Cupid’s Kiss is the newest offering from the renowned Electimuss London, composed by the talented perfumer Julian Rasquinet, (who earlier this year became a Senior Perfumer at CPL Aromas). This beautiful scent takes us on a luxurious journey through the complex emotions of love, while showing off some stunning materials. He gives us love with all its bumps and hurdles; life isn’t like the movies, because true love is a beautiful adventure that unfolds gradually. While Cupid’s arrow may awaken your heart, it is the enchanting power of Cupid’s Kiss that nurtures and blossoms true love over time.

In archery, there’s a term that beginners quickly become familiar with – the archer’s kiss. It’s that sharp sting you feel when the string snaps against your arm due to improper bow arm positioning. You soon realise the importance of a bracer, a leather guard that offers some protection, although you can still feel the impact as you strive to perfect your technique. The archer’s kiss is like a sudden electric shock, disrupting your focus much like the moment when Cupid’s arrow strikes and love makes its mark. However, just like in archery, getting love right the first time isn’t always a guarantee. As Electimuss say in the press release, “whichever form of love we consider, one thing is certain; it is complicated.” It’s true, whilst we think that love is instant, as Cupid’s arrow hits you: his kiss, well that’s something that takes its time to evolve, but its effects are long lasting, taking you on this journey where you get the rough with the smooch as two distinct elements tango slowly turning into one elegant sensation after a long dry down. Like deep love, Electimuss London Cupid’s Kiss takes its time to fully develop, but its journey and the bond it forms are deep.

Electimuss London Cupid’s Kiss fires its opening shots with a beautiful bright barrage of a spicy fruity pink pepper with a fresh bergamot dripping from where the sharp arrows hit you. It’s got this rather clever duality where two distinct elements are vying for attention, it’s like two personalities meeting and working out the dance they’re about to do. One side shimmers with a metallic mineralic essence from immortelle, surrounded by gentle woods, while a generous amount of pink pepper adds a dry, sandy sensation. The other side is soft, creamy and alluring thanks to the orris LMR that gives a powdery cacao kiss whispering of a peach sweetness. Slowly the orris starts to lean into the more floral aspects of its partner immortelle, letting it crack a little sweet smile.

The two elements in Cupid’s Kiss move back and forth, working out their groove, finding their own rhythm, letting their elements rise up and down like waves. That delicious chocolate orris flows over peppery spices each taking the lead at various points. As you delve deeper, you encounter powerful textured suede that manages to be both tough and sensual. It’s a rugged spice embraced by a musky orris woody smoothness, as if the suede and spice are coming together in a passionate tango. As the base notes slowly emerges a musky and smoky quality rises, while a creamy soft sandalwood incense smoke delicately wraps around the fragrance. Just like a pearl, love takes time to form. It starts with a little irritation, like a grain of sand in an oyster’s soft insides. That lingering thought of someone you can’t shake, it’s a sign that you truly care and love them. Over time, these opposing elements come together to create something beautiful, just like the juxtaposition of forces that form a pearl.

Oyster and Pearls via Wikipedia

The deep dry down of Electimuss London Cupid’s Kiss is where love is formed as everything melds into a soft creamy woody haze that’s almost Zen like with a gentle resinous smoke from labdanum, that spicy pink pepper’s sharpness turns almost guaiac wood like adding to the gentle smokiness with a slight earthy feel, picking out facets of immortelle more spiced earthy side. While it’s sweeter facets give a subtle candied maple syrup whisper, like it’s lightly glazed. But it’s the orris and oud suede with creamy sandalwood that steals the show. The orris’ more chocolate facets have faded, giving more of a smooth creaminess intensified by the sandalwood with the warm spiced smoke just lingering over the top, like a think layer of silk over this creamy flesh, immortelles subtle funk is edged forward with a softly sensual animalic feel from the oud.

Caravaggio Cupid

Triumphant Cupid by Caravaggio

It makes me think of white oud, which has this beautiful suede leather feel and Julian Rasquinet is cleverly amplifying these elements with peppery spices giving that sexy texture of suede’s soft nap being slowly rubbed over the orris and sandalwood skin. It’s not overtly animalic, rather gives that furry cosiness in this dreamy abstract way. True love is where you destroy part of yourself, giving over yourself to become one with another. The perfume achieves this deep love at the end of this rather epic journey and this scene of sensual suede love lingers on your skin for hours afterwards. Cupid’s Kiss has formed this beautiful creamy smooth pearl from that first peppery yet smooth opening, as two become one.

Notes: Pepper pink C02 LMR, Bergamot Oil, Orris resinoid LMR, Immortelle abs Balkans LMR, Labdanum resinoid LMR, Oud oil LMR, Sandalwood Oil New Caledonia LMR, Suede accord.

  • The pink pepper note caught my attention right away….I’m a fan. Cupid’s Kiss sounds like it transitions through spicy, warm and smoky stages. On my wishlist it goes. Thanks for another awesome review and draw. MI USA

Great article J! I like your comparison of Cupid’s Kiss to the Archer’s Kiss. You caught my attention. I like the complexity and contrast that this fragrance seems to offer. I’m interested in experiencing the dance that the notes perform on one’s skin.

I am permanently struck by Cupid’s arrow. A sad reality.. Julien Rasquinet makes amazing scents.. Andrea Maack’s Jest is my last love from him. Cupid’s Kiss sounds like it was constructed in a state of creative freedom, and I loved the layered elements of the review. Very textural, rich, creamy.. Writing from Bucharest

I love what you shared about Electimuss London Cupid’s Kiss, as its unfolding journey being a reflection of experiencing love and how it takes time to develop. The deep dry down intrigues me with the orris, oud suede and creamy sandalwood. Sounds so sensual and beautiful. I would love to experience Cupid’s Kiss…from its peppery opening to its smooth sueded finish.
Cupid’s arrow has struck me nearly five years ago when meeting the love of my life, and I would love to revisit that awakening again through this magnificent fragrance.

J’s review was so poetic, fitting of the fragrance! I have only tried one other Electimuss fragrance, and thoroughly enjoyed it. This one sounds beautiful. I am ready to be struck by Cupid’s Kiss! From CA, USA

  • Ramses Perez says:

Julian Rasquinet has used White Oud (or a combination that yields to a feeling of white Oud) in Aquila Absolute. It smoothes out the fragrance and doesn’t make the fragrance seem so heavy. This bottle is just beautiful, as are all the other Electimuss references. I like how they’re a different color now too to distinguish them from one another. For some reason a few months back when Steven reviewed it he thought it was a very daring fragrance but this review doesn’t strike me as such. It does traverse through different facets but overall, I’d classify it as a spicy/leathery/sweet fragrance. Electimuss has done it again. Cheers from USA.

  • I’m a sucker for immortelle, so I was really drawn to J’s description of Cupid’s Kiss. I live in Oklahoma, USA. Cupid’s arrow struck me more than three decades ago…and my wife and I will be celebrating our thirtieth anniversary next year!

  • Amanda Richey says:

I was struck in 2003! This review was a beautiful journey – evoking both the sensorial and the emotional.

I’m a registered reader from the US.

This quote was beautiful and telling:
“ But my inspiration comes mostly from my personal life, which I share with my wife, the Russian artist Irina Rasquinet. With each encounter, each sentence, each moment of the day there is a purpose of creation. And I am surrounded at home with her masterpieces which give me amazing energy.”

  • This sounds absolutely delectable. I’ve heard great things about it in other reviews, but J’s has really piqued my interest. While others have focused on the sweetness, he spoke highly of the suede/oud/sandalwood combo, saying that it is what truly steals the show. I’ve also heard this one has unbelievable performance as far as its radiance off skin. I would love to give it a shot.

I read through Julien Rasquinet’s article and i was especially taken by his thoughts on the “threat” of IFRA regulations. “I am not so worried about IFRA for new creations, as I believe we have enough creative resources and expertise in developing new molecules innovation to create new olfactive forms.” Now, I’m thrilled to hear that they do not see these ever-increasing restrictions as a roadblock, but more as a challenge or even an incentive to create new molecules and forms of perfumery. Best of luck to all. I live in NC, USA.

  • I love how J says the journey of the fragrance mirrors the bumps and ups and downs and complexities of love. I am very interested to smell the immortelle +orris combo in this as well. I live in New Haven, CT. USA. Cupid’s arrow struck me 2/3/23, when I randomly met my current boyfriend at a museum event!

This sounds like a beautiful fragrance especially the dry down portion. Creamy, woody, spicy &chocolatey. I like what Electimuss says “whichever form of love we consider, one thing is certain; it is complicated.”

  • I really enjoyed J’s explanation of how Cupid’s Kiss came off to him particularly where he said, “That delicious chocolate orris flows over peppery spices each taking the lead at various points. As you delve deeper, you encounter powerful textured suede that manages to be both tough and sensual. It’s a rugged spice embraced by a musky orris woody smoothness, as if the suede and spice are coming together in a passionate tango. As the base notes slowly emerges a musky and smoky quality rises, while a creamy soft sandalwood incense smoke delicately wraps around the fragrance.” There’s another part of the description I really liked as well discussing the orris sandalwood and oud in the dry down. I’d love to try Cupid’s Kiss mostly because I love iris and it’s paired with some other great notes here by a master perfumer in Julien Rasquinet. Thanks for the generous draw, from USA. Not sure maybe Cupids arrow struck me young in high school and again about 14 years ago, I’ve been with her ever since.

Notes: Pepper pink C02 LMR, Bergamot Oil, Orris resinoid LMR, Immortelle abs Balkans LMR, Labdanum resinoid LMR, Oud oil LMR, Sandalwood Oil New Caledonia LMR, Suede accord. as I graduated from a business school, not from ISIPCA. But it finally came from him; he told me before his retirement he wanted to train two young perfumers. He had already chose Julie Masse, and then chose me too. I was so surprised and shocked I was unable to answer, and don’t even remember the end of our discussion. I think I replied with the most stupid sentence: “I will think about it”! I didn’t sleep a single minute and called 50 times the next day between 9h00 and 10h00 until someone picked up the phone; I told him it was a dream come true and for the rest of my life I would be loyal and grateful to him. A beautiful quote by Julien Rasquinet just shows his perseverance and determination to get to the top. I am struck by oud, sandalwood and suede accord. I was struck by cupids arrow in 2009. • John Gahlt says:

J’s review of Electimuss London Cupid’s Kiss is captivating in its detailed exploration of the fragrance’s journey and the emotions it evokes. His vivid descriptions paint a picture of love’s complexities, likening it to the nuanced dance of two distinct elements gradually melding into one elegant sensation. The way he correlates the fragrance’s development to the stages of love, from initial sparks to deep, enduring connections, is both poetic and insightful.

What strikes me most is J’s ability to convey the sensory experience of the perfume, from the bright opening notes to the deep, creamy dry down. His use of imagery, such as the tango of contrasting elements and the gentle smokiness wrapping around the fragrance, allows readers to envision themselves enveloped in the scent’s embrace.

As for when Cupid’s arrow has struck me, it’s moments like these, when I’m transported by words to a world of sensory delight, that remind me of love’s transformative power. Whether it’s the lingering thought of someone special or the feeling of being swept away by a captivating scent, love has a way of infusing magic into everyday experiences. J’s review beautifully captures this essence, leaving me enchanted by the promise of Cupid’s Kiss.

  • Ive really wanted to dig into this house but have only tried one so far. The notes in this sound soooo lush and sensual. Chocolate, Labdanum, peppery musk, creamy orris and sandalwood, earthy immortelle… and that white Oud was in the one I tried and it was lovely. I’m in California, thank you for the opportunity.

  • madamepeace says:

The Cupid’s Arrow of your perfume review caught me right between the eyes when you described the dance between a creamy woody haze moving into suede territory! It sounds so resinous and creamy and like a magical dance. Cupid’s arrow has caught me a few times, and it felt like falling from a great height each time as if you’ve been soaring in freedom, and you get that dread in the pit of your stomach realizing the ground you are about to hit will squash this current version of you. Picking up the pieces feels hard, all these parts of you that feel perhaps shattered and broken, and then you start to realize that you cannot stop loving deeply, your heart is too big for being taught to feel things in a small sort of way. And every new mosaic of your “broken pieces” becomes the catalyst to a brighter and deeper hued version of yourself you didn’t see because it wasn’t highlighted or the light just didn’t hit right. Our hearts were made to be broken, but they heal in more ways than one, and we gain far more than we lose, in my opinion of course. From OR, USA.

  • Every facet described sounds amazing: resinous, creamy gentle, smoky…the review makes this sounds like quite a journey! I live in the USA.

  • redwheelbarrow says:

This sounds amazing! What a great review. I love the descriptions of the dueling nature of this fragrance with the different facets competing for attention. Personally, I try to avoid cupid’s arrow but I don’t think I would avoid this fragrance. Thank you for the draw, from the USA.

  • This sounds delightful. I love the description of the interplay between the notes and how it’s framed as a dance. I love orris, and the combo with spicy immortelle and sweet-smoky labdanum and cacao sounds very much like something I would enjoy. As for my own strike from Cupid – that would have been 18 years ago when I met my partner on a biology field trip. Here we are together still, two happy nerds.

From the Julien Rasquinet article, I like the following quote about his partner: “With each encounter, each sentence, each moment of the day there is a purpose of creation. And I am surrounded at home with her masterpieces which give me amazing energy.”

    I’m in the UK.

Every time I encounter a perfume alluding to the omnipotent yet elusive feeling that love is, I am in awe. It is no mean feat, to take the challenge of depicting the development of the most special bond between beings. I like the way J mentions the grain of sand inside an oyster as a parallel to the lingering thoughts about that special someone that just wouldn’t let go. I am enchanted by the story of the notes used, it feels like every single one adds another spark of brilliancy to the composition. I need to admit I don’t think I’ve ever heard of white oud until today, and I am always grateful for the opportunity to broaden my horizons when it comes to the art of perfumery. Cupid’s arrow has struck me a number of times in life but as it was very rightly mentioned by J, it’s always complicated. From Julien Rasquinet’s essay I chose his amazing description of the breakthrough moment in his life, holding Pierre Bourdon’s contact card in his hand: “When I saw the name on the card, I jumped to the ceiling, and after I had stopped bouncing off the walls, I called him.” I also couldn’t resist taking a line depicting his and his wife’s artistic liaison: “With each encounter, each sentence, each moment of the day there is a purpose of creation”. Thank you for the draw, I am based in the EU

  • Such a beautiful metaphor for the kiss of love! Sweet, sensual and enveloping as opposed to violently passionate, the notes of chocolatey orris and suede, caressed by woods, musk and resins sound like magic. Impossible not to fall in love!
I live in the EU and Cupid’s arrow actually strikes me quite often.

  • What a review – sounds soft, sensual and suede-like. I do love orris as a note – and I also love fragrances that change and develop in layers over time as it sounds this one does. When has Cupid’s arrow struck me? At all the wrong times, haha. I’m in the USA.

  • Trinity33 says:

A journey through the complex emotions of love in fragrance form! Cupid’s Kiss sounds both sweet and spicy with notes of immortelle, chocolatey orris and pink pepper. Sandalwood, oud and suede accord ensures it’s earthy and comforting. I’m in the US.

From the essay: “Some people say I have a hand with for spices, some others say for incense and smoke. But for me, the only thing that matters when I am writing my formula, is that the raw material is relevant to the story of the fragrance. I have chosen each raw material like choosing the right word to tell a story. It only depends on the message and the brief. I don’t want to keep telling the same story!”

  • This sounds like a divine dance of love and brings back memories of first love as an awkward teenager 🙂 Cupid’s Kiss has all the elements; the rough edges, the smoothness as well as the intoxication. I’ve also experienced the archer’s kiss but didn’t know the name for it till now so more learning to top it all. I’d be stoked to try out Cupid’s Kiss and I’m in TX USA

  • Laurentiu says:

Electimuss London is a house I have yet to discover, but I do know some of Julien Rasquinet’s works for other brands and I am sure that Cupid’s Kiss is going to be another creation of his that I would enjoy, more so when looking at the notes and seeing things I love in a fragrance like sandalwood, suede and the challenging (for some) immortelle flower. Thanks for the draw and good luck to everyone!

  • Loved the parallel between the archer’s kiss and the moment when Cupid’s arrow strikes :).
Also, the ‘dance’ of the ingredients made me think about a fiery duel inside the bottle, even if I don’t agree with a rather popular opinion that love must hurt – pretty illogical, if you ask me.

  • Electimuss really nails high-drama packing; that bottle is eye catching. Interesting that the two aspects of Cupid’s Kiss—mineralic spiced immortelle and creamy sweetened orris—fight for prominence as the fragrance progresses. The labdanum and woody incense in the drydown sounds like a deft addition to balance out the composition and make it last. Always intrigued by a sandalwood and oud drydown without anything animalic. Thanks for the review, J.

I love the concept of this fragrance, showcasing all stages of love, the pretty and more childlike side, as well as the rougher and more primal side. Julien Rasquinet, the modern Maestro of perfumery, no wonder he is the one behind this new perfume for Electimuss.

  • As a lover of Julien Rasquinet’s creations and one who gravitates towards the enchanting notes of suede, labdanum, orris root, and pink pepper, this review of Electimuss London’s “Cupid’s Kiss” resonates deeply with me. Rasquinet’s artistry shines through in this fragrance, weaving a luxurious narrative that explores the intricate emotions of love. The blend of spicy pink pepper and fresh bergamot sets the stage for a captivating journey, while the interplay of orris and immortelle creates a delicate balance between sweetness and earthiness. As the fragrance evolves, the emergence of textured suede and musky oud adds a sensual depth, culminating in a creamy, woody haze that lingers on the skin like a tender embrace. Through the masterful combination of these exquisite notes, Rasquinet captures the essence of true love—a gradual unfolding of beauty and intimacy that leaves a lasting impression. This review beautifully articulates the complexity and allure of “Cupid’s Kiss,” offering a glimpse into the profound artistry of both the perfumer and the fragrance itself.

  • A few monts ago I ordered Electimuss London , at the time current sample set, and I’m impressed , true lavishness for the senses. So many beautiful fragrances , gourmands , aromatics, shypres … all smelling luxury, long lasting, and rather unique.
Bought the sample set from Essenza Nobile €120 (20×1.8ml) , the biggest German niche boutique and distributor, and at the time of my purchase unfortunately Cupid’s Kiss was not yet on the market.
Spicy fruity leather, gentle woods , cacao and iris fragrance made by Julien Rasquinet? Sounds fantastic, I can tell Electimuss London commitment to artistry and innovation continues with Cupid’s Kiss, sustainable LMR ingredients , and complicated kind of love inspiration.
“I was too shy and believed I didn’t have the necessary background, as I graduated from a business school, not from ISIPCA”

Persephone’s Patchouli and Amber Aquilaria are the two Electimuss London fragrances i like the most.

Let’s face it , whether it’s for work, business meeting, or social nights out , every man needs a perfectly fitting tailor made suit suit , brown loafers and a fragrance like Cupid’s Kiss.
I like the beautiful colors of the bottle, the leather, non gourmand maple syrup and cacao sweetness, oud , the sense of refinery is tickling my fancy even more.
Purple 3 piece suit suit, Zegna Trofeo fabrics width lapels, double vents, patch pockets and working sleeve buttons and Aquila Cupid’s Kiss will give me a perfect balance between classic and modern, formal and casual. Sophisticated fragrance i’d love to win.

“Patience first, because it takes years before you are able to bring into reality the ideas you might have had in the beginning of your career, when you still don’t have the technique, the experience, and the needed determination to take risks. It takes a good 10 years for a perfumer to be really able to master his art. The first three years of your apprenticeship will probably be the most questioning and difficult time of your life.”
    – Julien Rasquinet

Correct, patience is the key. I do believe i’m quite talented and yet I was apprentice for 10 years before I even started calling myself a tailor.
To Michelyn Cupid’s arrow question , can’t say exactly when it struck me, but i can say my girlfriend is beautiful from inside and outside.

Speaking like a true adept, It has been a pleasure learning about Electimuss London Cupid’s Kiss from J Wearescentient, and the path of Jerome Rasquinet . Not a lot of people feel the need to create, and it seems like with Jerome Rasquinet it comes from within.
I’m a fan of beautiful things, leather fragrances , cacao, iris rose and incense , and I’m envisaging excellence.

Julien Rasquinet i like a lot , so many masterpiece he signed up, and future ones are on the horizon.
I had the pleasure of smelling a few Electimuss London fragrances and I’m so impressed by every single one of them. Cupid’s Kiss is sophisticated with a few interesting ideas and twists. The delicious chocolate iris , spices and suede leather, together with the subtitle candied maple syrup blend is so posh , I need to try Cupid’s Kiss as soon as possible. I like learning about the archer’s kiss from J and its meaning , it fits the fragrance perfectly.
Working and teaching Marketing and Storytelling for many years I’m pleasantly surprised by what Julien Rasquinet said himself ->

Hard work is close to the previous idea, but I believe very few perfumers are lazy. I believe, that for most of us, talent is nothing without hard work. We are like writers, I would never want to see one of my “draft copies” on the market.

My husband keeps striking me with his Cupid’s arrow , and I can’t get enough of it 😉
From the few Electimuss London fragrances I’ve smelled Amber Aquilaria is my favorite, the cognac is so good it makes me want to treat myself

    Hello from UK
Jovoy UK boutique in Mayfair is where I discovered Electimuss London fragrances , and bought Amber Aquilaria . Yesterday I was again over there, and i was able to smell Cupid’s Kiss too after I bought another fragrance.
With 25% oil concentration is a powerful fragrance, it lasts for a long time, and sillage is captivating. The leather is so good, it packs a punch , with the dry cocoa and iris, I can smell black tea too.
J Wearescentient do have a point when he implied Cupid’s Kiss is an olfactory journey that captures the essence of power, beauty, and true love , it is elegant and a fragrance for more special occasions. The only aspect me and J differ is the oud , to my nose the oud in Cupid’s Kiss is not animalic.
To my my taste Amber Aquilaria is the best Electimuss London fragrance, work of art boozy amber i bought late last year .

-The sure thing is that when I was a teenager, I fell in love with Fahrenheit, Kenzo pour Homme, and CHANEL Egoiste Platinum and with those fragrances, perfume took a very important place in my life-

Wow those 3 are important to me too , classics I still wear in 24′ . The quote is from Julien Rasquinet essay.
First time i don’t exactly remember , but lately it seems like Cupid’s arrow is not aimed at me

I didn’t sleep a single minute and called 50 times the next day between 9h00 and 10h00 until someone picked up the phone; I told him it was a dream come true and for the rest of my life I would be loyal and grateful to him. 》

Reading the essay made me think of how very few people know the true meaning of words like loyal and grateful. Good job Julien Rasquinet , you engendered Russian Tea and Roses Berberanza , and keeping in mind the zealous examination of Electimuss London Cupid’s Kiss by J wearescentient i know he did splendid work again.
Vivid atmosphere of sustainable leather, nurturing and blossoming love , powdery cacao kiss , orris and sandalwood stepping on foundation of depth and complexity, Cupid’s Kiss is elaborate fragrance i’d really like to win.

Love what Julien Rasquinet said in his essay

But for me, the only thing that matters when I am writing my formula, is that the raw material is relevant to the story of the fragrance. I have chosen each raw material like choosing the right word to tell a story.

I can emphasize to the perfumer words, I have the exact same attitude towards my work and life.
Cupid’s Kiss is a fragrance based on sustainability by using LMR oils , high oil concentration, and it’s inspired by to my knowledge Roman god of love , J Wearescentient was able to capture my interest. Lingering resonance of LMR ingredients, oud , orris leather and some cozy sweetness from the cocoa and the maple syrup , I’m even more interested now.
I know very little to nothing of archery , I was not aware of archer’s kiss term , never been to such event myself, sounds quite exciting.
No real Cupid’s arrows for me for the past few years, only knockoffs… unfortunately.

  • Cupid’s Kiss surely sounds interesting! I liked reading the review, but the last part of it, is the cherry on top!

‘It makes me think of white oud, which has this beautiful suede leather feel and Julian Rasquinet is cleverly amplifying these elements with peppery spices giving that sexy texture of suede’s soft nap being slowly rubbed over the orris and sandalwood skin. Cupid’s Kiss has formed this beautiful creamy smooth pearl from that first peppery yet smooth opening, as two become one..’

Thanks for both the insightful review and for the generous giveaway!

Julien Rasquinet is the author of a few fragrances I love Masque Milano Russian Tea, Green Bubble Jusbox, Enclave Amouage and Vanilla and Leather ST Dupont .

“he told me before his retirement he wanted to train two young perfumers. He had already chose Julie Masse, and then chose me too. I was so surprised and shocked I was unable to answer, and don’t even remember the end of our discussion. I think I replied with the most stupid sentence: “I will think about it”! I love how Julien Rasquinet took his chances , because as most people know sometimes there is no next time, no second chance and no time outs. Sometimes it’s now , or never.
I’ve heard Electimuss praised by many people online, but I still have to discover their upscale fragrances. I like doubling down on sustainability approach by the brand, beautiful bottles and quality of the fragrances. Cupid’s Kiss is attractive because how complex it is , with spices , leather , mineralic essence , and classy approach. Like J Wearescentient pointed one epic journey I’d like to experience myself

  • Hello – my fist post on Cafleurebon
Captivating introduction, no mistake . I the not so straight to the point review, but the archery prelude first.

    Julien Rasquinet
My clients are also my friends. I have a very special relationship with the milliner and designer Naomi Goodsir and her partner Renaud Coutaudier, as they trusted me at the very beginning of their amazing scent adventure, when no one had even heard of me. Now their brand has garnered success with the perfume connoisseurs. I hope we will continue the work we’ve started with “Bois d’ascese”, “Cuir Velours” and this year’s “Iris Cendre”.

I like how owners of Naomi Goodsir gave Julien Rasquinet a platform, when he was a novice and like he said it alone no one ever heard of him.
I’m exposed to niche perfumery, but not yet to Electimuss London. I find Cupid’s Kiss delightful for the iris and cacao on one part , and the premium leather and sandalwood on the other. Various ingredients i like assorted to the greater extent by Julien Rasquinet.
I’m married to the man of my dreams, and still feel the effects of the Cupid’s arrow from 2006 .

Once in a lifetime opportunity, I’m glad he didn’t miss his chance.
I can see why J Wearescentient believes that Cupid’s Kiss achieves the deep love we all want pointing out its level of complexity. Noble fragrance and unique olfactory experience I’m sure.
I find impressive how J Wearescentient was able to merge elegant fragrance like Cupid’s Kiss, Aegean Sea , archery terminology like the archer’s kiss , pearls and on the other hand leather, iris, cacao and even maple syrup , top quality and artistry from J and Julien Rasquinet , say no more.

I can say, with confidence that Electimuss London is a brand every fragrance lover needs to know, exquisite and alluring creations made from the best of the best ingredients, long lasting on top of that.I no longer live in Paris but Jovoy is the place where I was recommended to try Amber Aquilaria, i had no choice but to buy a bottle.
Archery is not a sport I know much about, I like J Wearescentient explanation of archer’s kiss and the sudden electric shock feel ,similar to the one when the arrow of Cupid strikes.
Leather is one of my favorite notes , so Cupid’s Kiss checks all the boxes. The luxurious leather, spicy richness , and the creaminess in the drydown are the most attractive parts of the fragrance, together with the two become one line , and the beautiful bottle.
The part of Julien Rasquinet essay i enjoyed the most is

“There are three things I would give as advice to young perfumers: patience, rigor, and hard work.

Patience first, because it takes years before you are able to bring into reality the ideas you might have had in the beginning of your career, when you still don’t have the technique, the experience, and the needed determination to take risks. J’s review made me think that perfumers are truly storytellers. I enjoyed J’s description of the notes that Julien Rasquinet used to suggest the journey of falling in love. There are a lot of dualities in Cupid’s Kiss and the notes suggest all the good and bad that comes with love’s journey. I love anything with pink pepper and sandalwood.
Cupid’s arrow struck me in January 1994.

  • “whichever form of love we consider, one thing is certain; it is complicated.”

this is so true for love in life and the development of a good scent for me. Julien Rasquinet is in my top 2 next to Alberto Morillas. I feel a lot of his fragrances tell a story just like I’m sure this one does. J’s review told me a love story that I could picture perfect in my head. Thee transitions that were mentioned with the orris notes moving on to the creamy sandalwood sound perfect to me and then to add in that pink pepper? Yes I need this. I just recent added my first two fragrances from the house to my collection, Trajan and Auster, and I am very impressed.

‘I have a very special relationship with the milliner and designer Naomi Goodsir and her partner Renaud Coutaudier, as they trusted me at the very beginning of their amazing scent adventure, when no one had even heard of me’

I guess Naomi Goodsir and her partner Renaud Coutaudier saw the magnitude of Julien Rasquinet potential, because giving platform to a greenhorn is something very few business owners would do.
The only bows I ever saw were at local museum, in the Medieval section. Like in real life and love there are a lot of novel plots in Cupid’s Kiss, some are gentle others relatively ruff, the powdery cacao kiss, leather smoke are spices I’m looking for the most.
When Cupid’s arrow has struck you ask, last Fall. I only hope next time Cupid won’t forget to hit the other person too .

  • I never ever thought about it before but thanks to J Wearescentient i started thinking about finding a club or range with dedicated instructors, and getting an introduction to the sport of archery .

But for me, the only thing that matters when I am writing my formula, is that the raw material is relevant to the story of the fragrance. I have chosen each raw material like choosing the right word to tell a story. – Julien Rasquinet

Every fragrance should have a story to tell , good to know Julien Rasquinet is carefully picking up the raw materials only when they are associated with the story of the fragrance he’s creating.
I’m now curious about Electimuss London Cupid’s Kiss and the way it evolves. The contrast between the the citruses and spices, the creamy powdery iris and cacao , woody haze and of course the suede leather aroma is to die for.
I love the idea of becoming one with another, like me and my husband , we’ve been married for 14 years now, Cupid’s arrow struck me a few months prior.

  • I chuckled when I started reading this article because I felt so fierce in my leather bracer the first time I tried archery, and then promptly hyperextended my elbow and snapped my bare skin right above it. In any case, what a lovely cast of characters – immortelle, orris, labdanum, and oud sound delightful together. My first perfume-related time being struck by Cupid’s arrow was walking through an orange grove at a u-pick fruit orchard on the side of the road – heady and divine! I also enjoyed this quote: “I have chosen each raw material like choosing the right word to tell a story.” Thanks and hello from CO, USA!

Electimuss London development is remarkable and their future is bright , no questions asked. In my opinion they do everything right, top presentations, sophisticated fragrances made with quality ingredients, and working with perfumers like Christian Provenzano, Julien Rasquinet and Cécile Zarokian. I know all fragrances by Electimuss London, except for Cupid’s Kiss and if I have to rate my favorite ones:
    1. Amber Aquilaria i own
    2. Persephone’s Patchouli
    3. Vanilla Edesia

“whichever form of love we consider, one thing is certain; it is complicated.”

As a straightforward person I always speak my mind first , I like to put my cards on the table straight away , both in my personal and my professional life, no matter the consequences . In my life love is actually not complicated , but rather simple , the way I like it.
Other than J perception of Cupid’s Kiss i very enjoyed the archer’s kiss info , since I’m not familiar at all with archery as a sport.
Like all Electimuss London fragrances Cupid’s Kiss is sophisticated , complex and going through a lot of phases. The opening is fresh and spicy, then the iris and powdery cacao are shining bright and in the base the sandalwood, oud are joining the party. I was expecting Cupid’s Kiss to be really good but J even elevated my expectations.

    From the essay:

“Since you’ve asked me which my favorite raw materials, Michelyn, I keep thinking about this question! I know it sounds like a simple question! I like perfumery that has a certain richness and texture, and I believe this is doable with most of the olfactive families. I first wanted to answer: cistus-labdanum, patchouli Heart N*3 LMR, Turkish rose oil LMR and leather..”

I love reading Julien Rasquinet own words on the matter, leather, rose, patchouli, raspberries, labdanum, tobacco are the notes I’m thinking about first when I think of him.
To Michelyn question, since I’m historian and a nurd , in most interpretations of Cupid’s mythology he actually carries not one, but two different arrows
    1. One with sharp golden point leading the struck person with uncontrollable desire for love and passion.
    2. The second one with blunt point works the other way around, the struck person immediately feels beyond repulsed and wants to get away as soon as possible.
Pretty sure you’re asking about Cupid’s sharp golden point arrow 🙂

This fragrance sounds really wonderful – there is an interesting juxtaposition between Cupid’s Kiss and the Archers Kiss that I see in the notes, especially with the use of the Orris LMR, Imortelle and Labdanum. The hit of pink pepper resonates more with the slap of the archers string.
