bran in perfume, and there are so many vanillas this stands out because I don’t want to smell like cake.

my favorite Electimuss is Patchouli of the Underworld. I hope you review this because it’s incredibly spicy and nota typical patchouli

  • Oh, wow, this sounds really nice. Like J, many recent vanillas have been a bit “meh” and haven’t stirred much interest. I really like the idea of the wheat bran facets in this one, offering sun-baked and floral tones. Iris is also a favorite note of mine and I love when it’s mixed with vanilla. I would love to give this one a shot. So far my favorite from Electimuss is Cupid’s Kiss. Perhaps this one could dethrone it? Best of luck to all. I live in NC, USA.

I loved Florence when I visited a few years ago. I don’t have much experience with the house of Electimuss London but have heard some great things about it. I love the note of myrrh and mixed with vanilla and pink pepper, wow, something to definitely get your nose on. Not to mention the presentation is beautiful.

J’s review of Electimuss Spice D’Arno captivates me with its vivid imagery and evocative descriptions. The way J intertwines the scent’s journey with historical and sensory elements, like the warm notes of bran and vanilla blending with the fresh, aromatic spices, paints a truly immersive experience. The comparison to Andy Tauer’s L’Air Du Desert Morocain, while emphasizing Spice D’Arno’s unique dessert-like quality, highlights its distinctiveness and appeals to those seeking a sophisticated, non-gourmand vanilla scent. The intricate layering of notes and the narrative of exploration and adventure make this fragrance sound enchanting and multifaceted.

My favourite from Electimuss is Puritas

I am from the EU (Germany)

  • The only Electimuss London fragrance I’ve smelled is Amber Aquilaria, it smells fantastic , boozy woody vanilla with a touch of rose. To my knowledge the house most popular fragrance, at least on Instagram and YouTube, Steven is also praising it regularly in his Fall and Winter top10 videos.
I don’t think I’ve ever smelled anything made by Céline Barel but bran , iris , spices , leather , natural oud on top of ambery vanilla combination is a match made in Heaven.
What appeals to me in J review is how genuinely amazed he is by Electimuss London fragrances as a brand , and in particular Spice D’Arno , it’s not just a review he had to do, he enjoyed it every single moment.
I like the woody vanilla , the toasty nutty feel and wheaty chocolate powder the most, together with leather and complex facet, the sustainability motto , and of course the incense twist.
Cozy , classy and a bit lustful at the same time, I’d love to win Spice D’Arno.
    Thanks for the draw

The glow from the bottle alone is captivating! Bran as a note is rather unique (at least to me) and J’s description of how it works with the vanilla, softly sensual florals and leather sounds like something you’d want to wrap yourself in! My fave from Electimus so far is Imperium-it just works on me. Cheers from OH, USA! 🙂

  • J’s review really paints a picture of this intriguing Parfum. Love that it’s more dessert than desert. Spicy , vanilla, resinous soy ds fantastic. This house is new to me. I would love to sample. April from Minnesota USA.

  • The comparison with L’air du desert marocain got me! But then, when I read “more unique”, that’s when I realized we’re dealing with something truly special.
J did a terrific job feeding my imagination with Spice d’Arno’s description: vanilla but not a gourmand bomb, soft and iris-y with leathery and woody facets. Sounds terribly elegant and an absolute year rounder!
I live in the EU and never tried Electimuss before.

  • What really grabbed me in J’s review was the detailed journey of Spice D’Arno’s scent. The way it starts with bright citruses and pink pepper, moves through unique bran and creamy cardamom, and finishes with rich vanilla and oud sounds amazing. I also love the Roman Empire and Florence inspiration behind it. The combination of warm, woody, and slightly floral notes makes it seem like a perfect balance of sweet and spicy. I’m really curious to try this fragrance because it sounds like a vanilla scent with a lot of depth and character. Thanks for the draw, from the USA.

  • I enjoyed J’s reference of Spice D’Arno to a expanding Roman Empire. The pefume is a definition of evolution of scent from it initial smell of vanilla, citrus, and roasted wheat haze to a dry down of powdery, leather, woody chocolate vanilla the gently permeated your nose. Its an alternative for a vanilla gourmand fragrance while not losing any of it identity a unique traits. I hope I can get my hand on this one since it will be my first vanilla fragrance. I’m from California USA

  • Late last year I ordered Electimuss London , at the time current sample set, and I’m impressed , true lavishness for the senses. So many beautiful fragrances , gourmands , aromatics, shypres … all smelling luxury, long lasting, and rather unique.
Bought the sample set from Essenza Nobile , the biggest German niche boutique and distributor, and at the time of my purchase unfortunately the new orange glass falcon Explorer Collection was not yet on the market.
Spicy vanilla, floral softness, suede leather, gentle woods , cacao and iris fragrance made by Céline Barel , I know her for the fragrances she made for Scents of Wood … Sounds fantastic, I can tell Electimuss London commitment to artistry and innovation continues with Spice D’Arno , sustainable LMR ingredients , and complicated kind of not overly gourmand vanilla inspiration. The bran is a note that will give Spice D’Arno sense of originality.
Persephone’s Patchouli and Amber Aquilaria are the two Electimuss London fragrances i like the most
    Thanks to all involved

Reading the essay made me think of how unique Spice D’Arno must be if J Wearescentient can barely compare to anything else.
Vivid atmosphere of vanilla, bran , powdery cacao , orris , suede and sandalwood stepping on foundation of depth and complexity, Spice D’Arno is elaborate fragrance i’d really like to win.

I believe it’s easy to say J Wearescentient enjoyed exploring Spice D’Arno way more than usual.
The idea of adding bran to woody vanilla, spices , chocolate powder, leather and oud only comes to show the creative part of Céline Barel character.
Powerful and novelty vanilla fragrance, with lots of twists , no wonder J Wearescentient thinks Spice D’Arno is his Roman Empire , and one of the best fragrances he smelled for the year.

  • Just when you think all the vanillas have been done another comes along to pull you back in!! I know that smell of fresh grounded wheat and roasted wheat and it has a sweetness to it that’s so addictive and cozy and would be stunning with vanilla and Iris, adding the cardamom and orange flower is just the cherry on a big sundae!

  • Have not tried anything by this house, but I do know they have quite a following in the online perfumistic world, with some of them fragrances having cult-like status. I am excited to try Spice d’Arno as I really enjoy a nice vanilla mixed with sensual flowers. Thanks!

  • Amazing review just like Electimuss. I love the connection to the city of Florence and the Arno river. I am sure that Electimuss Spice D’Arno smells unique just like all their perfumes.

  • Electimuss Spice D’Arno sounds divine, especially for cold weather. I am not keen on vanilla, not the foody kind anyway, but paired with spices and oud is actually something that I enjoy. Also, I don’t recall smelling bran in perfumes before but J’s review gave me the feeling that Spice D’Arno is deliciously beautiful. I would love to smell it. And as a side note, that bottle is so pretty! 🙂

J’s review, via his descriptive article, has taken me on quite the olfactive journey. I like the notes presented in Electimuss’ latest creation. But even more so, how these notes are presented. Like J stated, it takes you down the Arno River through Florence in Roman times…it expresses not only where you are in the journey but gives you a glimpse of what lies ahead on the horizon. Then as if a tailwind comes upon you, it gives a gentle reminder of where you just journeyed from. This sounds wonderful 🙂

Even though I just recently started delving into niche perfumery with just 8 bottles in my possession I’ve heard of Electimuss London and even smelled Amber Aquilaria , the best boozy fragrance !
The aromatic , musky and floral parts of the fragrance do make the fragrance very different from Amber Aquilaria , in my view Spice D’Arno is a different vanilla, still sweet but not as sugary, with bran, woods ,iris ,suede leather and powdery chocolate , Electimuss London owners and Céline Barel affinity for craftsmanship definitely come from within.
“has a quite toughness that flows all say” … let it flow J , let it flow
    EU Thank you

  • gourmand facets and has a quiet toughness that flows all day.

Notes: Pink pepper (LMR), bergamot, lemon, cardamom (LMR), elemi, leather, bran absolute (LMR), cistus absolute (LMR), thyme, iris, orange flower, Oud, vanilla (LMR), myrrh, cashmeran. I am fascinated by bran and vanilla combination and the leather and woody Oud. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • I never ever thought about it before but thanks to J Wearescentient i started thinking about vanilla and bran combination ,Spice D’Arno is such a sophisticated woody gourmand.
I believe Céline Barel has carefully chosen every single raw material , so the fragrance can tell a different and more unique vanilla story. Thanks to J Wearescentient I’m now curious about the new Spice D’Arno from the Explorer Collection fragrance, and the way it evolves. The contrast between the the vanilla with toasted nutty feel and spices, the powdery iris and cacao , woody haze and of course the suede leather aroma is to die for.
I know I’d feel special wearing Spice D’Arno , exactly the way J Wearescentient felt

I do hope to test Spice d’Arno soon as it would mean to dip my toe in the water so to speak as I have never tried anything by Electimuss nor by Celine Barel. Warm spices, oud, vanilla – they all sound right up my alley! Excited for this one!
    Thank you! EU

  • I would like to win this perfume because I don’t think I’ve ever smelled bran in a perfume. I hate vanilla in perfumes because it always reminds me of baking but L’Air du Désert Marocain is my favorite perfume of all time! I tried Vici leather from Electimuss and I wasn’t impressed at all. I’m waiting to find a perfume that I will like from Electimuss because for the moment for me it’s just an ultra bling bling brand that hasn’t yet created a work of art. She spends money on raw materials, bottles and hiring exceptional perfumers but does she really have a real artistic vision. I live in France, EU.

  • I’m interested know Spice D’Arno is the first release from Electimuss’ new Explorer Collection. I really love the break down of the notes. Perfect for Summertime.USA

  • Oh wow, this sounds fantastic, it contains a lot of notes I love, however I’ve never smelled a Bran note. It’s described as being nutty, also giving a dry honeyed smell. The addition of iris, leather and myrrh can only add to how green this sounds. I haven’t experienced any Electimuss fragrances yet, unfortunately.

Since Amber Aquilaria is my fave , and J Wearescentient complex and picky nature is very much similar to mine I’d like to say I’m thankful for the chance of winning Spice D’Arno
Taking into consideration my impressions of Amber Aquilaria superior quality, and the awesome article by J i believe Spice D’Arno is a novelty vanilla fragrance, something I’ve never smelled before.
It’s vital to me that the new fragrance by Céline Barel even though sharing some characteristics is different than Amber Aquilaria . Both to contain spicy and woody nuances, the vanilla and zesty opening, but that’s where the similarities ends. While Amber Aquilaria goes into very boozy and rosy directions, Spice D’Arno is more aromatic, powdery cacao and Florentine iris, and unique wheat bran aroma .
I’m thrilled by the article and Spice D’Arno composition.

Electimuss Spice D’Arno really does sounds delicious! I live in Portugal. Thank you J for passionately advocating for vanilla.

  • This vanilla sounds like one I might enjoy. Often they sounds or smell too yummy, more like baked goods or marshmallow, that I wouldn’t want to wear, but this one, with this intriguing bran element, sounds really interesting, especially with the other notes of iris, cashmeran, oud and myrrh. Céline Barel is the author of a 3 fragrances I love Patchouli in Rye and Leather in Bourbon from Scents of Wood, and Squid from Zoologist Perfumes.
I like the Italian connection J Wearescentient made letting us know about the new Explorer Collection drawing inspiration from the Roman ancestors, and with Spice D’Arno in particular from the city of Florence in which Arno River flows.
I’ve heard Electimuss London praised by many people online, but I still have to discover their upscale fragrances. I like doubling down on sustainability approach by the brand, beautiful bottles , originality and quality of the fragrances. Spice D’Arno is attractive because how complex it is , with spicy and woody vanilla, chocolate and iris, and the unique note of wheat bran.
Not a simplistic vanilla by any means, the fragrance impressed J Wearescentient to such degree that a big smile grew on his face right away after the first spray.

  • Captivating introduction about the new Explorer Collection and the Roman roads from the past, and enthusiastic take on Electimuss London Spice D’Arno , job well done J Wearescentient .
I can’t help but to be impressed how the owners of Electimuss London gave Céline Barel a platform to create a very special vanilla fragrance with bran wheat, not carrying much about the competition and what’s popular on the market.
I’m exposed to niche perfumery, but not yet to Electimuss London. Other than the bran wheat I also find Spice D’Arno delightful for the iris and cacao on one part , and the premium suede leather and oud on the other. Various ingredients i like assorted to the greater extent by Céline Barel.

All fragrances can tell a story, some are passionate, some are sad and other do have a happy ending . I think in Spice D’Arno there’s no sad parts , and everything is leading to good memories and smiles. J Wearescentient even said that himself how the fragrance made him smile from the very beginning.
I have a feeling there’s a synergy between J and Electimuss London , the brand and him are sharing the same dreams , vision and strive for originality .
I have a keen interest in Spice D’Arno because of J cosmopolitan personality , and how delicious the scent is . I find the blend of woody vanilla , toasted nutty feel, chocolate, iris and bran wheat mouthwatering. The floral softness is welcomed too .
I do have a favorite Electimuss London fragrance – Persephone’s Patchouli

J’s review of Electimuss Spice D’Arno enchants with its vivid imagery and rich descriptions. The fusion of warm bran, vanilla, and fresh spices offers an immersive experience. Comparing it to Andy Tauer’s L’Air Du Desert Morocain emphasizes its distinctive dessert-like quality, perfect for those desiring a refined, non-gourmand vanilla scent. The complex layering and adventurous narrative make this fragrance appear both enchanting and intricate.

I enjoy greatly J Wearescentient positivity, dedication , tenderness for art in perfumery , and the approach towards Cafleurebon articles .
I believe that if I speak with them face to face I’d feel enclosed with never ending ambition and passion , but also with modesty and respect simultaneously. I wish I was there with him when he strayed Electimuss London Spice D’Arno for the first time just to see his facial expression 🙂
Everything in the new fragrance from the Explorer Collection is on its own place, the orange and gold looking bottle, the resins, bran wheat, dry honeyed florals, chocolate and of course the woody vanilla. J said Spice D’Arno doesn’t smell like a some hand made pastries , still it sounds really yummy .

Spice D’Arno by Electimuss London i think is modern, multifaceted fragrance with a high compliment factor.
All nuances J Wearescentient told us about i find attractive, the spices , the leather, the iris, natural oud , chocolate powder and the elegant dusty vanilla sweetness. I’m also really looking for the bran wheat aromatic twist, because I’ve never smelled anything like that before, even J was surprised in a good way.
Good performance, and complint factor are always welcomed , Electimuss London and do know well how to make it happen with sustainable ingredients 10ml decant of Amber Aquilaria is in my possession, compliments galore every single time I’m wearing it .
The whole article, not just Spice D’Arno information made me smile , thanks J

I´m imagining maybe bran was a staple of the Roman army that has achieved big things. It sounds intriguing, being kind of spicy, nutty, gourmandy, green fragrance, including lemon and myrrh. Quiet touhgness incorporating soft spice and ambery balsamic resins is what beckons me into this creation.

  • David Furman says:

Wow this sounds well thought out and executed. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Electimuss as a whole but I’ve never had the pleasure of testing or owning one myself. This sounds like a subtle spice that’s lighter and somewhat sweet overall. I hope the iris is on par with the bran or overshadows it. I love iris as a mid and it takes this down the dark and deep oud journey towards the end. I would like to be elected as the winner. From Jacksonville, NC.

A scent journey can be so powerful, bringing you back to that experience from your past or dreaming of new adventures. Andy Tauer’s L’Air Du Desert Marocain is one of my favorites at invoking a place. If Electimuss Spice D’Arno is even half as powerful at that, I’ll have to get a sample and enjoy. I haven’t tried any Electimuss yet, but Aquila Absolute looks great with that raspberry and leather. From USA.

Love the idea of adding bran wheat nuances to woody dusty vanilla , Spice D’Arno was crafted from a passionate belief in creativity and originality.
Spice D’Arno is a fragrance based on collaboration between perfumer Céline Barel and Electimuss London using LMR oils , high oil concentration, and it’s inspired by one of the most beautiful cities in the world Florence , J Wearescentient was able to capture my interest. Lingering resonance of LMR ingredients, oud , orris leather and some cozy powdery sweetness from the cocoa , not to mention the very unique note of bran wheat, I’m even more interested now.
Never been to Florence, or know how the area around Guinness Storehouse smells like , but thanks to J both places are in my wish list to visit.
Thank you Céline Barel, Electimuss London, J , and also thank you for the generosity

    Hello from UK
Jovoy UK boutique in Mayfair is where I first discovered Electimuss London fragrances , and bought Amber Aquilaria right away . Recently I went there again to try something else but instead I bought Cupid’s Kiss, another Electimuss beauty.
Spice D’Arno is an olfactory journey that captures the essence of power, beauty and different kind of vanilla , variety that can make you smile. The soft bran wheat aroma is quite interesting, me personally never smelled or even heard of another fragrance containing the same note.
To my knowledge all Electimuss London fragrances are 25 or above percent oil concentration, and I’m glad Spice D’Arno is again powerful with captivating sillage. The dry honeyed facets, dry cocoa and iris, suede all nodes to Florence, and the local way of life.
I already feel special wearing Amber Aquilaria and Cupid’s Kiss, I know I’d feel the same wearing Spice D’Arno like J suggested.
To my my taste Amber Aquilaria is the best Electimuss London fragrance, work of art boozy amber.
    Thank you so much

  • The journey sounds wonderful, and I love the river allusions, but the most intriguing aspect to me is the bran note, as I have similar memories of factory scents that invoke this kind of feeling. I live in the US and haven’t got a favorite Electimuss London favorite yet!

  • Some kind of serendipity happened with Electimuss’ Spice D’Arno, I’d been encountering lots of vanilla perfumes lately but nothing was quite doing it for me.

So that’s how a connoisseur sounds when he’s greatly impressed , Spice D’Arno had such an impact on J he almost went to a dreamland…or at least to Florence 😉
It has been a pleasure learning about Céline Barel and the first fragrance from the new Explorer Collection . Electimuss London development is remarkable and their future is bright , no questions asked. In my opinion they do everything right, top presentations, sophisticated fragrances made with top quality mostly LRM ingredients, and working with renowned perfumers like Christian Provenzano, Julien Rasquinet , Cécile Zarokian and Céline Barel. I know all fragrances by Electimuss London, including Spice D’Arno and if I have to rate my favorite ones:
    1. Amber Aquilaria i own
    2. Persephone’s Patchouli / Cupid’s Kiss
    3. Spice D’Arno / Vanilla Edesia
My opinion of the fragrance is similar, but also different from what J is getting. Like all Electimuss London fragrances Spice D’Arno is sophisticated , complex and going through a lot of phases.
To me the opening is fresh and spicy indeed, but then contrary to its name Spice D’Arno instantly feels like a true vanilla fragrance in comparison to the super spicy and woody Vanilla Edesia. Again I agree with J how the cardamom smoothens things out, in overall Spice D’Arno is less heavy on the spices in comparison to for example Aquila Absolute.
Where me and J differ from each other is the bran wheat and the floral accords , the level of sweetness and the leather. To me the aromatic and herbal facets are there yes , but more in the background and also the leather is not just a facet but a main character on the front row.
Like I said the suede leather is quite prominent, cozy and not rough or animalic. To me In the drydown of Spice D’Arno almost all aromatic and herbal accords are gone , and I can enjoy a beautiful warm , sweet and spicy leather fragrance.
I guess the fragrance is not as sweet on J skin , because especially in the drydown I can easily see someone making a cake comparison.
Of course people perceive fragrances differently, but I also wear L’Air Du Desert Marocain for close to 20 years and personality i don’t get much of similarities with Spice D’Arno . Since J did it , If I have to make my own comparison I’d say I can sense some traces of Oak in Oak and Leather in Bourbon, two fragrances again composed by Céline Barel for Scents of Wood.
All profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

I just recently discovered Cafleurebon and J Wearescentient thanks to Redolessence invitation. Considering how knowledgeable J is , I’m surprised by his enthusiasm for Spice D’Arno , I think he was as thrilled as he ever been when he smelled it for the 1st time.
There are so many good vanilla fragrances on the market right now, but creating not just good but also unique vanilla is something major.
I’d like to share my favorite part of the thoughtful review
“The oud seems to stay back as the vanilla merges with the bran forming this soft musky chocolate woody haze with a darkly sweet whisper of balsamic resins bubbling quietly with a soft warm spice.”
Love, love and love again. It’s remarkable that Céline Barel is thinking outside of the box , and found the balance between wearability and originality.
Like everything in real life some components of Spice D’Arno are gentle like the jasmine, and iris some delicious like the vanilla and toasted nutty feel, others cozy like the suede leather . The balance between the sweetness , wheat bran and spices I’m looking for the most.

I like how she was not really bothered by what other niche brands were doing, and now is igniting the interest of fragrance enthusiasts worldwide by her own style and methods , adding bran wheat to the traditional vanilla game. I enjoyed J Wearescentient article, and his take on Electimuss London Spice D’Arno even though some statements confused me quite a bit

“Electimuss Spice D’Arno smells unique, especially with the bran note there’s more of dessert than desert in Spice D’Arno , while not being totally gourmand . It’s a vanilla for those who don’t want to smell like a cake”

What exactly do you mean by “totally gourmand” and “It’s a vanilla for those who don’t want to smell like a cake” ?!? I genuinely don’t know and I’m a professional in the field with lots of experience, and in the process of opening my second bakery.
Coming from a Classically trained in Paris Pastry Chef who had the honor of meeting, training for years, and working under the great Pierre Hermé, top 3 Pastry Chefs and Chocolatiers in the world i’m not sure if I can grasp the whole picture. If my understanding is correct J believes that bran note gives Spice D’Arno some unique gourmand features , while the fragrance not being syrupy sweet .
In perfumery it could be something new , but in culinary Bran Wheat Vanilla desserts are common. Even though I’m still a bit confused, J’s take on Spice D’Arno made me think of being in Florence, making Cardamom Bran Vanilla Cupcakes and later on eating them while enjoying Arno River views
I own my favorite Electimuss London fragrance Amber Aquilaria, and I also own 10ml travel spray of Cupid’s Kiss

  • The description of Spice D’Arno is incredibly captivating! The blend of saffron and oud sounds like a luxurious combination that would provide both warmth and richness. I’m particularly intrigued by the use of red pepper in the top notes, which promises an initial burst of spice that must be very invigorating. I can’t wait to experience how this fragrance evolves on the skin over time

  • Celine Barel’s creation for Electimuss sounds like a masterpiece. The intricate layering of notes, from the bright citrus opening to the deep, woody base, seems to offer a complex and evolving scent profile. I appreciate the mention of the balsamic and amber facets, as they tend to add a sensual depth to perfumes. This one definitely goes on my must-try list for 2024!

  • My takeaway about Electimuss London and J Wearescentient work with a quote from the article

“The bran note has stolen my heart; it’s incredibly unique in Electimuss Spice D’Arno, showing off its multiple facets as the perfume flows from start to end. It’s pops with pecan while also giving a slightly toasted hay nutty feel that gets deliciously creamy as cardamom smoothens things out, whispering of the creamy dreams to come”

Unquestionably dedication is a must for the 21st century dire competition, and expectations are beyond high for everyone , in particular for niche fragrance brands.
Céline Barel actually feels the need to create and design the best fragrances possible, she already has LMR ingredients in her disposal , everything else needs to be perfect too accepting nothing nearly right or good enough.
Judging by the ancient Rome Empire introduction , J Wearescentient honest opinion, and how ecstatic he is describing Spice D’Arno , all makes me feel sophisticated woody vanilla fragrance with toasted nutty and leathery appeal is already on the market.
The marvelous looking bottle of course is something to be expected from the brand, the gold and orange colorway is so pretty. Cupid’s Kiss is my favorite Electimuss London fragrance. Thank you

  • Once again all the Cafleurebon information delivered by J Wearescentient made me wonder, and think for a moment
“..that soft bran wheat aroma melding with vanilla became my Roman Empire”
Where I should even start with this time ?!? Should I start with J passion for creative fragrances , Andy Tauer’s L’Air Du Desert Marocain comparison , Céline Barel delicious spicy-woody warm vanilla , or maybe the emotional connection between Explorer Collection and the region of Florence and its diverse culture ,all are equally as important for the forming of Spice D’Arno identity .
Thanks to J I know Spice D’Arno is so special, showing up the true elegance of niche perfumery .

  • The bran note featured in Spice D’Arno sounds lovely and dynamic, adding pastoral warmth and nuttiness to the florals and spice. And it’s an interesting pairing with vanilla; a “roasty haze” but for those “who don’t want to smell like a cake.” Céline Barel’s fragrances usually impress and Electimuss Spice D’Arno is another I’d love to try.

I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried any Electimuss London perfumes.

  • Really enjoyed the description J gives to each note present and how they intermingle in this fragrance. Really enjoy citrus fragrances so this review really caught my eye. The brand of Electimuss i don’t know yet , the talanted Céline Barel i do because of Squid by Zoologist Perfumes.
Olya Bar once said perfumes can trigger past memories and forge future ones, Spice D’Arno instantly triggered J Wearescentient memories of a roasted wheat haze in front of Guinness Storehouse, and is keep forging a lot of new ones with its compex and sweet, but not quite cake like aroma.
Cocolate vanilla, cardamom , woods and iris are favorites of mine, let alone how J Wearescentient said Spice D’Arno whispers with balsamic resins bubbling quietly a soft warm spice , exquisite pleasure I’d love to win.
Thank you very much Electimuss and Céline Barel, and special thanks to J Wearescentient for the hard work

  • Just by reading the article I visualized the exact same moment when J Wearescentient sprayed Electimuss Spice D’Arno on skin for the first time , I can almost see the delightfulness in his eyes .
There are other niche brands with luxurious boxes and bottles, what differentiate Electimuss is the fact that they actually deliver upscale refined fragrances like no other .
Personally I’ve never smelled vanilla fragrance with bran wheat accord, slightly incense like , nutty and with beautiful iris and suede leather , kudos for the idea.
I’m right in between terms of gourmands, I like Starbucks cupcakes like gourmands just like I like the more discreet and not overly aggressive gourmands like Spice D’Arno.
I aso like how J included extra information about Florence and Céline Barel.

    Hey there 🙂
I started reading the blog in May , and it’s about time for me to finally subscribe.
There are three equally as great Electimuss London fragrances Cupid’s Kiss, Amber Aquilaria and Persephone’s Patchouli. On second thought maybe Amber Aquilaria is the best Electimuss but it’s close.
Predicated on J Wearescentient fine tune read Spice D’Arno may resemble Cupid’s Kiss a bit , but Céline Barel decision to integrate nutty wheat bran changes the vanilla game , giving the fragrance more aromatic characteristics . The suede is also more sensual , and not straight to your face like in Cupid’s Kiss.
The unique merging of vanilla and bran is the most appealing side of Spice D’Arno, I’m expecting for the soft musky chocolate woody haze, resins and warm spice that J said came as a result of the merging.

There’s nothing basic on Cafleurebon , both the the fragrances and the fragrance information here are multidimensional every time.
I’ve been to Florence a couple of times, and I’ve seen the Arno River , the rafting under the Pontevecchio Arches I’ll never forget. Céline Barel and Electimuss set the bar , really … really high if the city and the river are the inspirations behind Spice D’Arno.
I know niche fragrances and with the fearsome competitiveness on the market i need something to really grab my attention, and Electimuss Spice D’Arno high quality raw materials, Florence connection, soft bran wheat aroma melding with the woody spicy and floral vanilla did the trick for me.

J Wearescentient examination of Spice D’Arno fascinated me , the fragrance is so posh , and the new orange flacon is truly beautiful .
The bran note is the peculiar departure from the typical boozy , woody or floral vanilla’s on the market and the main reason I’m so intrigued.

  • J’s review really paints a picture of this intricate fragrance . What really grabbed me in his review was Spice D’Arno extensive journey.
The way it starts with sharp citruses and pink pepper, goes through toasted hay nutty feel with a bit of incense bran, and finishes with rich woody vanilla sensual suede , I’m keen on that.
I also love the Roman Empire , Florence and Arno River inspiration behind Spice D’Arno. Céline Barel was able to achieve the perfect balance between sweet, woody and spicy on one part, and comfort and originality on another. Depending on J experience with the fragrance I’m convinced Spice D’Arno is a very special vanilla fragrance with lots of depth, and unique character

Electimuss London and Céline Barel have built unorthodox fragrance from ground zero , admirable approach. Even J Wearescentient was caught off guard by Spice D’Arno novelty smell
The spicy woody vanilla, gentle resins, iris and suede together with the toasted bran combination comes as a gentle reminder of how there are still brands like Electimuss and perfumers like Céline Barel who still posses imagination, and value inventiveness .
